The Quayside
Gateshead has a trendy, artisan feel. Head to the bustling quayside and you’ll find By The River Brew Co which is a hugely popular microbrewery, restaurant and street food market. Further along the quayside, you’ll find the BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art which is a converted mill showcasing artwork by contemporary artists. Further still is the The Glasshouse which is an incredible music venue – trust us, you’ll know when you’ve found it!

If you’re looking for fabulous shopping experiences, look no further than intu Metrocentre. The huge, indoor shopping centre is home to designer brands, high street shops, restaurants and bars. With everything under one roof, you can leisurely stroll from shop to shop.
Parks, Gardens & Walks in Gateshead
For those that like to explore the great outdoors, Gateshead has great countryside, parks and gardens. Amble through the woodlands and along the river at beautiful spots like Derwent Walk and Watergate Forest Park. Head to the Victorian Saltwell Park to relax and unwind in the green space. Perfect for all of the family, there is a play area, maze, pets’ corner, tennis and basketball facilities as well as a bowling green. It’s no surprise it has earned so many awards, including Green Flag and Britain’s Best Park.
