The area has a traditional seaside atmosphere, combining a historic fishing heritage with sandy beaches, independent shops, cafés, pubs and restaurants. Seahouses is particularly well known for its working harbour, which remains an important part of the village and is also the main departure point for boat trips to the Farne Islands. Guests can enjoy a leisurely stroll through the village and along the waterfront, with plenty of opportunities to stop for fresh seafood, fish and chips, coffee or a drink. The village centre around Main Street provides a good selection of local amenities, while the harbour offers attractive views across the North Sea and towards the Farne Islands. The nearby beaches are a major highlight, with wide stretches of sandy coastline to both the north and south of Seahouses. The beach provides a lovely setting for coastal walks, relaxing by the sea, rock pooling and enjoying views towards Bamburgh Castle. Guests can also follow the coastline north towards Bamburgh, with the beach route covering around three miles one way. For nature and wildlife enthusiasts, Seahouses is an excellent base for visiting the Farne Islands, located a few miles offshore.
