The Arches Country House

I booked this accommodation for 16 people over Christmas and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their stay. The rooms all had individual bathrooms as well as communal facilities near the main open areas which was ideal. The space was fantastic for group activities and dinner. The kitchen was well equipped to cook for a large party. The surrounding area is extremely beautiful and we are already thinking of booking another return trip in the future ? Would recommend this to anyone looking for a family get together as the local area is also worth exploring.

This house was amazing there were 24 of us staying here for a birthday. Chris the owner was brilliant always there to answer questions when needed. Had a power cut due to storm, he came with candles for us. The facilities inside the house were great too. House very clean and tidy! Beds were slightly uncomfortable but did not ruin our stay

Perfect for a group of friends. Good facilities and loads of rooms. Good location. Nothing. Was great value and perfect for a catch up with friends.

If you are looking for a place for a large gathering then this is the place. There were 16 of us, 15 adults and it was ideal for what we wanted. Everyone hade their own bathroom. The communal space was spot on, we all got to spend time which was what we all wanted from the weekend. Chris came round and introduced himself and said he was available if we needed him but we didn’t everything was fairly easy to navigate. We will definitely stay again.

The Arches country house was amazing. We visited as a large family ages from 9 to 83. The facilities for everyone were fabulous from the hot tub to the pool table/bar area and the quiet tv area. The large kitchen and dining room were superb and the bedrooms were spacious and all had en suite. We had sunshine for the whole weekend, taking walks around the house and to the cliffs edge to visiting Whitby and saltburn, The Arches was a fantastic base and we would highly recommend.

A great place for a large group of family or friends. Very well equipped with crockery and appliances. Bedrooms very nice and peaceful. The outside bedrooms are ideal if you are staying with a dog, they open up to the gated garden. We had a lovely weekend. Would definitely recommend. Chris was a great host, showing us all we needed to know to make the most of our stay.

Great place to stay with lots of family and friends. Good coastline with plenty of fossils to be found and beach to enjoy

An excellent place for our family reunion. It's not easy to find a place where you can get 18 (and probably more) people comfortably sat down to dinner all at once. The large well-equipped kitchen really helped too. The living room is probably even nicer than in the photos. Wonderful to have so much space and our own bar! The pool table could do with a bit of TLC, but it didn't stop us playing on it all weekend long. Lovely bedrooms, all en suite. Nice garden to sit out in, and we made good use of the covered outdoor hot-tub. Great 1 hour cliff-top walk to Saltburn. Everything we wanted.

Wow this was a fabulous choice for our family celebration. We had a diverse range of age groups from 18 months to 3, 90 year olds. Great choice of venue with spacious dining rooms, living area and bar with pool table. Outside was safe and secure for the dogs and children,with good seating areas. Unfortunately we didn’t have enough time to try the hot tub. A visit to Saltburn was only a short drive away, supermarkets, grocery shops, excellent fish and chip shop were in a car journey away. Walk to Skinningrove beach along a footpath that meets with the Cleveland way goes past the house from Brotton Golf Club. Will highly recommend x

Can’t recommend enough! Really enjoyed our stay, we were a large group celebrating a 70th birthday, we had a drive into Saltburn for the day, a takeaway delivered one evening, peaceful area and some of the group took a walk around to find the nearby beach too. We had a murder mystery evening there which was fab with the decor of the venue. Chris came to visit us on the first night, lovely guy.

An excellent location for our weekend away with a large group of friends. We were met at the property by the housekeeper who gave us her number for emergencies and told us where she could be reached if we needed her. She was very friendly, wished us the best weekend and said she wouldn't bother us again. The accommodation was spotlessly clean, all the bedrooms had baths and showers, shower gel and towels. The rooms are split between the main building and outside on ground level which was brilliant for a couple of people in our group with mobility issues. The large kitchen was well equipped with 3 fridges and 2 freezers, cooking facilities and washer/dryer. Sachets of coffee/milk and teabags are provided, as are dish cloths, tea towels, washing up liquid and dishwasher tablets. The entertainment areas were open plan but big enough that we were able to carry out different activities in each area without interfering with others. The large hot tub was also spotlessly clean and we were given instructions on how to use it. The location was amazing, being in the middle of the golf course but within walking distance of the local pubs and shop and onto the cliffs and down to the beach (although it is a steep climb up and down to the beach). The beach is also accessible by car within a 10 minute drive as is Saltburn by Sea. Whitby, Guiseborough and Redcar are all accessible within a 40 min drive. My husband accidentally left his drone in the room but the host sent a text informing us and we were able to nip back and get it! Nothing was too much trouble. Not a problem with the venue but if in a large group and wanting a takeaway maybe do a little research first as we had trouble getting any to complete the large order and none were able to deliver so we had to go and fetch it. In hindsight we may have ordered earlier for a preset time. JUST TO NOTE THIS IS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE VENUE.

Absolutely brilliant venue for a large group of your looking for good communal space. Hot tub and pool table was a bonus ! Bedrooms adequate and all have en-suite which is rare. Only let down was kitchen was dirty and could do with a deep clean .. there was no cleaning products at all so we had to go and buy some including washing up liquid. I had checked in advance and they said there would be some. When there wasn’t I messaged host and stay again and they said they would sort but didn’t so we had to go out and get some. But would definitely go again it didn’t put us off too much as the venue itself is excellent and we will be back ! Great value for money !

Great weekend in a beautiful place, plenty of space for us all to be and each bedroom very comfortable. Easy access for taking a walk on the cliffs to saltburn which a few of the group attempted! All in all a great property that was clean and spacious and good for large groups.

The set up. It's a great place to throw a party weekend. Plenty of comfy seating and well equipped. Having your own pub for the weekend with plenty of room to party and a hot tub for a little relaxation. Close to Saltburn and take aways willing to deliver to the property. Maybe owner needs to just have a walk round and check the small things such as shower curtains that need changing and a couple of the mattresses could do with replacing.

We had a group of us 20 of us last minute requiring a booking as the original air BNB cancelled last minute. I'm grateful we managed to get a spot! there were plenty of clean rooms with en suites. There was a spacious living room and large table to dine. hot tub was excellent. I would happily stay again. Jeanie was responsive when my friend locked herself out of her room and very helpful.

All amazing

The location of the property was ideal given the nature of our visit. It was very warm and comforting and remote as we needed that for my 50th birthday celebrations. The kitchen area was cold, had very bright lighting and could have been cleaned a little better before our stay, this didn't bother us though and certainly did not take away from our stay.

Had the best weekend for my 30th birthday. The stay was perfect and my friends and family all loved it too. The hosts were lovely and very helpful. I would definitely return for a weekend away, it has everything you need and more!

Lovely property for a large group. 11 bedrooms all en-suite. Lovely grounds and walk through golf club, local pub a mile walk away and also highly recommend the pub for food and drinks. Plenty of seating areas both inside and outside. Large dining area. Lovely area outside with hot tub. Great bar area plenty of fridges to store your drinks. Kitchen good size too. The bedrooms were all foisty and we had to open bedroom windows and doors to get fresh into the rooms left them open whilst we round about. Also need more large mugs in kitchen not enough for 20+ people as cups very small.

Location fantastic, though could do with a freshening up Room 4 there seemed to be a leak in the bathroom, just a freshen up would make a real difference, though still great value

I don’t know where to start with this amazing property. We were a party of 24 celebrating my husbands 50th birthday. I loved the look of the property, I thought the bar area would suit us perfectly for a knees up - I was right ? Communication from host and stay was fabulous, all questions pre stay were answered promptly and sufficiently. On arrival property was ready, very clean and hot tub filled and already warm. There are a variety of doubles, twins and two triples and all of our party loved that we all had our own bathroom (all rooms have a bath and shower) The owners were near enough for us to ask questions but in no way at all intrusive. Fabulous location by the sea, very good Chinese in the village, order for 20 correct and delivered in less than an hour! All round very well equipped and comfortable and a great time was had by all

Absolutely excellent place for a large group. We had a fantastic Easter weekend, and loved everything. We are already looking to book again.

Perfect for a large group to stay! It was our second time staying here and I’m sure we’ll be back again next year.

Phenomenal property with loads of space, a hot tub, an awesome bar, and everything else you could ask for to host a big gathering. The owner was great and super helpful with everything too. Beautiful area also with nice walks, nice local towns with lots of amenities, pubs, restaurants also. Only issue I would raise is the property is managed by a third party who were not particularly quick in responding to requests…But once we got to the house and met the owner everything was great! Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a getaway with a large group with loads of space.

We had a great stay! Loads of room for all of us and 4 dogs. Nice walk to the beach and short drive to Saltburn. Loved the hot tub, bar and bonus that each room had it's own bathroom. Loads of kitchen equipment, cutlery, crockery etc. The only thing that could be improved is the communication from the management company before hand, we had a simple question about room set up and they just kept sending me the same information that was on the webpage and wasn't answering our question.

We had 20 friends all staying. Loved all having our own rooms and baths. The social area was perfect for a large group. A couple extra amenities would be benificial in the kitchen, but other than that everything was great. Would rent this property again no questions.

The bar, the pool table, the comfy sofas, the big tv, the fireplace, the hottub, the closed off reception area to keep my dog, the close by beach and countryside walks. The place and location are amazing - we used it as a base for wedding guests. Few cobwebs but it is in the middle of the countryside so can you really expect otherwise? Too much fun was had and it was too nice

the property is in a good location and private it’s maybe the character the owner is looking for but mine and the rest of the guests thought it was a bit dated

The place was absolutely stunning, everything you could possibly need was there for you. The golf course right on your door step is also a massive plus. Would 100% book again.

Amazing, spacious place for large family birthday. Plenty to do, property was amazing, lots of space for a lot of people. Only downside, was communication beforehand, to clarify amenities, however I believe this was due to the agency which manages this, not the property owner, who made us feel very welcome, very friendly and helpful.

Host was fabulous, lovely property in a great location. Clean, well equipped, hot tub and pool table was very well used. Lovely walks near by too Would highly recommend for any large get together.

We stayed here as a group of 7 families and would highly recommend it. It’s perfect for a group holiday. It’s so spacious and perfectly decorated. All the Christmas decorations made it so lovely for our Christmas holiday. We’d definitely come back.

An excellent experience liked by all the family. The accomodation is clean and comfortable and suited our extended family well comprising 14 grown ups, 8 children under 12 and 2 infants, along with 6 dogs. The walk to the beach is lovely and the owner very hospitable, approachable and friendly. We would certainly book it again

Great venue and very welcoming owners. Room 1 is above the boiler and we had an issue with the smell (fumes?) which meant we had to vacate that room. Also checkout was stressful as cleaners and maintenance started working from 8.45 onwards whilst we were still packing up etc for the stated checkout of 10.00. But the house itself contains everything needed for a large group, with plenty of space and amenities and is in a lovely setting.
