Lovely period property in a great location, a few minutes walk to the high street and approx. 10 mins to the shore.  Great sized bedrooms and a bright and clean bathroom. The stairs are quite steep (especially for children) and we had some difficulty getting the pram in and out of the house due to the size of the hallway.  Lovely kitchen. Could do with some more cups and plates.  There are some comments in the reviews about the road. The house is situated on a busy road but at night we found the area really quiet (silent during the night). It was the morning when the road cancelled be heard. We were out during the days so this didn't matter.  Some sand and pet hair on the sofa (not much) but it is a beach house that allows pets, so I expected some.  Check in - straight forward. A handyman had been painting so had accidentally took the key. However this was resolved really quickly when he realised. There is a Spa next door which is really handy!

Absolute little gem of a place to stay. Felt right at home.  Highly recommend 5⭐

1st impressions count and the 1st impression here is unloved  many weeds and leaves from the palm in front garden are just left on floor and on plant  The gate is quite difficult to open as it jams on the ground  There is a nice size front garden that gets the sun but not a single seat outside  even though it is a busy street I would have loved a cuppa on a bench or seat outside and a chill in the front garden  there was a lot of cob webs around the windows inside in most rooms and a lot of bits in kitchen cupboards looked like they had not been cleaned inside for quite a while also a lot of cob webs side of kitchen cupboards  We were wanting to cook a diner but were not willing to use the metal trays that were supplied as they were disgusting this was brought to the hosts attention who asked if I wanted the issues sorting I replied by saying I would like to have trays that i could use the reply I got was hope I still had an enjoyable stay ? i gave up  beds are comfy shower is lovely

Location was ideal, managed to park next to the spar shop next door but no parking otherwise. House was good size, bedrooms very nice.  Not sure when it was fully cleaned last, couple of flies already in the house when we entered, lots of dust on the front door, etc which let it down slightly.

Location of this lovely house is great. Really nice property, warm and cosy and good value for money  A bit grubby with A LOT of cobwebs and bits and bobs in the front garden that did not belong (discarded bottles, and cigarette ends)  The bath.... Looks amazing but I'm afraid it's a bit of a death trap if you're taking a shower. Really high to step into, slippy and it moves! There should also be a warning of the stairs... Blimey, very steep! 

Lovely but needs improvement

Cosy little cottage perfect and comfortable stay. Host communicated throughout everything you need included with the stay including fresh towels tea, coffee etc.   Thank you we loved it and will be staying again  

The accommodation was central with a handy shop next door easy to park on the side street. Beach, restaurants within a walkable distance. Perfect for costal break.

Ok stay settee where not very comfortable

This property is ok, the furniture isn’t very comfy and could do with an upgrade but the location is near to the beach.

Was easy to check into the property and we appreciated the heating already being on after a cold 6 mile walk that day - we got of to a good start but some small improvements could be made for example we found the living room a bit un-homely lack of throws and the sofas weren’t comfy which was needed after our walk. Another improvement could be hooks down stairs for coats to hang on and dry. These are only small things which can easily be actioned but the bigger problem of the noise may not be so easy to fix. The street had quiet moments but I woke at 6 am Monday morning from the heavy flow of traffic! Also, the neighbour played loud music all hours of the day from 8pm on Saturday night to  6am on Monday morning, unsure if this is an air BnB and just an individual or if they live their permanently, was rather annoying.  For those staying I would recommend walking through the woods to the side of the Spa down to the seafront and book a sauna session with Whitby Wellbeing

Great location, all the facilities you need and good value  

We really enjoyed our stay at Windsor Cottage. The cottage was clean, warm and cosy and didn’t need to use the car at all during our stay. We will definitely be returning to Windsor Cottage.

Booked for a wedding.  Property is as described, comfortable beds and nice clean bathroom.  The kitchen, living area could have done with a good clean as lots of cobwebs.  Some substantial peeling paint/covered up mould behind main bedroom door. Kitchen utensils, glassware and pans etc were a little smelly and mucky. Probably not been used for a long time.  Luckily there is a spa shop right next door so we could nip to get some washing up liquid etc to sort.  It’s a great little place for a short stay definitely.  On a busy main road so privacy is a little slim but nothing closing the blinds won’t fix.

Really nice stay in the centre of Saltburn. Dale’s place was great for a few days away. A five minute walk into the centre of Saltburn & less than 10 mins to the beach. The house had everything you needed to self cater. Other reviews mentioned noise from the main road, but it really isn’t bad at all. All in all a great stay & would return again

Booked a stay for 2 nights for 21st birthday weekend.Didn’t realise the property is on a main road (directly next to Spar shop) with no direct parking outside but in nearby streets. Short walk to the town.Pet friendly and very basic in furniture & equipment. Adequate. Upstairs much better than Downstairs area. Front door has a gap around it and is drafty. Could do with redecoration touch ups around the property & looking a bit shabby in places.It was alright but I wouldn’t go back. We have stayed in many rentals for holidays that had little touches & extras but this property had none. Such as no washing up liquid, kitchen roll, extra blankets etc. Just very basic essentials. Seemed unloved overall. Small front garden area was unkempt with brown leaves. Virtually constant (even through night) loud music (heavy / swearing rap) could be heard from the adjoining property.Requested a later check out by 1 hour. (11am instead of 10am) Took reminders & weeks to get a negative response. Appeared no leeway or flexibility in this at all. The cleaner was in fact on the doorstep 5 minutes before our check out time!

The stay was a pleasure but needs a few tweaks. The telly is the worst thing to operate. One remote rather to have normal channels or explain which remote to use there are 4

It was great base for us to explore the area.

The property was very convenient to walk to the beach. its advertised as Dog friendly but i didn't realise when I booked it that there wasn't a garden that our dog could go into or we could sit in

Great place to stay, we explored the cleaveland way and this house is close to the bus and town and beach. Has all you need for a good stay.

Handy for food shopping, plenty of places to eat nearby. Good sized bedrooms.  Steep stairs. All carpets were dirty. Needs shampooing.Upstairs hadn’t been hoovered. Needs redecoration in upstairs rooms. Paintwork was shabby. Noisy neighbour playing loud rap music! 

Location was good for the 5 days we stayed there. It was adequate but we wouldn’t stay there again.

The cottage is well located, just a short walk from Saltburn Square and Milton Street where there are many cafes, restaurants and good quality independent shops. Just across the road there is a very good chip shop that opens every day. The cottage is also well placed for public transport, five minutes away from the train station and bus stops.   Although it is located on the main road, it was very quiet at night and the area feels very safe.

Nice property that is well equipped and spacious. Only potential downside ( that was acceptable to us) was the location ( on a fairly busy road) that might not suit all. Maybe this should be better pre warned on information

I love the cottage, it really has a home-from-home feel and is equipped with all you need.  The sofa was really uncomfortable, but it had one. 

Great little base for a couple of days by the sea. Only a 40min drive from Whitby, and lots to do around the area for young families.  The house itself was very clean and easy to find, would definitely recommend.

We had a lovely stay at Windsor cottage! It was very spacious and clean, great value for money and the location was perfect - only a 10 minute walk to the seafront, lots of cafes, bars and restaurants close by and all very dog friendly. It was a little noisy in the evenings but given its on a main road and we knew that when booking, can’t complain! Would definitely stay again.

Was close to everything and cosy  The shower screen isn't sat properly so the water ends up on the floor and the shower head also has a leak coming out above the shower head which is also making the floor wet

The property was clean and unlike other reviews, we were not troubled by excess noise. The shop next door was hugely useful!  The only downside was a stain on the bedding, but this was changed within a few hours of mentioning it to the host.  We were delighted with this property.

Mark, a member of staff with Host & Stay. He helped us get out of Windsor Cottage and found us an alternative venue.  Unbearable strong smell of tobacco in the main bedroom and the unbearable smell of cannabis in the lounge. 

Truly gross.

Lovely cottage, clean and comfortable good to be able to take the dogs.  There needs to be a re stock of glasses

It was clean, in a great location for walking to the beach and into town. It was lovely and warm, as it was a cold weekend and there was no restriction on the heating. There was plenty of hot water. It was very dog friendly. The kitchen design was great.  It was next door to an excellent shop/post office that sold most things. The television watching system was good and easy to use. The bed was very comfortable.  The stairs were very steep to the bedrooms. The upstairs lighting was poor. There needed to be a mattress cover on the main bed. There wasn’t any facility to make coffee, not even a cafetière. There wasn’t an anti slip mat for the bath/shower. It could have done with an indoor doormat at the main door, especially at this time of year. The under stairs cupboard was full of dumped stuff, so not very useable for coats or storage. 

A clean warm, dog friendly house in a great location for exploring Saltburn.

Great location. Cosy clean and tidy. Perfect for the walk into town.  Parking was a bit naff but managed to park down the side of the house so was ok. 

Friendly getaway

The shower temperature control was broken so only scolding hot water available.   The company didn't send key collection info, no answer or answer phone option for 3 days prior to our stay, only got key info half an hour before our arrival. 

Stressful

Good location and next to a spar for convenience. clean, tidy and comfortable.

Very little  There was no Chubb lock despite the details saying there would be - and a very flimsy Yale lock, so the property was unsafe. We couldn’t shower as the water was at a hugely high temperature which would have scalded the body and the tap that controlled the water temperature appeared to be broken.  There were no toiletries provided other than one tiny bar of soap.  There was no rug in the lounge - the photos did not reflect the actual property  The front garden was unkempt and there was a very old plastic holder on the front gate that would have once held postcards or flyers advertising the property. 

Disappointing, underwhelming and over priced

Self catered . Location good , able to park. Nice house, nicely decorated . Great toiletries in the bathroom . Good tv . Beds so comfy and soft towels . Good amenities near by , shop, and the best fish and chip shop across the way . Not far at all from town and beach .  We were very pleased with the property . There were a few minor issues . Only 3 knives , no ironing board . The front door  Yale  lock unable to put catch down . Just needs a little adjustment to be more secure though we did feel safe and there were no problems . The freezer part of fridge needs defrosting . I doubt the landlord would be aware of that. We would happily stay in this lovely property again . 

Overall a lovely place to stay ,would definitely stay  there  again .

Location was good and the property was clean and well presented.  No coffee machine although it said there was one. No tea towels or hand towel in the kitchen. Surprisingly no coat hooks whatsoever anywhere. No idea where you would hang up your coat in wet weather when dripping wet! These comments have been made before but no action taken. 

Ok for a short break but lacking some essentials

We had a lovely weekend at Windsor Cottage. The accommodation is comfortable and is in walking distance to the beach and promenade. It was also very handily placed next to a very well stocked Spar shop.  As a family we love visiting Saltburn and Windsor Cottage provided the ideal base.

Our stay was ok due to proximity to the sea front however there were some issues. Upon entering the house there was a noticeable smell of damp or drains and there were damp patches on several walls, including the master bedroom wall. The living room was very uncomfortable with cheap sofas, one of which was broken and covered in pet hair. Considering we paid a £25 fee for cleaning it was a bit surprising. Finally, the road noise was excessive and seems to be treated like a race track by locals every night. There were also lots of drunk, noisy people walking to the Spa next door every night then hanging around on the street shouting and being annoying until very late. We had our six month old baby with us and found the noise to be the biggest issue and one we struggled with nightly. For what you pay it was ok, but it’s definitely not luxury as described. Saltburn is fabulous but we wouldn’t stay at this airbnb or any of host & stay’s properties again.

Good location  The property absolutely stunk of cigarette smoke despite being a no smoking property. It was so bad that we were unable to complete our stay and ended up booking a hotel. Despite being told we would receive a refund, they subsequently refused to issue one. Host and Stay used to have a good reputation but I would avoid this properly and Host and Stay at all costs.

The cottage is clean, equipped with all you need,  a great location for easy access to Saltburn centre and the beach. Parking is very close by.

A well maintained property in a good location.

The property is very well located, just a few minutes from the shops, train station and beach. The house is comfortably furnished and well equipped, especially the kitchen. It is lovely and warm once the heating gets going and there are electric radiators in each room if you need a boost. The little garden at the front was very useful for our small old dog, who isn’t up to walking far. The property grew on me over the course of the week, and began to feel very homely.  We booked very late, so it is perhaps understandable that no one had been in the property for a while but it wasn’t very nice to arrive to find post on the mat and the house was very cold. There was no welcome pack, which I’ve had in other properties in Saltburn. We had a few practical issues - the front door sticking, a lamp in the front room not working and a piece of trim in the kitchen fell off and nearly brained my mother. That said, the company sent someone round first thing to address those issues, which was excellent service. 

Nice little property in good location

Lovely place to stay and convenient for the town centre and beach Road noise was constant as it is situated on the main road Traffic using the next door Spar supermarket made a lot of noise

Close to the shop, close to the beach  Beds were not comfortable in both rooms. Banged my leg few times on the bed. 

This place was fine for what we needed for our Saltburn stay. It was very clean and in a good position near a handy supermarket. Near to amenities but it is on the main road into Saltburn which can be busy. We found that at nighttime though the area was quiet even though the bedrooms are roadside. Host and Stay have changed since I last used them and there is now this deposit to pay / and or fee against the insurance - they do clearly state this, but the experience of booking with them felt different to my first time, more impersonal and transactional. When I called with a query about the deposit I spoke to someone in a call centre, I think, though they were helpful. It just felt like a more bureaucratic process & not like my first experience of engaging with this company which was more light touch at the point of booking but then when I needed anything felt really personal and local and was super helpful. However overall Host and Stay are reliable and I would book with them again.

We had a great stay at 38 Windsor Rd. All amenities including spectacular beach within walking distance. Plenty of room for the dog in the kitchen and great walks nearby. Beds very comfortable. A good time was had by all.

Location excellent only a few minutes from the centre, cottage was very clean, Spar shop next door.  No garden, could not open bedroom window as road traffic too noisy. Sharp wooden corner on bed which could easily be removed, my partner has two marks on his legs from walking into it. 

Would stay again due to location

The location was good and the guide to the local area was good, some issues with the basics though!  I should have read the reviews! got caught out firstly by there additional non refundable cleaning charge of £25 and then there was an issue with cleanliness and a smokey smell - contacted them to let them know and just continued to get automated messages rather than an actual response 😅 defo the downside of being a franchise type set up!

Dirty, unsafe, waste of money.

we arrived at 4.30pm to find no heating, which caused us to be late for diner we lost our table which meant they wouldn't allow dogs in the area where there was a table and their heating had failed in that room too. so £100 on petrol no room to stay in .  then your man dealing with our complaint dragged it out to 1pm on Saturday to tell us nobody was available to mend the boiler by then we had missed most of things we wanted to do had passed. now they want to drag it out by filling out forms when all I want is a total refund and compensation for all that was spent getting there and loss  arrangements. £295 plus £100 petrol and something to cover a meal for 8 regards J Burton

cosy and nicely decorated/ done out  wet kitchen floor when we arrived, next door neighbors tv blasting until about 2am, front door felt very unsecure with just a yale lock 

Pleasant but would have been nice to have a bit more flexibility with check in and out times based on how much it cost

Comfy beds. Nicely decorated. Great location.  The host arrived 30 minutes prior to our check out time trying to get into the rental. We had until 10am and she was trying to get in at 9:30am while I was getting ready for a funeral. 5 of the 8 pillowcases were stained. Dirty glasses in the cupboard. Random food in the cupboard from previous guests. Dirty toilet brush (no cover), covered in previous guest's faeces. The list in the kitchen stated there should have been washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets etc ... There were none so we had to chase. Although nicely decorated there was a lot of tidying up that needed doing, it wasn't being kept on top of.  Broken blind in bedroom. Paper thin walls and neighbour had their TV on all night so we hardly slept. Kitchen radiator broken. A lot of mess and rubbish in the garden that could be easily cleared away but wasn't.

Fabulous Location

Really lovely place to stay would definitely recommend. Only downside next to a busy road so was noisy in the morning

We made the booking because the profile clearly stated that in one room the bed could be made into two singles. I messaged ahead and requested this as we were travelling with two kids. On arrival the bed had been made as a double. I immediately contacted the help number as this is a company not an individual only to be told we would have to wait until the next day for someone to bring bedding. We were only staying 2 nights. We had to separate the beds ourselves and one child had a quilt and sheet while the other had a mattress protector and a thin bed throw. The next day someone arrived with more double bedding so I had to phone again to finally get bedding late afternoon. When we separated the beds the floor was filthy with dust and the hoover didn't work properly. We were left 1 toilet roll for 4 of us for a weekend. Overall the property was not very clean, dingy and had limited equipment, It is right on a busy main road which I don't think is clear from profile. It was really disappointing. The issue with the beds ruined the first night and caused a lot of stress. We have had a limited response from the company which has taken 2 weeks to get.  I have never had to complain about a property on Air BnB before.

A beautiful little house , gorgeous decor throughout … extremely comfortable beds and welcoming atmosphere. lovely kitchen … half an hour from Whitby perfect for exploring the area.  On a main road but it wasn’t too noisy as well glazed. Highly recommend.

Lovely house in convenient position. Very clean. Lots of cups and kitchen stuff. Boiler broke during our stay and the agents were quick to respond. Maybe due an upgrade as I notice other reviewers say the same thing. Would recommend to others.

The house is very nice although we had some issues with the heating, we found the constant road noise to be intrusive and spoiled the experience

Lovely location and good facilities for a stay in Saltburn. Right next to shops and ten minutes walk. Flat furnished well and most of the things you’d need. Decor is of a good standard and hosts responded quickly to my issue via a dedicated phone line, even at a weekend. Downsides: boiler had been off a while when we arrived and thus the house was freezing - perhaps if had been checked closer to check out, would’ve known this. Had to refill pressure myself and get hot water bottles which cost a reasonable amount . Also, could have done with some drinks coasters.

Had a lovely few days in Windsor Cottage. Property was as described and ideally located next to a convenience store. Just a short walk to the beach and all the amenity that Saltburn has to offer. Highly recommend.

Great location, parking is plentiful and the house is presented to a lovely standard. If I was being fussy, I’d have liked a coffee machine but that’s if I’m bein fussy

Good location and easy walk into town centre.

This is a great property that is located close to the shops and a short walk from the beach - perfect. The best were very comfortable which meant we all slept well. 
The only improvement would be the cleanliness. When we arrived, I had to clean the fridge as there was dried milk, dirt and stains; the cupboards also needed wiping before we put our food away too. In the current circumstances, we expected a higher level of hygiene and we were therefore slightly disappointed.

A great location, comfy beds not as clean as I’d like

Lovely house, great location and really clean and modern. We stayed with a toddler and as others have pointed out the staircase is incredibly steep so something to bear in mind. It’s also on a very busy road but the door locks behind you on a latch so is safe. Kitchen is well equipped and bed was really comfy. Only criticism if forced is that the sofas are definitely not what you’d describe as comfy!

A brilliant holiday home is a great location. Windsor cottage is well appointed and tastefully decorated; a very relaxing place to stay.

Nice, modern decor. Great location next to a big Spar shop and opposite a chippy. 10 mins walk to beach. Road is busy but quietens down at night. Milk in fridge was appreciated. Would go back for another stay. Steep stairs to the first floor so maybe not good for young children/ old people.

The property had all the necessary facilities and some extras I didn't expect, we took a lot of our own cleaning equipment, etc but these were already provided. The property is on a main road so traffic noise was a bit of an issue at night. Also, the stairs are quite steep so had to be really careful when carrying our little one down them.

We had a lovely stay here for one night. Fantastic location.

This is in a great location, 10 minutes walk to the beach, shop rite next door to the property, a chippy across the road which as good. You are 10 minutes away from everything really. Great space, rooms were lovely and spacious. Was stylish and had hotel touches. Loved it!

Great little house, immaculately decorated, very comfortable. Could do with a few more kitchen bits, such as chopping boards, oven proof dishes, homely stuff. Lots of toilet roll and dish washer tablets.
