Emmy's Escape

First of all the Emmy’s Escape was clean, comfortable and as per the photos. But, there’s no microwave. We’ve lived on microwave meals on previous holidays so this is a big negative. Fortunately we had a cook with us this time and he used the oven, but there were no oven gloves! Also lacking in the kitchen were kitchen roll and a pan scrub. It would have been nice to have a spare toilet roll, particularly as there’s a rack to hold one! 4pm is too late to have to check-in after the clocks go back as it meant it was dark by the time we’d checked what we needed to buy for the place.

Beds nice and comfortable living room and kitchen more than adequate Microwave filthy/dirty, shower fills up with water and doesn't drain after a shower, dining room chairs very loose and unstable

location was great. As it is quite a new build the property was warm Insufficient amount of toilet rolls provided for 4 adults (We've never stayed anywhere home or overseas & had to provide our own toilet roll) We asked the host for more but we had to buy our own, 4 adults one wine glass! again mentioned to host who replied we should have sufficient home ware for our stay - we had to go & buy wine glasses 3 large plates - 4 would be good Unable to use the microwave as looked rusty big stain inside it. No tea towels The toilet was stained & toilet brush was rusty the shower needs a clean All the above can be fixed which would make a difference, We shouldn't have had to go find a supermarket to buty the things that are normally provided.

Location on edge of Whitby was brilliant. Very quiet residential area with access to town without using road via the cinder track Only 1 wine glass, no bread knife, only 3 spoons. Microwave was absolutely manky - filthy and rusty on bottom. Dining table was rickety, needs another bedside table and lamp in pink bedroom. Better instructions on where to park car needed.

Convenient Access was not easy.. delay in return of breakage deposit but still took admin fee

It’s a lovely and comfortable apartment. We were 3 of us and I’m sure four people would have been comfortable as well. The place was modern and cosy at the same time. The are around the apartment was nice and calm and very appropriate for families, especially with kids. You could have a little walk in the evenings. The property was at a good distance from the town centre. You can equally drive or have a walk there. Lidl and Shell are just a few minutes drive away. I really don’t have anything negative to say. The first time trying the front door confused me BUT honestly it’s not a negative point if anything I knew the front door was secure

Nice property in quiet area. Very clean. Only a small couple of things: we were only staying a couple of nights so washing up liquid and salt and pepper provided would have been appreciated.

The property is a new modern building and fixed facilities such as kitchen and bathroom very good Two good size double bedrooms Good location approx 1 mile from town centre. The furnishings were very cheap and not very sturdy or comfortable. Lots of flatpack not particularly firmly put together. The microwave wasn’t usable as the inner coated was damaged and had become rusty. We informed host and stay of the minor problems and despite multiple I assume automated contacts I have had no acknowledgement of those issues. Despite them demanding an insurance or £300 bond in advance before telling you how to access property, which they only tell you about after booking.

Location and free car parking Damages waiver £300 refundable or £30 non refundable (a bit steep) Basic..no where to put towels to dry. Uncomfortable mattresses on both beds…springs gone! Poor quality dining room chairs…wobbly Need door handle on inside of entrance door ….door heavy and bangs shut as nothing to hold onto.

Clean and spacious accommodation with everything you need. Great and quiet location with parking space.

Lovely, comfortable apartment, all the facilities you need, excellent service from Host and Stay. We really enjoyed our stay here. There was only one bedside table and light, where last year there were two.

Parking, size and layout of apartment, appropriately furnished, nice area, bedding and towels were clean. Tea, coffee, sugar and milk supplied was a great idea. Wasn’t as clean as it could have been, very dusty. Some kitchen items missing so there wasn’t a full set of 4. No kitchen towel. Tea towel couldn’t be used as it smelled awful. Cutting knives were blunt. Keys could have been labelled to make it easier.

It was such a cosy apartment, very well furnished and had a lovely ambience about it. The beds were the comfiest and the view from the kitchen and one of the bedroom window's was onto a green landscape. Just Beautiful. The location was just perfect, with Sandsend Beach only 2 miles away, Sandside Cafe where you can enjoy food while taking in the sound of the waves. Supermarkets are very close, Co-op, Lidl, Aldi, Sainsbury's so handy for stocking up your kitchen. Whitby Centre about 3 miles where you can get the best scampi and pay a visit to the famous Magpie fish Restaurant and Saltburn by the Sea where again the wonderful Seaview Restaurant is, overlooking the waves and surfers (weather permitting). We normally stay in a cottage in Sneatonthorpe, but will definitely be visiting Emmys Place again. Can't think of anything.

Lovely clean property and about 10 mins walk to centre

Das Appartement hat uns gut gefallen. Es ist absolut ruhig, ein Parkplatz vor der Tür. Der Code wurde rechtzeitig zugeschickt. Ein bißchen verwirrend sind die 2 Eingänge zum Treppenhaus. Erst findet man die Hausnummer, die Schlüsselbox sowie der Parkplatz ist aber hinten und über eine andere Straße erreichbar. Nervig war, daß nach Zahlung der Versicherung für die Kaution, täglich Mails eintrafen mit der Aufforderung zu zahlen.

The area around the apartment was well maintained and it was quiet. The apartment had not been cleaned properly, the tops of the shelving units where you hang your clothes was thick with dust. There was only one wine glass between three of us, we reported this to the host and was asked to leave our keys so they could bring more glasses ,that never happened. There was no instructions for using the washer or dishwasher. Also a week before we were due to go we were asked to pay a breakage fee which was non refundable .The plates already had chips in them .all in all very poor .

Self catering apartment. Location good for joining footpaths and getting to the village of Ruswarp pub for dinner on foot. Just 10 minutes from town shops. The new apartment was light and airy and felt nice and warm. Bathroom had no towel rail or hooks to hang change of clothes from. We aired the towels over the shower screen. There was no potato peeler. I felt harassed by emails have we broke anything, can we leave it clean and tidy and be out by 10 am. Access needed by house keeping

Lovely apartment had everything we needed. Peaceful location. Comfortable beds and was very happy to have a bath in the bathroom as well as the shower. Microwave a bit rusty.

It was a self catering apartment in a quite area, the apartment was big enough for the 3 of us and had everything you needed in there, it was about 20 minutes walk to town

main bed a bit uncomfortable, springs a few people have commented on this, , could benefit from a mattress topper

Nice quiet location, not too far from centre. The bed was not comfortable, springs sticking in. No washing tablets for washer. Kitchen utensils were mucky.

Lovely apartment, good value for money, very clean I rented the apartment for staff that work for me and the mentioned the WiFi was not working. This needs to be addressed, if not already done so.

It was easy to find, lovely and clean. Everything as promised. Free WiFi, parking easily available. Towels, dishwasher, cutlery you name it. Phone signal and Internet signal not the best. One of the beds not that comfy.

A spacious modern flat located in a quiet residential area, one mile from Whitby's waterfront. Well equipped kitchen. Private car parking space. The number of emails from Host&Stay is well over the top. This should be simplified. There is no information in the Booking.com listing that in order to pay the deposit it is necessary to set up an account with Host&Stay and pay a non-refundable fee of £10 for processing the deposit. This makes the booking process quite lengthy and not suitable for last minute bookings. When we connected to wifi in the apartment we received a message that there was no internet. My husband did not have network coverage in the property. Therefore lack of internet was quite inconvenient. I contacted Host&Stay through an email and was provided with some trouble-shooting steps, which did not work. I was also advised to contact the property management. However, there was no information in the apartment how to contact them. I would suggest providing some written, laminated information in the property on who to contact in case of faults, where the recycling bins are and what the house rules are, eg. about cleaning the microwave after use. Although the flat was generally clean, there were some major misses. The microwave was extremely rusty and there was a pool of rusty water underneath the glass tray. There was some black mould around the attachment of the shower screen to the bath. Black mould can cause breathing problems in some people and should be taken more seriously. It can be easily remedied with the use of a bit of bleach. We found the information in the property listing about the Streaming service (like Netflix) rather misleading. What it actually means, is that there are application on the TV set for Netflix, Youtube, etc., which guests can use if they log into their own accounts.

Great apartment in a really good location. Close to cycle trail & only a short walk into town. A bonus to have parking outside.

The property was clean, contemporary and comfortable. I liked that Host and Stay kept in touch by email, everything was easy to follow.

Really comfortable home from home feel, parking space a great perk, great for families, properly kitted out kitchen, dining table, comfy beds. Location a little far out for walking with young ones so needed to use the car but the bonus was the parking space that comes with the property.

Brand new apartment in a very quiet location a few minutes drive from Whitby central. parking right outside. ground floor. Would be even better if there was a proper handle on the inside of the apartment door, some net curtain for bedrooms, and hooks and rails to hang towels in bathroom.

It was very clean The main issue was it was too far out of centre the beds weren't very comfortable you could feel the springs

Spacious property as advertised with reasonable levels of equipment in the kitchen. Provision of a washer/dryer was welcome. Plenty of clothes hangers despite the photos on the website showing just only about 3 in each bedroom. There was no towel rail in the bathroom so had to drape them over the radiator. We think this is why there is some rust on the bottom of the radiator. Appreciate we could have used the washer/dryer but that seems a bit wasteful just to dry some towels. Would have been good to have had a clothes horse as an alternative. As the apartment is on the ground floor the living room looks out on the green in front of the apartment block and there is a foot path directly in front of the window so there is a lack of privacy. You can drop the roller blind but this obviously leaves the living room a bit dark during the day.

The flat is gorgeous, comfy, cosy, well equipped and warm. Location is great, a brisk walk to town if you can brave the hills! Only thing we'd say is the bed wasn't very comfortable... That's literally it. Really worth addressing as we'd definitely return if they were. Tip: hooks on back of bathroom door for dressing gowns? ?

Very clean and spacious

The apartment was perfect and so quiet. Everything was clean and the little touches laid on for the arrival such as coffee and milk was much appreciated. Parking was a bonus and the Wi-Fi was excellent.

Unfortunately, the booking was via Host and Stay, who get only 1* (given that 0* is not an option). After booking the stay, and paying, they then demanded an extra £25 for breakage cover: Wouldn’t have minded if that was specified up front. Also I received 19 emails from them about the 2 day stay!

Great location, only 15 Min walk to river/town. Really clean and fresh, great size. Parking. No Hoover, though looked like it had been removed. No hooks in bathroom to hang up towels. Great location for us but it is down a very steep hill onto town so not great for mobility issues as getting back is quite a work out. Not the flat's fault, just a word.of warning.

Great venue. Beautiful apartment with everything available that anyone could want. Pre-visit I received 7 emails telling me to complete the compliance details which I did after the first request. Clearer details for where the parking place is would be helpful please.

Lovely clean modern property, ideal location if you like walking ???? as near to the cinder track nothing to dislike really, but we all commented that the quality of the mattresses could be better, but that’s an individual opinion

Property lovely and clean and modern, everything there that we needed.

Spacious, quiet location and fully fitted kitchen including dishwasher and washing machine. Easy check in process. Although it was generally tidy it could do with a proper clean. I had to clean the mould off the bottom of the shower screen, marks all over some walls, etc. It's a shame as it's obviously the people who stay here that have not looked after it. I had to report these findings on arrival as I have to admit I was concerned due to the sheer number of emails from Host and Stay asking about taking out insurance via Superhog for the stay, which came at a cost. I chose not to pay this as it should be included when paying £305 for 2 nights! The mattress in the main bedroom is very uncomfortable and you can feel the springs when lying on it. Could do with a mattress topper at least. Also to note I have corrected the map marker via Google maps as it's located off Anchorage Way, not on the street itself. Otherwise we had a great stay. The above aren't criticisms, just things that can be improved.

it was spacious with parking outside long uphill walk back to the property from Whitby. Pillows too thick. Table lamp columns and switches seemed to get too hot. No sponge provided for washing up.

Location was a 20 minute walk from Whitby Harbour. Was really clean and comfortable. Would defo stop again! Was a little difficult to find but we managed. Not really a negative as its tucked out of the way

A great apartment with private parking. Lovely furnishings and finish. A well equipped kitchen. Ideal for families on the ground floor. Walking distance to Whitby approx 25mins.

Flat very close to Whitby- only a few minutes walk into town centre. Nice quiet area Flat clean and spacious Parking just outside flat at back of property Good communication with letting agent Flat is obviously only ever used as a holiday home and never been lived in so little things missing eg there is no mirror above the bathroom sink, making it difficult to shave. There is a mirror on the bathroom wall but not near the sink - a little vanity mirror on the bathroom windowsill would suffice. There is no rail to hang your wet towels on or hooks on the back of doors. However these are only minor issues. Overall the flat was lovely and I would definitely like to stay here again

The apartment was beautiful and the location was brilliant. 10 minute stroll into town which was handy to get the baby to sleep so we could enjoy a nice drink in peace haha The hosts were amazing and kept us informed with everything we needed to know which made check in so easy!! The kitchen had everything you could need and more and then whole apartment was completely spotless. A lamp in the living room would have been helpful and also hooks on the bathroom door for towels Very minor things though and didn’t affect our stay at all!
