Lobster Pot Apartment

Location was excellent - less then 100m from the main bridge at the centre of Whitby up a small side street but still very quiet (no noise issues at night). Clean modern apartment. Plenty of space for a family of four with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Can't really fault it!

The position of the flat is great but unfortunately is very noisy from the hotel opposite which has a very busy Wetherspoons attached. The noise starts very early as there is also a greasy spoon cafe underneath the flat. Beer deliveries and bottles being deposited in the waste bins. Lots of food smells from the cafe. See above the flat its self is very nice and contains everything you could want - no complaints there.

Positives: Great central location. Beautiful view from the living room. Great facilities (except no washing up liquid) - host provided shower gel, shampoo, soap, dishwasher tablets. Plenty of space for two adults and a toddler. A good price that's competitive. Parking discs provided and clear information about where to use them was given. Also pay to park nearby was only £10 for 24 hours. Cons: Carpets were dirty and so were the laminate flooring so our socks got dirty. Blinds and other surfaces were dusty. Limescale in the bathroom/showerhead hasn't been tackled in a while. The double bed mattress was extremely uncomfortable - springs sticking up. Pillows for the beds were wafer thin so lots of broken sleep. A suggestion for ear plugs for future guests as the bedroom windows are above one of the smoking areas for the pub next door. Likewise, another pub near by had music playing until late. Storage for food other than the fridge/freezer would have been useful.

Location and facilities We were locked out and this was due to the lock on the outside, one of the buttons were stuck in so the code didn’t work this needs addressing but also many times the door was open as it didn’t shut properly

Easy access, Nice apartment, comfortable beds, location good. Everything we needed in apartment. Very steep stairs to apartment, not able to get close to apartment in the car to drop luggage off. The cleaning was not brilliant as there was Plastic and bits on the floor when we arrived And the window blinds were thick with dust which isn't good for my asthmatic friend .

Lovely spacious apartment with all the amenities we needed and more. Location of the property is very central and ideal for exploring Whitby Apartment was very clean. The information guidebook was extremely useful to have all details of access codes, maps and location information etc in one place. Some noise from Weatherspoons etc on an evening…. And also in morning when pub is changing barrels. Strong smell of bacon early morning from cafe underneath apartment

The location of the property is fantastic and a great size The bedding was stained the mattress in the master bedroom needs replacing. The dishwasher was out of order. The pillows in the living room were dirty and the property needs a deep clean. The hallway and stairs leading to the property are filthy and need a clean. The bath panel needs replacing

Loved that it was by the harbour and close to amenities. Good furnishings, clean and comfortable. Good communication regarding stay from the Host. That other people staying in the flats left the main door open regularly. That was woken at 6am every morning due to the cafe below serving food and could hear the chatter. Car parking was a bit of a nightmare - the nearest 'W' areas weren't close so if you were elderly or had walking issues, this wouldn't be appropriate.

From booking the apartment information was supplied and accurate - smooth transition accessing the apartment, great location for everything. I would have no hesitation in staying at this property again. Great host Thankyou very much

Great location although proximity to bars means a certain amount of street noise until late. Shower cubicle was broken and in pieces. We arrived to find repair man doing his best but unable to repair it. Extractor fans in both bathrooms not working. We were provided with one hand towel for 4 of us. Washing in the machine, bucket and vacuum cleaner in the lounge, toaster dirty, flat generally dusty throughout. Awful smell in communal entrance. No response to any of this from agent.

Location was good. Had nearly everything we needed. Clean Graham the maintenance man was very helpful very informative and very quick to come to our aid. The shower wasn't working in the en suite. One of our party could not get into the bath to use the other shower. Had a leak in the middle of the night. Which we had to clean up and use all the towels . Mattress uncomfortable in yhe double bedroom.

Great location, flat looked like pictures. Next to pub & did get loud but didn’t bother us. Reported a smell in flat on arrival day, like damp/drain sour smell. It never completely went away. Partner was in the shower first morning & downstairs cafe owner was at the door saying water was coming through her ceiling lights. So had to get him out the shower very quick. Reported this & got told maintenance would be there to fix it when we were out. When we left it still wasn’t fixed so we could not use the shower in en-suite in the 4 days we were there. We book an apartment with en-suite because there was 3 adults all trying to get ready at the same time. If these issues where fixed we would have booked this place for future trips to Whitby but we will now be looking elsewhere where.

Great location , everything we needed in the apartment. Good communication from the owners. Parking , I know this is not the properties fault from the location , but difficult with a 3 year old.

Place was perfect Head office is a disgrace, was told insurance cover was £25, then when I gave details over phone they took £30 , robbing crooks. Fraud and theft.

Excellent apartment in a fantastic location, clean, modern and well equipped. Being told that there was a further charge for damage insurance days before our arrival, did not sit well this should be included in the price charged when booking and not as a hidden extra.

Position was good. Nice and clean. The terrible drone/vibration noise in the lounge room from the building below. Stopped when the business closed later at night. Also the noise from the pub where they stored their kegs and rubbish bins.

Very good location Very steep step to get into and out of the building from alley way along with steep stairs. If carrying luggage you are limited to what you can carry. No bath mat in bathroom or slip mat in a high sided bath along with no hand rail for balance. No permit for parking in W zone near by could have done with an H parking permit, map wasn’t clear as to were we could park.

Das Appartment ist sehr schön, groß, sauber und modern. Die zentrale Lage in Wassernähe ist ein Vorteil, aber auch ein großer Nachteil was die Lautstärke angeht. Die Wohnung liegt in der 1. Etage und ist über eine sehr schmale Treppe zu erreichen. Es gibt 2 saubere Bäder/Toiletten, Spülmaschine und Waschmaschine. Whiteby ist ein sehr süßes Städtchen und alle Sehenswürdigkeiten, Restaurants und Shops sind von dem Appartement fußläufig erreichbar. Vor der Buchung sollte man wissen, dass man zusätzlich 25£ für eine Versicherung zahlen muss. Zudem steht in der Beschreibung "mit Meerblick", aber den sucht man leider vergebens. Es gibt allerdings seitlichen Blick auf den Hafen. Wir bekamen zuerst eine veraltete und dann die falsche Park-Karte ausgehändigt, sodass wir letzendlich jeden Tag mit dem Auto und der schwierigen Parkplatzsituation zu tun hatten. Am schlimmsten war allerdings die Geräuschkulisse (hier ist die zentrale Lage und die Wohnung im 1. Stock definitiv ein Nachteil), denn nicht nur dass das Brummen des Restaurants im Erdgeschoss das Wohnzimmer zum vibrieren bringt, auch die (betrunkenen) Gäste des Wetherspoon gegenüber, unterhalten sich lautstark die ganze Nacht und kotzen gerne auch vor die Tür. Davon sind sogar die Kinder aufgewacht. Dazu kommt spätestens ab Mitternacht ein lautes Kratzen und Fiepen in den Wänden des Schlafzimmers, das einen glauben lässt, die Ratten säßen direkt neben dem Bett. :(

Great location, clean and tidy The constant, unpleasant vibration and hum from the fish and chip shop below (presumably an industrial extractor fan?) between roughly 10am to 8pm made the space unpleasant, uncomfortable and borderline unusable during the day.

Self catering and closeness to town centre. If your a light sleeper not for you. 5 yards from Wetherspoons back door with beer deliveries early doors and keg deposits after midnight.

The location was central to everything. The apartment was clean and comfortable thank you To provide 2 pillows per person....a couple of us struggled with only 1 pillow.

The flat was clean and exactly what we needed, in a very close proximity to the middle of Whitby. The flat was very well appointed for everything that we could need for our stay and longer. The steps into the accommodation are very steep and the height drops very low. There is a sign warning of this but unless you are looking up, you won't see it. My husband banged his head and hurt his neck. On the way down the stairs, the sign is more visible. The flat is also directly above a cafe that starts setting up about 7am and it is difficult to sleep after that. That would be the only reason why we wouldn't return here.

Location was very central New apartment Apartment wasn’t as clean as it could have been. Met with chewing gum on the stairs leading to front door and balls of dirt rolling along the steps Shower cubicle had some black mould on it.skirting boards very dusty. Very noisy above and below. Smell of bacon coming up from cafe below at 6am in the morning.

Good location. Flat is warm,bright, clean well decorated and facilities are good. Access is by steep staircase be careful if you’re carrying luggage or if you’ve got any mobility issues oh and if you’re over 6 feet tall watch your head….. only real issue is the external noise early morning and late at night from the nearby businesses. Windows seem to lack proper soundproofing and with deliveries starting around 630am you need to be a heavy sleeper. Overall though that wasn’t a deal breaker for me.

Location was excellent, very clean,plenty of room. Had to pay £18.00 to park because there wasn't a parking permit in apartment. Fan from chip shop below apartment was very noisy making it hard to hear tv. (Didn't want to turn it up too laud and upset people in other apartments)

Great location and was easy to find. Lovely place with all amenities. A little noisy at night given its location and I was a little annoyed that the letting agent changed the check-in times without discussing it with us first.

The very central location, the amenities of the apartment, the cleanliness, the WiFi, bits (essentials) left in the kitchen, view from living room. The bed was horrible - needs replacing. The constant noise… all day from the chip shop humming (vibrates everywhere in the living area) and the upstairs neighbors slamming doors, walking heavily, and a LOT of coming and going. for context You can literally hear the neighbors cough or flush toilets in the night. Bedroom right next to communal stairs so you hear people banging external door, cleaner woke us up at 0650. Then the normal town noise from people outside. The windows, ceilings and walls are paper thin.

Lovely apartment in a great location. East access to everywhere Oh my life, the noise of the chip shop fan and the noise of the apartment above. The place leaks noise from every orifice, which makes it a never to return place for us. It's such a shame as it's a lovely space and location.

Great modern well equipped flat in excellent location to bars and restaurants. Only negative is the loud humming noise /vibration in lounge coming from the fan in the chip shop below, but only open during the day so didn’t spoil our stay.

Nice and central to everything. Clean and modern. During the daytime there was a loud hum and vibration from the shop below (a cooler or AC unit perhaps?) It drove us insane. Also the barrels being rolled out of the place opposite at 5.00 am wasn’t great. the apartment was also very hot. we turned most of the heaters off during our stay.

The property is in a fantastic location, it is spotlessly clean and very comfortable with everything you need. The only downside is… the apartment is next to the weatherspoons and we were awoken at 5/5.30am every morning by either bins being emptied or barrels being moved and the staff having very loud conversations in the alley between, this went on for a good half hour or more and I was then unable to get back to sleep! There is nothing the host can do about this but just something to be mindful of.

The location was excellent. Very clean. Excellent facilities. Communication from the host was excellent. The stairs were very steep up to the door. The floor was uneven, stepped within the apartment.

Location was amazing, very clean and nice apartment. Was easy to access although very steep steps so not good if any mobility issues Was quite alot smaller than expected. Had no idea the parking situation, no explanation as to where the permits were able to be used. Ended up just paying for parking in the main car park.

brilliant location, lovely flat, very clean and lovely and well stocked no bath mat, no cupboards empty for storing food we brought so all had to be left on work top and extractor fan in en-suite did not work

It was self catering . Everything about the apartment was superb. The location was very central for all amenities. Just one thing on the communal door outside. The step was quite deep and it could maybe make it better with a vertical handrail to get in and out.

Unfortunately we were unable to travel to the airbnb due to red weather alerts caused from storm eunice. Trains were cancelled and we had no other way of getting there. We shared multiple screenshots showing the red weather alters on the news as well as the cancelled trains. We asked the management company if it would be possible to reschedule and we would be happy to pay slightly more if they allow this to which they said that wouldn't be possible. The host refused to refund anything including the £60 cleaning fee...despite the fact there would be absolutely nothing to clean as the flat would have been empty for the entire weekend. Overall a really disappointing experience and a complete lack of understanding from the host and Airbnb.

I am shocked no one has mentioned the constant vibration of the apartment from 9:30-17:45 from the businesses below, maybe an extractor fan? If you don’t intend on being in the apartment during the day, this will likely not impact you. If you are, it can start to make you feel very travel sick. When booking: please note that you are asked to provide identification to the company managing the property, even if you have done so with air bnb. Various bits of information throughout our stay were incorrect, the info states the door is the black door to the left of the restaurant, when in fact it’s to the right. Otherwise info was quite easy to access from the online guidebooks link provided. When we had a problem finding the door, it was easy enough to access help outside of working hours from the company, so that was much appreciated. Accessing the property after this was pretty straight forward. The info on parking was clear and helpful. Just to note the road outside the property can only be accessed for car offloading outside of 10:30-16:00. The messages sent during our stay were confusing. Whilst the house rules state your rubbish is removed by the cleaners, we received a message prior to the end of our stay asking us to remove the rubbish from the property or take this with us if in excess. What’s in excess? More than the tiny bin in the kitchen? Of course there was no info on where to do this, in the message or guidebook. Then when you look outside, we were told the bins were for the restaurants not the apartments. Also it would be nice to have had a bin bag already in the main bin, instead of having to hunt for it under the sink. Despite paying a cleaning fee yet you are messaged prior to the end of your stay instructing you to wipe down the surfaces with antibacterial wipes provided. Whilst we always leave our air bnb places tidy this ask was yet another small thing that highlighted this property is managed by a third party and not the owner. Otherwise, it’s a nice position to access everything. The apartment has nice decor, plenty of space and utilities. Staying with a family, unlike people who have reviewed before we did use the kitchen. There were a couple of dirty dishes put away in the cupboards, that clearly hadn’t been washed properly but otherwise most things were clean there were most utensils, and sufficient facilities. It’s unlikely we would stay here again, as it’s a different standard when managed by an outside company, compared from our previous air bnb experiences, managed personally by the hosts. Additionally the constant vibration from the nearby business was a real deal breaker for me.

Just something to consider when booking. You may not get a refund from Airbnb if you contract covid. We didn’t. This flat has a property management company looking after the property called stay North Yorkshire so their is no direct contact with the home owner which was a bit confusing as I was unsure which policies to use covid etc and who I should contact etc. in the past it was the home owner. It wasn’t straight forward this time. I managed to stay with half the party as other half had to isolate. It was in a great location.

Great apartment in a central location, clean and modern. Close to the train station and parking was easy with pass included. If you are a light sleeper there was a bit of noise early in the morning from the cafe underneath and there’s a Weatherspoons directly outside. Beds are really comfortable and the kitchen has everything you need if you want to eat in.

Parking a bit of a nightmare but otherwise a super plce to stay

Really good location, no parking however there a little car park to pull in to unload bags, and a big carpark which is cheap enough just a short distance, our car was completely fine there! Apartment great as the pictures! Steep steps to get up to the apartment but definitely worth the luggage struggle it has everything you need in we were gutted we didnt get to cook a meal! But everything is on your doorstep! Chippy,pub,mexican,cafe and short walk to all the attractions, we couldnt of picked a better place

The apartment is very comfortable and has everything you need, a lovely modern kitchen and bathrooms and the beds are really comfy. It is in a great location - right in the heart of Whitby. There was some noise at night, which you have to expect in the middle of any town, but this didn’t bother us at all. The seagulls were noisier than any revellers! We have had a brill long weekend and would definitely stay here again. Thanks to our hosts ‘Stay’ who were very good at keeping in touch and making sure we settled in.
