Property Details

The Space
On the ground floor at Mallard Cottage, you’ll find the master bedroom. With a comfy king-size bed, as well as plush bedding and linens, this is a truly tranquil space. There is a shower room with a WC and basin on the ground floor.

Take the stairs up to the first floor and you’ll find two bedrooms. The first bedroom here is a large space with a double bed and a clothing rail. Ideal for children and teenagers, the second bedroom on this floor has a single bed.

Also on this floor is the family bathroom which benefits from a bathtub with an overhead shower, WC and basin.

Mallard Cottage has an open plan kitchen, living and dining area. Located on the second floor, this is a great place to relax with your loved ones as this space is really sociable and homely. The living area features a comfy sofa, armchair, and a flat screen TV with Netflix so you can cosy up and unwind on an evening after a fun-filled day at the beach.

Modern in style, the kitchen includes an oven, hob, toaster, kettle, microwave, refrigerator, washer and dryer so you can make the most of your self-catering stay. The dining area features a glass dining table and four chairs.

Mallard Cottage's greatness doesn't end inside through. Head outside and you'll discover a good-sized garden boasting a raised patio with plenty of seating, as well as an artificial grassed area.

Host & Stay are committed to our owners that their homes are protected during guest bookings. For this reason, we require all our guests to transfer a Damage Deposit (refundable, subject to an administration charge) or, to purchase an Accidental Damage Waiver which will cover you for up to £500.00 of accidental damage during your stay.

Neighborhood
Set on the West side of Whitby, Mallard Cottage is located just off Bagdale so you can expect a fabulous central location. Just a short 5-minute walk will bring you to the town centre.

Head to Pier Road and you’ll find cosy pubs, fun arcades and plenty of fish restaurants. Continue along the lively road until you reach the beautiful, blue flag West Cliff Beach which is lined with idyllic beach huts. At the other end of Pier Road, you’ll notice the swing bridge which sits over the River Esk.

Over the bridge, you’ll find yourself on the East bank which is full of narrow medieval streets dotted with boutiques, pubs and fish restaurants. Climb the famous 199 steps up to the Church of Saint Mary. You can also discover the renowned ruined Whitby Abbey, which was the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s gothic novel ‘Dracula’.

Step outside of Whitby and you’ll uncover a haven of woodland and moorland. Whitby forms part of the North York Moors National Park so it’s the perfect place for long walks.

Getting Around
The centre of Whitby is a short five-minute walk from Mallard Cottage.

Whitby train station is just down the road so villages and towns along the North Yorkshire coast can easily be reached via rail. There’s also a taxi rank in close proximity to the train station.

There are plenty of bus routes throughout Whitby. Hop on the X4 and you can visit beautiful coastal villages like Sandsend, Runswick Bay and Staithes. The X93 travels along the coast to Scarborough. The 95 route features plenty of quaint villages, such as Grosmont and Lealholm.
