We had a lovely stay at Shipwrights. The apartment had everything we needed. Only critique was that we felt that one of the mattresses could be due for a replacement but the other one in the second bedroom was very comfortable so we were fine. <br/>Thanks for a brilliant stay and we’ll certainly be back xx

A modern first floor flat, designed and intended for the rental market. Had two sets of glass doors opening inwards in the lounge, but didn't have any curtains or blinds on them - both sets of windows were overlooked by neighbouring properties and they could see in at night, not ideal when you're trying to relax. Had everything you need, good parking space and ideally located for the town centre

We very much enjoyed our stay and would happily stay here again

Great location to explore Whitby and the surrounding area.<br/>Looks exactly like the photos. <br/>Not much in the way of clothes storage but the apartment was comfy and we felt relaxed there.<br/>There were a few niggles which we let H&S know about, hopefully these are addressed before the new guests arrive. Nothing that would stop us booking again.

An excellent stay in Whitby. The flat is perfectly located to spend a few days in the town, with everything just a short walk away. The apartment itself is a nice space, which suited us and our young daughter very well.

The benches at the dining table didn't seem too stable and creaked every time we sat down to eat.

Location was brilliant, lots of good facilities and nicely decorated. One bed was really comfy. Host replied quickly to any questions.<br/><br/>Some of the high level cleaning wasn't done, with cobwebs in the bathroom and other areas. <br/>Additional charge to Booking.com site as a deposit incase of breakages is added to the free you pay <br/>One bed needed a new mattress as springs were broken

The location was chosen so to be within easy walking distance of all the amenities Whitby has to offer. Ideal for the railway station and a wonder around the various shops, restaurants and pubs.<br/><br/>N/A

Good stay with a fantastic location and great parking. Facilities were clean and there was a local supermarket to collect the basics.

Everything was spot on and we would stay again. Great to have a designated parking space. One thing worth noting is the requirement to pay a £250 refundable deposit or buy a £25 insurance cover prior to check in information being shared. This is only made clear after the booking has been made and I think it should be made clear in the property description so it’s not a surprise and additional cost. <br/>Other than this everything was as seen in the pictures and the property was well cleaned and stocked with everything you would need. The location is perfect for exploring Whitby and the surrounding area! Thanks for the great stay.

Great location, 5 minute walk into Whitby town centre. <br/>Good accommodation, bathroom would benefit from some minor maintenance.<br/>We didn't really use the kitchen, but there seemed to be a good stock of items for cooking. <br/>Would recommend due to location and cleanliness.

Lovely second floor apartment in a great location. Literally 4 mins walk into centre of Whitby. Allocated parking right in front of the block. Apartment itself very secure. Good size living/dining/kitchen area. Large fridge with the added bonus of a freezer. Would recommend.

Good location - short walk into centre. Easy parking. Comfy beds. Good shower over bath.<br/><br/>Cheap furniture - lack of clothes storage in tiny drawers. Hardly any hangers. Bathroom floor Lino was creased. Sturdy good sized dining table but creaky benches. <br/>Didn’t like the way Host & Stay operates…..happy to pay deposit (£250) but think taking a £10 fee before returning this money is such a cheek - never had this happen before! - was not aware of this at booking stage.

The property location is excellent. Having a parking space allocated was a bonus to this accommodation. Very modern and airy.<br/><br/>When booking be careful you either have to put another £200.00 deposit down and it takes upto 14 days to receive back to which the host company take a fee of £10.00 or you have to pay £25.00 as a waiver insurance so extra cost. <br/>The property does need a little maintenance. The bathroom shower leaks and needs fixing, you can see the leak has affected the bathroom and its been like it for some time. Blinds should be up in the living room it's been noted on previous reviews and would help with privacy to the property. A couple of chairs on the balcony would be nice and again reviews have been added on this. I think as this is managed by Host & Stay very little is taken on board or changes and improvements would be made.

Had a great 2 night stay. The apartment was in a great location, just 5 min walk to the centre. It was spotlessly clean, beds and linen all good. Would def book again if we head to Whitby.

Easy check in, perfect location, place looks just like the pictures, clean and great shower.<br/><br/>Only that there was no hand wash in the bathroom or washing up liquid (but there is a dishwasher for bigger loads which is great)

Great location<br/><br/>Whilst I understand some people visiting the property may not look after it, the emails about the security deposit were rude. It wasn’t overly clean and communication with the hosts were difficult.

Location was great, good bathroom with excellent shower and the large bed was comfy. The fridge/freezer was a good size too. The property has a parking space, which is a bonus as other properties in the area don't, the space for apartment 3 is 4, as we luckily bumped into the owner of apartment 4 who parks in 3 and told us we needed to park in space 4.<br/><br/>The TV didn't have a signal, so no live TV at all could be watched. I messaged the property, but unfortunately, nobody came back to me so we opted for the LG homescreen apps and watched YouTube! There's a balcony with a space to sit out but no chairs/table, which would have been a nice addition. There are no curtains at the property and blinds on the windows only, which meant you could be seen when sat on the couch or the other way, when you were in the kitchen by other apartments.

We liked the general apartment & good washer/drier.<br/>Comfortable beds. Nice toiletries. Good parking once you discover which one is allocated to you.<br/>Good fridge & easy walk to town.<br/><br/>The guy on the phone thought assisting us verbally was too much trouble. Dave raised his voice when I asked him to repeat the lockbox code(and then repeated it even faster when I mentioned that I didn’t have a pen handy in the car!) Basically there is no hospitality and it’s a do it yourself situation. <br/>We’d never dealt with handles that one needs to raise before attempting to use the key to lock. A note on door to this affect could be helpful.<br/><br/><br/>Martin the handyman was most helpful.<br/>Hooks on the back of doors and in rooms would be useful.<br/>The benches are going to collapse and need urgent maintenance.<br/>Buses to Sandsend are very unreliable.<br/>Outdoor chairs would be nice.

The location was great for getting around Whitby. The apartment was clean and modern, with everything you needed for a weekend break.<br/><br/>We had several issues which we raised as soon as we entered the property. It would have been nice to have had them resolved the next day as advised, but they were still outstanding when we left.

10am is to early for check out and 4pm is far to late for check in

Unusually for me, I left some items of clothing in some drawers in the main bedroom as we were rushing to get out on time. This Included some lovely jeans that were a birthday present from my Mum and sister. I asked for them to be forwarded on to me and I offered to pay. Unfortunately they apparently weren’t there as cleaners didn’t find them. This has never happened to us before. We were very disappointed. So make sure you carefully check you’ve cleared all your things in any properties managed by host & stay as you won’t be seeing them again.

Beautiful apartment, tastefully furnished and very close to Whitby centre. Warm when we wanted the heating on and plenty of hot water for baths and showers.<br/>Can't recommend highly enough. <br/>Note two lots of steps if their are mobility issues but nothing to speak of.<br/>Wonderful stay!

Good location, with parking.<br/><br/>The £250:00 damages deposit after we had booked and the £10 non refundable admin charge for the damage deposit. All charges should be clearly visible when making the booking. Also being bombarded with messages about leaving the property as soon as we arrived. We knew when to check out, we didn’t need reminding twice daily.<br/>The lack of privacy in the main living area, there are 2 french doors with no curtains or blinds and you are overlooked from both sides.<br/>Lack of storage space, the hoover and mop and bucket shared the living space with us.

Lovely stay within walking distance to Whitby Centre. Highly recommend this property to anyone considering a trip to the coast.

At first, we didn’t receive any request for a deposit. When we arrived in Whitby and checked Airbnb, we realised that a £250 deposit was required, all of which made checking into the flat very rushed. We struggled to find the address and key box. To be honest, the flat wasn't bad as it wasn't cheap to rent it.

excellent location, parking was a bonus, spacious and had everything we needed.<br/><br/>it was abit tired in places like the bathroom flooring not fitting properly, scuffs and chipped paint in areas. Master bedroom matttress could do with being replaced.

Location was OK and it had a parking space, however the sat nav instructions were poor and took us to the wrong address.<br/><br/>The furniture was cheap and nasty, the bathroom wasn't clean, the mattresses were cheap and beyond their usable life. There were no curtains or blinds at the windows and therefore no privacy from the other properties that directly overlooked Shipwrights. The property lacked storage space, highlighted by the fact the hoover, mop and bucket were in a corner in the kitchen. <br/>Host and Stay physically took a deposit of £250 1-week before arrival and charged me £10 for the privilege (the other option was to pay a £25 insurance fee - another hidden charge!) Some 3-weeks later, despite multiple phone calls, my deposit still has not been refunded. This is tantamount to operating a scam. I would not recommend this property and will avoid Host and Stay on any future bookings.

Everything really.<br/><br/>The patio doors could of had some privacy glass or blinds installed. Just to prevent being overlooked. Just personal preference.

Thank you for a lovely stay. The apartment is very nicely decorated. Love the bedrooms. The location is perfect, really close to the centre of Whitby. It was also a bonus having a parking space. The only negative is a few of the kitchen items needed washing before use as they were dirty.

Shipwrights was lovely. Comfortable beds and a spacious apartment with a well equipped kitchen. Communication with the team at Host and Stay was excellent before and during our visit. Very personal - we didn’t feel anonymous - and attentive. We would certainly recommend and would stay with Host and Stay again.

The location was very good in that only a few minutes walk to the centre of Whitby. Beds were comfy, there was a good deal of space, parking right outside the apartment and the apartment appeared to have everything you needed for a short break.<br/><br/>The apartment had not been cleaned properly as there was mess on the bathroom window, cobwebs throughout the property, marks on all the patio doors and the floor was dirty in places. <br/>Quite difficult to park the car in a tight spot on a small back street especially when there were cars parked on either side of the parking space allocated to this apartment. No views of anything other than other similar properties. <br/>Appears very expensive for what you get when there were better properties in the town centre with sea/harbour views (why you come to Whitby) and lower price.

This is a lovely, modern flat with private parking just a few minutes’ walk from the train station and town centre. <br/><br/>It’s set off the road so it’s really quiet. Bathroom and kitchen are both fitted to a high quality. Communication with host was very good. <br/><br/>Great value, too.

This apartment was perfect, in the ideal location, and had everything you could need for your trip. We celebrated a long birthday weekend in Whitby and its always important to feel comfortable wherever you stay, which is exactly how we felt. we recommend this apartment for long and short term stays, and will be returning in the future.

1st experience of this type of accommodation so was a little wary of what to expect. However, the apartment was stunning, exceptionally clean and even a pint of milk in the fridge for that initial cuppa on arrival. Parking was secure and made a real difference to our stay. Apartment was in a quiet location, only 10 minute stroll to town centre though so handy for everything. Brilliant experience and we had a lovely break away.<br/><br/>No real complaints. Just worthy of a mention is the tv. It claims to have freeview but this is not accurate and you need to log into various tv apps so no live tv other than bbc. However, only really put tv on in the morning during breakfast and last thing at night so not a major issue.

The location is close to the centre. All the amenities within the apartment were all that you could possibly need for our stay.<br/><br/>We found the bed was a little lumpy. Only one of the bedrooms had hanging space for clothes. If there had been more people staying there wouldn’t have been enough comfortable seating.

Self catering so no breakfast available but location was perfect for access into Whitby. <br/>Although we didn't cook the equipment levels were good had we wanted to. <br/>It was a nice touch to find tea coffee and a milk in the apartment <br/>Very easy to walk to the harbour and up to the Abbey. <br/>Being off the main road it was also pleasantly quiet but still very accessible.<br/><br/>The only very minor negative was that the bathroom fan seems to run for ages after using but a really very minor niggle.

Clean, comfortable in a super location.

From the moment we walked in we knew we'd made the right choice. Not clear exactly where the block was for a start but omce parked up the motorbike never moved till we left. Easy 5 minute walk into town. Handy for everything. Already planning a longer stay than the 2 nights we had this trip. Comfy beds, and everything you could possibly need. We were plenty warm enough so possibly benefit from a fan in the bedroom if it was really warm outside..

Have just come back from a lovely stay in Whitby. Perfect location, 1 parking space was a bonus. Very clean and felt brand new. Lovely and warm, everything you needed to enjoy a lovely relaxing break. Lots of pubs, restaurants and shops. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanted to go to Whitby. Thank you for our stay. Very well organised and easy to find and check in and out etc.

Lovely apartment in a perfect location, close to everything you need. Easy walking distance to 199 steps, Whitby Abbey, beach etc. Beautifully decorated inside, easy check in and extremely clean. Would definitely recommend!

Really nice apartment & great location within short walk of town etc. Clean and well maintained. If you visit in summer and have the windows opened be prepared to be woken by seagulls who nest nearby & make a row from 3.30am!

An easy walk into the town and having somewhere to park was definitely a bonus. Very clean and well-equipped. The only downside was that we felt it lacked privacy as the adjoining flat was at a right-angle and both flats could easily see into each other’s living rooms.

Beautiful property and perfect location. Really good communication with the host! We were travelling with an infant and they were really good at sorting both a cot and high chair out for our arrival!
