Recently Refurbished

Welton View was recently refurbished to the highest standard so you can expect beautiful interiors throughout.

The Space
Light streams into the open plan living space from the patio doors which open out to the courtyard. With a luxury, grey velvet sofa and a statement patterned chair, this is the perfect spot to relax with your loved ones. Turn on the flat screen TV to enjoy Freeview channels or lay back with a good book. Beautifully decorated, the living area is complete with a tall plant, light grey rug and botanical wall prints.

Directly behind the living space is the dining area. On trend wicker dining chairs frame the glass table so there is ample room for your party to enjoy meals together. Whether you are making home cooked food in the kitchen or you’re ordering in a takeaway, the dining area allows you to socialise easily with your friends or family.

The modern kitchen is on the right hand side of the open plan space and boasts a sophisticated look. With pale grey cabinets and wooden worktops, the kitchen is fully equipped with everything you could need for your self-catering staycation. There is a dishwasher, washing machine, oven, hob, microwave, toaster and kettle. The space is complete with a coffee machine, silverware and cookware.

Head upstairs and you’ll find two spacious bedrooms and a family bathroom. The master bedroom boasts a king size bed, a balcony and an ensuite shower room. Beautifully decorated, the space includes a powder grey feature wall and premium furnishings. The glass doors open out onto the balcony so you can let the breeze drift in during the warmer months. The ensuite has a walk in shower, basin and WC.

The second bedroom features a comfy double bed with premium bedding and linens. With a warm colour scheme of dusky pink, grey and gold, there is an instant homely feel. The space is complete with matching bedside tables and a black metal rail to hang your clothes.

The main bathroom has a walk in shower, WC and basin.

Along with parking for two vehicles on the driveway, you’ll also find a fenced patio area to the rear of the property.

Neighborhood
Welton View is just a short 10-minute walk into the centre of town. Head to Pier Road and you’ll find cosy pubs, fun arcades and plenty of fish restaurants. Continue along the lively road until you reach the beautiful, blue flag West Cliff Beach which is lined with idyllic beach huts. At the other end of Pier Road, you’ll notice the swing bridge which sits over the River Esk.

Over the bridge, you’ll find yourself on the East bank which is full of narrow medieval streets dotted with boutiques, pubs and even more fish restaurants. Climb the famous 199 steps up to the Church of Saint Mary. You can also discover the renowned ruined Whitby Abbey, which was the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s gothic novel ‘Dracula’.

Step outside of Whitby and you’ll uncover a haven of woodland and moorland. Whitby forms part of the North York Moors National Park so it’s the perfect place for long walks.

Getting Around
The centre of Whitby is a short ten-minute walk from Welton View.

Whitby train station is less than half a mile away so villages and towns along the North Yorkshire coast can easily be reached via rail. There’s also a taxi rank in close proximity to the train station.

There are plenty of bus routes throughout Whitby. Hop on the X4 and you can visit beautiful coastal villages like Sandsend, Runswick Bay and Staithes. The X93 travels along the coast to Scarborough. The 95 route features plenty of quaint villages, such as Grosmont and Lealholm.

Location and parking spaces were great
Place has some good features - plenty of room , 3 toilets , comfortable beds
However I have had to speak to Host and Stay about the cleanliness of the property on arrival. I hope this is rectified for future guests as promised by them .

The distance to the beach

How dirty dusty and full of weeds at front and back the house was

The place itself was fine. It was clean and comfortable to stay in but we were told there was a freezer compartment in the fridge but there wasn't so we had to throw away some frozen food we had brought. There were no tea towels, cleaning products, no bleach. thimble worth of washing up liquid. no floor cloth. mop with no bucket. front and back was covered in weeds. the outside could do with a bit of attention. looks untidy.
some kitchen utensils were unavailable ie.. sieve/colander. no kitchen roll. for what we paid, we were slightly disappointed

Anthony

Clean and well presented internally. A bit tired…in need of a spruce up

Advertised as sea view…you could just see the sea if you leaned over the balcony which had rusty furniture. No kerb appeal…weeds around cracked forecourt and social housing opposite… next door had a skip and rubbish in front garden

Nice place on West Cliff, there is a sea view from the balcony. Walk into Whitby is a pleasant one along the sea front/West Cliff ( get a taxi back it’s all uphill). We have stayed here before and we booked again because it has two spacious parking spots on the drive which is a huge bonus for Whitby. The bathrooms are clean and the showers lovely and there are 3 toilets in the property Down sides:- there is not a freezer compartment in the built in fridge, the two chairs have slightly wobbly legs as does the coffee table and dining table… new furniture would improve this to 5 stars. The walls need a lick of paint in places where there are scuffs especially up the stairs. The outdoor courtyard needs a pressure wash and weeding and the bistro chairs and table on the balcony we’re rusty and unusable ( although I didn’t want to sit out on the balcony anyway) I would definitely book this place again as it’s clean, spacious, comfy and in a good location with awesome parking.

Lovely property was just as advertised. Its a good walk to Whitby centre but not a problem for us. A few marks on the carpet and sofa is not comfortable but overall, house is very clean and communication with owner was fab.

Situated on West Cliff, very convenient for the beach, leisure centre and the Whitby Pavilion. The walk back from the harbour is hilly. Renovation projects unfortunately surround the property, and there is no sea view. Fantastic parking for two cars. The place was very clean but could do with a little TLC from a maintenance department. The lounge has comfortable furniture and there is a large TV and the kitchen is well equipped. The main bedroom has an en suite with a walk-in shower, and there is a family bathroom with a shower. There is a convenient downstairs bathroom. No wardrobes, but there are hanging rails. The beds are comfortable. The nearby Metropole Hotel houses a reasonable Chinese Takeaway and a friendly little bar and on Saturday night there was a pleasant female singer who sang a varied selection of songs - Adele, Amy Winehouse and songs from the musicals. We love Whitby and plan to return to Welton View in a few weeks.

The location is great and provides an easy 10 / 15 minute walk in to the heart of Whitby. The property offers 2 double bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and an additional downstairs WC. We only used the shower in the en-suite and the water pressure was great. It also benefits from 2 off-road parking spaces, which is a rarity for Whitby and a pleasant kitchen area with all the amenities that you could need, e.g. oven, hob, washing machine, dishwasher, etc. The potential of this property is great but it needs some TLC and minor repairs / maintenance to get it back to 5 stars.

First impressions count and when you first arrive at Welton View this is not good. The rear patio area was overgrown with weeds, so much so that I actually weeded it myself, so we could actually use the area as without doing this it was not a useable / pleasant space. It now just needs jet-washing. On opening the rear door to the property where the lock box is located there were missing wall pegs for hanging your coats and the wall was heavily marked and scuffed, the damage to the paintwork extends to other areas as there are scuff marks to the paintwork throughout. It really wouldn't take much to emulsion these areas and remove the screws from the walls where the missing coat pegs were. The carpets are tired, thin and need a really good clean / changing, and although outdoor furniture is provided to the rear patio and upstairs balcony, both sets are so rusted they just need binning. The same goes for the metal vanity unit in the upstairs bathroom as it looks dirty because it is covered in rust and put us off rom actually using it. It needs binning & replacing. The sealant to the shower trays needs redoing as it is stained and again makes it look dirty. The property has great potential and unfortunately in its current state we would not return as it just needs someone to take responsibility for the general repairs & maintenance that are needed rather than just a basic clean between stays.

Really lovely property and ease of access. Price we paid was really good value for money considering what we got. Slightly longer walk to town than we really wanted but gave more than being in town

I knew where they were as I have stayed before.easy to get out of key box and knew which key for each door.
Great free parking outside the door for 2 cars, house is clean and well equipped. Handy for walking into town, only takes approximately 30 mins.

More info for finding the place, such as opposite Welton Court.
Pillows need replacing.
Carpet downstairs is stained and some scuffs on the paintwork, starting to look a bit tired.
Shame there are limited windows to open, only patio doors in main bedroom.

Richard

16/05/2024

Ideal location spotlessly clean

Nothing

Joanne

28/04/2024

All facilities required

Staff on arrival, cleanliness of property and maintenance of property.
Staff on arrival - incorrect information given and sent on a wild goose chase with a very unpleasant and disrespectful staff member. Luckily the second staff member was fine.
Cleanliness- supposedly cleaned by E Casson, all cutlery, kitchen worktops, and crockery was greasy and needed re washed. Bathroom was dirty with rusty accessories. Bathroom floors lifting.
Maintenance - whole house needs re painted and filler/plastered. I understand it a holiday home but the damage is shocking in places.
Central heating - to make the house warm you have to turn on each individual radiator as the CH thermostat was on top of the microwave and not connected to anything. Also minus its batteries????

The apartment was clean, bathrooms and bedrooms good. Facilities were good overall but... See below

The entire house was too hot. It was difficult to turn the heating down/off. And the lack of windows to open made sleeping and relaxing a little more difficult. The lack of a freezer compartment in the fridge was annoying.

16/11/2023

Great location, easy walk into town. Nicely furnished with good amenities. Comfortable. 2 bathrooms and a downstairs loo was a great bonus. Parking space was fantastic, easy to park a large car or space enough for 2.

The apartment wasn't cleaned when we arrived, so we had to go into town and didn't get access until later at 7pm. However Lynzi who I spoke to, was lovely and very polite, she let us check out 2 hours later when we left to make up for this. The bed in the 2nd bedroom is a bit low and this could be difficult for older guests, getting in and out of a low bed, it was quite soft too, although comfortable.

Friends stayed the first night. They had not stayed in whitby before. They loved the accommodation. The weather was wet, unfortunately. But they enjoyed it all the sane.
We were lucky the next 3 days we had lovely weather. We just love the atmosphere of whitby and try get there every year. The flat was clean and tidy. Would recommend the apartment. 2 bedrooms with double beds. Room quite spacious. Would book here again. Balcony to sit out on from bedroom and sea view to the left of it. Bed was very comfy.

Issue with wifi and a pillow that had stuffing falling out. But quickly rectified.

Alan

06/09/2023

The location was excellent being only a short walk from the beach, and having its own parking was a real bonus.

The fridge had no freezer compartment so it was impossible to store frozen items. I thought that this was inconsistent with the advertised claim that the property had a "fully equipped kitchen"

Sophie

04/09/2023

The property was in an ideal location, had everything we needed and was spacious. However, the cleanliness of the property was very poor. The property did not look like it had been cleaned at all upon our arrival and we had to significantly clean each room to make it ok for us to stay. Everything from the bathroom, bedrooms and kitchen area including plates/cups/cutlery were dirty. There was also empty wrappers left in the cupboards, the fridge was filthy and there was hairs all over the the main bathroom. Furthermore, the property requires maintenance- paint was chipped/marked, cracks in ceiling in living room and some items rusted including outside table on the balcony.

Christine

25/08/2023

Clean and modern. Good showers. Plenty of sockets. Good location, 2 mins from promenade. In quieter area. 10-15 mins walk away from harbour and busier parts of town.

Apartment is open plan, which is not a problem, apart from we took our dog. Fortunately we took a stair gate, as there is no way of closing off upstairs.

Karen

21/08/2023

Great location, just off West Cliff, and good to have private parking in Whitby directly outside the property. The property itself is compact for four people but has everything required for a short break. Could do with a little TLC.

John

04/08/2023

Clean and cheerful. Downstairs cloakroom was a bonus.

Nitpicking really but could do with more crockery and a small freezer. Also the weeds in the courtyard need removing.
Building work next door, but we were not disturbed by it.

Herminder

25/07/2023

Good location, fair sized apartment, in general there are good facilities including car parking at the front of the property.

Cleanliness of areas such as the bathroom could have been better, the carpet was dirty in patches, pet hairs were on the furniture and there was a general smell of pets. Yes there is a balcony but the table and chairs provided are rusty and any view toward the right (where the sea can be seen) is obscured by scaffolding and buildings. Also the backyard could do with a little attention and tlc.

There is building/renovation work going on next door meaning the workers were there every morning around 8am in their yellow coloured welfare hut to start. This wasn't mentioned in the write up. Further there is an ongoing long term project of renovation of a very large victorian building a couple of doors away which has a lot of scaffolding around it. Having spoken with a couple who own an apartment in that building the work will be going on for a fair while yet.

Stuart

25/06/2023

A nice little two bed apartment over two floors.
Ideal for access to the beach and sea front as its a 30 second walk to the front.
Plenty of parking.
Close to a nice little park area.
5 - 10 minute walk from the town centre.
Great views of the coast, whitby town and the Abbey all within 1 - 5 minute walk from the apartment.
I would definitely recommend this place for couples or a family with kids who can comfortably live over two floors.
With a pub, ice cream shop and pizza restaurant all within a two minute walk its a good base to explore whitby.

Price

24/06/2023

location was excellent, off street car parking, reasonably well appointed. A Pub & Chinese restaurant next door.

Being of the older generation, getting the suitcases up the stairs waits was a challenge. could do with a clothes line out the back.
The The 3 Story building next door is being renovated, scaffolding all over it & looks like it will be there for many weeks to come

21/05/2023

the location was excellent. There was a driveway so parking was easy. The duplex was very well furnished and comfortable. The beds were comfy and bathrooms were both in good order.

The accommodation was tired and could do with a lick of paint and a few minor repairs to sockets. Annoyingly there was no ice box in the fridge. I can manage without a dishwasher but could do with ice for my holiday G & T.

Just 10 min walk into Whitby, parking & the house had every thing you need. Good size house.

Some of the cutlery & pots were dirty and the carpet could have been vacuumed better.
I received an email the morning that we visited, it had property number 2, could not find and had to ring the office, after nearly an hour trying to find number 2. I was emailed the incorrect house number
These things let the property down.

Good points: spacious. Modern, light, warm & fee parking. Large enough for 4 people. Well equipped kitchen & downstairs with sky TV. Comfortable beds & good hot showers, complimentary tea, coffee, sugar & milk! Bad points: Dirty pots in kitchen cupboards! Lounge chair with lethal loose legs, 2 loose electrical sockets, rusty fittings bathroom, lacks wardrobes etc upstairs, French door bolt loose, no handtowels downstairs loo & kitchen. Needs decorating. While we enjoyed it here it was a long walk into Whitby & had to taxi it back as steep walk back up! Think if this apartment had some maintenance despite the Walk we would give it a go again as it is spacious.

The property is close to sea, you could see it from the balcony. Parking for two cars is excellent. Clean and nice little house.

Really close to the football stadium and there was a match on during our stay, the tannoy and music was really loud. Curtains in the main bedroom are a bit thin and let light in, the handles on some of the doors are really stiff/hard to close/lock.

Apartment lovely and parking excellent plenty of bathroom facilities. Beautifully decorated.well situated away from noisy bars. Was left a pint of milk although not sure if previous tenants. Please don't be put of by negative points it was very good we had a great time .

Balcony unable to use door unable to open enough for use. Nice property, good location, reasonably clean and good facilities, although lacked a few things. Overall very good and I would stay there again but.....

Some doors were difficult to open/close. Some of the kitchen doors don't fit well and there was not a freezer, not even a small one in the fridge. We couldnt have ice in our drinks on the hottest two days in history! That was a real negative in an otherwise pleasant stay. And no egg cups. We like a boiled egg!

Satisfactory accommodation. Good location. In my opinion not ideal accommodation for anyone with children as no bath, kids bowls, plates cups, no baby gates or cot available on site. Requested extra set of bedding as 4 year old spilt a drink of water on bed and was told there would be a call out charge. No more contact from host was made to sort out issue. Disappointed.

Fantastic location, situated just a 2 min walk to the beach (bear in mind this property is situated at the top of West Cliff). The interior was well thought out and atheistically pleasing. Having a well equipped kitchen is also a bonus particularly if you are staying for longer than a couple of days as it included a washing machine and dishwasher...who wants to spend time washing dishes when you're away. Quality of interiors was very good. Property came with 2 parking spaces again a bonus. Great contact from the hosts providing a detailed information pack on the local area which was much appreciated.

So these are only minor things and didn't detract from the 2 night stay.
1. The blinds in the master bedroom were stained and so we didn't use them, the curtains are also very thin, switching these to blackout would make a huge difference to sleep quality.
2. On one of the armchairs in the lounge area the leg was very loose, as a party of 3 we didn't need the seating but this should be checked prior to each guest arrival.
3. Found some hairs in the ensuite bathroom which required us to clean away...not what you want to find
4. Patio area was overgrown with weeds and needed a good sweeping, we didn't use it for this reason

Location was excellent as was the fact that there were 2 parking spaces. Very clean and the 2 bathrooms were very handy.

Could do with some more crockery (coffee mugs and glasses).

Avoid this host. Their lock box would not open to put the keys in at the end of the stay so I posted them through the letterbox. They then tried to change me 'damages' because they didn't have their own set of keys to the property and had to call out a locksmith. The person from on the company was unreasonable and incompetent. Trying to make their problem my problem. Airbnb got involved and they eventually dropped the charge. The argument at the end ruined my trip.

Clean and well equipped with a large comfy bed. Nicely decorated. Downstairs cloakroom was a bonus.

Combi boiler was slightly noisy but not too obtrusive.

great location. spacious apartment

boiler didn’t work properly, had to be controlled from the boiler itself with no thermostat. apartment was either boiling hot or really cold. blinds/curtains in the main bedroom don’t block out light so makes the room very light at night for sleeping.

Great location, as it only took a few minutes to walk into town, but the property could do with some creature comforts for the price.

A great location. We have a small dog and the beach is down a footpath to a great beach. Dogs not allowed on the beach 1st May to 1st Nov but further along believe it’s all year. Short walk to town. The accommodation was very clean and warm with easy access to a parking space at the front. We have a Transporter so didn’t need to drive through the canopy part of the building to park. Would highly recommend this property and we plan to return.

it was a great location

we were disappointed with the decor and lack of kitchen items. the mirror in the master bedroom was filthy, a coat hook was missing so a hole in the wall and there were only 2 champagne glasses, no pint glasses or
tumblers. this was to celebrate so we had to go out and buy
glasses. our towels stunk of grease also. we did make a call and new towels were brought screwed up in a bin liner and were still smelly. 4 tumblers
were also brought over but no other glasses as per our request. this was very disappointing !

Spacious, well presented property with off road parking. Handy for the cliff top path and beach. Just a short reasonable walk into town.

No freezer section in fridge - so no ice for G & Ts. Not the end of the world.

Nice clean modern well appointed property, with parking on site. Well equipped kitchen, one bedroom en suite with small balcony. Other bedroom across from bathroom. Bonus of a cloakroom toilet downstairs. Also Pet friendly.

Second bedroom had blinds but no curtains. Curtains would have been nice to block out more light. Living room had sofa and one chair, additional soft seating would have been beneficial.

The location of the apartment was good and the general equipment was fine

We had no hot water and no central heating for the entire duration of our stay. The host refunded our rental cost but refused to offer any compensation for the great discomfort we experienced. On close examination of the Host Yorkshire website we discovered that the boiler had failed twice in the previous few weeks - there is no way they should have rented out this property when there is clearly a major problem with the boiler. Freezing cold water and no heating is no joke in late-October

This apartment is of good quality in a nice location. Our stay of 4 days was totally ruined by the fact that we had no hot water or central heating for the entire stay. Freezing cold showers and cold rooms are no fun for 4 70 year olds on what was meant to be an important holiday. What really annoyed us however was the fact that when we examined the feedback on the Host and Stay website we found that the boiler had failed twice in the last 5 weeks before our stay leaving the tenants in the cold as we were. There is clearly a fundamental fault with the boiler and the company had no right to let it to us when they knew perfectly well that there had been serious issues before. They sent their maintenance man then the next day a plumber - both said there was nothing they could do as a specialist from the manufacturer would be required. We spent time on two of the four days of our stay trying to find alternative accommodation but there was simply noting available which had two bedrooms and was dog-friendly. The company refunded our rental but flatly refused to offer some compensation for a ruined holiday and time wasted trying to sort out their problem, Pretty shabby behaviour in our opinion.

great location with everything you could need. comfortable bed and very good en-suite. kitchen was good size with full oven, hob and microwave.
we were just looking for a nice comfortable place to stay with our dogs for a short last minute break and this was ideal.

The boiler wasn’t working when we arrived so no hot water or heating until early evening. we were told a boiler man was coming to the property that evening but not informed of the issues , had we known we would have stayed out longer. The patio yard could benefit from a bolt for additional security.
Property was clean and tidy though had to wash all the crockery and utensils before use as these hadn’t been cleaned thoroughly or checked.

Hopefully cleanliness will be better than it was for my booking , given that they ask guest to clean up and wipe down all services ( covid reasons) I doubt that a though clean is being done and suspect they are relying on guest to clean before they leave.

Really modern and stylish place to stay! Located conveniently near the sea front and a short 10-15 min walk to the centre of Whitby. All cleaning products, kitchen equipment, bedding, towels, toiletries etc provided which was great. Really good fast communication with the host.

Home Truths

The property doesn't have a bathtub but it does benefit from a walk in shower.
