The Space
Adventure House has been lovingly refurbished to create a homely yet stylish space. With clean and charming interiors, this stunning holiday home provides the perfect base for exploring Whitby.
The spacious open plan kitchen and dining room is the hub of the house. Pale sage cabinets are complemented with light wood worktops to create a quaint, country style kitchen. The statement black, range cooker contrasts perfectly with the vintage style tiles above. Complete with a kettle, microwave, toaster, fridge, dishwasher and coffee maker, the kitchen is fully equipped for all self-catering stays.
The dining area features a white wooden table and matching chairs. Blending seamlessly with the country style of the kitchen, the furniture works well within the open plan space. Whether you’re dining with family or friends, you can enjoy home cooked meals or tuck into a takeaway in this very spot.
Head to the living room and you’ll find a cosy and welcoming space. With two comfy sofas and an armchair, you can retreat here at the end of your day to spend quality time with your loved ones. Whether you’re playing games or watching the flat screen TV, you’ll soon relax in this space. With crisp white walls and light wood furniture, there is a calming and restful feel. The houses’ original charm is retained with its striking fireplace which works wonderfully in the otherwise modern room.
Take the stairs up to the first floor and you’ll find two bedrooms and the family bathroom. The master bedroom boasts a comfortable double bed and an en-suite shower room with WC. The second bedroom also features a comfy double bed with premium bedding and crisp linens. You can expect the same attractive look as the rest of the house in both spaces. The family bathroom features a bath with overhead shower, WC and basin.
On the second floor, there are a further two bedrooms and a cloakroom with a WC and hand basin. In one room, you’ll find a comfortable king size bed and sloped ceilings to create a really cosy space. You'll also have spectacular views of Whitby Abbey from the window. The second bedroom is a twin and features beautiful, flowered wallpaper.
Neighborhood
Adventure House is located in the iconic Flowergate - one of the oldest and most historic streets in Whitby. You’ll find cosy cafes, restaurants and shops lining the street, so the apartment is ideally located.
The Blue Flag West Cliff beach and promenade is just a short 5-minute walk from the property. On Pier Road, you’ll find fun arcades and plenty of fish restaurants where you can sample the catch of the day.
The other side of Whitby is full of narrow, medieval streets dotted with boutiques and pubs. Climb the famous 199 steps up to the Church of Saint Mary. You can also discover the renowned ruined Whitby Abbey, which was the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s gothic novel ‘Dracula’.
Step outside of Whitby and you’ll uncover a haven of woodland and moorland. Whitby forms part of the North York Moors National Park so it’s the perfect place for long walks.
Getting Around
Adventure House is located in the centre of Whitby so the town can easily be explored on foot.
Whitby train station is just a short 10-minute walk away so villages and towns along the North Yorkshire coast can easily be reached via rail. There’s also a taxi rank in close proximity to the train station.
There are plenty of bus routes throughout Whitby. Hop on the X4 and you can visit beautiful coastal villages like Sandsend, Runswick Bay and Staithes. The X93 travels along the coast to Scarborough. The 95 route features plenty of quaint villages, such as Grosmont and Lealholm.

Fab location, very clean amd comfortable. Jad everything we needed. Views from most of the bedrooms were lovely of the abbey. I went for a run most mornings along the beach. Shower in tje ensuite was lovely amd powerful
. Couldnt work out the free parking, but paid less than 3 pounds per day. There was a great little unloading area nearby to unpack, but the parking was really close so we didntNeed to use it when we left

We had a wonderful couple of nights here. The location is very central and close to a decent supermarket. We hadn't realised that there were 3 WCs which was a bonus! It was well equipped.

Excellent location. Lovely cottage with plenty of home comforts & 3 toilets was great when there was a group of us.
More obvious note to be careful where you park as cannot use permit for street zone directly outside property. We made this mistake & got parking tickets. Would be good to have an obvious note to warn people.

This was one of the best houses we've stayed at on Airbnb. Fantastic location, lovely house, reasonably priced. For those with toddlers, be warned that you will need to move things out of the bedroom and the stairs are quite steep with no stairgates. But this is a small price to pay.

It was a lovely cosy cottage right in the thick of town. It's down an entry to a very quiet back street. Everything was on your door step or on the next street. The heating was on for us, so arriving on a cold winter afternoon it was great.
We had a lot of luggage as I was working on the Saturday, so parking 2 streets over was a pain.
If it was just a holiday with normal luggage it wouldn't have been an issue. After a long weekend of working and socialising, an optional later checkout than 10am would have been fantastic.

Location is perfect right in the centre of Whitby. House was lovely and warm even through storm Arwen. Fitted 6 adults in nicely, would have been cramped with any more. Enjoyed the coffee maker. Very quiet even though central.
No complaints with the house but a bit unhappy with the booking process, the contract seemed very skewed towards the agent and a bit surprised we had to upload selfies and copies of driving license - not had to go through this with other bookings.

The location was fantastic, the cottage was really clean and cosy, 7 of us stayed and there was plenty of room.
1 more shower would have been good but that's more personal choice.

Proximity to the town. Able to manage without the car. Bathrooms on 2 floors
Kitchen diner nice.
Accommodation a bit small for 8 people. Some carpets were stained.
Car parking problems - no Zone W parking available. Promised additional scratch cards we paid for were not provided. Refund was provided promptly on request however.

Lacation was great and it was good value for money.
It probably could do with a little money spending on the property to give it a more modern feel. And could do with the carpets cleaning.

Brilliantly located for all the amenities. With fantastic views of the Abbey. We were prepared for difficulties with parking and found a pay car park round the corner on ‘back St Hilda’s Terrace’, this took the panic out of finding a street parking space.
Found a tremendous Thai restaurant by the station (Kamthai, also did takeaway)! Recommend sitting in Cafe Java at the end of the street with a coffee to do lots of people and dog watching!

The 2 windows in the 2 top bedrooms wouldn't open? We were looking out to a building that was been renovated, not the best view

Location and colour scheme -2 fridges - beautiful kitchen
The property windows at the very top did not open and very hot - notices re putting rubbish in colour coded bags but no bags - dog found items under the seatee’s and daughter had black sole of feet after a shower and walking around the floors- so cleaning questionable - took sheet off bed when going found a yellow stain on mattress protector I had been sleeping on

The windows were the only issue. Everything else was perfect, location and how clean the property was. Thank you.
We couldn't find a key to open the windows in the top bedrooms of the house. So the people in them rooms were very hot whilst trying to sleep due to the recent weather.

Location was excellent, right in the heart of Whitby. Adventure House is a beautiful property, with plenty of room for 6 adults. A real home from home, with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Visited Whitby many times, but this was the first time for staying and would definitely stay again and recommend this property.
Arriving at 5pm proved difficult to easily find spaces in W zones for parking. After driving around for 20 mins we found a space on West Cliff, but then had a 2nd car so had to use the free spaces in Spring Vale. That area was actually easier and only a 5-7 min walk back to the house. After speaking with the parking warden on day 3 we realised that we could sometimes park in H zones with a disc that could be provided free from most local shops, maybe this information could be provided for future guests?

House was in the middle of town but parking is a disaster
House had a bad ‘damp dog’ smell, particularly downstairs.
Lights in top floor too low.
Blinds in both top floor bedroom missing cord to pull back up.
As fee included extra cleaning why were we expected to do more cleaning ourselves, and cleanliness of house disappointing, especially bedrooms.

It said on the site that there was no car parking, but really there was no direct access by car either. Not ideal when you have 2 elderly people and all our luggage to unload and take to the accommodation via a ginnel, when there is no where to park on the street either when it was busy.
As above really. The shower dial in the ensuite was too stiff to turn on so we all ended up using the only other shower in the property. It said bathroom on the top floor but it was only a toilet and basin and no shower. The window blind fell off in one of the top rooms, which wouldn't have been a problem other than there was building work going on in front of the accommodation and scaffolding where the builder could see straight in to the room so had to put a blanket up the window, which wasn't ideal, because it meant we couldn't open the window for 2 nights until the blind was fixed.

The decor of the property was beautiful and unexpected and I've never seen a holiday property so well equipped with kitchen items. It made us feel like cooking!
The double bed on the top floor was too soft for me so I ended up sleeping in a spare single bed on the same floor

Amazing property, clean fresh and convenient house in the heart of Whitby. The property is well managed, cleaned to a high standard and in guidelines for the covid 19 pandemic. The property has a modern and unique feel to it and is very modern. The rooms are spacious, beds we’re comfortable and nice and clean. The property comes with everything you could possibly need from a dishwasher, coffee machine, popcorn maker, gas central heating and Gas open fire. Furniture was clean, cosy and comfortable in the lounge large dining table and kitchen stocked with all needed utensils and pottery with included extras of Tea, coffee, sugar and extra sauces. The property is a large sized house with 3 floors however you would need to be mobile to use these facilities as there isn’t a lift. Only downside to the property was the slow WiFi. We was given WiFi details prior to arriving however that WiFi was not available so had to use the free standard WiFi and it kept dropping signal especially if you’re staying in the third floor bedroom. Parking was convenient within the W parking zones. Easy check in & check out via a tablet in the lounge, welcome book, covid 19 app QR code and parking permit left for our arrival additional parking of more than one car is chargeable of £5 per additional parking permit however this is the cheaper option of using pay and display. I was given check in details 7 days prior to my arrival with the code for the key safe and useful parking details enabling me to plan my route and find near by tourist attractions before my arrival. Nice quiet place, easy to locate and access. The little angle pub was a added bonus over road from the property had a nice friendly and welcoming feel. 5***** service from stay North Yorkshire letting company good communication and nothing was too much when requesting information or needed to contact them. Really recommend this property and will be back in the near future for a stay at this house.

The house was gorgeous, very modern but homely and comfortable and it was very clean. It had everything we needed. There was milk and tea/coffee making provision that lasted our 3 day stay. The location was briliant. 5 minute walk from the harbour bridge so walking distance for what we needed. The instructions for contactless check-in were great and we had no problem finding the place.

Adventure House is convenient for just about everything, as it is situated a short walk down the hill to the bridge in the centre of the town. The cottage is warm and scrupulously clean. Freshly laundered sheets and lovely fluffy towels. The stairs could be a problem if you have mobility issues, but we are in our 80's and we managed without too much trouble. We slept on the top floor and there is a lovely view of the Abbey. Comfortable lounge with Wifi etc and a decent sized TV. The kitchen has just about everything anyone could ever need. Very impressive. The property company kindly contacted us to see if we needed anything. I have no hesitation in recommending Adventure House when you are staying in Whitby.

A lovely place to stay. The host had gone to the trouble to put in extra touches such as having pack up boxes in the kitchen and milk in fridge for a cup of tea on arrival.
