Modern Industrial @ Golden Lion Apartments

The location was very central, great view of part of the abbey from the lounge window. Lovely clean apartment. Lovely touch that there was a carton of milk in the fridge on arrival.

This is a really cool modern apartment right I. The heart of Whitby and down at harbour level not up on the cliff like many apartments. It was a really enjoyable stay, I just with I was there on holiday and not just passing through for work

no hot water so unable to shower had to leave on the Sunday to get shower at home only a 2 day break poor

Great place to stay, couldn’t be any better location wise. Comfy bed and plenty of amenities.

Had a fab 4 nights

The outer door to all the apartments was a code access. The lock on the inside of the door is a Yale type lock and on one occasion the people who had entered before us had dropped the latch making the code access system inoperable and we were locked out and had to spend the night in our car. The 24hr emergency number was useless as nobody got back to us until 9.04am the next morning. When I pay for 7nights, I expect to get 7 nights, not 6 and a night sleeping rough.

The apartment is great, looks exactly like the photos and is perfect for a stay in Whitby. It is nice to be able to see the swing Bridge out of the windows and the location couldn't be any better!

Great view from room. Very good customer care in terms of extras e.g. milk provided, coffee pods provided etc. Even better were the parking permits provided.
Bed was slightly uncomfortable. Location of the flat was very central but next to pub so came back on first night to find two drunks outside the door with one having urinated in the corner. They did apologise though ....

Excellent location right in the heart of Whitby town fantastic views of the river. Clean and modern apartment with all the facilities you need for self catering. Rooms are a decent size with underfloor heating. Welcome pack with all the instructions for all the appliances. Good size bathroom with modern suite. Comfy clean bedroom. Great communication via text/email regarding our stay. Pets welcome ?? We have been visting Whitby for several years and have stayed in the most popular hotels/b&b's and the Golden Lion is by far the best we have ever stayed in. Definitely 5 stars ????????
Lack of wardrobe space, only 6 clothes/coat hooks ( 3 in the bedroom and 3 in hallway), Bedroom consists of bed, 2 bedside tables and chest of draws (3 draws). Its understandable that you can't' fit a wardrobe in but the bedroom would benefit from the removal of the hooks in the bedroom and replaced with a wall mounted clothes rail.

Perfect location, right in the centre, 1 min walk to the harbour and 5 min walk to the beach. Stunning apartment with everything you could possibly need. Beautifully decorated. Amazing shower.

Very comfortable in all respects. The kitchen is great, with enough equipment to actually use it and cook meals. Great shower!
We struggled to get in on our first night, and had to call a couple of people for help. The door has an electronic lock with a display which says “show card” on it. In order to access the keypad to enter the code you do not need to show a card, but just cover the card reader with your palm. This was a little confusing, and could have been made clearer.

Very nice little apartment, really clean and in a very convenient location.

Only downside was noise, the noise from the flat above was really loud, sounded like a heard of elephants doing aerobics and unfortunately our fellow guests seemed to be awake all night. The floors above must be hard floors and there are roller doors and the toilet makes a noise like someone is drilling through the ceiling when it is flushed. I'm pregnant and tired a lot so it was maybe a bad choice for us, but if you were in town to stay out late drinking and then sleep like the dead then it would be a perfect choice!

Really lovely stay. It didn’t feel like anything was missing. Very noisy seagulls one morning but you can’t do much about that! Fantastic location, easy check in/out process. Price reasonable for Whitby.

Location was brilliant and the free parking was good. Very easy access and keyless which was even better!
The bed was extremely uncomfortable which put such a downer on our stay and we couldn’t wait to get back to our own! Which is such a shame because the location and place was beautiful. Could of done with spare pillows and a blanket. It was quite noisy, but I do not think it would have kept us up if the bed was comfortable as we would have probably slept through it.

The heating needs looking at, the main area wasn't as warm as the bedroom.
Please advise customers that the key pads are activated by putting your hand over it. We had to ring up, not clear on instructions sent out.
The bed was a little too hard for us.

We enjoyed our stay this weekend. The accommodation is amazingly located right in the centre of Whitby.
The only concern was the noise of guests walking around in the apartment above. Maybe carpeting would help this.
Having said that the accommodation was superb and we would stay again !

The location was amazing, close to everything. Interior was lovely and had everything you needed.
The access at the main front door is a little misleading as there’s two possible key pads, one which is metal which holds something inside and a digital one which has the word ‘card’ on it on the door. So we presumed the code was for the metal box and would get the card to gain access…but if you hold your hand up to the digital key pad it lights up with numbers.

Maybe a sign on the old door advising that it's not in use and to go to the other door.

Too many tight steps up to the apartment, bed & pillows too hard, heating didn't work, excessive noise from flat above, free parking miles away and all full, had to pay for harbour car park!

Perfect location to start our walk around Cumberland Way.
no USB charger plug/plate for the iPhone - would have made a huge difference for us.

The apartment is in a nice central location and handy for getting out and about in Whitby and beyond. The on street parking is not too far away.

In the notes there is a warning on noise. The lounge fronts on to the main street but the bedroom is at the back and is nice and quiet and so personally I did not find this an issue

Location in centre of Whitby was convenient for our short stay. Apartment facilities good and lived the decor. We used pay & display parking as the free parking was further away ( but at £10 for 24 hours, no issue)

Very disappointng be aware the is a lot of building work going on right near the bedroom of this apartment and they wake you up at 7am,along with the seagulls, the flat has a rental management company Host & Stay North Yorkshire, we only managed to stay 2 nights apparently the apartment was brand new & developed a leak whilst we were there, the rental company were not great they turned up to look at it and basically turfed us out of the apartment, then it took them all day to get back to us to tell us that we had to leave as they were switching the water off. They found us a replacement place which they stated was 30-40 minutes away from whitby which was actually 45 minutes away (Saltburn by The Sea) and expected us to stay there without even seeing it, we had to chase them for the picutres we were left with no choice but to move mainly because they got in touch with us so late. The new place was beautiful but extremely difficult to find with no accurate or clear instructions as this was also brand new, all in all a pretty stressful start to our 1 weeks holiday and for all the distruption and hassle we had they had the cheek to offer us a 25% discount if we booked another stay through them NO THANKS not the way you treat your customers. Salt burn on Sea is beautiful and has a beautiful beach we would definately stay in that area again and the apartment there but sadly wouldnt want go throught this managment company even with 25% off!.

Our stay in the Golden Lion Apartments was incredibly disappointing and we left feeling like we had wasted £300 a night on accommodation that was very overpriced.
We stayed in the Modern Industrial apartment, which they have done a great job at attempting to make very nice, but the apartment has many flaws and it didn’t feel like it was ready yet for guests.
The water in the shower does not go down the drain whilst you are showering, so you’re standing in a pool of water the entire time you shower.
The floors are paper thin, we were kept awake every night by the people staying above us, we could hear their full conversations and every footstep would shake our ceiling.
The ceiling lights in the apartment between the bedroom and the lounge room are on a sensor, with no switch, so if you’re staying in the apartment with a dog like we were, every time you’re dog moves around during in the night the bright lights turn on. They also sometimes turned on when the people in the apartment upstairs would walk, the vibrations would trigger the light.
The flat screen television in the apartment didn’t work, it didn’t appear to have been set up properly and the remote didn’t work for the tv. They had someone come over to try and fix it but it still didn’t work. The television screen was also smashed in the corner which looked like it may have happened when it was installed.
The bedroom is also overlooked by properties behind, so if you have the blinds open people can see straight in. Including workman currently on the scaffold next door. So you have to keep the black out blinds closed and have no natural light. Some sheet curtains over the black out blinds to keep closed during the day would provide some privacy.
The apartment was generally very dusty with residue from the recent building works, all the indoor plastic plants still had tags on them like it had all been finished very rushed.
