BED was comfortable
Close to beach pubs and restaurants

Accommodation was dirty dusty and cobwebs all over to get to it you had to go round the back down a poorly lit alleyway no view from the windows

Lovely flat, with all the amenities. Warm, cozy and had everything we needed.

The key code was tricky, as we hadn't taken out their own insurance. Once we had, we were able to get the keycode, which was odd.

Total shambles. I went to check in at the property and found there was someone currently staying there on the dates I had booked. They had apparently called the police on this individual (which they hadn’t) when I tried to push them as I needed somewhere to stay having booked for 4 nights and was told to simply “just book another hotel”. I had already booked a hotel? Shocking way to treat customers and a total disregard for the basics of booking a hotel. If you book a room, the bare minimum is to expect that the room will actually be available for you to stay there?

The flat was very cosy, comfortable and in a good location within the town. It was well equipped.

There was no direct car parking available at the property, but there was local parking available where you can park for up to 72hrs. The steps up to the flat are quite steep so would not suit anyone with any mobility issues.

Although on the high street, we found it quiet. Parking to unload and load was easy. The apartment is very much as described and shown in the photos.

Had a lovely 2 night stay at the old courtroom flat. Flat was spotless, bed comfortable, kitchen well stocked with usual cooking utensils.
Biggest problem was finding/ getting to flat though arrived on a dark, raining night and struggled with one way system .
Would definitely like to stay there again.

The entrance and the yard are in a bad state, but most annoying was that every time I went in or out I had a problem with the doors.

normally we would have one email of confirmation from Booking.com
I was spammed with several (10+) Host and Stay e-mails
I was forced to pay an additional £30 damage insurance before I could get the key code -that's just robbery
In future, Host and Stay's behaviour has put me off any property that they may host. if Booking.com refers me to a host and stay I will cancel the booking

It basically did the job. Close to shops

Everyone mentioned the terrible dingy lighting, but they've done nothing about it. It's gloomy and strains the eyes. No under cupboard lights in the kitchen, plus no working lights in cooker hood, makes preparing a meal hard work. Dusty. The heating was a mystery and there are no instructions for anything. The bed was small and the mattress hopelessly soft, with no support at all, which meant bad backs all week. The sofa bed in living room was the other extreme and no good for relaxing or sleeping on. Very heavy windows with no sash cables or fixed shut. The court yard is grotty and the gate sticks, which gets very irritating. The wardrobe is nonsense. The 'shabby-chic' headboard is just... shabby.
I don't know about Host & Stay, but if you go through Booking.com, you won't find out till AFTER you've booked that you'll have to pay a £250 damage deposit.. They take it 2 weeks before and you don't get it back till '7 days after' (14 days...). This is administered by a bunch of incompetents called Superhog, who charge you £10 (non-returnable) for the privilege.

Pleasant apartment near to the harbour. Nice big TV. Didn't eat in town so can't comment on the local eateries.

Slightly uncomfortable, narrow sofa, and not being able to see out of the windows (although maybe there was nothing to see)!

Jennifer

02/10/2023

It was really nicely decorated. Lots of space and really cosy/comfortable. TV with all the apps you could need on it. Located on Amble Main Street so you have everything you could need. Parking £3 for 24 hours, so that was great. Nothing bad to say at all.

The only slightly negative but not really as it clearly states on the advert. The steps to the property aren’t suitable if you have any mobility issues. Quite steep and handrail quite far away from door handle.

The property was as described . It was clean, well equipped and comfortable to be in. It was easy to get the keys and the parking that is mentioned is actually not a problem. It was quite well situated to get to the places we wanted to visit . It would be a romantic flat in winter when dark outside as it is cosy but not so good when glorious summer and want to open windows and get fresh air.

The majority of the windows have no view as they are frosted or high up so it can feel dark at times and the outside space is not the nicest of places to sit. It says its a flat up stairs but it doesn't say that you can't see anything from the windows apart from a roof so once in there you could be anywhere. So a good flat to use as a base to visit the local areas but not for staying in longer as a place to have a quiet afternoon looking out at local scenery or reading your book in the courtyard which we wanted to do one day so went back out to a local beach. The steps are particularly steep which they do mention -wouldn't want to use them in bad icy weather and we are fit and able.

The property had been setup nicely and met the description. The kitchen was well equiped. The location of the property was good and there were a number of shops (mainly independent traders) close by on Queen Street. We were able to park in the street outside the property overnight from 5pm to 10am. During the day (9am to 5pm) there are parking restrictions (1 hour limit with no return within an hour) but parking is free. There is a free car park at the bottom of the street (restricted to 1 hout with no return within 2 hours). There is free street parking on Leazes Streen (near the harbour).

The lighting in the kitchen was dim and a couple of the lights didn't work. The yard hadn't been maintained and there were a number of dead plants in the pots. There were some fairy lights that had fallen down and were lying on the floor. I've asked the Host & Stay team to look into these problems.

the location was great and the tv was decent.

first of all hard to navigate and find which property you are staying at ? as it is unclear when you first arrive. There is no instructions to property you are staying at .
extremely dusty ? especially in the bedroom ? avoid bedroom at all, costs like we did unless you want a tickly nose ? had to move bed to clean and hoover twice and it still wasn’t an adequate place to sleep because of the dust filthy behind cabinet drawers, high ceilings meant high clumps of dust in every corner of the room, useless wardrobe space pitch black bedroom with dim lighting ? the place obviously hasn’t been cleaned in a long time ? terrible dim, lighting all the way through property avoid if you don’t like spiders because there were a lot. crumbs all over rug and sofa.couldn’t reach the windows to open as they were too high. extremely noisy on Saturday night with the pub being opposite the building. Avoid at all costs ! ?

We had a lovely stay in Amble and the surrounding area with the apartment meeting expectations. I was a bit unhappy about hidden costs though! The apartment is managed by a booking agent who, after I had paid Airbnb in full, contacted me to say I needed to take out mandatory insurance through them (either £25 insurance cover or £250 deposit for any damage which incurred a £10 admin fee). I chose the cheaper option, paid the £10 admin fee and deposit of £250, which took a week to be reimbursed to my bank account after my stay.
I've used Airbnb numerous times and have never been required to do this and feel a bit perturbed about these arrangements which would have effected my decision on where to stay.

It's 5 minutes walk from my son's family so location perfect for me. Amble is a great town. Lots of chip and takeaway shops and plenty of restos and tea rooms too. The flat is apparently an interior designer's demo work. Beautiful deco and some gorgeous things in there. (See comments below re lights.. they've overdone the mood thing) Lovely bathroom and kitchen. Big TV that works well. Basic coffee supplies and huge modern fridge. 2 supermarkets nearby. (Couple mins walk - Tesco downhill open late on Sunday) A microwave and cooker, pleasing crocks. Plenty of nice cushions etc. A few books.

THE LIGHTING is totally inadequate. Very trendy but expecting someone to grope about in semi darkness in WINTER is ridiculous. Please go in there with some decent light bulbs and a tall ladder before the next poor visitor arrives. I needed a torch to find undies in the drawer and considered taking chair into the bathroom to read my book. Side lamps helped but trendy no shade design made them very glarey. No views from windows (but that's consistent with location). I didn't manage to control the heating properly in 6 days (weather was cold that week) as super sophisticated Nest heating system needed considerable skill to operate. Big radiators did well when i persuaded them to warm up. Steep steps outside, but again there's no alternative in this location. (It's SECOND set of steps, metal ones are for a different flat!) I probably wouldn't stay there again in winter but I would in the summer. A B and B with resident host would be better in the cold and dark!

Location was perfect for us. Shop next door was great. Beautiful walks in either direction. Enjoyed the pubs and thought everyone was super friendly and happy!!! Had some excellent meals out. Seafood of course exceptional. Feel replenished for return to work.

Arriving in in the dark and finding we had to negotiate an unlit side passage. Had to ring to ask if we were in right place!
Needed some warning of initial entrance ! Should have some security lighting!!! Once through second gate was fine as security light came on then.

Once we established that we had found the correct apartment bringing in luggage and negotiating obstacles en route (my husband caught a corner of piece of Garden furniture) we were very happy with accommodation.

It was badly lit and heated. Beautiful decor, but temp never got above 17 degrees and although the lamps in the lounge and bulbs throughout were stylish, they didn’t actually enable reading or seeing what we were eating at the dining table.

Rebecca

31/10/2022

Lovely modern apartment. Cosy and warm. Very central. Love the high ceilings and modern decor. Felt very at home.

The outside seating area is not so appealing. You can tell that the owners probably made a lot of effort to build it out of pallet wood and would have looked nice nd trendy originally but not hard wearing. But with so much on the door step we didn't feel the need to sit outside.

14/10/2022

It was in a location that suited us. It was nicely decorated. It was clean and comfy. The guide book that I could put on my home screen was useful. The kitchen had everything we needed. We liked how easy the Nest heating was to adjust.

We thought the kitchen area could do with another light - it was a bit gloomy. We walked around in socks and bare feet and noticed that some nails on the floor could benefit from being knocked in a bit more. These are small things, though.

Jean

27/09/2022

Good location with some excellent restaurants nearby and a very good deli selling fruit and vegetables next door if you wanted to eat in.
Kitchen was quite well equipped although the vegetable knives could have done with sharpening - I had to buy a bread knife to cut breakfast rolls. Pleased to find a nespresso machine!
Bathroom was clean with a nice simple shower that heated up very quickly. Good sized drawers below the sink meant we could unpack all our toiletries. No shaver point though.
Staying in September, we were glad to be able to easily turn on the heating if needed.

The entrance to the flat was very shabby, the wooden gate was broken, there was a sort of crate in the way and lots of cobwebs. It gave a bad first impression and I can't imagine anyone wanting to sit out there, even with fairy lights!
Our main complaint was the ridiculously low level of lighting. I needed a torch to get my clothes out of the drawers in the bedroom and surely a kitchen where food is prepared should be well lit?

The flat was central to the town and quite near to the good restaurants and the quays. The bathroom was well done and clean.
The flat was clean in essential areas.
The bed was comfortable.
The kitchen is adequate.
WiFi and TV etc..very good.

The flat is accessed through a dirty yard behind shops and up 16 steep stone steps which are tricky with luggage and needs full physical mobility.
The flat is painted in very dark blue in hall, kitchen and bedroom which would be OK if there was adequate lighting. The lack of light is so low in the kitchen as to be dangerous.
Bedroom is tiny.
Wardrobe set up needs a complete rethink. Hanging rails are set far too high in one case and so low in the other case that an ordinary shirt can't be hung up.
Everything very dusty.
Very cheap resources such as toilet roll there. Not what I would expect for £152 a night in lower season ,I'd rather stay in an hotel.
The flat is styled as 'industrial ' which is ok but also gives an excuse for some poor finishes, holes in the floor where pipe work has been and in the kitchen where extractor hose is meant to be.
Some impractical choices in furnishings, curtains and kitchen surfaces which are difficult to use and manage for cleaning.
There are no views from the windows. Rooftops only and nothing through the old safety glass windows.
This property doesn't match its photos.

Great apartment, just what we needed for a base to explore the Northumberland coast.
Comfy bed, cosy set up, we really liked the lights in the living room, tv is impressive and WiFi. The photos don’t do the apartment justice.
We would stay here again.

We were looking forward to relaxing in the yarden as it looked lovely in the photos but in reality it was a mess; overgrown and dead plants. The corner seating area looked like it would break if you sat on it. It needs a good tidy up and some nice waterproof cushions putting out, as well as some new plenum. Also the fairy lights didn’t work which was a shame.
As someone else mentioned, no welcome pack which is unusual for self catering accommodation nowadays.
I personally didn’t like not being able to see out of the windows. It was also noisy at night with the lively pub across the road so it meant sleeping with the window closed, not ideal when it’s so hot!

Apartment is great and conveniently located in the middle of Amble's busy centre, close to shops, pubs and restaurants (the Cock & Bull real ale bar and the Indian and Italian restaurants are particularly recommended). Also Amble provides a good centre for exploring the area.
Apartment is clean, comfortable and quiet, and adequately equipped.
If you intend to use your car to go out each day, judicious time management will allow you to use the on-street parking outside the flat (parking is restricted between 09.00 and 17.00, but is permitted every night and all day Sunday).
If you expect to be coming and going during darkness, bring a torch to negotiate the entrance and exit procedure!
