The Space
Set over two floors it compromises a generous 161.5 square foot living space with lounge area and workspace, plus a smart TV loaded with Netflix. There are also over 50 carefully selected art, fashion and photography books to browse as well as a Pac-Man arcade game to play on. There are floor to ceiling blackout curtains and blinds throughout. The 107 square foot kitchen includes a Nespresso machine, a Bose sound dock and all necessary utensils and appliances as well as a breakfast bar for those that wish to eat at The Artists Pad during their vacation. The Hallway has a unique striped floor and houses unique and collectable artworks, whilst on the landing there is a reading area complete with another section of books and bespoke furniture by Adam Clarke, a local artist trained at the Royal Academy of Art. The master bedroom, with visible beams, is a generous 86 square foot and houses a kingsize bed with Eve mattress, a smart tv, double wardrobe and a vanity station with hairdryer as well as an ottoman to store your things. The window is covered with a blackout vellum blind. The second bedroom features a standard double bed with a hanging rail designed from driftwood found on the shore of Saltburn beach. The view from the bed offers clear skies to wake up from and start your day with the calm you need. At night, simply pull down the blackout blind and enjoy your dreams in complete darkness. The 97 square foot bathroom has a freestanding roll top bath and a walk in shower as well as shelves to store you toiletries to make for a comfortable stay. The Artists Pad will offer you the most unique staying experience whilst in Saltburn-by-the-Sea and is a space that will be constantly evolving through decoration, artwork and furniture, meaning you’ll want to visit our little place more than just once.

Everything apart from the second bedroom.

Second bedroom - almost no storage, very dark, 2 ‘useless’ lamps as there was nowhere appropriate to plug them in. The sliding way is fun but adds nothing, whilst a chest of drawers, or even shelves, would!

The apartment is fantastic, really quirky and much more spacious than on the photos. We relaxed straight away, it was light and airy and despite being on a central street in Saltburn it was really quiet at night. The Alexa in the kitchen is great to play tunes and the extra touch of providing a plate for us to draw on to then be placed on the wall was great.

We loved the decor and the Pacman machine was fun! It was easy to park for free close to the apartment and checking in was easy.

We loved eating at Seaview Restaurant and No 23 (Pizza) and the atmosphere in The Gunns Bar was great, we also enjoyed the Ship Inn. We would definitely return!

It would be better if the check out was a little later than 10am, even 11am. A text is sent in the morning of check out asking you to leave by 10am which felt a little unnecessary when its already well advertised that you need to depart by then. A more leisurely check out would have definitely been welcomed.

The wifi was a little sketchy too, so we were unable to watch some channels, although a reboot did seem to help.

Fabulous, quirky and spacious apartment very central to Saltburn. The apartment is very well equipped and furnished. The only negatives for us were there are no hooks to hang coats and no drawers in the bedroom, so socks underwear and tees etc were all piled up on a chair!! Wet coats on the balustrade will possibly spoil the owners decor.
We arrived to find smelly dirty pots in the dishwasher and a dirty toilet brush. The hosts quickly responded and dealt with the dishwasher and took away, but didn’t replace the offending loo brush!! The issues didn’t spoil the visit though. We would defiantly return.

Funky, well designed, unique. Comfortable and modern. Nice location, plenty of parking and spacious.

No plughole for the bath, not sure if deliberate but was looking forward to a bath as we don’t have one.
Cleaning staff need to check the toilet brush!!

Great location in a pleasant seaside town - close to shops and bars and only 2 minutes walk to the seafront. The flat itself was spacious and comfortable.

A couple of things spoiled it for us. There were no cleaning materials in the flat other than a small hand brush with no dustpan so we had to use a piece of cardboard to clean up any spilt crumbs etc.

The other, more serious, issue is the process around the damage deposit. In order to pay this we were asked to pay a non returnable fee of £10 for processing. This is not made clear in the listing for the property. The number of emails I received immediately I made the booking was ridiculous and occupied a significant amount of time to manage / respond to. At one point I was going to cancel the booking because of the time and stress the process caused. A shame because the flat was lovely.

Location, books, spaciousness, comfy beds, well equipped kitchen. PAC Man arcade, ID Magazines, light, quiet, quirkiness of the place, milk frother, nice message left on the board from the owners.
Love the game in living room

I couldn’t have a coffee, lovely coffee machine and no pods and not been emptied so used pods left in the machine and couldn’t have an instant even

Not keen on the Skeleton picture in 2nd bedroom but I’m on my 3rd visit so I can live with it ?just creeps me out

Where have the inflatables gone from the bathroom cupboard

A fantastic and unique property in saltburn.
Close to pretty much everything you will need and within walking distance of the beach, restaurants, and supermarket.
The apartment itself is totally unique with little quirks wherever you look.
Beautifully and creatively curated but still felt like a home the moment we walked in
Can’t wait to revisit!

Location perfect for bars and supermarkets and a very short walk to the sea front. Accommodation had everything we needed.

Very minor points which we raised with housekeeping for future reference. When we arrived at 4.00 pm on a cold January day the heating was set at 12 deg C. I can understand to save energy but should have been switched on in the morning as we didn’t get the place warmed up til v late. Secondly we struggled to open the inner door with the key which we could see had had some wear and tear.

Great place, very clean and everything you need for a 2 day break. Beds very comfortable, great shower. Kitchen had everything you needed to make food.
Could have easily stayed longer.

Easy access to shops cafes and restaurants and a short walk away to the beach with only a 2 mile walk to Marske.
This information was accessible via an online guide provided within details of the apartment, very useful.

Trying to review The Artists Pad without mentioning the word quirky is impossible, damn I’ve mentioned it ,but it’s what makes it different to your usual air b@bs.Loved the artwork and the thought gone into it especially the Pirelli calendars. The apartment is spacious and has everything you need for a great stay, location fab 200 metres from Saltburns bars and 500 metres from the sea. Will definitely return.

The good:
Spacious and stylish, quirky artwork, very comfy beds, nice bathroom, warm, good location
The bad:
Poorly equipped kitchen for cooking anything of note: 3 cheap pans, no chopping board, no oven gloves, no baking trays, no dustpan & brush, no dish cloth, no kitchen towel. All essential items.
I informed Host & Stay about some of these things to which they were responsive but ultimately unhelpful, calling their helpline to which they advised me to check all drawers and cupboards. Which I did many times.
A balustrade is missing from the landing (my 4 year old could and did fit through - I believe this is illegal by building regs) and is unsafe for small and curious kids
Completely inflexible on check in and out times.
I am an experienced AirBnb-er and this is hands down the worst experience I’ve had. It’s the first and last time I’ll book a place that isn’t managed by the owner. Host & Stay are efficient and responsive but ultimately lack any kind of customer service.

Great location in the centre of town & easy street parking (beware of the Lime Trees!) close to all amenities, trendy craft ale & wine bars (bit pricey) & traditional pubs. Sainsburys & railway Station close by, good selection of smaller shops & coffee shops. Local 2nd hand market stalls at the weekend.
Then excellent facilities, ice cream, fish & chips, etc. down on the clean sandy beach, pier, funicular railway (good value £1.60 per adult). Also Miniature Railway short walk away, again great value (£2.00 per adult).

Checking in time too late (16:00) & Check-out too early (10:00) - feels like lost part of a full day!
Standard Damages Insurance Retainer £250 (refundable less £10 admin charge) - Question of transparency/trust without need to photo everything in property. Opted for Waiver Insurance £25 for peace of mind.

Location
Parking
Netflix
Shower
Milk in fridge

Safety for young children (my son is 4) scissors on bottom shelf in kitchen
Skeleton picture in second bedroom (caused issues with getting little one to sleep in own room)
Only one dishwasher tablet
No detergent
Too many things that could get broken by little people, would have helped if owners had moved things higher up, given that they knew a 4 year old was coming to stay.
PAC man at top of the stairs= death trap, my little boy fell off the stool which is at the top of the stairs, ended up moving the stool into the kitchen to prevent him trying to sit on it.
Although if you have order children be warned there are lots of pictures of beautiful but naked women on the staircase.

Absolutely fantastic property. Everything we needed. The design and creativity gone into this place is beautiful. Spotless and plenty of space. Huge bathroom, comfy beds. Loved the Pac-Man machine- spent a few hours on there as one of my childhood favourites. Stayed in Saltburn many times as one of the best beaches in UK! Would definitely return to this property. Thank you.

Great location.
Lovely flat - full of interesting things. After 3 days it felt like home. Would recommend.

Would have liked small sharp kitchen knife. Couldn’t get Netflix to work in the living area - was OK in the bedroom. Note on front door said all guests are asked to decorate a plate - we enjoyed looking at previous guests plates but we didn’t get one and were a bit disappointed.

Loved the videos of the property shown on their website. Unfortunately this must be an old video as quite a few of the features were not included or were now broken / damaged. Loved most of the apartment. I took some cool photos. Location great. Not too noisy but the dog next door does bark a bit.

Communal carpets dirty. Some of the “ornaments” made areas look a little like a jumble sale. Just odd bits scattered around. Lots of personalised, signed bits to “Neil”. The old fading plates on the wall put the kids off eating. Great idea just everything needs a clean / finishing off. I wasn’t going to take photos of the bits that needed attention as it was nothing major. Their website said they offer plates to decorate, we did not see these.

This is the 4th booking we have made this year with H&S. We hadn’t received check in info on the morning we were due to travel. This has not happened before. I emailed but didn’t receive a reply. I called and was told I hadn’t signed a waiver. I had not received this and have not had any for our previous bookings. I was also told I had to pay an £250 for insurance? Then instead I paid £25? Now I’m still unsure whether this was down to H&S or the owner whoever Neil is.

I was then was asked to send ID. It’s either a new thing or Neil is worried about his collection going walkies. My passport is in my maiden name. If I was asked to send ID when I booked our previous 4 stays then I would have known which name to book under. Why this couldn’t have been done last August when I had booked god knows but if I hadn’t called on the morning
to check we would have arrived and my passport would be at home. It’s really put me off booking again to be honest.

Loved the location , decor was cool and fun , beds were very comfortable , loved all of the windows , natural sunlight and fresh air .

neighbours dog barked whenever we passed the front door . some damage to the houses walls and stair railing that have not been fixed . lights in the kids closet had no batteries . sofa was comfortable but felt a bit gritty, which is understandable being a beach house that allows dogs . Sofa and red coffee table could use a deep clean but otherwise the entire house and our stay was wonderful .

Everything! Especially the plate thing! Lots of fun! Location was great! So close to a long stretch of sandy beach and also the local town. Facilities in the apartment were first class. Lots of room. And such an eclectic collection of artwork that even us two pensioners never ran out of conversation pieces to chat about. Loved the Pacman machine too! A competition every evening! Brilliant. So enjoyable! Just 3 nights away but feels like 10 days to re-charge our depleted batteries! Thank you for sharing this with us.

Needs a grab rail in the shower. (Great shower though). And a toilet roll holder stand. Oh...and a bread knife....and some spare light bulbs. Very minor suggestions, but they can make a bit of a difference.

The location is just fine and parking was no problem in December. However, in the summer that might not be the case! Internally, the unique and quirky features were great.

Kitchen facilities were weird! Full of electrical appliances but very few basics. For instance, one sharp knife and one saucepan and frying pan only, but no oven gloves, wooden spoons, measuring jug or bread knife. It's as if the owners didn't expect you to cook. Also, we found two TV remote controls hidden from view - one under a cushion and the other under the bed! Finally, one door handle fell off whilst we were there and others are becoming very loose.

The air bnb looked so great online, that it inspired me to visit Saltburn for the first time from a London. And it was totally worth the 4hour train journey, as Saltburn as one of the most loveliest beaches I have been too. Which is literally minutes walk from the accommodation. It particularly fascinated me that each day the beach looked different, ie one it was clear and sandy. And one day streams and sea weed were very present. And the artist pad is the perfect combination of cozy, trendy ascetically pleasing.

The Artist’s Pad is a conveniently located, unique and comfortable apartment in the picturesque town of Saltburn-by-the-sea. It’s on a street boasting a number of bars and restaurants and only a short walk to the promenade with it’s lovely views of the cliffs and Victorian pier. Inside the apartment it is furnished to the highest of standards with art, photography and pop culture collectibles. The owner has an excellent sense of style. The living room is airy and bright with a smart TV and interesting book collection. The kitchen is a very sociable space to gather with friends and the bedrooms are comfortable. The spacious bathroom has a nice freestanding bathtub and shower cubicle. It was a very pleasant stay and a very nice town to visit.

This is without doubt, up there with the best properties we have had the pleasure to stay in. Unique, inspiring, quirky, fun, light, spacious, intriguing, perfect!! And the location is excellent. And it’s brand new! Parking outside the property you have access to the secure key box....opening the door you are greeted into a beautifully tiled, light filled hallway. Make your way up the stairs and to the flat entrance, once inside you can’t be anything other than impressed!! The designer furniture, the artsy collectibles, the signed pieces from the owners commissioned photography work! Wow wow wow. The rooms are a great size, the 2 bedrooms are lovely, spacious and the comfort of the beds was something else!! The kids slept through! Which they never do even at home in their own beds! Location as I said is great......a hop and a skip from the shops, bars and restaurants of Milton Street which is the Main Street in the town. The sea front is really not much further, a 5/10 minute walk from the property. We ate and drank at Rockcliffe Hall, Guns Bar, Rapps and Coco&Rum. All excellent! You have everything you need within walking distance including local delicatessen, butchers, Spar and Sainsbury’s for provisions. If you wanted to take in Staithes or Maske they are only a short drive if you want the venture. All in all we had a fantastic few days in this idillic corner of the country and WE LOVED IT! Absolutely highly recommended to book it, before it books up! Will definitely return in future. Thank you TAP for having us!! Dan Jo Oscar Joshua Xxx

The location is excellent near all amenities, the beach is in walking distance around 5-10min, very close to friendly bars and restaurants. The Artist Pad is a unique, very trendy apartment. We will definitely be returning.
