The Space
Upon entering Oyster Cottage, you’ll instantly feel at home. This upside-down house has an open-plan living, dining and kitchen area exclusively on the top floor, with the three bedrooms being situated on the ground and first floors.

The living area features a comfy large sofa so you can relax during your stay. The decor only adds to the cosy feel of this property with a warming pine green wall, as well as white walls to allow enough light to remain in the room. Get settled in front of the 50-inch flat screen Smart TV to enjoy a cosy night in with your loved ones. Complementary NOW TV and Netflix subscriptions are provided. What's more, you'll also have access to a Juliet balcony.

Oyster Cottage is fully equipped for your self-catering stay. The modern and stylish kitchen features a Nespresso coffee machine, fridge, dishwasher, oven, hob, kettle, microwave and toaster, along with a washer/dryer.

A dining table can be found between the kitchen and living area.

Head downstairs and you’ll be taken to the first two bedrooms in the property. Both the king-size room and the bunk room are cosy spaces, once again immaculately furnished. You’ll enjoy your sleep in either of these rooms with the plush bedding and premium linens provided for you. The king-size bed can be split to create two singles if this suits your guests.

The family bathroom is also on the first floor and it features a bathtub with an overhead shower, a toilet and a wash basin.

On the ground floor you’ll find yet another bedroom with a king-size bed. Guests using this bedroom will also find a second bathroom across the hallway. This features a shower, toilet and wash basin.

Head outside and you’ll find even more space - that’s what makes Oyster Cottage so great. There is ample seating for you and your guests, as well as room for children to enjoy themselves whilst their parents relax in this enclosed space. Please note that the astro is now additional patio.

Neighborhood
Set on the West side of Whitby, Oyster Cottage is just a short 6-minute walk into the centre of town. Head to Pier Road and you’ll find cosy pubs, fun arcades and plenty of fish restaurants. Continue along the lively road until you reach the beautiful, blue flag West Cliff Beach which is lined with idyllic beach huts. At the other end of Pier Road, you’ll notice the swing bridge which sits over the River Esk.

Over the bridge, you’ll find yourself on the East bank which is full of narrow medieval streets dotted with boutiques, pubs and fish restaurants. Climb the famous 199 steps up to the Church of Saint Mary. You can also discover the renowned ruined Whitby Abbey, which was the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s gothic novel ‘Dracula’.

Step outside of Whitby and you’ll uncover a haven of woodland and moorland. Whitby forms part of the North York Moors National Park so it’s the perfect place for long walks.

Getting Around
Whitby train station is less than half a mile away so villages and towns along the North Yorkshire coast can easily be reached via rail. There’s also a taxi rank in close proximity to the train station.

There are plenty of bus routes throughout Whitby. Hop on the X4 and you can visit beautiful coastal villages like Sandsend, Runswick Bay and Staithes. The X93 travels along the coast to Scarborough. The 95 route features plenty of quaint villages, such as Grosmont and Lealholm.

Great townhouse and very close to town but not too close so that it was noisy. The apartment was lovely and modern whilst still feeling homely. Parking was a bit of a squeeze although they do state that small cars are preferable. There are quite a lot of steps up to the townhouse from the car park space which, if you've got a lot of bags can be quite hard work. The hosts were really responsive throughout the stay which was great. The apartment was just about big enough for us (4 adults and a baby). Would stay here again at such a good price and the addition of a car park space makes it very worth while in Whitby town centre.

Had a nice stay here, property was clean inside and nicely furnished. Beds really comfy and there is some outside space with seating. Location is easily walkable to harbour and the abbey. House is upside down in layout and kitchen/lounge is on the top floor, there is no storage space in the kitchen, but that was ok for a few days, you might have issues if you stayed longer. There are more than a "few" steps to the property as advertised, there are quite a lot and if you have mobility issues then dont stay here. The car parking space is also not great, it is very very small, the actual spot is opposite where have bins chained to the wall so trying to swing around to get in without hitting the strangely placed columns is near impossible. Anything bigger than a fiesta and you'll need to find some other parking. Be aware of Host and Stay, frustrating that after payment they demand more money for security deposits or insurance policies and then they keep £10 for an admin fee!

Great location and clean, new feeling interior! Good communication from host company, with very clear communication throughout. Obviously sucks to be stuck with additional external deposit system & additional inexplicable £10 admin fee?! But it all went smoothly and our deposit came back promptly ?

There were some great aspects of Oyster Cottage. The location is very good - just a few minutes to the harbour and the local shops. There was a parking space (it is very tight but we managed in a Berlingo just about) which I believe is unusual in Whitby. The towels were lovely and the shower was great. We had all we needed. However, it is located up a slope and then another 37 steps to the house (not ‘a few’ as in the ad). When we arrived, there were no hand or tea towels and there was a footprint-type mark on one of the bed sheets. The biggest thing is how close you are to the other Air BNB properties - I’d estimate 7 metres. We regularly made eye contact with those in other houses, including one person in bed. Having said that, I would return as it was well located. We had a comfortable stay, though it might be tight if there are six of you for a period of time.
