The Space
Ideal for self-catering breaks, you’ll be able to prepare and enjoy home cooked meals at Spring Bank. Designed by Peter Thompson of York, the kitchen has a whole host of appliances including a dishwasher, oven, microwave, toaster, kettle and fridge/freezer. The open plan space also includes the dining area. There is a rectangular table with four chairs so there is ample space for your whole party.

Spring Bank Cottage has a cosy, yet bright living room. It has a stylish look with light walls and two patterned chaise style sofas. Perfect for relaxing, you can turn on the TV to keep up with your favourite shows or get lost in a good book. In the colder months, retreat to the living room after a long day of exploring North Yorkshire and turn on the electric fire to enjoy a cosy night in with your loved ones.

Take the stairs up to the second floor and there are two bedrooms as well as the family bathroom. The first bedroom boasts a comfy, king size bed and the second has twin single beds. Both rooms have premium bedding and linens so you can enjoy your sleep at Spring Bank Cottage. The twin beds can be merged into a king upon request if this is more suitable for your stay.

The family bathroom is chic and clean. The modern wet room suite includes a spacious walk-in shower, wash basin and WC.

Neighborhood
Spring Bank Cottage sits on the West side of town, off Skinner Street which is popular with tourists. All of Whitby is within walking distance, with multiple cafes, restaurants and bars within a few hundred yards. The Magpie Cafe on the quayside is less than a ten-minute walk down through the quaint old Whitby ginnels, past multiple old fishermen's cottages. Straight up from Skinner street is Whitby West Cliff with views across the sea and access to the blue flag beach below.

Walk over the swing bridge which sits over the River Esk and you’ll find yourself on the East bank. Walk along Church Street and you’ll wind up at the East bank where you’ll find narrow medieval streets dotted with boutiques, pubs and fish restaurants. Climb the famous 199 steps up to the Church of Saint Mary. You can also discover the renowned ruined Whitby Abbey, which was the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s gothic novel ‘Dracula’.

Step outside of Whitby and you’ll uncover a haven of woodland and moorland. Whitby forms part of the North York Moors National Park so it’s the perfect place for long walks.

Getting Around

Beautiful home with lots of space, lovely location. Had an issue with the freezer not working and they had someone around the next day to fix this so very responsive.

The house has been renovated recently and looks amazing but the bathroom might be an issue in the long term. It doesn’t have a window and is a wet room and smelt like damp most of the stay, even when using the squidgie to remove the water post shower. We had the leave the door open most of the stay to manage the smell. No resident parking permit also means that parking costs at minimum £9 daily

Avoid Host & Stay properties! Unfortunately the lack of cleaning ruined the start of our holiday. On checking in, we found the property in a completely unacceptable condition, as it clearly hadn’t been cleaned between the previous guests leaving and our arrival. Floors not hoovered, kitchen and bathroom not cleaned, thick dust on headboards in the bedroom, dirty toilet etc. Property in need of general maintenance as it’s looking tired. We contacted H&S within 30 mins of check in but couldn’t get through to anyone. Had a call back 4 hours later at 9pm to say they’d send a cleaner back the following day, someone came and hoovered whilst we were out but didn’t address any of the other issues. Again tried to call H&S but couldn’t get through. Received a reply to email the following day asking to leave keys in the key safe for cleaner, no apology. Unsurprisingly no one came to clean further during our stay. Really disappointing experience, H&S clearly don’t respect their guests. Avoid.

great location, almost in the centre. parking was difficult when you don't know the area but it is easy after the first day. Nice place to relax, what feels like home after a day walking around.

Super location and a lovely little house. My only complaint is that we had no way of keeping our dogs downstairs, maybe an optional baby gate might help next visitors with dogs? We created something out of suitcases, so it was fine, but that was my only issue. Will definitely try and book again. Thank you ?

Fantastic location - very central for both Whitby centre, beach, parking options and eating out. The accommodation was very clean, very modern, spacious. Despite central location, the accomodation was very quiet and private. Lots of amenities- including dryer, dishwasher and coffee machine. We will be certainly returning!

Mixed review. The company forgot to clean apartment prior to our arrival. we checked in late and struggled to find accomodation as the pin location was incorrect. Contacted out of hours number took an hour to get an answer. but when finally did. they apologised and sent a lovely cleaner out at 10pm to clean the apartment. The lady was friendly and very apologetic. She also returned the next morning to do a full deep clean.
After a bad start the accommodation was cleaned and apart from a few issues all was dealt with correctly quickly and to a good standard. A real shame really!.
the company host and stay do sent a lot of emails and request to take a deposit with a £10 admin fee non refundable or pay aninsurance policy fee of £25.
in town centre an has all that you need.

The location was great. Extremely clean and had everything you required

Everywhere was decorated to a high standard but the bathroom was a wet room, literally! It really needed a shower curtain or screen between the shower and toilet. After a shower, every was wet and you had to wipe everything down. No heating in the kitchen, it looked amazing but it was freezing.

Location was perfect.
Very cosy cottage, amazing stay!

The beds were very small and uncomfortable.
We think at least a king size is needed in the main bedroom and the two single beds were very small not for adults!

The cottage was in a brilliant location near all amenities. The space was good and well equipped kitchen etc. We found shower a problem no screen and room wet through after shower and needed to spend ages getting rid of water. On arrival the carpet had not been hoovered and the floor had grit and debris on it in kitchen it’s a shame attention to detail is important. Over all it was a great stay though and we would visit again. The bathroom, linen and kitchen were clean. The property is very modern and close to everything you would want.

Great little cottage! Fab original features. High quality furnishings. Clean, tidy, fresh decor.
Good location, must visit The Granby over the road!

Dogs allowed but nowhere really to let them out, has to be a walk each time.
