The Space

The bedrooms at St Johns Mews are located on the lower floor. The main bedroom is a stylish oasis with calming neutral tones and green accents. The spacious room has a king-size bed which is complete with premium bed linens. The second bedroom has a super-king size bed, once again with plush bedding and linens. The room is also furnished with a dressing area, a space which could also double up as a workspace. The bedroom is complete with an ensuite shower room. The bed in this bedroom can be split into two singles upon request, ideal if you are staying with your children or teenagers. Alongside the bedrooms too will find the family bathroom which has a clean and modern style. It has a generous bath with a powerful overhead shower. Towels and toiletries are provided for your convenience. Head upstairs and you’re welcomed into the bright and airy open plan living, kitchen and dining area. Stylish and homely, light floods in from the large glass doors creating a tranquil space. Relax on the comfortable sofa or one of the two armchairs after a long day of exploring York. Get lost in a good book or switch on the flat-screen TV to catch up on your favourite shows. Accessible via the doors is a private balcony complete with a four-seater dining set, ideal if you fancy dining alfresco. The dining space sits just inside of the doors. Seating all guests, this is a great spot for family meals. The modern kitchen is well equipped with an oven, hob, dishwasher, fridge-freezer, washing machine, microwave, toaster and kettle, St Johns Mews has everything you could need for your stay. The kitchen is complete with ample utensils including crockery and glassware.

Neighbourhood

St Johns Mews is located in a pretty, residential area, just a short walk from the city centre of York. Placed perfectly half-way between London and Edinburgh, York is a stylish hotspot with more attractions per square mile than any other destination in the UK. Discover over 30 world-class museums as well as hidden attractions off the beaten track. Enjoy amazing restaurants, bars and pubs along with independent boutiques and big-name stores. From the ancient walls of Roman York to the grandeur of Georgian York, the city is packed with history and charm. Explore The Shambles - a cobbled street which is lined with Elizabethan buildings – where you’ll find a mixture of shops and eateries. Be amazed by the 7th century York Minster and the stunning views from the Central Tower which leads to the highest point in the city. Step outside of the centre and you’ll uncover a haven of woodland and moorland. The beautiful Yorkshire Dales, North York Moors and Wolds are right on the doorstep so you can enjoy long walks in the countryside. If you fancy venturing further afield, Leeds is easily accessible via the A64. Alternatively, you could hop on the train and be there in around half an hour. Harrogate can also be reached easily by rail in under 40 minutes.

Getting Around

Getting around can be done on foot very easily and pleasantly from St Johns Mews. You’ll find a number of bus routes running throughout York so it’s easy to get around the city. York train station is just over a mile from the apartment and has direct routes to Leeds, Harrogate, Manchester and London. A number of connecting routes can also be found from these stations so getting to other locations around the UK could not be easier.

Host & Stay are committed to our owners that their homes are protected during bookings. For this reason, we require all of our guests to transfer a £250.00 Damage Deposit (subject to a £10.00 administration charge) or, to purchase an Accidental Damage Waiver for £25.00 which will cover you for up to £500.00 of accidental damage during your stay.

The place ABSOLUTELY STUNK of sewage/decaying bodies. The company gave us some warning but nothing was done about it despite it clearly being an issue for a guest the week before and them promising to try and rectify. They failed to offer any fair resolution. It ruined the whole stay as it was completely overwhelming. Do not stay here unless you've completely lost your sense of smell.

The property had issues with bad smell. It shouldn't have been marketed until the issue of bad smell was sorted. When I checked in, I noticed that the property was filled with very strong, pungent bad smell. I opened windows, I thought it will go away but it was coming from the apartment itself. When I raised that with the owner through the chat, they replied that they can help if I find the source of the smell (this shows that they were aware of the smell, tried to sort it but could't find source of it), I couldn't find the source of the smell and called the customer services again, from my conversation with them I noticed that the cleaners had raised that issue as well but the owner didn't bother to get the issue sorted. They couldn't help either, my family and I were forced to live in that apartment that night as there was no time to go elsewhere. We couldn't sleep for a second, the smell was too overwhelming. Next morning, I talked to the customer services and they said they will send someone, we couldn't go anywhere because we have to wait for that person from property management. That person came around 1-1.30 and he also agreed that the smell was too overwhelming to stay, he passed that to the customer service people, the smell was 'raw sewer' like in his own words. He couldn't sort it out despite being in the property for 1 hour. We had no choice but to check out of the property. I informed the customer service and they told me that they will refund my money back. After 20 days I still didn't get anything back. My holiday was ruined and the whole experience was horrible.
