The Location of the property was spot on, just a few minutes stroll to the heart of the village. The accommodation was excellent, finished to a very high standard. It had its own private parking which was a great bonus.

I will be booking again

The one thing that we did miss was a welcome guide, although we were sent an online guide to access on our phones, you can't beat the hard copy in your hands, and if you're not tech savvy it would cause a slight inconvenience

Great little house, everything you need.
Very clean. Great enclosed garden for the dog. Brilliant position - round the corner from 3 good pubs and access to the beach at the end of the road.

Bathroom sink a bit high. Bed a bit narrow. But that's just nitpicking really!

Very spacious, comfy beds, nice small outside space. Very close to restaurants and pubs in Alnmouth, and good for walking the dogs.

There’s a gate at the back of the property, but there’s a gap on the hinge side, and my dog got out. Luckily a neighbour managed to catch her.

We had a very pleasant and comfortable stay at the Chimneys (4 adults and a small dog). Property is well laid out with everything you need and within walking distance to Alnmouth centre and the beach. Description of the accommodation was as described and communication with the host was excellent. Parking is available however it is quite tight for a big car; parking is also available on the road at the front of the property. Overall a great choice for a stay in Alnmouth and surrounding areas, highly recommend.

We had a great stay at this house with our young kids for three nights. The living space was spacious and the kitchen well equipped. It’s only a five minute walk to Alnmouth high street or down the estuary to the playground for the kids.

Comfortable stay with plenty of space for a family of 4. Great location with the beach only a short walk away.

The house was just perfect! The downstairs space is excellent, with a fully equipped kitchen, comfy lounge and a lovely dining room too which we used as a room to play games in the evening.
Upstairs had two good bedrooms and a bathroom with a great shower. We couldn’t have asked for any more. It also had a lovely outside space.
The location was excellent. At the bottom of the steps you could turn left to walk the very short walk into town and onto the beach. If you turned right you could walk along the estuary and onto the beach. And the beach is just wonderful.

Nothing…apart from the fact we couldn’t stay for longer. We were both so sad that our holiday had to come to an end.

Beautiful location and a lovely house which has an old world charm! had a pleasant stay with family. The only 2 things I would recommend adding are a crib cot and high chair to help families with small babies.
overall a happy experience:)

The location and the downstairs space.

The low level cooker hood. Very sharp edges! Have to keep remembering to dodge
The toilet door sticks. Got stuck inside ???
The parking is awkward outside the property.
Bathroom step. Quite difficult to manoeuvre and shower very low.
We do have tall members of the family so it was a problem for showering.

+location
+comfort and space on the ground floor
+ facilities such as washer, dryer, large fridge
+ outside space
+comfortable beds
+two toilets
+ fact that they have responded to other feedback such as leaving milk/tea/coffee/sugsr

- fact that although we used booking.com this was only a link to another agent not the actual owners
- as a result of the above we have been bombarded with emails and texts throughout our stay …many of which were inaccurate
- some of these emails were about the fact that we had to pay a £25 damage waiver - this seemed to be a term that was not alluded to at the time of booking although if you dig deep enough you can find it. You have no choice but to pay as they will not release the key code without it.
- even then (after paying said waiver) we received emails about it which sounded a bit threatening.and prompting me to send a long email back which included, amongst other things m, a list of faults at the property

Large, lovely house in a great location. Close to village shop, beach, nice pubs & transport links. Very light and airy. Plenty of space for all. Kitchen was well stocked with pots and utensils. One issue that arose was sorted immediately.

The bathroom was poorly designed, making it really difficult to use the sink or mirror. The huge marble dining table was far too big for a family meal. The kitchen didn't have any basics like tea, coffee, salt & pepper. There were no beside tables & the main bed was really high which meant you couldn't just keep your book/ phone/ glasses on the floor beside you. There's an additional £25 insurance that they insist you take out, which was hidden in the small print.

House was very clean & spacious.
Location was perfect.

The windows were dirty, especially the lounge which were really bad.
Frying pans were awful & need replacing.
No trays for oven.
Not much space in kitchen cupboards for food.
Parking was a very short space for a big car.

Had an enjoyable and very comfortable 4 night stay at The Chimneys. Property was exactly as described. In a great location, easy to find, quiet and just a few minutes easy walk to Alnmouth and down to the beach. House had everything we needed. Overall, a very relaxing stay.
A few other things to note:
- large enclosed front porch is really useful, especially to towel down a wet dog and take off your shoes/boots keeping the inside of the house clean.
- front door kept sticking and needed pushing very hard to close it (locked easily when shut). Needs a bit of realignment.
- private car parking space for a large car/SUV is very tight (small car would be fine) and you have to let the dog out the boot and passengers in the rear first before reversing in, otherwise the front of the car sticks out into the road. Also a high step down from back passenger’s door so you have to be careful getting out of the car.
- no freezer (we didn’t need it so it wasn’t a problem for us)

Cosy, well equipped holiday home. World’s most comfortable sofa, according to my husband! ( I can’t comment on it because he was stretched out on it all the time!)
Great kitchen.
Parking on site a bonus.

The very high bed, though it was comfortable once we managed to clamber in.
The lack of any bedside table for, eg a drink, proved problematic because of the bed height.

Spacious property in excellent location.

NOT dog friendly, dog “tolerant” at best. Be aware dogs are not permitted upstairs in the property (not easy when open plan staircase!) - not informed of this until after booking, by which time it’s too late to cancel.
You pay a £250 damage deposit (of which £10 is retained as an admin fee).
You pay a £95 cleaning(!) fee.
We found -
Previous guests dirty towels hanging behind doors. One supposedly clean folded towel dirty and stained. On stripping beds on departure - disgusting brown stain on mattress protector. Downstairs loo does not flush properly (reported by a previous guest months ago). Router and connections lying on floor in a jumble of cables. Cream carpet badly stained, and, on vacuuming prior to departure found we filled an entire dust canister! Considering we were out all day, I hardly think we created that amount of dirt. On our return home we highlighted the issues we had found only to be told that unless the admin company were notified DURING our stay, no action/compensation offered. Such a shame as with proper management this could be an excellent property. As it is, we’d recommend you avoid!

Lovely clean house in an excellent location. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils. The beds were very comfy. Very spacious house.

I had to ring Host and Stay on our journey to the house, as they hadn't sent me the code to access the keys to the property .

15/09/2023

the location was excellent. The provision of a washing machine and dryer were excellent, a real asset at this time of year. The provision of coffee, milk and sugar was also kind.

It was not possible to use the bed in the main bedroom due to it being too high which meant that we had to use the smaller bed in the second bedroom. The bathroom was lacking a waste bin so it was necessary to purchase waste bags to use. It was disappointing that there were stains on the footstool in the lounge and the ceiling on the staircase was marked with dirty handprints (this was reported to H&S}.

I feel I booked through Airbnb not Host and Stay, So I didn't like that I had to pay a deposit and a £10 admin fee for this service, I wouldn't stay using Host and Stay again because of this. just put it in the price and then we know when looking and booking. host and Stay Take the money straight away but dont give you it back for uptown 10days which is an absolute rip off. its an absolute shame as the place was great. No freezer which was the only let down. We were looking to go away over Christmas and New Year but not with Host and Stay
