second time we have stayed at willow cottage , great location , Helmsley has everything you need ,great restaurants and pubs , independent shops , lovely butchers and Bakers even a greengrocers , a small co-op even a castle!
just a heads up as this place is run by a holiday company though Airbnb , they don't provide basic kitchen Essentials ie cooking oil , kitchen roll , washing up brush / clothes and only a few sachets of tea , coffee sugar and milk .

Enjoyed a lovely long weekend at Willow cottage. Beautiful house, very homely and welcoming. Cozy lounge with log burner and very comfy beds and nice bed linen. Nice garden where you can sit out and enjoy a coffee or a glass of wine. Felt very at home. Loads to do and see in and around picturesque Helmsley and lots of pubs, restaurants and cafes and all are dog friendly as is the cottage. We very much enjoyed our stay

If I come back to Helmsley, I will stay here! It was a great experience, beautiful home, and very central to the town. They had all the amenities you need and a beautiful backyard.

beautiful little cottage, right in the centre of town. everything inside was immaculate. we have friends that live in the next village over so will hopefully be neck to stay again.

Fabulous two night stay at Willow Cottage. Beautiful home with thoughtful additions making it a real home from home experience. Very comfy beds and fully equipped kitchen and living area. Ideally situated for ambling around Helmsley. We can highly recommend.

Excellent cottage - great place to say. Peaceful yet central. Lovely back garden, genuine sun trap. Very clean, warm and homely. Great communication from the host service company. Will definitely stay again!

Great cottage, had everything that was needed.....perfect for walks in and around Helmsley and the garden was perfect for the dog. Would recommend.

Lovely cottage just as described.
Had a lovely stay. Too many email reminders though

Excellent location for town centre

Bathroom extractor fan noise

I rented this property as a Christmas gift for my parents so we could have a lovely mini break in Helmsley. The accommodation did not disappoint. Free parking, well equipped kitchen, comfortable living area and beds, quiet in the evening, lovely and warm, close to village centre for walking and easy access to key when arriving to the property. My parents loved it as did my husband and I. We hope to be back!

Beautiful cottage. Clean, comfy, warm and cosy. Within short walking distance of the village of Helmsley and several pubs and places to eat.

There wasn't anything I didn't like.

Warm on arrival. Easy to find with clear instructions on how to access property. Delightful, old cottage with all benefits of internal modernising. Quality bed linen and comfy beds. Proximity to excellent pubs, restaurants and all the Town has to offer plus the wider attractions.

Tall people should duck going up stairs but not really an issue - more of a heads up (or down)

Lovely cottage and we really enjoyed our stay in Helmsley. Would definitely return and recommend to friends.

Fantastic location and very good amenities. Property was exactly as described and the perfect location for a weekend away in Helmsley

Excellent location in Helmsley . Short walk to shops and pubs . The cottage was extremely well furnished and equipped and very comfortable.

Beautiful cottage with large garden.
Location was perfect with so many great restaurants and cafes round the corner.
Dunscombe park a short walk away.
Couldnt fault anything.

Very clean cottage with great location in the town. Comfy bed and great bathroom.

Nothing.

Excellent location in the middle of Helmsley. Good facilities in the kitchen - with some tea and coffee. A well-equipped bathroom. Plenty of towels. Comfy beds

Maybe just some additional condiments and a bit more tea/coffee in the kitchen

Beautiful cottage. Was immaculately clean and decorated. Had everything you could want during your stay and more. Located just next to the shops/pubs etc so very handy

Handy for the small town but situated on main road to Scarborough so lot of traffic noise at night if using twin bedroom at the front. Parking is first come first served so could be tricky at times.

This property is in an excellent location in Helmsley and really well laid out.
The kitchen was large, sitting room comfortable and the rear garden a bonus.
There are two bedrooms & the bathroom is large and has a separate shower and bath tub.

Great base for exploring the area with walks, amenities and restaurants on your doorstep. Cottage was very comfortable and if the sun was shining the garden would be great to relax after a long walk.

The location was brilliant , just a few steps from the centre of a beautiful little Yorkshire town and on the edge of the moors .

A warm and welcoming cottage within the wonderful market town of Helmsley. Would recommend and will hopefully be back :) thank you!

Lovely cottage, perfect location.

The never ending emails with far too much information which was then repeated in the next email. Having to pay a damage waiver.

Nicely located, very clean and well equipped cottage in this lovely village. Beds were comfortable and hosts were very responsive. Nice courtyard garden - some minor road noise in front bedroom but not a problem. Would recommend

The accommodation was perfect and the village was absolutely beautiful.

It was a really great home in an amazing location. The house was a good size for 4 people (and we also had 2 dogs). It had a lovely garden which was especially nice in the good weather. It had everything we needed - we will definitely be returning!

We decided to stay for a few days on the way back from Scotland with our dog to do some walking before heading back to London. We ideally wanted the option to check in a little earlier but when we enquired about this we had no response. The cottage was in a great location to pubs and easy to go on long walks. Annoyingly there were quite a few light bulbs out downstairs and in the bathroom. The shower had quite a bit of mould in it and the shower doors either got jammed or didn't close properly which was frustrating. Alongside this the temperature gauge in the shower didn't seem to be working properly which meant it was either cold or very hot. The kitchen was great and had good amenities. I think we have been used to having a few nice extra touches though which were missing at this stay. Often we have arrived to Prosecco in the fridge, a few bits of local produce and fresh milk, small things but make a difference. Nice cottage but felt lacking on the TLC for us.

Well furnished very clean great location

Booked through booking.com but then had to also register with 'host and stay' and pay additional insurance deposit. Bit of a faff when I use booking.com for the ease of booking.

Great little cottage, plenty of room and particularly nice to have a garden to enjoy the sun. Would also be nice and cosy in winter with the wood burner on. Highly recommended.

Nice, clean, simple, comfortable with charm. Very close to the main square which worked well. Nicely decorated. The instructions for the property were clear.

I think generally for the sake of a few quid, providing some dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid and shower gel is a fairly basic ask. Two coffee pods also for the duration felt like rations. Who shows up for a two night stay with dishwasher tablets and fairy liquid?? These stays are not cheap and when you have to head out to the Coop for what would seem a few simple essentials it dents the experience unnecessarily. I would suggest they are a little more generous - or add a £5 to the rate and provide a little welcome pack or something.

Willow Cottage is perfectly fine, and situated right in the centre of the pretty tourist hub of Helmsley. No complaints about the accommodation. The kitchen and rear garden were particularly enjoyable. I did have a bit of an issue about the fact that the property is operated by a management company, so there was a lack of the usual personal contact we have become used to with the usual Airbnb home. I also objected to having to make a security deposit, and to be charged a fee to have it returned. If you are happy to accept this corporate approach to staying with Airbnb, then you'll be happy with Willow Cottage.

Spacious, clean. Lovely enclosed garden. Plenty kitchen equipment.

Some of the pans were dirty.
The shower temperature was difficult to control.
Shower cubicle and tray were not the cleanest either.

Willow cottage was the perfect country getaway. It is in a great location close to all the local amenities and lovely restaurants. It was great to get out walking and the cottage was perfectly cosy.

Wee gem of a cottage in the beautiful village of Helmsley which has lots to offer. Willow Cottage is fully appointed, cosy and comfy. The enclosed garden was great for our dog to go wander about in. ? would recommend and return

The central location
The decor and furnishings
The garden and access to it
Large airy rooms
cleanliness
Quiet neighbourhood
Good facilities in the cottage

on street parking , busy road to find a spot
TV couldn’t get live access , had to watch on iPlayer etc. Not the end of the world though as hardly watched any tv
maybe a full length mirror would be good

Great location, comfy beds, very well equipped, lovely garden, just perfect.

Just the bathroom lock was a little stiff and tricky to lock and open.

Willow cottage is in an excellent location, just a small walk into Helmsley & parking straight outside. Helmsley is a friendly village with excellent eating & drinking.

All was good

location

not cleaned prior to our arrival.

lovelyl cottage , right in the center of Helmsley , which has everything you need , restaurants ,a co- op , pubs , butchers , bakers and independent shops .

This cottage is in the perfect location, the village centre is only just around the corner. It is very clean and well presented, there is everything you could need in the kitchen. The garden is delightful with a lovely seating area. We would definitely stay here again. We were able to park outside, sometimes at the other side of the road but that was fine.

Our only small gripe would be that the shower temperature is difficult to adjust, the power of the shower is good. It’s not enough of an issue to deduct a star from the rating.

everything was brilliant. Loved garden and patio. Just perfect.

no issues

The cottage is deceptively spacious and in a perfect location in Helmsley. It's equipped with everything you need and has a very cosy, homely feel. A perfect stay in the country!

I'd agree with some other reviews that the shower needs attention as it was a bit fiddly to find the right temperature for the water. We also had some minor issues with cleanliness but Host & Stay we're very responsive.

Overall, a lovely cottage and we'd definitely be back!

Great cottage in a fab location. Close to all amenities, highly recommended.

The is a super little terraced house set in a wonderful location in the heart of Helmsley. The property is well fitted out and has everything you would need for a short to medium stay.

Really enjoyed staying in the cottage. A minutes walk from the square with lots of interesting shops and restaurants. Perfect location to explore the surrounding area. A great time of year to go, when not too busy. Will definitely go again and stay in this cottage.

Deceptively spacious cottage in central Helmsley. Ticked every box for visiting relatives with a dog. Very comfortable in all rooms, good storage and excellent kitchen appliances. Lots to look round in Helmsley, decent places to eat and great dog walks.
Lots of on road parking near the cottage too.
Would definitely stay again.

lovely cosy well appointed cottage very close to town centre

constant emails from the management company saying what we could or couldn’t do reminding us twice we couldn’t check in til 4 and we had to check out at 10 am - felt like harassment and the request for a large sum of money up front to cover “damage” I thought was out of order nearly as much as the rental cost we chose to pay instead a one off cost for insurance but soured the trip really as this wasn’t clear on booking. the shower temperature was difficult to control and the bathroom smelled of sewer, the curtains covered the radiators so blocked heat coming out.
it is a lovely cottage but the above spoilt it

location good

parking was terrible also got woken up at 5.15 by next door going to work and a smell of drains

Great weekend stay with our Cocker Spaniel.
Lots to do, walking distance to shops, pubs and outdoor spaces.

Beautiful cottage. We loved our stay and the comms was perfect. Hope to return soon. Thank you!

Loved; the cosy decor, the lovely garden with patio doors to the kitchen, the log burner, the fact that it was dog friendly, the proximity to the town centre via a flat pavement - easily accessible for a pushchair and person with reduced mobility, the WiFi, having Netflix, having both a shower and a bath, the Nespresso machine.

Really minor point but the bedroom and bathroom door latches are really stiff and difficult to operate.

Great stay! Will definitely return.

Great location with everything you need to make it a comfortable stay

all very nice - loved the fire ( we took logs). comfy beds and comfy settee and chairs ( good quality)

shower in bathroom substandard. the control didn’t work - couldn’t turn it off. small cubicle with nowhere to put anything. too small to bend down. A shelf in bathroom to put stuff would be very handy.

Booked a stay at Willow Cottage for a 4 night stay with my son, mother and grandmother - 4 generations! The eldest in our party is 86 and the youngest is 1. We also had our two dogs. The cottage was in an ideal location - a very short walk along a flat pavement (ideal for a pushchair and grandmother who walks with a stick) to the main square and all the local amenities in Helmsley. The cottage was tastefully renovated and was very comfortable. We really enjoyed using the log burner. Having hard floors downstairs is ideal for dogs, we kept them in the kitchen and used the rear entrance to the property (via the garden) to enter and exit with the dogs to keep and mud etc out of the house. Lovely to have a bath as well as a shower and to have such a well equipped kitchen. We had an online groceries delivery on our first day which was very easy. The property was spotless on arrival and the communication before, during and after the visit from the property manager, Host and Stay has been second to none. I asked for one of the bedrooms to be made up as a twin prior to our stay and this was all sorted for us with no issues. I only have positive things to say about this property. We will definitely book again if they have availability. We normally stay in a hotel, but we preferred our cottage stay. Thanks for a great experience.

We had a super stay here. Location couldn’t be better. Clean, well equipped, tastefully furnished, cosy and nice quality linens and appliances. The back garden was perfect for the dogs. We have booked again.

Great location, lovely cosy little cottage with a nice garden and new kitchen appliances.

Perfect location in Helmsley. Easy walking distance of under 5 mins to shops, pubs and restaurants.
Free parking right outside the cottage was easy after mid afternoon.
Very quiet despite the road outside being the main through road - very effective double glazing.
The cottage is cosy but more spacious than it looks on the photos!
Great kitchen /diner.
Heating etc very easy to operate.

Minor glitches and in the context of being happy to stay again and recommend to others;
- Request for main bed to be made up as a king bed not implemented on arrival - sorted out as quickly as possible with good communication
- Shower needs a bit of attention. Add a small hanging tidy to put sponge, shampoo etc as its quite small and picking everything off the floor isn't great. It is collecting a bit of mould behind the sliding doors. The temperature controls are quite stiff and it was hard to get it warm rather than hot.

Cleanliness and location excellent. There were also plenty of extras about the place like pens, scissors bulbs etc.
The hosts left plenty of information about the cottage and local area which was very useful.

Nothing. One thing to bear in mind is by nature of the building the cottages tend to be darker as they only have windows at the back and front but the lighting provided was very good.

central plenty of walks

there was nothing to dislike

excellent location

The cottage is very close to town centre. Parking was a bit of an issue esp for a w/e arrival when the town was really busy. But evenings were quiet. There was a good size garden for the dogs to play in - the astro-turf got really hot though so we had to restrict play at times. The communal hall was a surprise and I'm sure the neighbours felt that they had been tagged as the dogs barked at their every move
Cottage well equipped - bath plug is missing though!
Helmsley is a lovely town with lots of dog-friendly places to eat and visit - the walled garden and Vineyard cafe are highly recommended!

Bedrooms were small (have the bruises to prove it!) and really hot even with the windows open - can't believe I'm moaning about heat! Would be a super winter short-break retreat in that respect.

Loved the little garden
Location excellent
Bed linen and towels were gorgeous

No Bbq had to take our own
No welcome hamper ?
No dishwasher tablets

Willow cottage was even better than the photos. A real home from home, very relaxing & beautifully decorated. The garden was absolutely perfect for enjoying the hot & sunny weather of last week.

Nothing at all.

Lovley little cottage in a wonderful location!

Lovely clean cottage, great location

A fantastic cottage in the heart of Helmsley - just what we needed for a weekend away with the pooch. Would definitely return!

1minute walk to shops,pubs& restaurants.

Curtains too thin .

Great cottage in a lovely location. Good shops just around the corner & restaurants and some lovely cafe’s with great coffee.
We did some lovely walks around Helmsley & taking in a few drink at the Summat’s Brewery. Would definitely revisit willow Cottage, it’s very cosy with a beautiful back garden.

We spent 3 hrs looking for the rear door garden key, and waiting for telephone calls and someone to sort the problem. The key was accidentally found after I moved a small coffee machine, the key had been pushed right to the back between the wall and the machine, overall the rest of the stay was enjoyable and the cottage was well equipped and very clean, if I had not found the key myself I would have left the property and booked into an Hotel nearby, we have 2 small dogs and the garden was essential in this cottage being directly onto a main rd. It is a pity this happened, and the follow up was poor to say the least.

Clean, comfortable and tidy, and well-equipped. Very well positioned just round the corner from the centre of Helmsley.

Clean, spacious, warm and welcoming, attractively furnished and comfortable.

Difficult to park nearby during the day.
Traffic noise from Bondgate begins quite early in the morning- 6.30/7.00 am.

clean good facilities

front door no tale lock
loud traffic
noisy pidgeons on flat roof

Honestly, everything. We booked very last minute and wow, what an experience. If you are looking for a stunningly decorated home from home cottage then this is the place.

That I couldn’t stay for longer.

The house was as advertised and in a perfect location . Very comfortable.
Would stay again .

Great location, perfect to explore all that Hensley has to offer!

Thanks for our stay at Willow Cottage.
Great property, well equipped and very comfy.
Literally a few minutes walk to Helmsley market square, pubs, shops etc.

Fabulous cottage in a great location.

really enjoyed our stay, lovely place, smooth checkin and well equipped property!

Location fantastic had the best 2 day break over Xmas with my family absolutely beautiful cottage ??

Everything was perfect

It is a lovely cottage and very well equipped and maintained.

The instructions are a little out of date - we spent 10 minutes looking for the thermostat in the front bedroom as instructed and we could not find any major channels on the television (BBCITV and C4) or any instructions.
I don’t know what you can do about this until they move out, but the next door neighbours have seven dogs that live in the yard and whine and bark intermittently throughout the day and night. They also had a large dead animal under a tarpaulin in the backyard within view of the bedroom window. It looks like a large hog or a deer and based on the fact that also a dozen pheasants strewn around the back passage way we can only assume It was a country person living in a town who had brought home some roadkill to feed his dogs with.
The woman next door told us they were going away on Monday and subsequently by Monday morning the carcass had disappeared. We wondered having heard a chainsaw that morning if he had butchered it in the shed for the dogs to eat while they were away.

Not particularly appealing to live next door to this for the weekend and we left on Monday instead of Tuesday because of this.

Very clean, homely and comfortable. Well equipped. Really comfortable beds.

voices

from communal entrance door with the other cottage.

Very well equipped with great quality beds, furniture, kitchen appliances.

nothing.

Perfect little cottage in a great location for walking in and around Helmsley. Well supplied and very comfortable. The back door is difficult to figure out- locking and unlocking was a bit challenging, even for my husband who installs locks like that for his job. This did not detract from our stay, however. We wished we could stay longer. Very sweet unit and our pup enjoyed the back garden.

A really lovely little cottage with all the amenities we required and a perfect base for exploring Helmsley and the surrounding North Yorkshire Moors region.

Clean & well appointed terrace cottage close to the square.

Lovely, clean and comfortable cottage equipped with everything we could possibly have needed. Also very tastefully decorated. Helmsley is lovely too.

Lovely quiet clean and comfortable cottage with everything you could want

Having to leave !

Beautiful cottage - very well equipped snd stylish. I could live there! Highly recommend.

I would highly recommend Willow cottage and Helmsley for a stay. The cottage is central & walking distance to all of Helmsley. Lovely little market town with lots of great restaurants. Overall the cottage was a nice size with the decor nicely reflecting Yorkshire. Great communication and management for check in/check out & had all the essentials needed within the cottage & very clean. If you’re looking for a cozy getaway or just somewhere to lay your head after a day out exploring the beautiful Yorkshire - this would be a perfect choice!

Willow cottage was a wonderful place to stay. It had everything we required and the house was to a very high standard and nice and cosy. It's perfectly located for trips to the coast and surrounding areas with space to park for free outside. We loved Helmsley itself which is a quaint place with lots of fabulous shops, bakeries and restaurants. The food we had was superb. In all this was a fabulous place to stay and I would definitely return.

Lovely place, clean, fab little garden, quiet, in a central location and walking distance to shops pubs etc. We couldn’t seem to get parked right outside but managed to park round the corner. Would definitely go back. Enjoyed our stay…

Was so cosy. Thank you!

Nice cottage in a good location. Neighbour has a number of dogs.
