The Space
The living room at Eden Cottage is a cosy space filled with character and traditional features. It has a comfy sofa and matching armchair, a flat-screen smart TV with apps for entertainment, and a log-burning fireplace to keep you warm and snug during the colder months.

The kitchen showcases even more traditional features with exposed beams. You’ll have access to all the appliances you need to make your favourite dishes during your stay, whilst the spacious wooden dining table is perfect for sitting down and enjoying your meal with your loved ones.

Eden Cottage’s family bathroom can also be found downstairs. This is a wet room with a powerful shower, a WC, and a wash basin.

The first bedroom at Eden Cottage is a cosy space featuring a king-size bed and a convenient ensuite shower room.

The second bedroom is well-fitted with two small double beds so it is a great space for kids and teenagers to share and relax. Both bedrooms feature skylight windows so you’ll be greeted by light mornings or you can gaze at the stars when the sun goes down.

The garden is a wonderful spot for relaxing with a spacious seating area in amongst the well-kept plants and a small lawn. It is a delightful garden that you’ll certainly be able to relax in.

Host & Stay are committed to our owners that their homes are protected during guest bookings. For this reason, we require all our guests to transfer a Damage Deposit (refundable, subject to an administration charge) or, to purchase an Accidental Damage Waiver which will cover you for up to £500.00 of accidental damage during your stay.

Neighborhood
Eden Cottage is located on the Holy Island of Lindisfarne just a few miles off the Northumberland coast. Cut off twice-daily from the rest of the world due to the fast-moving tides of the North Sea, the island has a truly magical feel.

Occasionally grey seals can be seen sunning themselves on the coastline or bobbing through the waters. If you’d like unspoilt sandy shores, head to Coves Haven beach on the northern side of Holy Island. High sand dunes and steep cliffs shelter this small, remote beach making it the perfect spot to relax.

Rising from the rock face, you can’t miss Lindisfarne Castle which was originally built in 1550 as a fort to defend the harbour. Restored back in 2017, you can visit the castle today to take in the outstanding architecture, history and views.

With plenty of landscapes to discover, Lindisfarne is very popular with walkers. It is even the final destination of St Cuthbert’s Way, one of Scotland’s Great Trails. There is an array of wildlife throughout the island, from the mudflats to the dunes which together form the Lindisfarne National Nature Reserve. You’ll find a whole host of different bird breeds such as the pale-bellied brent geese bar-tailed godwits.

Getting Around
Eden Cottage is within walking distance of all that Holy Island has to offer and just a few miles from the main Northumberland coast.

The easiest way to travel to Holy Island is by car but there is a 477 bus service from Berwick-upon-Tweed which travels to the island with a return trip later in the day.

There is a train station in Berwick-upon-Tweed with regular services to Newcastle and Edinburgh as well as London Kings Cross.

Berwick-upon-Tweed is within 45 minutes’ drive time of other popular Northumberland destinations such as Alnwick, Alnmouth, Seahouses and Bamburgh so it’s perfectly located for exploring. There are also a number of bus routes through the town. Hop on the X15 Arriva bus which travels to Newcastle and has stops in Belford, Alnwick and Morpeth. If you’d like to visit Craster, Seahouses, Bamburgh, Amble or Alnmouth, the X18 Arriva bus will take you there.

The cottage is lovely. Great location. Nice furniture .
However, the property was really let down by very poor cleanliness and some inaccuracy in the description. There is neither a dryer nor a garage (a garden outbuilding is not a garage).
There was used gum in the bedside drawers, dust and spiders everywhere, grimy hard floors and blocked drains.
The host management company did nothing to properly engage with the cleaning issues or reimburse me for the drain products I bought and merely thanked me for my efforts to clean.

A lovely private location yet right in the centre of the village. Lovely interior and facilities. Great walk to Lindisfarne Priory, Castle etc. NB beams in main bedroom are quite low. Not an issue for me as I’m short (5’4”) but you have to remember to duck! A lovely stay

Lovely well-equipped cottage, in a great location with easy access to pubs, shops and attractions. The cottage was clean with all facilities, central heating and a fire. The cottage was lovely and warm when we arrived. The location was quiet and peaceful (autumn time.)
As 4 adults bringing their own food, we struggled for space in the small fridge, which only had a small freezer box. Also, the on-suite shower was very narrow and the adjoining sink was of no use , other than hand washing, as it was too small in width. However, we had a lovely relaxing stay and I would definitely recommend it.

Beautiful small cottage located in the heart of the village.
Felt very romantic and cosy. Exactly what we were looking for as a family this autumn. Very comfortable and had a good rest. I Didn’t mind the low ceilings but my husband did ? , something that can easily be negotiated if you’re aware.
Loved all the local art, books and games provided… It is a lovely space and perfect for coming back to after a day of exploring.
Would definitely recommend and stay again.
Thank you x

Lovely cosy cottage in a wonderful location. Very clean and comfortable. We were very unlucky with the weather unfortunately but it was great to come back to a lovely warm place and the wood burning fire!

Great position with a lovely garden. Extremely peaceful. The house was spotlessly clean and very comfortable.

Eden Cottage is a beautiful, well designed and well maintained property situated in a quiet row (Paradise Row!) in the centre of the village. The only drawback is that the exposed roof joists in both bedrooms are just at the right height for the average person to sustain daily concussions if you are not alert. My other criticism is Host & Stay's requirement of additional insurance which is both onerous (forms, cost, failed links) and unnecessary as AirBB has its own policy coverage.

This is a charming property on a beautiful and natural island. The two of us had a great time exploring and being able to come back to a comfortable house to rest was very pleasant.

This is a comfortable and well-appointed cottage. The sheltered garden with good furniture is almost an extra room.
The kitchen is very good with a scrubbed wood table and comfortable chairs. It is well enough equipped that one could cook almost anything in it.
The sitting room is comfortable but rather lacking natural light, the sofas and chairs over-provided with large cushions.
The bedrooms are comfortable, but up a steep stair and with limited headroom and projecting beams under the roof slope. That could be a significant problem to the stiff and elderly or the very tall; we managed with a occasional knock. The en-suite is very small. The shelf over the small basin makes it difficult to shave or clean one’s teeth. The downstairs wet-room though is very good and comfortable.

A charming property, beautifully presented, tucked away from marauding day trippers down a colourful garden path.

The only negative, being an old property, is very limited headroom upstairs.

There were three of us,two adults and a twelve year old. We enjoyed the visit and the location and cottage. There were snags including finding the precise location and it would have helped if instead of a not very useful post code a simple description such as its proximity to the National Trust site had been used.
Also it was not clear until arriving that the second bedroom was a challenging place for a full grown adult. Low roof beams and a very cramped en-suite facility was a problem.
The quality of the furniture and fittings, kitchen dining room and delightful garden area, a true sun trap, made amends. Finally there was initially some confusion about car parking regulations but it didn’t seem to matter; clarity in the description would have helped.
All in all a superb few days away in a unique setting.

Beautiful well equipped cottage, everything you could possibly need was available, including cosy log burner.
Cottage is well situated on beautiful Holy sland with plenty of breathtaking scenery and things to do. Bamburgh and Berwick a stones throw away if you want to be occupied or perfect place to chill if you just want a relaxing break.

Absolutely gorgeous stay on the beautiful picturesque island that is Holy Island, we all wished we could have stayed longer. The cottage has been designed and decorated to an incredibly high standard and after a nice chilly walk round the island the light fire was the perfect thing to come back to.

We had a lovely stay in the well-situated, well-equipped cottage.
The bedrooms were a good size and very comfortable.
As the weather had become a bit cooler, the fire was pleasant to hunker down to in the evening.
Although we spent most of our time exploring the features of the island, we were only a two minute walk to the small variety of shops.

Andy

We just loved our stay here. The cottage was clean and tastefully laid out. The location was peaceful and Lindisfarne is such a beautiful island to explore. We had an absolutely lovely time here. The communications with the host were superb and they offered communication at any point. All in all I can strongly recommend this is as a lovely little place to get away. We were four adults and found it great. You have to park on the street and this is only a small walk away and we never had any problem. There is so much to do on the island particularly if you're looking for peace, history, wildlife, and lovely walks to get some time away in a beautiful and rather uplifting environment.

Absolutely fabulous cottage.
Will try to review things others haven’t already.
Beds, super comfortable, pillows and bedding clean and fresh smelling
Towels fluffy and brilliant white.
Immaculately clean and everything seemed brand new.
Kitchen has everything from an array of cookware, pots and pans, decent knives. If you like cooking you’ll be able to with ease.
Even had essential condiments, cleaning stuff (fairy liquid, multi surface cleaner, cloths etc) and kitchen roll etc etc
Cafetière, Krups and nespresso machines.
Added bonus was the kitchen Alexa with access to Amazon music ?
Lounge was stunning although we spent most of our time outdoors.
Shame it was too warm so we didn’t get to light the log burner.
Would recommend you book in advance if you want to eat at any of the 3 food places at night. We arrived Friday and they said they didn’t have tables until the Tuesday!!! Luckily we had brought meals to cook but we did drink in all 3. I’d recommend the Manor House Hotel for spacious feel and view and the Ship for traditional pub feel.
Host and Stay were extremely helpful when we locked ourselves out. A spare key arrived by the time we had drunk a pint in the pub
Definitely recommend

Most visitors are on Holy Island as a day trip, but to stay on the island feels like you have the place to yourself for sunset walks. Eden Cottage is absolutely stunning and worth the price. The garden area outside the front door is lovely and sunny with a mature garden and plenty of birds. The location of the cottage is only a few minutes stroll to the Abbey or to the castle. On street parking wasn't a problem but you do need to be considerate. I would highly recommend staying at this property.
