lovely secluded cottage in a nice village in easy travelling distance of York and the moors.
stayed at Sunny Dale cottage in Thornton le Dale after being let down by another airbnb place a day before my stay.
Was a very lovely place to stay, lots of local walks to explore, places in village and surrounding areas for food/supplies etc.
Was fairly clean, think £60 for cleaning fee on top of cost was a tad excessive though.
The location suited us perfectly.
We were generally very pleased with the whole property and facilities.
However, my husband is disabled, and while the property overall was very accessible there is one point I would like to make--- Many disabled people find it very difficult to sit on low (and low backed ) chairs . May I make a suggestion?
Could a higher backed chair be made available for such clients. It would have made the visit so much more comfortable.
Have to say I was a bit annoyed at having to pay a damage waiver close to checking in and in order to receive check in instructions (never had to do that on Airbnb before) but having said that - Sunny Dale Cottage was a gorgeous place to stay. The cottage is lovely and walking distance to everything in one of THE most prettiest villages. We were very cosy and comfortable and loved our stay. Can highly recommend the cottage and Thornton le Dale as a base to explore the beautiful region.
Really fabulous stay. Right in the village and yet so private.
Everything we needed.
Will definitely stay again.
Lovely apartment and location. Comfy beds and everything you need. Tricky to find in the dark.
Great location for York, Whitby and Scarborough.
The accommodation was beautiful, clean, well presented and welcoming.
Lovely pubs abf tea shops in the village.
Highly recommended
Lovely cottage in lovely village. Perfect location. Spotlessly clean and everything we needed. Great bakery next door for breakfasts!
Can't think of anything
The accommodation was well presented and perfectly placed for local amenities. On the whole very satisfied with our stay.
The bedroom doors did not click closed so rattled if a window was open.
On the whole the cleaning was OK, just a dirty, used tissue at the side of the bed and a bit around the bath that required cleaning better.
Location was excellent as was the outside area and the car parking .Also liked how close the pub was!The kitchen was extremely well equipped.
The bathroom should have a non slip mat in it to use as it became slippery in the shower and difficult to get out.The lack of a full length mirror was also commented on by one of our party.
Clean and well equipped. Great hot water. I think ceramic hard floor in living area, kitchen and bathroom was comfortable due to underfloor heating. Some details missing, e.g. no washing up liquid (rectified a day later) and not enough dishwasher tablets (also rectified). Internet connection was a bit hit and miss because I think it is via a mobile signal which is not great. Be aware you have to pay a damage protection deposit (plus £10 non-refundable admin fee) or a £25 waiver fee on top of the Airbnb fee which is a first for me in very many Airbnb stays.
Would highly recommend Sunny Dale Cottage for anyone looking to explore the area. Had everything we needed for a family for 4, lockable shed for the bikes was great!
Great location, really comfortable space
Property was as described, great location and included nice extras such as coffee, tea, milk and shampoo.
Wi-Fi is quite poor but could be due to the area as it is quite rural. Some parts of the property were quite worn - fittings in the bathroom and scuffs on the walls etc.
This was our second stay at this location and we enjoyed it as much as the first.
The setting within the village of Thornton le Dale is ideal, being behind the main street and the centre of village. There are 2 excellent pubs within 2-3 minutes walk and a few take ways too. There's a saved space for parking too, which the owners (who run a business that's on the main street) let us use for a while past check out time as we purchased snacks for the trip before leaving.
The cottage itself is well presented, with 2 comfortable bedrooms, a light and airy bathroom and a spacious living area. The furniture is comfy and the rooms are clean and tidy with plenty of space to unpack into.
As for the location in North Yorkshire, it's 5mins drive from Dalby Forest, 30 mins from Whitby, 25 mins from Scarborough and 40 mins from York, so if you want a place to go out for day trips, this one is hard to beat.
Location was great for Dalby Forest & things to do. Property was immaculate with all of the right equipment. Secure, off street parking.
Wi-Fi was very poor - needs upgrading. Need an exterior bin for putting rubbish.
Self catering, location adjacent to centre
Mattress very uncomfortable, could feel the springs, better quality replacements required.
Had a lovely stay at the property. Very modern and clean. Would definitely stay again
Great location our second time of staying so can’t say more than that really
Great location. Nice secure parking. Absolutely immaculate inside and out. No hesitation staying here again.
Pleasant little cottage, beautiful location
The location of cottage and village
Could have been cleaner, crumbs down between cushions on sofa, also cobwebs in sky light windows and lots of hairs in bed, But it was ok
The cottage sign on the post needs to be bigger as if a vehicle is park at the side it blocks the sign.
clean and comfortable. Well equipped kitchen everything you could need was there.
Everything was good only small fault was that the underfloor heating was not really efficient in the lounge/kitchen diner. Rest of the property took a couple of days to warm up sufficiently but as we arrived in a Thursday it may well have her empty for a few days beforehand.
Great place & nice location
Everything cottage was beautiful inside & outside host was great! Will be staying again
Loved everything
the property was beautiful- v warm, cosy and very well equipped
the loo seat needs fixing in the bathroom!
Very clean, plenty of towels, hot water was piping hot and the facilities were top notch. Really impressed will definitely stay again.
Clean, tidy, warm airy and welcoming
Nothing really!
Nice cottage good facilities and location
Forced to leave before 10am on a leisure weekend Sunday morning!
This marred the end of our weekend away.
Great place to stay at, perfect location, if you are visiting Dolby forest.
Local pubs within walking distance and great food. Would definitely look to come back.
A bit noise during the night on and off, coming from the loft area.
The cottage is lovely, spacious and spotlessly clean. It had everything we needed (family of four) and the location was perfect. Communication and check in were very straight forward. We would recommend staying here. Thank you
Lovely, modern and cosy property. Would stay again.
There was some long hairs on the top of the sofa where you rest your head, I had to clean them off before relaxing on it but that is being really fussy, other than that couldnt fault it and we would re-book. ?
Fabulous little cottage in the most idyllic of Yorkshire villages. We had a wonderful weekend. The cottage had everything we needed, it was spotless and very cosy. We will definitely come back and stay again
Super property lovely location for exploring North Yorkshire moors found a superb pub great food. Moors Inn located about 15 minutes drive from property.
The property is virtually brand new so everything was fresh and clean. The underfloor heating was very efficient. The kitchen was very well equipped. The location was brilliant - just a minute from the centre of Thornton-le-Dale on a very pretty road.
Astroturf instead of grass in the small garden - horrid. The toilet seat was not the same shape as the toilet and it was loose.
A lovely modern cottage with good facilities ideally placed to explore the Yorkshire moors and coast.
clean, spacious and good location for our needs
Did not have breakfast. The location was very good.
In general the property was clean, however we did have to hoover on arrival, the carpets needed a once over. The main problem was the amount of cobwebs and spiders, it had clearer not been dusted at high levels around the property, Which was a little disapointing.
The cottage was lovely, warm and inviting. Nicely decorated, very clean and comfortable. It had everything we needed, and situated in a great location.
Lovely cottage. Feels brand new. Great location just minutes to dalby. easy coms with the host. Highly recommended.
Perfectly appointed in Thornton Dale with everything to make the cottage a home from home. Spotlessly clean & comfortable, in a beautiful part of the country.
A lovely clean, bright and modern property in a great location. ideal for us and our one year old
Nothing
The cottage was so peaceful and brilliantly located. A perfect cottage for a much-needed break - everything we needed was there and in the village.
Location, size of property. Shower facilities.
Couldn’t open velux window in bathroom.
Pillows not comfortable.
Kettle leaked.
We had to ring regarding no high chair/cot bed. They were promptly delivered which was great but then realised by night time that we have no cot bed sheets. We had to use towels/pillow cases to line the cot
The cottage was stunning immaculate clean.
The location was great
Liked everything
I like absolutely everything, Good location, Lovely garden and beautiful cottage. Worth for the money and feels like my home.
Excellent place close to village centre but very quiet, beautifully clean , tidy and well equipped . useful bike storage shed as well - perfect. Looking forward to a return visit
The cottage was beautiful, it was clean and welcoming. I have nothing bad to say about our stay…
Nothing
The cottage was well equipped and in a great location. There was private parking provided too.
The pillows in the bedrooms were very soft and made sleeping a bit uncomfortable. But this is a very personal/biased view. We couldn't fault the cottage in all honesty.
Central location, spacious and clean
Great location, close to amenities and lots of places to visit both in countryside and coastal.
Great cottage, lovely location, clean warm and cosy!
Had a very pleasant stay here.
Second time booking from Host & Stay and will certainly book again in the future.
Minor thing worth boring which is not stated anywhere is that Netflix is available and a private parking space included.
Clean
Towels were not enough on considering duration of stay and we need to have laundry.
Also, toilet tissue, shampoo and cleaner for dish wash were not enough.
Location was excellent. Easy access to all locations of interest.
All good
Accommodation is ideally located for Scarborough, York and whitby. We had a lovely stay. Bungalow is cosy yet has a modern feel. 2 nice sized bedrooms plus a bathroom. Kitchen living area is lovely and bright. Kitchen facilties are nice also. Parking is a great extra. The location is lovely there's a really nice chippy, a corner shop, a chocolate shop, a chemist and a few cafes and pubs.
Really nice place and well located. Highly recommended
Clean, modern , well equipped and great location
Location very good
Nothing
Location was excellent we could not have been better placed
We were disappointed with the television there was a problem with the Ariel as we are not very good with apps and hi tech we had to watch programs in bedroom. we also had trouble with the hob we couldn't turn it on so went out for meals.
Everything just couldn't fault the place
Nothing it's flawless
It was clean and tidy
a lovely cottage in a great location
Excellent location for Scarborough or flamingo land. Plenty of room, nice and modern and exceptionally clean. We have had a lovely stay with our family, nice little garden to sit outside, located in a quiet area.
Exactly like the pics x
Very nice accommodation.
Immaculate, well equipped, the beds were very comfortable
Very disappointed as there was no welcome pack.
We had a lovely stay at Sunnydale Cottage. It’s right in the centre of Thornton Le Dale with easy access to the village amenities, to Dalby and out to the coast. The house itself is great, really clean, well presented and has everything you need. Small children are not particularly provided for so I recommend taking a plastic cup/kids cutlery if you have a little one. The communication from the host was great, they were responsive to emails but not ‘in your face’ which I prefer. Check in and out were simple and effective. Finding it is not the simplest without satnav but Stay provided us with accurate directions via google maps. Would definitely recommend it to friends.
Lovely cottage in a perfect location.
What a great find this was!
Sunny Dale cottage is extremely well equipped with all mod cons - even a coffee machine! Everything has been chosen really well and the cottage was clean, bright and airy. It was really good having the outside space to sit in too.
The property is close to the amenities in Thornton le Dale and the village is picturesque and very convenient for lots of places.
The customer service from Stay was excellent, with efficient, prompt replies to my messages.
Thanks for a great stay, Stay.... would definitely visit again.
Everything was of a very good standard, and the location was perfect for what we wanted.
Nothing to dislike.
Amazing little cottage, lots of facilities and great host!
