Absolutely nothing

The property had the most awful smell of what I can only describe as animal urine . We had only booked a couple of nights but had to leave early due to a leak in the shower that came through the light fittings in the kitchen and flooded the worktop along with microwave. We contacted host and stay and they said they’ll send someone out . We didn’t want to interrupt our plans so left the key in key safe box only to return to the same problem the shower was unusable. We had to leave our trip early due to not being able to shower and the awful awful smell I mentioned earlier it was that bad that we ate out constantly .There was a leaflet posted through the door telling us that there’s a rat infestation in the area so the suspected animal urine I could smell was in fact rats urine I actually feel sick at the thought of staying here with my kids .I had a back and forth with booking.com and host and stay and because I stayed for a couple of days it seems there’s nothing that can be done in the form of a refund. I am not in the position financially to ruin my only holiday with my kids believe me if I had the funds I would’ve stayed somewhere else . Please anyone thinking of staying here avoid this place it was the most disgusting place I’ve stayed and the customer service at host and stay are ridiculous.

The house would be very pleasant if the damp smell wasn't so awful. It didn't go away at all during our stay despite open windows. Not a nice welcome when you returned each day. Others have raised this too, but there's no sign of any action being taken. The kitchen was well equipped, but three tall glasses for a house that sleeps six is not enough! No wine glasses or tumblers. Fortunately there were only three guests staying.
Bed linen was clean & fresh, and house was clean but cobwebs implied it hadn't been recently done.
Did not enjoy finding out about the cost of the accident waiver after booking - all costs should be upfront.
Had a sense the property is being managed from a distance and there's no-one maintaining it (eg checking on glasses and airing before arrival). Disappointing.

Place was nice was nice well presented? Couple of issues during stay but nothing that can’t be sorted. Hosts were responsive enough to any issues we had.

The house was is a good location for the town centre, beach and travel but there were damp issues and the downstairs had a really bad smell. The garden was concrete (as photos) but was full of weeds and we were unable to use it. The kitchen also needs more utensils, pans and oven/grill trays. Our stay was ok, but we were glad to leave the smell behind once we left the property.

Stayed here while visiting family and friends. Location is central and close to the beach and shops. Beds were comfortable and tv had channels for the kids.
However, the carpets and hard floors were not clean and the house did smell damp. Did some washing and had to re wash it when I got home due to the damp smell.
The back yard needs tidying up. There were weeds growing everywhere so the children couldn’t play outside.
Prior to staying you need to book a parking permit. The problem with this is that you aren’t told this until you arrive. I asked for them to confirm that the parking permit had been organised only to be ignored. I phoned on two occasions to be told they would get back to me. They didn’t. I emailed 4 times only to be ignored. Eventually, I received an email to admit their communication was below standard. Finally received an email as we were leaving to say the permit was in place which meant I was left worrying all week that we would get a ticket. Not great!

The property is dangerous and not fit for living in. I have requested a refund from Host & Stay, I will be lodging a complaint with UK Trading Standards and I am requesting Booking.com to step in and help me get my refund. We did not stay at the property, instead found alternative accommodation at a hotel in Middlesbrough.

Arrived at property 28/06/2024. Property stank, all through downstairs and up the staircase. Took a shower, water from shower poured through the ceiling into the light fittings in kitchen, down back of microwave and into power points in kitchen. Not just a dribble - pouring down like another shower. I rang Host & Stay, they said "oh I see you reported this 3 days ago" No I didn't, I was in Australia three days ago. Notified the lady on the phone we could not stay due to; 1 not being able to take a shower; 2 electrical danger from light fittings and wall power points; and 3 the smell. Booked 4 nights accommodation at a hotel. Notified Sunday that the problem had been fixed at the accommodation, so went to have a look. A sign at the property telling us that a 'temporary' fix was in place - and yes the bath tub / shower had been siliconed up. However there were no changes to the light fittings wall powerpoints and the place still stunk. Rang Host & Stay and notified them that we wouldn't be staying due to the ongoing smell of the property, the risk that this smell was due to unseen mould and damp and the health risk that presented with a 2 week stay. Gave them till 5pm Monday for them to find us alternative accommodation. At 4.30pm Monday they came back with an alternative accommodation at Durham an hours drive away. As the reason for our visit was to visit our dying Uncle this was not suitable. So we further booked the rest of our stay at a hotel in Middlesbrough. I requested a refund of my money.

House is a good size, plenty of space and well equipped. Perfect for our 3 night stay in the area. Problem with the shower but easy to report to the host.
Bedding was clean and we had a comfortable stay.
