Perfect for a few days a Runswick with the dog
.Very clean, comfortable house.
Garden was lovely to sit in and let the dog
wander.
Highly recommend and look forward to returning again ourselves

Nothing to " not like ". This ticked our boxes

It was a self-catering accomodation, so there was not breakfast included. But the property was clean and everything one could possibly need was provided. Comfy beds, lovely garden, shower and bath.

I have no complaints.

There was a super quietness of the days and nights surrounding the property.
Great views from the back bedroom.
Pleasant outside sitting area.
Lovely safe enclosed rear garden.
Nice, Large comfy lounge, a great spacious eating area.
The Kitchen had all possible, necessary and required facilities available.
Decent sized bedrooms.
The bedding and towels were all beautifully white soft and clean.
Easy access to all different locations.

The cleanliness in the bedrooms left a lot to be desired, with there being stains on the carpets and the carpets needing a good hoovering when we arrived.
Because we were arriving with dogs we were left with the impression that they had not bothered hoovering the carpets or washing the floor.
Also the dining room table was covered in crumbs and water stains.
The bathroom also had a loose toilet seat.
We found it impossible to tune the television into BBC or ITV and we had to use Netflix or iPlayer all of the time.
The windows were extremely dirty.

1930s heaven - lots of original features & really great shower. Loved the location so close to Runswick & bus into Staithes & Whitby. Lovely enclosed garden & patio so had a little place to sit out. Pet friendly. The beds very comfy. Well equipped kitchen & across the road from a pub. I would stay again if they drop the cleaning fees.

The garden area needed cleaning - the seats & patio wee covered in dirt & buds from a nearby tree. I ended up cleaning it!
I think the extra cleaning cost £60 & £25damage waiver is too expensive - I know is host & stay not the owner. It’s adds a lot more onto the price.

Great location, clean towels and clean bedding

House wasn’t clean, downstairs toilet not cleaned from previous guests.
Had no heating and hot water for the majority of our stay. Couldn’t shower or wash our hands. Reported it but slow to be dealt with and still didn’t work. Management company not really responsive to this, stayed in many places in Runswick Bay will not be returning to this one.

Good location at top of the bay, with nice hotel for a meal a few minutes walk. Also the bus passed close by enabling us to get into Whitby easily. House was very comfortable, quiet and warm with good facilities. It was handy to have a driveway to park the car.

The TV was hard to understand - never could get ITV! It would’ve been helpful to have written clear instructions how to operate it. Like previous holiday lets, we don’t mind signing up for a £250 damage policy which will be returned if no damage has occurred. However we do object to having to pay a non returnable extra £10 for ‘administration fees’. We’ve never done this before, and wondered what these fees consist of - something the ‘Host & Stay’ company couldn’t answer when it was put to them!

elements of the property were cosy, comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped. location, parking and outdoor space was great.

Cleanliness was sub standard. lots of dog fur and general unswept dirt on the floors, I personally had to clean through the property to be able to walk around the place bare foot. Table surfaces were unclean with residual grime and food grease in places. we were greeted with a massive unflushed crap in the toilet….. Nice. The TV was difficult to navigate, no terrestrial channels at all and only a handful of channels on pre loaded apps. The beds were ridiculously uncomfortable with bedding that can only be described as suitable for Beamish museum.

Good location

The smell as you entered the porch was atrocious. The whole house smelled of the soot, age and drains. A frying pan had been put away still containing bacon fat and the work surfaces and kettle were splashed with grease.
The microwave and washing machine belonged in the dark ages.
The mattress in the main bedroom was old and had two permanent dips.
Very disappointed.

The location. The peaceful garden. The comfy living room. Well equipped.

The beds were uncomfortable, we found them too firm. Mattress topper would help. Blinds would also help or blackout curtains in bedrooms. Downstairs flooring very scratched. Blinds would also help in the dining room if you have a dog with you, quite a sun trap.

Quiet location (end of April 2022) but will need own or public transport after two or three days of walking. Good quality mattress (back bedroom) and bathroom - decent bath and shower, ample hot water with two people. Kitchen short on cupboard space if tend to prepare own meals. Windy in back garden other than immediately next to patio doors. Need bottled water for drinking/tea/coffee. Amazing bay and coastal area in general.

This propery looks better in the photos than in reality.

The hall carpet was stained once you get through the internal porch doors, the wooden flooring is scratched and marked downstairs.
Unbelievably there are insufficient seats both in the lounge and the dining room for the 5 people staying.

Our real bone of contention was that the back bedroom was covered in short white dog hairs, on the throws, cushions and carpets. YUK

The kitchen bifold cupboard door needed a replacement screw to stop it nipping your hand .

The location was great, ‘host and stay’ were sympathetic and offered to come out to sort the issues and gave us permission to deal with the failing smoke alarm that beeped from 9.30pm until 10pm- one evening as the back up battery failed .

The owners really need to deal with the internal doors which do not contain safety glass, add some extra lighting in the form of lamps in the lounge and make it feel more comfortable.

The trump d’oeil is the bathroom. On the first night -when opening the door to visit the loo in semi darkness- they walked straight into the shower screen and were concussed.
You really couldn’t make it up !!!

the house is well located within walking distance to the local beach. the house is really well equipped, almost like a home to home experience. plenty of cookware, chinaware, crockery and an induction hob. fridge and dishwasher are also available. freezer compartment for the frigo could do with a defrosting but not a major issue at all for our short stay. it is a well loved house for sure and owners/management company must have put a lot of hardwork into it.

everything worked, the private drive/parking was really handy.

Lovely house in a great location a short walk from Runswick Bay, which is a beautiful beach. Great place to stay to visit the Yorkshire coast - you're so near Whitby/Staithes/Robin Hood's Bay etc but Runswick Bay is a lot quieter (in a good way). Very handy to have offstreet parking and the property is also less than a minute's walk from the local pub, which is great for a late afternoon drink outside if you're lucky enough to get a table. You can also access the Cleveland Way from next to the pub, offering beautiful walks along the coastal path. House had everything we needed and was nice and quiet. Had forgotten about/was unaware of the third single bedroom until we arrived, but that was a nice bonus. Communication from Stay was very prompt at all times.

Lovely house, easy to find and very good location within easy reach/walk to the beaches!!

The Runswick Hotel opposite does great food (£50 for two adults) and is very dog friendly... but DO BOOK EARLY!!!! It gets very busy as the food is so good! We managed to squeeze in a Tuesday evening 5.30pm but only a table for two in a corner which was fine for us.

Note, shops close quite early so be prepared - co-op in Whitby shuts at 8pm but there is a spa type shop on the main road out.

Lovely house and stay, location was ideal. The garden was however very overgrown and did not look like the photos.

If you’re looking for a quiet get-away, may not be ideal as neighbours had parties most nights which kept us awake.

Otherwise lovely clean and modern house with comfortable beds and great bathroom, just a shame about the external factors letting the property down.

Nice house near good local amenities (pub, restaurant) and not far from the beach (although a steep walk up and down). Very comfortable and well run house. Highly recommended.

We will start with the positives, the location of the house is very good just at the top of the hill into the bay of Runswick. The house inside was very clean and was as per the photos. However just manage future guests this summer on the approach and arrival to the property first impressions were not very good, the drive and garden are overgrown and unmaintained and would appear to have been that way for some time. We picked this house as the garden on the website and photos looked impressive and as a family with smaller children we wanted a nice outdoor space. The garden is very overgrown and not a pleasant space to sit in this did not deliver the quality seen on the pictures, this was very disappointing, run down and a lack of care. Given this is summer time and increased costs in general but also for the school summer hols we did not feel this delivered the overall cost of the let. On complaint on arrival clearly it was too late for us but we would hope they do something about it for the remaining guest booked in for the summer. After requesting photos we have heard nothing further from Stay which again is extremely disappointing.

Overall our stay at The Moorings has been lovely, the house was perfect for me and my family and had everything we needed. However, when we first arrived the front and back garden was very overgrown with weeds and uncut grass that it looked like we was staying at an abandoned house!! If this wasn’t already disappointing enough, the key safe wouldn’t open. We tried ourselves and in the end had to call the air b&b hosts to get someone to come and get the keys for us. This left us waiting in our car on the overgrown drive for 30 minutes. When the (very helpful) gent arrived he had no choice but to bust open the key safe with his tools. This left us feeling very disappointed and uncomfortable about staying at the property. All in all, after a bad start, we did end up having a nice stay at The Moorings.

This is a fabulous house, very clean, with everything you could possibly need for a break away.
The location of the house is excellent, just a small walk from the beach at Runswick Bay.
The house has very comfy beds, a nice patio / garden area and a great open plan kitchen / dining area.
The location of the house is very quiet, so excellent for a relaxing get away. Although there are a couple of pubs close by for food and drink.
The house is about 100 yards from the Cleveland Way, so excellent for walkers.
I would definitely book
this house again.

We had a lovely relaxed short stay.
The place is spotless, spacious and comfortable.
Kitchen is very well-equipped for cooking if desired.
WiFi, TV, modern bathroom with a lovely tub, nice beds - everything made us feel very welcomed.
The location is great; Runswick bay is just a short walk, and Satlburn, Sandsend and other beaches are just a short drive.
Thank you!
