Property Details

The Space
The living room at Turnstone features a large bay window which allows light to flood the space. Take a seat on the two window seats and watch the world go by or kick back and relax on the stylish green sofa. When the night draws in, switch on the fire and the flat-screen TV to feel instantly cosy.

Also sharing this space is the comfy king-size bed. It is a snug haven with luxurious bedding and plush cushions. Lamps and bedside tables add nice touches.

Please note that the sofa in Turnstone can also be made into a king-size sofa bed if requested prior to your stay. Please get in touch with us to arrange this and we will be able to increase the occupancy to four.

Head into the hallway and you’ll find the open plan kitchen and dining area to the left. This room is bright and airy with furnishings and premium appliances. White tiles and cabinets compliment the wooden dining table and matching dining chairs perfectly. You’ll have everything you need for a self-catering stay on the coast as Turnstone has a kettle, microwave, toaster, oven, hob and a fridge freezer.

The family bathroom features a large shower, wash basin and WC.

Host & Stay are committed to our owners that their homes are protected during guest bookings. For this reason, we require all our guests to transfer a Damage Deposit (refundable, subject to an administration charge) or, to purchase an Accidental Damage Waiver which will cover you for up to £500.00 of accidental damage during your stay.

Neighborhood
Turnstone is located in the charming Victorian Spa town of Saltburn-by-the-Sea on the North Yorkshire coast.

It is only a short walk to the centre of town from Turnstone. Here you’ll find restaurants, cafes, bars and independent shops. Take the oldest functioning cliff lift in the UK down to the promenade and you’ll arrive at the 208-metre pier which stretches out into the sea. The long sandy shores are overlooked by colourful boutique beach huts and high cliffs tower in the distance.

Saltburn has plenty of beautiful walks too. The Valley Gardens are a maze of paths and tracks which wind through the flowers and woodland. If you want to explore further, The Cleveland Way National Trail is over 100 miles long and the lovely Saltburn is featured. If you fancy a 17.5 mile jaunt, start at Saltburn and walk your way to Sandsend. This walk is a great way to explore the North Yorkshire coastline and the views are beautiful!

Getting Around
Turnstone is within 30 minutes’ drive time of Staithes, Whitby, Middlesbrough and the North Yorkshire Moors.

Saltburn Train Station is a 10-minute walk away and has routes to Longbeck, Redcar, Middlesbrough and Darlington with connecting trains to Newcastle, York, Leeds, Manchester and London.

There are plenty of bus routes throughout Saltburn. Hop on the Arriva North East route and you can visit beautiful coastal villages like Staithes, Runswick Bay and Whitby. The Moorsbus route has drop offs at Newton Under Roseberry, Great Ayton, Stokesley and Helmsley.

Overall a wonderful stay, lovely space and close to local amenities. <br/>Bathroom and main living/sleeping area absolutely pristine and definitely impressive. <br/>As other reviews mention, some noise can be heard from restaurant/bar below, but always done by 10-11pm and not overly bothersome. <br/>Only slight negatives - no large glasses, listed as having a coffee machine but not one there, no washing up supplies left, given dishwasher tablets but no dishwasher.

Excellent flat in central location. Free on street parking was easy to find near the flat and it was close to all the bars and a supermarket and only a short walk to the seafront. Would stay there again

Great location in Saltburn right by the restaurants and shops. Close to the beach if you fancy a walk. The apartment is very spacious and beautifully decorated.

I booked the apartment for my husbands birthday for a weekend mini break. <br/>The pictures are lovely but don’t do it justice the apartment is stunning, so spacious and with everything you could need. <br/>The apartment is so well placed with so many cafes, bars, restaurants and the sea front in a short walking distance. The host sends a very helpful local guide on email when checking in which is so helpful. <br/>The only small downside is the noise that can be heard from the resturant below, neighbouring apartment and the one above. Obviously can’t be helped by the host. The resturant does shut at 11 so it’s not loud for too long.

Lovely furnishings and very comfortable. The range of kitchen cutlery could be improved. Housekeeping and cleaning needs attention eg rubbish left from previous stay. Dirty entrance/ communal area. <br/>Great location and handy for shops rail station and cafes. <br/>We have stayed at the address before and do not recall the damage waiver requirement. This was not made clear at time of booking - notice the website entry has been updated now. <br/>Noise from downstairs bar sometimes an issue this time - music should be turned down low at their stated closing time.

Location was excellent as on the street with a number of bars and restaurants and two minutes from the seafront. Room was really nice and comfortable.<br/><br/>Adding a £10 admin fee to the damage deposit isn't something I've ever seen before and in my opinion is a bit naughty and detracted from the experience a little.

Beautiful apartment<br/><br/>Needs a bit of extra cleaning in areas e.g. black on lower bathroom tiles, extractor fan needs vac and carpets need vac around edges. Generally very clean but not 10/10. Especially considering early check out and late check in times.

The flat was beautiful and comfortable located at a town centre close to train/bus stations, and seaside. However, the management company has made the process extra difficult and stressful. They first required a payment of 250£ deposit (15£ admission fee non-refundable) or 25£ insurance coverage but the link they sent can't take payments successfully after many trails. Before and during the stay, we received many emails written in a politely threatening tone regarding don't do this, do that, leave by this time, and otherwise there will be additional charge. These just felt like constant threatening/policing emails during our stay when all we wanted was just a peace of mind without additional stress. The management-company charged 50£ cleaning-fee for our 2 days' stay and required us to clean and tidy everything before we leave. This felt wrong and there was no sponge for cleaning dishes. We still had a great stay as the flat was very comfy and we felt at home right away.

Great location . Roomy apartment..comfortable <br/>Worth the money<br/><br/>Detail to cleaning , not very good in places , a lot of thick dust on the bathroom extractor fan , which was making the fan noisy when running and on the large shower head. Hot tap very loose . Mirrors dirty. <br/> <br/>Its not made clear on booking there is a damage fee to pay. Either £25 non refundable or £250 deposit. Youre only told this as your stay is near, its in the small print <br/> <br/>First impressions isnt good, the hallway is grubby dirty and smells

The apartment is exactly as it looks in the photos, big and spacious, nicely decorated. We got parked for free immediately across the road, there’s a Sainsbury’s directly across the road and the train station too. Good facilities and shower, comfortable bed and sofa.<br/><br/>The only downside was a call from the management company 5 mins before check out time wanting to know where I’d left the keys because the cleaner had arrived and couldn’t get in to the property. It’s a bit disappointing when you can’t arrive until 4pm and you have to leave as early as 10am that they are pestering you to get out even before that!

Good location. As other reviews have said you can hear the bar in all the rooms but it isn’t open too late so it wasn’t a problem for us. No chopping board or bread knife so if you use these take some with you. Same for large glasses.

Flat was great, lovely decor throughout. Great Central location with superb local facilities on our door step<br/><br/>The main entrance hallway from the from door was a letdown, carpet runner was all twisted and dusty. Cupboard door was left open revealing a freezer? Not quite a true reflection for a fantastic flat. You could do with obsurcuring the window in the kitchen as you flat like you were on public display to the street outside.

Had a wonderful stay at Sandpiper, its a lovely apartment and was exactly as described, the photos didn’t really do it justice. <br/>Would have preferred an earlier check in, 4pm in my opinion is too late. That said wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the place.

A great spot to soak up those seaside vibes.<br/>Apartment was spotlessly clean with everything you’d for a short stay.<br/>The business downstairs as previously mentioned does impact on the property re noise though was expected.<br/>Who ever was in Sunday morning also had the sound system going from 10a.m.<br/>Perhaps a polite word in their ear.<br/>Other then that all was well.

Lovely place, much better than I'd expected if I'm being honest. Exactly as in the pictures, and much larger than I'd assumed. As others said, the pizza place (really a bar after 9) played music that could be heard until 11:00-11:15, but we visited around Christmas so maybe that explains the later stop to the music. Definitely plan to visit again.

This flat is ideal for two adults, being close to all amenities and having a range of bars and restaurants all within a short walk. (Indeed, thete is a bar below the property that serves delicious, wood-fired pizzas. it's worth noting that you can hear noise in the flat from the bar, but this stops at closing time - we were in the bar so no worries there!)<br/>The property is furnished to a good standard reflected in all the fixtures, fittings and bathroom.

I have no complaints about the place itself which is gorgeous , beautifully decorated, close to the beach and brilliantly accessible by train. <br/>However I did worry whether I had accurately recorded any damage in case they wrongly deducted it from the £250 they required as an additional deposit and the worry marred my stay. You also need to be aware that it takes over two weeks for the money to be returned, (currently I am still waiting)

Central to all cafe s and shops and bars, only a short walk to the see front.<br/><br/>Interior windows needed cleaning, plug in bathroom broken, could do with screens on the bottom of the windows as you are on show all the time, but there were blinds from top to bottom.

A lovely cosy apartment. Beautifully furnished and very convenient for the station buses and shops. I did not find it too noisy as others have reported. Saltburn is still an unspoilt friendly seaside town. Thankyou for a lovely stay .

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful, spacious apartment. Really loved the decor, comfortable bed and modern bathroom with a good shower. Location was great, street parking a bit difficult when arriving on a busy weekend but we had no problem moving the car to outside the apartment in the early evening. Noise from the bar below wasn’t a problem, it closed at 10.00pm and one night we were in it anyway! Highly recommended - we would definitely stay again.

I like the fact that this place is not near the busy and touristy part of the area. It’s a lovely place to visit. So easy to get to the shops and restaurants. We felt comfortable lots of positive things about staying in this flat and we hope to use it again in the near future<br/><br/>The only bit we don’t like that the food smell does come in the hallway from the restaurant but thankfully it did not come in our place we stayed in. Even though it’s only six minutes walk to the sea people needs to be aware that to get to the Beach you either go down lots of steps and back up again or use the little tram to go down and up in the day until it s closed at 6pm

This is a great place to stay - it is right in the town centre and only five minutes from the sea. There are plenty of places in the town to get food and drink for picnics or for an evening meal. The flat has everything you need for a short break and is very quiet.

The beds were comfy the rooms were lovely good wifi and free on street parking great access to the beach quick and easy the walks around the local area lovely.<br/><br/>The Sandpiper apartment was above number 23 restaurant on Milton Street which meant thumping music started at 4pm each day until either 11pm or midnight dependent upon opening hours. Outside chairs below the window meant that their customers would sit outside beyond 10pm up until midnight making it very noisy sleeping was very difficult which had a big impact upon our day. Host And Stay have been informed and will make alterations to their advertising information informing customers Sandpiper is above a restaurant.

Had such a nice time, walk to the beach is two minutes if that. On top of the nicest pizza restaurant we have ever been to. Apartment is beautiful and provides everything you need. Bathroom is phenomenal.

Easy to access this property. Beautiful decor and very clean. Well equipped.<br/><br/>TV not working till 4th day. This property is located DIRECTLY above a bar which is NOT in the ad info. Thumping base music for approximately 12 hours a day. Unbearable. No peace. Deliveries before 7am. A real pity as otherwise, a lovely place but the noise pollution spoiled it.

The hosts have created a really beautiful apartment for their guests with top level design and comfort. A fantastic location too. The small gestures of fresh milk and tea and coffee was also very much appreciated. The communication and descriptions were accurate and efficient. Overall this was probably one of the best airbnb stays I have experienced.

Fantastic flat. Really got the 'wow' factor. Amazing place to stay. Yes, it's above a bar and pizza place, and you can hear a bit of noise from below, but don't let that put you off. It didn't affect our stay in the slightest. A lovely, lovely apartment. If you want to stay in Saltburn, then seriously consider staying here. We loved it.
