The location

No wardrobe in the bedroom

The cottage was lovely. Situated in the middle of a coastal trail between Runswick Bay and Staithes. The cottage had a brilliant view of the cliffs and the sea. It's a great place to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet.

Breathtaking views and super location. Comfy house with spacious rooms

Kitchen needs updating but still functional

A fantastic property, we have walked past it numerous times on the coastal path, so it was great to stay here, clean, comfortable and a good size, fantastic shower.

This was great for us and the property worked well and we can recommend it.
Super location and easy walk to Staithes.
>Note that the steps to the beach below (for fossils) have been washed away and you need to be physically able to get down the slope using the ropes. Not for children.
>Note (see other reviews, so we were warned) that the cupboards really are completely empty. Not even salt& pepper. Still a surprise and a first for an AirBnB stay!
Even though we

Die Aussicht und Lage

Die Backbleche waren leider alles andere als sauber

We had a lovely stay. The views from the house were spectacular. Some fab local walks.

Incredible location. Very spacious accommodation.

The finer details of the place needs updating. The bottom of the shower doors need deep cleaning. The shower temperature is no adjustable and very hot. The tap for the bath doesn't work or stay on and is not secure to the floor. The hot water wasn't easy to figure out and when we did eventually get hot water, I had to shower with my daughters straight after my husband so we'd all get atleast a rinse before it went cold again. Radiators, taps and rails all need descaling and deep cleaning. Some visible mould in corners of rooms and a noticeable smell of damp in the first double room

The views from the front window was exceptional, looking over the headlands. Very clean and tidy place, with a 20 minute walk to the Badger Hound pub in Hinderwell. 2 very comfy double bedrooms, one on suite. TV very easy to operate, which isn’t always the case with these new Smart TVs. Nice to be able to walk either way from the property as it’s on the coastal path.

Judging from the visitors book, the property hadn’t been used for a while and initially it was very cold, it would’ve been nice if a little heating had been on prior to our arrival. It should be noted that the property is on the ground floor with another apartment above- this wasn’t occupied during our stay so it was very quiet, which might not be the case with people above.

The view the space very roomy and the beds were very comfortable.

The power cut was a little difficult. But didn’t last long.

Toilet didn’t work well and having to stand and hold the bath tap in order to put water in the bath.

Fantastic views, brilliant for people who enjoy the outdoors.

Beautiful location and lovely apartment

The internet was terrible. I read some reviews before so kind of knew what to expect, but it was even worse than that. And the fees they charged were ridiculous: £90 for cleaning, for instance!!!

We would defo stay here again! It was larger than expected and very quiet, we heard no noise from any neighbours and it was silent at night.
There is parking right outside directly on the Cleveland way walk, so perfect if you’re hoping to explore that.
It felt homely and there were all the kitchen crockery etc that you might need.
The only downsides were there was no enclosed garden to let our dog out in (but this isn’t on the description, it was my error) and the internet is very slow.
That said it wouldn’t put us off coming again because the location is just so beautiful and the apartment ideal!

The view from the living room was amazing

Could have had a small welcome pack as there are no shops nearby and we were on foot

- ve
Despite paying the management agent a cleaning fee we were disappointed to find dead wood lice, hair in the rugs and dirty cutlery.
+ ve
That aside, the property was suited to our requirements with two bathrooms a plus. It is in a convenient location, overlooking the bay with opportunity to witness the sunrise and offering the costal walk into Staithes and Runswick Bay

Lovely place to stay. Very comfortable and anazing view from the lounge window. Great shower.

Great location, amazing views, front door opens right onto the coast path. Property is spacious and well equipped with easy access and parking. Really enjoyed our stay and hope to return.

Absolutely beautiful location, and a more than well equipped property

Nothing

Great Location, very comfy beds. Fantastic views, With everything you needed in the kitchen....

Sofas in the Lounge were past their best and very uncomfortable
Should have seating in the window to make the most of the view.
The open Wifi is a problem..... as overseas guests we needed to use it but did so reluctantly.......

Great view and very quiet. Perfect to relax. You should have a car.

Perfect location. Exceptionally clean. Spacious. A lovely place to stay. Would consider staying again.

Requires some maintenance. Paintwork needed refreshing, rusty radiator in bathroom. Light fitting hanging down in bathroom. Benches outside were rotten. No dishwasher.

Lovely property in a fantastic location- views are something else! Clean and spacious accommodation, plenty of room fir our family of five. Well stocked kitchen. Recommend the walk down the cliff side opposite to the fisherman’s huts at the bottom, proper adventure!

Fantastic views, nice place and good communication.

Fantastic apartment - spacious but cosy, and with a perfect location overlooking the bay at Port Mulgrave and down towards Whitby.

The hidden charges imposed by Host and Stay. You either pay for over-priced insurance (£25 for a 3-night stay) or have to leave a deposit of £250, which also carries a £10 non-returnable admin charge. This charge was not even mentioned until we'd paid for our stay.

What a beautiful spot! The apartment was just as described, lovely and clean, everything you would need. The view, well, outstanding!! Walks in every direction, short drives to the most beautiful coastal hideaways. Will definitely be back.

Fantastic location right on the Cleveland way. Beautiful views from the living room.

A good location for access to the cleveland way walk ways. 10 minute stroll into the local village.

We suspect the property has not been used regularly as there was a musty smell due to the heating being off. When we arrived the property was cold and took a long time to warm up on the inititial evening. (end of March time)
Host and stay are the management company for the property and was informed after completing the booking through (paid in full) that an additional fee for insurance (£25) was required or a £250 deposit. The message from Host and stay was pay this fee or we cancel your booking, not the best approach to this stealth tax. This should be included in the booking fee with rather than relying on customers to cough up the extra after completing the initial booking. had check out at midnight on our last day which I thought was very generous. 08:00 on the day of leaving we received a message from Host and stay saying we needed to vacate by 10:00am or be subject to further costs.
For this booking we must have received 10-12 messages from Host and stay, I suggest host and stay needs to get their act together and present these properties as intended when advertised through, After 10 years of using this is the worst booking experience I have encountered. Not what I expect.

Great apartment with fantastic views. Lovely and peaceful with plenty of walks from the front door. We saw roe deer in the fields, foxes, rabbits and lots of different birds. We will definitely be returning.

lovely break. Place was just as described. Great view and surrounding area is great.

This is a wonderful home and the views are incredible. Nice spacious apartment lovely walks around. You can walk to the pub about 25 min walk each way or short drive. Close to all local areas and central point. Only downside was the wifi, I know this isn’t a must when on holiday but handy to have wifi to search for local places and if travelling needed to work etc this wouldn’t be possible here due to lack of 4g and no wifi. I would 100% return and recommend lovely place.

Fabulous stay perfect location for us

Stayed for a week with my husband and our dog, plus daughter for the weekend, and felt right at home from the start. All queries (and there weren't many) were answered quickly and fully. We would definitely stay again

The location - right on the Cleveland Way and with an excellent view of the coast. The appartment was well equiped with cooking utensils etc.

We arrived (in late December) to find the property very cold, with the the heating not switched on. The beds felt a little damp, and the electric fire in the living room was also broken. To be fair the property did heat up, but only by the following morning after we had left the heating on overnight. We reported the broken fire to the owner on the evening we arrived and he (and an electrician) did come round the following morning, but unfortunately they couldn't get the fire working. The owner also apologised for the fact that that the heating hadn't been switched on, explaining that this was due to illness.

The booking was handled by Host and Stay, and we found them to be extremely aggressive - and there was a hidden charge (a damage waiver) that we were not aware of when we booked through Upon booking we were told that we either had to pay a £25 damage waiver, or pay a £250 damage deposit plus a £10 administration fee. Our booking with allowed us to cancel the booking with no charge up until a week before arrival. Despite this Host and Stay took payment immediately and then sent repeated demands for us to pay the damage waiver
and sign an agreement committing us to paying the full cost upon cancellation. The tone of these emails was extremely aggressive and we were threatened with our booking being cancelled if we did not comply with their demands. I notice that other people have made similar complaints about Host and Stay on TrustPilot. We personally would not book another property managed by them.

The view was breathtaking, the apartment very spacious and comfortable

Couldn’t connect easily to wifi and when we finally managed to it was exceedingly slow. Wasn’t a real problem for us but if you need wifi it could be one.

Nice view and 2 Bath rooms
Clean except for the Kitchen! Which is a complete Desaster!!

great location great views

It's a beautiful place to stay. There is so much to love about this place.... Beautifully presented, airy and spacious... lovely bathrooms. Spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The situation and views are absolutely wonderful.... perfect for walkers. Great parking. A tranquil, relaxing location. Highly recommend this place!

The internet .. you have to sign away your privacy to use it so all your activity can be tracked for marketing purposes.. so I couldn't use it. I found that intrusive and off-putting unfortunately.

Einfach nur TOP, Location und Apartment. Hinfahren und selber anschauen! Direkt an der Klippe mit Wanderweg, für jeden Englandfan ein Traum und Whitby ist ums Eck!

View across the cliffs was stunning. House was clean, comfortable and had excellent cooking facilities. Freshly decorated with lovely walk-in shower in separate bathroom and the ensuite bathroom had a beautiful pedestal bath.

Slightly firm beds for our tastes.

Wow! This place is special. So comfortable and the view is unforgettable. We've already booked our next stay ?

Absolutely loved our stay here was perfect we hope to be back very soon amazing views perfect location

A beautiful view and great little cottage. The parking spaces are really helpful and only a 5 min drive to Staithes and Runswick Bay. Comfy beds, good shower and a lovely free standing bath. A Cliff top walk begins just outside the cottage door. Great for a mini break would love to stay again and stay longer.

This was a fantastic getaway. It was a lovely place stay with views as shown on the advert - it really didn't disappoint.

Lovely place with ultimate views

Beautiful apartment with the main attraction obviously being the view. We have just spent two nights here and it was amazing and were very sad to leave. So many great spots for walks with the dogs and lovely little villages to explore. As mentioned on other reviews the Wi-Fi wasn’t great but you are on top of a cliff edge so to be expected. Would definitely stay here again.

Absolutely lovely house. Located in an area with gorgeous views and in easy reach of things to do an beaches to visit.

The house was lovely, checkin was simple and great communication from the hosts.

Will definately be staying here again x

Location, sea views, privacy.

Furniture and interior in need of modernisation.

Every thing the sea view the ground floor flat was everything you want in comfort

Nothing ?

Excellent location, lovely property, kitchen very well equipped, a real home from home.

Nothing

Amazing location. Very clean. Great instructions. Recommended

Sharper kitchen knives would have been good

Excellent location, fantastic views. Had a peaceful couple of days here.

Great place situated in a lovely cliff top location, everything was as expected, highly recommend

The place was clean and tidy and had everything you needed. We used the bedroom without the en suite as the bed felt better and it took getting used to but it was ok after a couple of days. The view was beautiful and we took the opportunity to go for a coastal walk to staithes harbour, which was lovely. It was a relaxing time, so relaxing that we booked an extra day to make the most out of our stay. All in all, we loved it and would definitely come back and stay again

The location is amazing, the coastal walks are fabulous.
It is spacious, and overall is ok, but definitely needs some money spending on it to bring it up to the standard to justify the rental price.
Port Mulgrave is a beautiful spot and would return and stay in this property again if updates were made.

The bed was very uncomfortable and the pillows flat.
There were no games, books, DVD's available as stated, these are needed if the weather is not good.
Binoculars or a telescope would be a nice touch.
There was no TV reception, we did eventually get access to sign in on the apps after emailing.

Wonderful remote location with amazing views, perfect if you want an escape. Great walks direct from the house less than 2 miles to Runswick Bay and Staithes, and other coastal towns within a short drive. It’s spacious with nicely decorated bedrooms and bathrooms; the roll top bath is fabulous. Kitchen’s well equipped other than a lack of sharp knives. Let downs were a foisty smell in the property that remained throughout our stay, poor or no wifi connection most the time, TV & Netflix not working, and couldn’t locate the books/games/dvds advertised, so if hadn’t brought your own, entertainment could have been lacking if you weren’t able to get out and about. Overall had a great stay but some aspects of the property itself could have been better.

Great place to stay

Robin Lee

What an amazing, beautiful and quiet place!
The tranquility of the cliffs and ocean is exceptional. The apartment is huge and very clean! In love with the huge tub. I am positive we would stay here again and having our big Rhodesian Ridgeback with us was the topper!!

Excellent location and view from Lounge window, bright, clean, comfy beds, all the facilities you need for a enjoyable stay.
Did miss the telescope in the photos not being there, I was looking forward to checking that out. If you need WiFi not the best, but might be due to location.
Easy to check in, good support staff, Would definitely return.

Everything. Absolute Heaven. Great accommodation, fabulous view, and lovely walks on the doorstep.???my new favourite place.

The TV had no signal due to a fire at the mast in August. Didn't spoil the holiday, but had we known we could have brought our lap top with us.

We all have a lovely stay and will definitely come back :)

The place was perfect! Easy to find, directions were good, although we were using Google maps! Lovely & clean, nice little touches here & there. The tv has Netflix, but couldn't tune into the usual channels. Not that we cared, Netflix was all we needed on a night. Great location, easy to get to all the usual places, Whitby, Scarboro, Filey, Redcar etc. Eating out, we ended up at the Spa Hotel in Saltburn & the food was absolutely delicious!! Also, just have to mention the outstanding views from the flat, there's a reason it's called Viewpoint. Fabulous, would definitely recommend. Thank you for a great stay ? Sally, Lisa & Karen x

A beautiful setting with an unbelievable view.
A lovely clean and tidy property, with a luxurious bath.

Only issue being unable to access Tv, sky or Netflix on our wet days with young children.

Overall though, a very pleasant stay and would definitely recommend.

A great cottage with beautiful views across the bay. Parking for two cars is great if you are travelling with friends as we were

A mile walk from the cottage on the cleveland way to Staithes which is a lpvely fishing port, with great pubs/places to eat.

Being on the Cleveland way if you like walking you can walk through to Whitby too.

A great place in an excellent location for both Staithes and Runswick Bay.

Lovely, clean apartment, with a great view out of the living room window. Would definitely visit again.

Beautiful view and on the Cleveland Way so 2 lovely walks from the front of the apartment. One to Staithes the other to Runswick Bay. Also convenient for trips to other resorts the favourite being Sandsend which has a lovely beach and ideal for dog walking. Visited Falling Foss Waterfall and Goathland so lots of interesting places quite nearby. View point was spotlessly clean and well equipped so will definitely be visiting again.

The views from the apartment are absolutely stunning. It's lovely and quiet. The apartment is clean, light and airy and very well equipped. It's directly on the Cleveland Way so ideal for walking (1.1/2 miles to Staithes and 2 miles to Runswick Bay).

If I was picky I'd mention that we couldn't get one of the radiators in the lounge or the wall-mounted fire to work. It was a bit chilly in the evening at times but we just put on another cardigan :-)

Very clean, great view, good size lounge/ diner, very well equipped kitchen and nice to have some basics provided (tea, coffee, milk, salt & pepper, foil, cling film etc). Coastal path on the doorstep and pubs in walking distance (quite busy with walkers in front of the apartment for those who may prefer complete privacy). Great location for visiting local beaches etc, can even get the bus from Hinderwell if you don't fancy driving!

Shower head on the bath would be useful in ensuite, not a problem, just a suggestion

Wonderful location with amazing views - those with little ones make sure you notify prior as no high chair in the property.

Lovely location, very homely and exceptionally clean. We had a lovely long weekend. Thank you!

Great location for exploring a beautiful part of the Yorkshire coastline. Clean comfortable accommodation with everything needed for an enjoyable stay including big fluffy towels!

Great area beautiful views

Excellent accommodation in a wonderful location with fantastic views

Amazing place with views to match, great host and location

A very warm, clean and comfortable property, excellent location if you love walking. The views are incredible. Highly recommended

Wonderful property with fantastic views. Great location with lots of local walks.

Great views and location right on the coastal path. Very comfy place.

Beautiful place in fantastic location

View Point was such a lovely place for a group to stay in. The view from the window was stunning, the beds were really comfortable and we loved the shower and bathroom. Port Mulgrave is close to both Saltburn and Whitby, without the crowds and we will definitely be returning.

A beautiful spacious place to stay with an incredible view. Easy drives to Staithes, Runswick Bay, Whitby and Saltburn - all wonderful. Would book again. We visited as 2 couples and a baby and plenty of space.

View Point is a great place to stay for all the family. The flat is clean and spacious with all the bits of bobs you could need. The location is excellent for exploring the coast - the views are spectacular.

No complaints. Very good

Fantastic cottage!

What a beautiful spot, the view is absolutely amazing!

Comfortable, clean accommodation in location with spectacular views.

Fabulous house, great location and very thoughtful host. Everything was perfect for our needs. Would definitely recommend to people who love to walk and appreciate fantastic views.

Beautiful location, spotlessly clean and a real home from home. The photos don’t do justice to view and how lovely the apartment is. Highly recommended

Great location. Good sized accommodation with plenty of facilities.

Claire R.

We had a lovely stay. The apartment was perfectly located for clifftop walks to Staithes and Runswick Bay. It was very well equipped with everything we could possibly need and comfortable to relax in.

Excellent location. Thank god weather was kind to us on Saturday for walking. Excellent pub in Hinderwell, Steve and Andy very welcoming and had a tasty and plentiful lunch. Watched rugby in comfort. Cottage very warm and cosy once heating was on, excellent facilities etc. Wonderful view from sitting room. Highly recommended. Gareth

Had a brilliant week here. Lovely clean and comfy property. Fabulous location with plenty of walks from the doorstep. Really well equipped in every way. Would love to return soon

We had lovely views The cottage had everything we needed and more. The location was great not far to go to the coast and Yorkshire moors. Great for walking and sightseeing. We will definitely book this cottage again

Absolutely gorgeous apartment! A lovely stay with amazing views thank you!

Paul T

This superb apartment is located on a single track road in Port Mulgrave and almost right on the cliff edge. The views out to sea are therefore stunning! If you wake up early enough you can watch the sun rising above the sea. The apartment itself is all on the ground floor and is surprisingly huge! You have a large lounge / diner, good sized kitchen, 2 double bedrooms (1 en-suite), 1 single bedroom and a separate shower room / toilet. The apartment was spotlessly clean, comfortable and you have everything you need supplied. A real gem of a find and would recommend to anyone!

Great location. Very clean. Will book again

Catherine S.

Amazing location. Stunning cottage. Beautiful place.
We had a fabulous long weekend here, everything you need & more. Will definitely be returning!

Georgina D

Welcomed with a card, sweets, milk in the fridge. Very clean spacious accommodation. Lovely ensuite in the double room. Spacious single room and another double. All mod cons. No problems whatsoever. You can walk to Staithes and Runswick Bay from here. The views are stunning. You need to read the instruction booklet on arrival so that you get hot water going and remember to turn it off on departure. Really enjoyed our stay.

We were in total awe as we drove up to this apartment on the North Sea. Nearly at the very end of the lane - and at the start of one of the two foot paths that you can hike along the cliffs - is this fabulous space. It was spotless and many of the little details that make staying in a vacation rental nicer were addressed (lots of cutting boards, lots of dish towels, DVD player, etc.). We ate in both evenings that we were there and explored Whitby for our one full day in the area - just short drive away.We loved the pedestrian and canine traffic as they passed by on their way to the foot path. Our hosts were very responsive to any of our questions. We would love to return some day!

The setting was amazing! The pictures do not do justice to how serene and peaceful this apartment was - and we loved the added plus of the pedestrian and canine traffic as they headed out on the paths near the house. The house was spotless and the hosts were super responsive to our questions or concerns. It is a short drive in the Whitby - but no matter how long you stay, you will wish you had just planned to stay here longer! We ate in both nights that we stayed so that we could enjoy the view a little longer.

Secluded, views, Stathies, Whitby excellent.

Fab venue for a quiet retreat. Amazing views and walks. Very clean and tasteful amenities.

We stayed here April 2018 for 2 nights, the cottage was exactly as advertised, so we had no horrible surprises. What was understated was the view which was glorious, even when the view was obscured by mist and fog we were all glued to the window! Would definitely return and recommend
