Very spacious, fun roof though not the weather to make use of it. Almost everything you could need and responsive staff. Wish we'd had more time to spend there but had to visit family.<br/><br/>Just a little washing up liquid and kitchen paper would have been the cherry on top and encourage people to clean aswell.Found a chipped glass that could've been dangerous but caught daughter and stopped her using it phew Pillows and bed wasn't great I couldn't sleep. The shower is spectacular but took a while to suss it out.

Accommodation was good, there were just 2 of us, so it was comfortable. <br/>Location was good.<br/><br/>We would not have been comfortable for sitting and eating if there were 4 of us, that it claimed to account, there is enough space but not seating for all to be comfortable. <br/>The cleanliness was okish, it could do with attention to detail and mirrors and the shower screen cleaning, there was a lot of dust and fluff under fittings, on skirting boards etc.

Beautiful luxurious apartment, well organised information and key access prior to visit with excellent digital guide book provided prior to arrival. Unfortunately the stay was spoilt by poor maintenance of the property.<br/><br/>Shower was jammed on scalding hot so none of us could wash during our stay. <br/>Kitchen tap wobbly.<br/>Fire door to unvented boiler unable to shut or secure due to not being fitted properly. Not a problem with my older children but would be a safety concern with younger children.<br/>Toilet roll holder loose on wall.<br/>Dust on skirting boards throughout.<br/>Shower area not cleaned properly.<br/>No washing up liquid for pots.

The accommodation was beautifully decorated and very close to the marina in Scarborough, but it was very noisey and therefore we had very disturbed sleep because of the amount of seagulls nesting at close proximity. Lovely apartment. Clear communication but was frustrated with having to pay an additional damage waiver prior to arrival.

Superb location for a traditional British seaside holiday with kids. The apartment is fitted out to a high standard, clean and well furnished. The roof terrace is great - albeit shared. Superb shower.<br/>Reality check - <br/>Six flights of stairs may prove too much for some. Nearby parking is very limited unless arriving early or late.<br/>Cutlery is in a drawer within a drawer and easily missed.<br/>Strangely for an apartment for four, there are only three dining chairs and a very small table.<br/>Avoid if seagulls annoy you - it is their domain and they are noisy. We enjoyed them.<br/>Summary<br/>Highly recommended

The location is ideal.<br/><br/>On arrival we noticed the electric hob wasn’t working in the kitchen. We called and arranged someone from the maintenance team to come out and have a look. They eventually arrived and confirmed it was broken and needed completely replacing. We were told we would be contacted in the morning and should be offered somewhere else to stay instead as we had no cooking facilities and had small children. No one contacted us. We had to contact them and they kept saying we will get back to you but never did. Nothing was done about this and we ended up spending a fortune on eating out every day. We had brought food to cook whilst there which also went to waste. The holiday ended two weeks ago and we’re still awaiting a response from them.

Shower<br/><br/>Beware?? beware?? never again!!! <br/>Once you book a room from them, they will ask you to pay for a 250 deposit before your stay, which is fine, thats no problem. But on top of the deposit money, which is the 250, you are obliged to pay 25 pounds for choosing to pay the deposit. This 25 pounds is non refundable. So that's 275 pounds already. The agreement was that they would refund the 250 back to your account 14 days after you checked out. It took them 20 days to return the money in my account that i have to send them messages to follow it up. Now, this is a real scam. They returned the money eventually, but they deducted 10 pounds. How come? It's not in the agreement that i have to pay 10 pounds to be refunded. I was expecting a full refund. I will never stay here again. A company like this should be banned. People are struggling enough to save money so they can take the family away. But this company is taking the piss.

The location was excellent, 2 minutes from the beach. I liked the layout of the apartment, and the roof terrace was a nice bonus too. It provided myself and my 2 grandchildren plenty of space relax in.<br/><br/>Mostly it was something that couldn't be controlled. The building opposite is a nesting place for seagulls, and I found out they are very active vocally at night time too! A lack of cutlery wasn't too much of an issue as I never intended to eat in anyway but could be a problem otherwise. I found out I shouldn't buy a Dyson cordless vacuum too, they are rubbish.

Beautiful accommodation, the apartment was well kept and very spacious. We stayed with 2 children and a baby. We took our own travel cot and had plenty of room. The views from our living room and bedroom were lovely looking onto the harbour and the view from the top floor was amazing. We felt very comfortable and at home for the 4 nights that we stayed. I would highly recommend staying here for a family fun filled seaside stay :) Will be coming back again next year and staying here if the dates are free.

The terrace. The space. The shower is amazing.<br/><br/>Only the constant noise of seagulls ( nothing to do with the property & obviously on the front so going to get them). <br/>The main bedroom needs to have curtains that block out the light in the mornings. They have rollers that match each window so look good and work for the room but let’s light in on the sides.

Great location with car park close by. The apartment is clean, tidy and is has a nice modern decor which combines comfort with style. There is plenty of room for 4 adults with all the amenities you need. The kitchen although small is well laid out, the lounge has plenty of room as does the bathroom and main bedroom with plenty of storage space. The roof terrace is great in warm sunny weather.<br/><br/>Unfortunately there was a fair bit of noise from traffic even early in the morning (bin wagons)

The seagulls roosting outside. We understand it is a seaside town but there were at least 15-20 nesting seagulls outside the property which made it rather noisy first thing in the morning.

We've always stayed in a hotel before, but after a taste of apartment living there'll be no going back, absolutely loved it, it felt so relaxed<br/><br/>Can't fault the actual apartment, but the seagulls are a pain in the backside, but what's to expect at the seaside

Lovely place, right on the sea front so easy access to restaurants and activities. The flat was lovely and clean and exactly like the pictures.

A lovely place in a great location. The apartment is really well fitted. Only 3 of us stayed - maybe bit too cosy for 4 (small settee, small table). The top terrace is brilliant. We enjoyed fish & chips from over the road and it was great, especially the scraps!<br/><br/>Seagulls are a bit loud!!

The TVs were not great. Very slow loading youtube applications for my baby, and rhe living room tv had to get turned off at the wall every now and then for it to work

We've stayed here before but on a lower floor so we knew what to expect. It's a lovely apartment in a great location ?<br/><br/>The stairs !!!lol. Last year we'd stayed on the first floor so it wasn't too bad but the stairs are tiring when you are carrying in bags. But it wouldn't put us off staying again but on the first floor and the roof Terrace is worth the stair climb.

A Grand Designs apartment close to the Old Town promenade.<br/><br/>Arrival information told us where to find the key but failed to explain that the key fob was electronic and opened the entrance door. <br/>The apartment, designed for four guests, was almost totally impractical. The only table was a round "cafe"piece barely large enough for one let alone four. Only three dining chairs were provided. Comfort seating was limited to a large two-seat sofa and a bean bag. There were no chairs in the bedrooms, nor was there any clothes storage other than a hanging rail with small shelves. Thus our stay necessitated living out or our cases for a week. <br/>The floor was covered with sand and no suitable brush was provided - thus sandy beds. The Dyson provided was good but is almost useless on wooden floors. <br/>The kitchen facilities were good but the essentials, washing-up liquid, kitchen roll and toilet paper etc the cheapest available. No surface cleaning liquids were provided. <br/>An expensive property which I would not recommend.

The flat was spacious, and comfortable, with all the mod cons. (Though minus a microwave, which I found quite odd) The flat is in the most amazing location. Two seconds and you are on the beach, and a small walk up the hill to the main shopping area and city centre. It was quiet (apart from the seagulls, but hey, it is next to the sea haha) and kept the warmth of the day throughout the night. Shower was incredible and the beds were super comfortable. The outside roof top terrace was great, and a very comfortable sunbathing point.<br/><br/>As I mentioned there was not a microwave, which I found odd. There also wasn't a washing machine, which for us wasn't a problem, but if you had a young family then you might struggle if you needed to a wash.

What can I say…? It’s all been said by previous guests. Immaculate property, tastefully furnished, looked exactly like the pics and as described. Fantastic base for exploring the many beautiful nearby landmarks, Flamborough, Robin Hood’s Bay, The Cleveland Way and Whitby, etc.<br/>Unfortunately, one downside, again, as mentioned in previous reviews…, the nesting seagulls!<br/>During our midweek stay, 4th to 6th July, there were around 30 gulls (and their new born chicks) , perched on ledges feet from the apartments’ living room windows. They were incredibly vocal from 4 am until late evening. Sleep was pretty much impossible. <br/>It goes without saying, my partner and I expected seagulls and their normal chorus but this was another level. <br/>Sorry to put a damper on things but it needed to be said.<br/>Steve

The location is AMAZING!!! We have enjoy our time! It’s literally 30sec from the beach. The view of the terrace is breathtaking. You can walk for almost everywhere. The kitchen are nice glasses like for champagne really have enjoy that. But the rest if you wanna cook bring stuff from home. <br/>We have find the place lovely <br/>wanna come back for the view

In an excellent location - you couldn’t get more central in Scarborough. Easy to park nearby.<br/>The property was clean, stylish, well-maintained and comfortable. There was plenty of room and everything worked well. Checking in and out was easy. We enjoyed the sea views, especially from the rooftop terrace.<br/><br/>Being central meant it was noisy in the morning (very early) with bin lorries, street cleaning etc. <br/>The dining table was too small for 4 (ok for three) and the living room needs softer lighting (lamps). Needs more coat hangers too.

The appartment was very big, modern and comfy, great outlook and nice touch with the roof terrace on nice days.<br/><br/>Cleaning of the kitchen could have been a little more thorough, as some glasses and cups were dirty and there was a used <br/>scourer smelling on the side.

it was very clean and modern , great location<br/><br/>the only negative was that we couldn’t get the tv to come on in the lounge at first, after a quick call to the host , a maintenance person was to call in the following morning , but we managed to get it working by switching it on with a power button underneath the tv, the remote wouldn’t switch it on at all !! . Also there was only 1 teaspoon in the kitchen !

The beach and town being easily in walking distance is great. The layout and design of the property is lovely and you definitely get your steps in being on the 3rd floor ?

This apartment is a little more expensive than the competition on Airbnb but the location is great and the place is very modern and spotless. <br/>I would highly recommend it.

Enjoyed our stay. The apartment is a high standard. The only issue was the level of seagull noise at 5am but had read this in a previous review so was expecting it. <br/>Car park opposite was handy but very tight for large cars. Pay on ring go app means any unused minutes from 6pm carry over into the morning after 9am when it’s back onto a chargeable time.

The apartment was in a fantastic location, so close to the beach. Fantastic facilities with everything needed for a break away. Parking very close and only had to pay 9 until 6. Will definitely be back.<br/><br/>The property could do with another comfy chair in the living room. A bit more attention to cleaning as hall was very dusty under shoe rack, freezer section was full of ice. Small bedroom radiator although warm didn’t seem to get hot. The noise from outside is to be expected but maybe a secondary glazing would dampen the noise for guests.

Beautiful property, very modern and contained everything we needed for a weekend stay. We were on the top floor apartment and the view was amazing. The beds were really comfortable too. A good sized apartment for a group of four (me, mum, aunt & friend), we have a trip to Scarborough every year and this is one of the nicest places we have stayed.<br/><br/>As we were on the top floor there were a lot of stairs & no lift. However, we had been made aware of this before booking so we knew to expect this. It wouldn’t put me off staying again but it was the only downside to an otherwise perfect place

I liked the location, it was clean and the beds were comfortable. the shower was spacious and the whole<br/>apartment was decorated well.<br/><br/>the living room doesn’t have enough comfy seats for 4 people. the dining table isn’t big enough for 4 people and it only has 3 chairs. the radiator in the bedrooms do work but they don’t get very warm. <br/>the spot lighting in the living room is far too bright, it needs a lamp. Its a noisy road outside if it were triple glazed this would help. A rug in the living room might help with the echoing and make it cozy.

I think the explanation of how to use the key fob for door entry could have been better, to alert us that the key is for the door to the apartment and fob is for front door entry it could be better explained. Was stood for at least 5 mins or more trying the key in the door until saw the fob area and sorted it out.

Beautiful apartment in a set of 3. We were apt 3, the top floor. All rooms have a sea view and in my opinion the location is excellent, right by the front and just a short walk to the town centre. Everything you'd need was there, decor was gorgeous, really luxury finish. There was also a fabulous roof terrace. <br/>We travelled with our 2 small children ages 5 and 2. The apartments have steps down to the kitchen and down into bedroom 2. For our children they were fine, and there's something to hold onto. You should bear this in mind though if travelling with kids.<br/><br/>N/A

We really enjoyed this apartment. The location is perfect and everything is furnished (tea, coffee, etc.) maybe just some games for children could be added. And we confirmed, the shower is really top !

The flat is perfect for a short break away with a bit of a lux feeling. The beds were comfortable and the flat was inviting. We will definitely be adding this one to our list of accommodation to enjoy again.

The property was modern and comfy for 2 people would have struggled with 3 or 4. Only 3 dining chairs and very small dining table. The apartment was on the 3rd floor with 42 steps to reach it. Feel the details should have said not suitable for elderly/infirm.

Excellent, central location with a public car park opposite. Very modern decor and finishes. Good size lounge with views of the harbour. The roof terrace was a great feature. Fantastic bathroom and easy to use 'state of the art' shower.<br/><br/>Despite the fact it had been cleaned the attention to detail was missing. Floors not 'hoovered' properly, glass surfaces not cleaned. A couple of desk/pedestal fans would of been appreciated.

A wonderful apartment in the centre of Scarborough. Very clean, modern and spacious. It does have a bit of the wow factor with the views of the harbour. <br/>The only two downside to the property is the fact there is no o street parking as stated. It’s all double yellow lines so you do have to pay and display in the car park opposite and it can get extremely busy. Secondly the seagulls! I must admit I saw another review mentioning the seagulls and laughed it off but it’s no laughing matter. If you are staying in the double room at the front of the property take some ear plugs otherwise the seagulls will keep you awake until it’s dark and wake you up at dawn. I have never heard seagulls so loud. <br/>Apart from that our stay was wonderful and I would recommend to families or couples who are wanting a central place to stay for a few nights.

Modern, clean and welcoming and a very convenient location.<br/><br/>Cutlery had water marks where not dried properly and the freezer box in the fridge was full of ice and needed defrosting. These are by no means deal breakers, but make a difference between our score of 9 and getting a perfect 10. Will definitely book again for next year.

There property was very close to the beach and marina and it had a car park right opposite. Really nice looking from outside and lovely on the inside. It was secure with key and fob access so felt safe. <br/><br/>The overall layout of apartment was lovely.<br/><br/>Had a great rain shower in the bathroom, possibly one of my favourite things about the apartment. TV had YouTube and Netflix, good to keep kids entertained in the evening.<br/><br/>Little touches like a stool in the bathroom for little ones to reach the sink was nice.<br/><br/>Loved there was someone you could message at anytime and they would get back to you quickly.<br/><br/>The cleanliness of the kitchen cutlery and dishes wasn’t great and I had to wash them before use. The kettle had a lot of limescale built up inside that put me off using it. <br/><br/>The hairdryer had lots of dust on it, I presume it had not been used in some time hence the dust. <br/><br/>Not a major deal but for the money paid would expect there to be better cleaning between guests. <br/><br/>This is the only thing that let this property down - if cleanliness has been better I would have given this property 10/10 (note to owners) would put pictures up but it would not do property justice as it was a good property.<br/><br/>Would still recommend and would stay there again - hope owners take feedback onboard.

Stayed in Apartment No.1 Berkano. The apartment was exceptionally clean, bright and nicely laid out. The beds very comfortable and location is perfect.<br/><br/>The only minor gripe is that there is a lot of noise from the street early in the morning, however given the location this is to be expected and there's not much that can be done about this.

location brilliant close to beach town centre .Clean spacious appartment.<br/><br/>we couldn’t get the cooker top to work .plus kitchen cupboards really high to reach top shelve.We had someone with us who was tall otherwise we wouldn’t have been able to reach.

The location was amazing, parking was perfect, we were very happy to have apartment 1, the outdoor area on the roof was lovely with amazing views. The apartment itself was very modern.<br/><br/>The bins were not emptied on our arrival and some of the plates and glasses were not clean (marks and food stains). the green blanket on the bed was also dirty.

Lovely apartment, very spacious, clean and comfortable.<br/><br/>Only negative was the Neon sign on the exterior of the building, it was very bright and therefore brought alot of light into the bedroom, the light was on a timer and turned off around midnight, would like it to have been earlier.

We booked the Laguz for some time away with the kids and to visit some friends in nearby West Ayton over the Easter Holidays. The Laguz is one of three apartments within the Merchant Quarters which we booked as it seemingly had everything needed for a pleasant stay. Booking was very easy as was the communication with Host & Stay. On arrival and having carried our bags up the many stairs, we walked into an amazingly bright, clean and modern, newly renovated property. The views, one of the reasons we chose Laguz, were stunning! Its also pretty much on the beach which is bonus. The apartment is brilliantly worked and is quite quaint with its little steps down to different rooms. The double bedroom is a fantastic size and nicely finished as was the twin room although being at the rear, a bit dark. The kitchen, well equipped, fridge, oven & hob, pots and pans, cleaning products... No microwave though, our youngest still likes her warm milk at night so this had to be done in a pan. Only 3 eating forks, which made eating my fish supper from the very good chippy over the road a little difficult - we improvised and were dropped off new forks the next day. Bathroom is very nice, big, bright and well fitted! Velux window could do with a blind or should have frosted glass as you can see straight in from the roof terrace above! Roof terrace is a great asset with some wonderful views. The lounge/dining area is a brilliant big bright space but for the life of me, could not understand why its only got a 2 seater sofa and enough chairs around the table for 3 people to eat?? There were stools which we used, but they were to high to sit on at the table. Still a very nice room though! All in all though a fantastic apartment which is well fitted, bright, modern and spacious in a sought after area right on the beach. As mentioned we encountered a few other, more serious problems which were sorted out over the 4 nights we were there. I appreciate this is an old recently refurbished building so things do move and need time to settle. I do hope that Host & Stay have taken the other issues on board and sorted them out, and also used my feedback in a positive way. I am appreciative in the manner of which Host & Stay sorted the problems and for there very professional approach from start to finish for this reason we would have no issue booking with them again!

Lovely apartment, nice and clean, wish we could of stayed longer, would definitely go back.<br/><br/>Struggled to get hot water sometimes, could have done with some information on how to use the oven and hob, i thought there was no microwave at first but there was a setting on the grill for the microwave, couldn't work out how to use the hob though. Remote in bedroom didn't work, might need new batteries. The door for the boiler didn't shut and when you have young kids with you it's not really a place you want your kids opening.

Location was amazing, couldn't fault anything with the apartment. The living room was very cosy with a large TV and everybody loved the shower ?<br/><br/>The cost when I have looked for July/August ?

Location was good, very spacious apartment, very modern property. Beds comfy, shower excellent. Good Tv with good choice of channels.<br/><br/>No microwave, bedside light in second bedroom was broken (working but broken). We requested an early check in but was told this wasn’t available (turned up and tried at 2pm and key was available so got in) this was disappointing as had luggage we needed to drop off, feel host could’ve made more effort to accommodate this. Asked for cot and high chair and these were left in wrong apartment so I had to retrieve them myself. Again pretty poor service. Think the hosting via email lacks a personal touch. Found I was bombarded with emails and not enough attention to detail and service was given. Tried calling a few times and not sure what hours are worked but found it difficult to be able to speak to someone who could actually help. Not sure id use someone so “hands off” in future

location to South Bay<br/><br/>heating had not been on after the last occupancy. We arrived at 3pm on Friday, opened the door and we could see our breath inside the property. Turned the heating in immediately to 30 degrees and swiftly left. can back at 8pm and the flat was still very cold. The radiator in the kids room (4 and 7 year old) was not working properly and kids could not sleep in that temperature. I called the property manager who advised he would sent a portable heater over the next day. That night we all slept in same bed which was horrific! It’s now Monday and we are still awaiting the heater. I advised I would not be paying for the first night but I’ve still yet to hear back as apparently the property manager didn’t have authority to do this!! The entrance steps were filthy with muddy footprints everywhere! the flat was very very noisy with party goers walking past and the flat has very thin windows also resulting in heat loss. We will definitely not be staying at the Merchant Quarters again.

This old building has been renovated to a very high standard.<br/>It was super clean, very modern & in a great location.<br/>We usually stay at The Sands apartments on the north side but this will now be our new go to apartment for our Scarborough weekends away.<br/><br/>No cafetière or filter coffee machine.

Stayed for four nights over the New Year period and had a wonderful time. The apartment is fantastic, a real home from home and such a brilliant location right on the seafront that meant we could watch the New Years Eve fireworks right for the roof terrace!

The whole place was perfect, so clean, had everything we needed. Very comfortable beds, love cosy warm apartment in a great location. Wouldn’t hesitate in booking again.<br/><br/>Coming home!

Size and shape of the studio suite, the location, the view from the windows (sea, castle, busy colourful neighbourhood), the kitchen. "Fresh beauty" is the term that comes to mind.<br/><br/>The round dining table is rather small but seats 3 OK. The kitchen tap was dodgy. And I did not enjoy the coffee capsules on offer for the coffee machine. Easy to see that I am complaining about first-world problems :-) We fully enjoyed Merchants Quarters.

Location perfect for busy family holiday<br/><br/>Only suggestion is a lamp in lounge of apartment 1 for softer lighting ( already in situ in apartment 2).<br/>Unfortunately our key fob for apartment 1 failed for the external door.We did report it .Had we not also had keys for apartment 2 that could have been a real issue

On arrival we were met with a clean, modern building which was more than matched by the communal and private areas. The apartment was clean, comfortable and modern with lovely views to the harbour. The roof top garden was an added luxury. The small details here are what really count - the amazing shower and the Christmas tea bags to name a couple. The quality and finish is not what you would associate with a rental property. We had a lovely time and we will be back!!

Also, a perfect location for all local attractions.<br/>One downside was the lack of sound proofing. The noise coming from the seagulls at night was very loud, particularly a problem if u have a baby.<br/>As most people have commented before, the parking situation isn’t ideal. £9 a day which isn’t too bad, however, it’s a very busy car park and if u have a big suv or an estate car, most of the spaces aren’t really big enough. <br/>A massive highlight for me was the roof terrace, fantastic space and as we were blessed with good weather, we ate and drank up there most of the time.<br/>Overall, we had a great stay!

We booked this place for 2 couples to have a weekend break by the sea. From the minute we booked and paid we were looking forward to it so much, it looked like everything about it would be perfect, location, price, modern decor and the rooftop terrace. We were not disappointed, we could find nothing at all we didn't love about this place. In turn each one of us said we could live there. Everything you needed had been put into this absolutely stunning apartment, all finished off to the highest standard. There was plenty of car parks within a few minutes walking distance although we anticipated a busy weekend after 'freedom day' so we opted to pre-book NCP which was only a 10 minute downhill walk. We were on the third floor and there was no lift, so not suitable for those with limited mobility. The location was a hop skip and jump onto the South bay beach where there was so much to do. The apartment was like a maze of rooms, the layout was unusual but amazing, so much thought had obviously gone into planning such an brilliant space. The beds were comfortable and clean, there was enough hanging space for a weekend trip. The bathroom was pure luxury, the shower had so many water jet options I was spoiled for choice, and big enough to fit 2 people at a time. The kitchen was well equipped although with so many place to eat out we didn't take full advantage of this room. There was a good size tv in the lounge and also in the main bedroom. There was lovely views of the sea and harbour, especially from the roof terrace which again had been a well thought out add on to the building, this space is shared with another 2 apartments, it was perfect for morning coffee or a few drinks before heading into town on an evening. I will never book anywhere else if I was to go back to Scarborough. Perfect.

The flat was immaculate, clearly very recently refurbished to a high standard. Comfortable beds, good shower and an easy to use coffee machine. It is located right next to the West Pier so a perfect location for those looking to stay in a busy, bustling area. The roof terrace is a lovely place for morning coffees or evening drinks with a fantastic view of the harbour and the castle.

A bright, modern apartment situated centrally. Excellent facilities and a large space. Ideal for families for couples. I cannot recommend highly enough.

This is clever modern development of three excellent flats with a great roof terrace, virtually on South Beach. We had the top floor flat which meant plenty of stairs to reach it but the best light and views once there. Also meant we were somewhat higher above the noisiness that is Scarborough on a bank holiday weekend. Parking is a challenge. Arriving by train would be sensible. There is no street parking beyond forty minutes (despite what the information says) and all the car parks are pricey.

Beautiful apartment in an ideal location. Looks exactly like the photos and the hosts were extremely kind and helpful. 5 stars would recommend to open
