As someone who has worked in hospitality my opinion is no matter what price bracket accommodation falls under there is no excuse for poor housekeeping. Many items in the kitchen were either inadequate, dirty or broken. Having to repair a tap flooding water is not what I expected to attend within an hour of arriving. The bed mattresses were of the poorest quality and extremely uncomfortable. There was a noticeable smell of what can only be described as cat urine on entering the kitchen. Cobwebs in various placed that again shows lack of housekeeping. The bathroom was fitted out visually ok but nowhere to hang a towel or bathrobe etc. My opinion of Host & Stay is… What is the point of them? What exactly do they do? They shirk responsibility and dump issues and financial details back onto Air b n b. Although the property was in the same village where Host & Stay are located, they have farmed out to an overseas team to deal with any problems. Poor business model.

The worst accommodation we have ever stayed in. The location was dreadful with rubbish around and a dumped settee. No care given to the decor and dirty marks all over the woodwork. Two tiny pans to cook in and no washing machine as promised. Not a single picture on the wall to relieve the monotony of the miserable grey walls. Not even a bottle of milk on arrival. Advertised as for four people but far too tiny for that. A dreadful experience.

Nice little place for our weekend stay. No secure outside space for the doggies but inside was lovely and was a great base for the weekend. There is a little parking either at the end of terrrace or on the triangle near the pub. Pub was good and did tasty pizzas and other meals. Good base for a weekend to drive 10 minutes to the sea.

Nice cottage, just the location of it isn't great, the track and road name is not sign posted, don't park up there either, park across the road, the cottage itself was lovely, no garden though, neighbours not a good selling point when they're smoking outside of where you're staying(funny fags at that) Overall the cottage is nice, too far from Whitby, Saltburn is nice though

Absolutely terrible property which shouldn't be listed at all. The place was dirty and smells of foist. The outside is in need of a tidy up with litter and an old mattress in the yard. This isn't a pet friendly property as there is nowhere safe for dogs to go outside. We checked in , then left and got a refund. DO NOT BOOK THIS!!!!!!!

The house was lovely and clean which made our stay comfortable. It was in a good location for us as we enjoy taking our dog on long scenic walks, these were a drive away but not far, there's a lovely wood walk 10 minute drive away called Errington woods. There was a bottle of milk in the fridge for us on arrival, coffee, tea and sugar also. It says there's no internet but there is, the tv has Netflix on, Freeview play, amazon prime (you have to log into your own accounts which wasn't an issue) Its a nice property for a base stay really. The property was quite hard to find, when you turn of the main road there's a really steep hill with a very tight turning where you cant even open the car doors its that tight. This maybe could be added onto the booking information. we ended up leaving the car on the road opposite outside the duke william pub without any issues. It states there is a garden, there isn't. The property has a lot of areas that could be improved just to give it that little extra, E.G. the toilet seat is too small for the toilet so there's a gap at the front, there's only one small mirror which you can see on the mantlepiece in the photos advertised ,the taps are really wobbly just little odd jobs. (none of this affected our stay its just something you notice that stays in your mind) another thing that should be in the booking information pack which is there when you arrive, is that you have to preheat the hot water on the boiler.

The property was not finished, the log burner did not appear to have been tested. We ended up leaving and booking elsewhere.

Property lovely once heating issues Resolved. Living room needs to come inline with the rest of property and walk way up to property needs landscaping. As a base great and could be a wonderful bolt hole with more attention to detail. As surrounding areas absolutely beautiful.
