The location and view of the Abbey. 5 minute walk to harbour or pavilion. Very airy apartment in a fab location. Well equipped. Was clean except for dishes.

Some dishes, glasses, pot had dried food on them.No soap in bathroom..Didn't affect my stay but rather annoying.

Light and bright, great view, spacious for two. Comfy bed. Good location.

Cigarette butts left on floor of balcony terrace outside. We moved the sofa for a better view of the abbey and it was dirty underneath. Could hear other apartment users, doors banging, furniture moving, feet on stairs.

Did not know it was top floor apartment as would not of booked

het uitzicht

kleine badkamer, veel trappen op

Excellent location with lovely views, huge comfortable bed and a nice spacious apartment with everything you need.

Nothing

Location

The apartment was dusty in places like under tthe bed.

Views & location, very comfortable bed

The stairs

Very nice and spacious. Close to amenities.

Nothing all was well

the number on the key safe did not match the number given we had to try a few

The view from the flat.

Everything we needed, comfortable & good value for money.

Shower could of been a bit more powerful, but it was ok.

Bed was huge and very comfortable, loved the little extras, the shower gels etc.
Great views of the Abbey too

Later check out would have been nice, but not the end of the world

The building was clean and safe. The apartment was very clean with stunning views of the Abbey.

Bathroom was very cold.

We thought the apartment was very nice.
It was very clean and well equipped.
Ideal location.

Bed was a bit hard for me but my wife slept like a log.
TV reception was very poor, it kept distorting for the duration of our stay, but fortunately we're not telly addicts.

Very Comfy bed, nice location with abbey views.

Unfortunately the bathroom floor hadn't been hoovered before our arrival, there was a large number of short and curlys on the floor!

Good location, great views, well equipped.

The apartment itself was spacious and clean. Nice big bed and lots of space in the living area. Great amenities and the Nespresso coffee was delicious. Plenty of extra bedding if needed and the sunrise view over the Abby is truly stunning.

Street parking is included with the stay on allocated streets, however finding a space in the correct streets was near impossible. You also have to go up to the apartment to collect the parking scratch card I understand this is the best way to get the pass however it is up 2 flights of stairs, so brace for a fair bit of walking on arrival.
Also add an additional £25 or so to your budget for a non refundable damage insurance.

Great location, very comfortable and well equipped with good communication from Host and Stay

Bathroom could do with an update but was reasonably clean.

Beautiful clean apartment

Fantastic location

3rd floor steps to conquer every outing

Stunning location, brilliant views.

Communication was really poor. Got in touch as soon as we arrived re issues and expected them to be rectified, they weren't and I was fobbed off. Cigarette butts on the balcony, entire flat smelled of cigarette smoke on arrival. Only two tea bags and two coffee pods for a 2night stay! Marks on towels and pillowcase. Beautiful view and it could be amazing but just felt like it was run in as cheaply as possible and they don't care about the quality of your stay. Very disappointed.

Clean throughout and comfortable and cosy.. Like a home from home... Had everything we needed for our stay. Great location and great views of Whitby Abbey.. Loved the balconies and sea view.. Would definitely recommend host and stay at Abbey court and will definitely stay again. Was lovely and quiet too.

Crockery put away dirty from previous visitor.
large stain on the sofa
complimentary conditioner already opened and had been used
Generally poor cleanliness.
stairway very dirty

Location.
View of the Abbey.
Coffee machine (after we emptied the capsules and cleaned it).
Spacious living area.

Having to empty capsules and clean coffee machine from previous occupants.
Utensils in drawer were greasy.
Toilet roll holder was broken.
TV remotes omg, two different ones to use and the most complicated.
Shower outdated and water temperature hit and miss.
Mould in the shower.
Only one parking permit left, had to spend my holiday time chasing to get more.
Reminders of checking out, didn't need one let alone four! One the night before, two on the morning of departure and one when I got home that afternoon.
Absolute overload of emails, ridiculous.
No consistency when dealing with their 'customer service'; in one conversation must have spoken to four different people.
Host and stay illegally took £260 as a damage deposit, no policy states this and they and couldn't provide proof. Still waiting for my money back even though been home for nearly a week, no one should have to wait up to 14days for this back.
Certainly wouldn't use host and stay again or recommend.
Please see their response ?

Very spacious and clean apartment. Just a five minute walk to the centre and stunning views

Nothing

Fantastic apartment, not too far to walk to the harbour, great views of the abbey
Huge comfy bed and good shower.
Would definately stay here again.

Nothing we didnt like!

Everything location the views and apartment really spacious everything you need home from home definitely book again and tell friends

There was nothing I didn't like about my stay

Absolutely super spacious flat to stay in in Whitby for a couple !
Superb views of the Abbey ruins and very close to the sea, harbour and local shops.
Very comfortable bed and lounge. We enjoyed breakfast on the small balcony. Parking was possible in a neighbouring street with the passes given.

Nothing !

The apartment is stunning inside and outside. View of the North sea and Abbey. Gulls perch on the balcony. Beautiful bedroom and the bed is like sleeping on a huge fluffy cloud.

Nothing

It was stuning. The apartament was close to the beach and to the town centre and the balconies didn't fail to stun me everytime with a wonderful view of Whitby. It was generally really cozy and the bed was extremly comfy. Strongly reccommend and I would definitely come back.

It's close to the coast, in a suburb called West Cliff which has a promenade, ice cream and even mini-golf. The bed was comfortable, and the apartment generally was in good repair and well equipped. There's a small balcony of sorts, though you have to climb through the window to get onto it. There are a few seagulls around as you'd expect, but they weren't noisy enough to be a problem. The hosting company have compiled quite a lot of information about the apartment which they've put in an app, something I wish more of them did.

It's up four not two flights of stairs, a total of 38 plus the 7 to get into the building. That is, it's not on the floor immediately above the ground floor, it's the one above that. It's a sun trap, which could be an issue around July/August when it could get extremely hot (bring your own cooling fan), and it could use blackout curtains on the bedroom windows. There were repeated problems with the hot water, and yes I did report that at the time. The parking permit is of limited value as there's unlikely to be any street parking available, especially in good weather or in high season, so sadly you'll probably be in West Cliff car park at £9 a day.

Dealing with a host company is never going to be as good as with the owner direct, and this one did seem to struggle to respond effectively at times - I'm aware that they manage a number of other properties, so let's say they were busy with other people.

West Cliff is supposed to have a lift from the cliff top promenade down to the beach, but it hasn't been working for ages, so expect to climb up and down which could be a problem if you intend taking deck chairs, sun shades etc.

The location of the apartment. It was clean and easy to get to.

Parking was a bit hit and miss but that is not the apartments fault. Luckily we did manage to park near by. The WiFi did not work, not a problem for us but if you're relying on it don't

Amazing apartment, kitchen facilities like at home, clean, modern and tidy, views of whitby Abbey from living area. Location perfect didn't use the car for 3 days

Tv remote was not very user friendly
No lift and apartment on 2nd floor, not a problem for us though

We were kept well informed about the booking regarding check in , apartment was spotlessly clean and contained everything we needed. Great location too .Will definitely book again ?

Area outside could do with bit of tidy up , doesn't affect the stay though.

Comfortable & very clean. Quiet. Location was great, close to town centre & good view of the abbey through the window. Easy to park.

Very little, it was really good.
The only issue we had was we weren’t left enough parking permits to cover our whole trip, but once we rang the office someone came & dropped another off.

Property was very nice. Enjoyed our stay

The location is great very close to all the main attractions in Whitby. The apartment was clean and well presented with all the amenities you would expect. Plenty of cooking appliances, glasses and cups.

the bathroom heater wouldnt turn on hence the room was cold

The location was excellent.

The dining table was too small and the dining chairs uncomfortable.

Great location. Good facilities. Clean and comfortable. There was even a balcony with views of Whitby Abbey.

The bed was really comfortable but it was 2 singles clipped together. That was ok, as it made up a super king, but the king size sheet, bedding and quilt weren't big enough.

how it was like a home away from home, nice to come home to a apartment rather than a small tiny hotel room

the internet across Whitby had gone out so only had limited television to what’s was on tv but not the hotels fault!

cosy and great location

couldn’t work out how to work bathroom radiator

One of the best apartments we have stayed in.
Views of the Abbey, the sea if you go onto one of the two balconies.
Very comfortable and roomy, well set up kitchen and seating.
A pleasant, if hilly, walk to town or the Abbey.
we were very comfortable here for eight nights.
Parking is taken care of with two day passes.

Apart from climbing the stairs??. Nothing.

The location

Mirror too small and too high in the bathroom

Great central location. Easy to park nearby at that time of the year (winter). Incredibly comfortable bed. Good views of Whitby Abbey ruins from the living room window

The table is rather small for eating meals - was ok for breakfast.

Nice apartment but only issue is the communication about the parking.
Lovely and clean place

Absolutely beautiful apartment, the facilities were amazing with the kitchen being apart of the lounge area. We had the most amazing time and love the access onto the balcony seeing the amazing views of Whitby

There was not one floor, maybe a television in the bedroom perhaps but other than that 0 floors

Lovely location. Good accommodation. Well equipped. Very comfortable.

Sadly the Host and Stay communication was far too excessive and repetitious Email overload .I received information about leaving as soon as I arrived!!

It is a lovely apartment with nice furniture, and is in quite a good location for accessing the centre of Whitby. If they sort the noisy bedroom radiator then I think this would be a brilliant apartment. But I will never stay in a place managed by Host & Stay again.

"Host & Stay". Everything about this company leaves a bad taste in my mouth. A £250 security deposit is required, which seems excessive for a one night stay, but fair enough. On booking, it says that the deposit is due on arrival at the property, but the umpteen emails from Host & Stay demanding payment in advance and threatening to cancel the reservation suggest otherwise. Further, as a customer you will have to pay a £10 admin fee for the privilege of paying the mandatory £250 deposit, which was certainly not made clear at the time of booking. But don't worry (sarcasm intended), Host & Stay give you the option of straight-up paying £25 as an alternative to the £250 deposit. The company you go through to pay the deposit gives you one timescale for having the money returned, and Host & Stay gives you another even longer timescale. Host & Stay insisted I give them a check-in time - despite the fact that check-in is by collecting a key from a lock box - and then the day before the stay they told me I wouldn't be able to check-in until a later time (they made that decision with no consultation with me). Considering the large number of emails received from Host & Stay (before, during, and after the stay) it all felt so automated and impersonal. Everything about this just feels - as the customer - that you are being taken advantage of. A colleague of mine recently stopped in a different property managed by Host & Stay in Whitby and very much agrees with this sentiment.

There was quite a lot of cutlery in the kitchen drawer, but some of it clearly hadn't been cleaned.

The bedroom radiator - essential during the recent sub-zero temperatures - was quite noisy and interrupted our sleep. So in cold weather you can have a warm or quiet bedroom, but not both at the same time.

It was tricky to find the correct key lock box.

Our trip coincided with a period of heavy snow. Unfortunately, all the communications I received from the host company were automated (aggressive messages about deposits) and completely failed to mention the roads into town were inaccessible (the police turned us around and the abandoned cars along the A171 made national news). Travelling with a pregnant partner obviously wouldn't have been safe. The host company 'missed' my messages and is insisting I contact for a refund. Naturally, are telling me to contact the host company.

I'm sure the property is lovely (the pictures and location look great). Unfortunately, the company hosting the apartments are pretty terrible – I would avoid.

Nice apartment. Lovely big comfortable bed.

The front door was banged a lot.

we’ll equipped a massive comfy bed Great views
of the Abbey good location

The stairs up to apartment due to arthritis

it was in a great location easy walk to the town centre, it was very clean and tidy and enjoyed our short stay

the front room didn’t have any curtains or blinds on the windows, no privacy and in the morning the sun was blinding

well located comfortable accommodation with lovely view of the abbey

everything was lovely, would have been even better with a coffee machine and could have liked an extra loo roll but these are minor details and didn’t spoil our stay

lovely views and comfy furniture. wonderful location.

the kitchen wasn’t as clean as I would like. the washing up bowl and draining board were both dirty so I had to wash them before I could do the dishes.

the property had everything we needed and it was cosy and comfortable, milk in the fridge on arrival with tea coffee and sugar too. the bed was very comfy too.

Great location and beautiful view of the Abbey

I felt it was overpriced for what it was. we stay in Whitby a few time a year so have a good idea of what you get for your money.

Beautiful flat in amazing location, but quite expensive. You will not be able to park, the road is very busy, so you’ll have to spend £15-20 parking elsewhere.

apartment was spotless and the view from the lounge was fantastic

Great location, Spotless and well equipped.

Communal Areas could do with a lick of paint

Location was perfect. Just a short couple of minute walk to the harbour. Nice and quiet of an evening aswell. Spacious apartment.

Comfortable and clean. Lovely aspect and easy to get to Whitby. Quiet at night. Although busy outside it was good to get free parking.

A lot of stairs. No lift

Very interesting town

Fantastic location, beautiful view from every window

The location and how well the apartment was equipped.

There was a sofa bed in the sitting room but no curtains or blinds at the windows. Privacy was arranged by draping a blanket over the lower half of both windows.

Blinds on the windows in the living area. Little more privacy in the evening.

Apartment was lovely with everythng you would need and some extras including fresh milk, tea, coffee.

a little issue with parking but that was sorted promptly.

The location of the apartment is great - you can see the Abbey from the living room and we loved having access to 3 balconies! The windows open really wide and were great for letting in a sea breeze when the heat wave hit.
The apartment itself is beautiful. Has everything you could need and the bed was enormous and very comfortable. Very good oven, lots of storage space and the seating in the living room was comfortable. Iron / clothes airer for when we washed our clothes TV was very good too - lots of options for viewing e.g. Netflix / live TV / Amazon prime.
Apartment was also clean but a little dusty in areas so thought this could have been improved on.

During our stay we were told maintenance would be visiting and needed our key so we had to leave it in the lock box when we went out. They arrived before we left so we handed the key over to them directly. When we returned they had gone to get a plumbing part and had taken our key with them and not left it in the box. We were locked out of the flat for going on half an hour! Not really the lettings agency’s fault but we could have done without having to juggle the key during our stay and would have appreciated a spare one being dropped round!
The shower was powerful but very temperamental! I suspect the thermostat in it is on the blink.
The duvet we had was a very thick winter one which wasn’t ideal as we were in the middle of summer! Not a huge issue but would have liked thinner duvet.
There was tea / coffee etc in the apartment for our arrival but no milk - again not a huge issue but would have been nice to have arrived and been able to have a hot drink. We could have also have used some more towels being provided.

Also, the parking can be a bit of a nightmare - the parking permit needs to be changed every two days so set a reminder so you don’t forget! Also we were there when a fair ground was set up on the cliff top down the road so loads of pay for parking was suspended. Therefore it was very difficult to find a car parking space the last couple days of our stay.

good location
very clean
beautiful views
everything we expected and more

No pen to fill out the parking permit, we had to go out and look for one
bed was too hard for us

Great flat with amazing view of the Abbey . Location is perfect and short distance to all the key parts of Whitby

superb host communication checking -in if everything was ok

Great location, very comfy bed lovely living room with view.

Very heavy fire doors could do with better wedges from hall to living room.

Couldn’t log into Wi-Fi using the login details at the property. Used 3 different devices and was unable to locate network of property when devices searched for network. I did tell host & stay and received a prompt response but did eventually give up.

plenty of space, comfortable, great bed, balcony

no slow close on the doors, ours was very noisy, and if the place was full/busy we would have heard this right through the building until everyone was settled, as we could hear others within the building. toilet paper was primary school size

Perfect location and apartment.

light, clean, everything we needed, great location and views

it’s not that I didn’t like it but odd that no curtains in the front room, it didn’t bother us though

This is a very nice flat in a great location, loved the little balconies, but I found the pre registration process following booking on Airbnb long winded and time consuming, and the first time I have had to do this on a Airbnb booking, the other frustration was arriving and finding the Wi-Fi not working, it was clearly not been working for a while and was a line issue, unpaid bill/line fault? Issue was that mobile signal was poor for my network and left me struggling to do what I needed online. I did message but was told to ring the office!! Why do I have to ring when I messaged?? Frustrating!! It’s a shame these issues happened as otherwise it’s the perfect place for a visit to Whitby.

tidy. clean and good location

lots of stairs and faulty Wi-Fi

the location was really good for everything

was an issue with the internet

Great modern apartment on upper level quite a lot of steps to the room - giving a very nice view of the Abbey, spacious and comfortable, five minute walk to sea front, could get used to apartment living now!

No WiFi or internet!

the apartment location was good -easy to park nearby. Guest services were responsive. Apartment was clean and cosy.

The initial lockbox key code was incorrect - had to contact guest services to be told the correct code before we could get into the apartment. No curtains on the lounge windows.

Big, comfy bed, great location, great views

Blinds needed in both the living room and bedroom - it’s basically light in there as soon as the sun’s up.
It was nice that milk was left in the fridge but a shame it was two days out of date.

Modern, clean and compact

Lack of shelves in bathroom

beautiful apartment, great facilities, very clean, the bed was a little hard for me but that’s personal preference.

the bed was a little hard but that just my personal preference

Perfect location as is close enough to walk into Whitby but not too close for all the noise. Apartment had everything required would definitely stay here again.

Great apartment in a fantastic location. Apartment had everything we needed and would definitely visit again!

Lovely apartment in a super location - really well kitted out kitchen, very clean throughout and fantastic views. A great place to stay in Whitby.

Great views from the living room of the Whitby Abbey, everything is in walking distance, very clean, good facilities.

Nothing really.

The property was just as described and expected. It was clean and perfect for the weekend.

n/a

Excellent apartment with lovely views. Clean and comfortable with everything we needed. Great location for exploring Whitby.

The views were really good from the apartment. The balconies were a really good addition to the property. All the facilities in the room were top notch.

With it being the school holidays trying to park near the apartment was very difficult. Someone who was in the building thought it was okay for their dog to bark intermittently throughout night two of our stay!

Really nice place to stay in a great location. Flat itself was great and the views were amazing. Close to the beach (at the bottom of the cliffs) for a swim or walk on the beach. Had a bit of trouble fining the property so make sure you get full details of the location for a less stressful check in than we had.

central, clean and tidy. everything catered for

couch could possibly be a bit more comfortable, but that is the only thing

Location was brilliant with excellent views of the Abbey from the balcony. The apartment had lots of cleaning supplies available which made me feel more relaxed during Covid. The apartment was full of excellent information, a few books, compendium of games and a comfy bean bag to chill on. Table and chairs are available that can be taken out on to any of the three balconies in the apartment.

Do not park on the drive outside the apartment. We were intentionally blocked in by a resident due to us incorrectly thinking we were able to park there. Very aggressive behaviour for a genuine mistake. The bed was very hard but not too uncomfortable.

Nothing to not like.
My only thing was the charge for cleaning I think is very expensive

Loved the location
Amazing view of the Abbey
Very clean
Lovely comfy bed
All the little touches were great

The apartment was clean and comfy. Perfect location for walking into town or to the beach

Nice views

Apartment was dirty, poor quality furnishings and fixtures, definitely not the standard I would expect for the price, also parking is a real issue

Convenient location, big bed, good views
Quiet
Good WiFi

Sink drain was blocked on arrival and couldn’t be fixed until the next morning.
No curtains or blinds in living room
No dishwasher

The place is lovely, has everything you need and in a good location. The place was clean and very comfortable.

Nothing

Great location and views. Extremely comfortable bed and lovely shower. A nice, spacious apartment for a couple to spend a few days in. Kitchen and living areas both really good as well.

Would be nice to receive the parking scratchcard a few days prior to the stay at the property to avoid any parking headaches upon arrival. Lack of blinds/curtains in living area at night - felt like maybe people could look in when lights were on.

The apartment is great with fantastic views. It is situated in a quiet area but is very close to the bustling centre of Whitby and also very close to a fantastic long sandy beach. The only drawbacks were the tired and grubby communal entrance and stairs, and parking is an issue.

A lovely little flat in the heart of Whitby.

This apartment has lots of positives, the location is second to none and the view you get of the abbey from the lounge window is spectacular… the apartment was really clean and well maintained.

However there are a few negatives…

There is no lift so would not suite those needing accessibility, the lights in the main corridors did not work at night, so when coming in late you had to walk up 4 flight of stairs in darkness or with a torch from your phone… only one set of towels was provided during a 5 night stay and we had to wash them ourselves.

All in all a pleasant stay and would return in the future

Cleanliness

The kitchen sink was blocked and the washing machine was releasing a foul smell on arrival. There was no hand-wash in the bathroom.

Dining table and chairs uncomfortable could not use chairs. Far too hard. This was mentioned in previous reviews. A bit of dust behind door in lounge but nothing too bad. Would I stay there again but only for the fit too many stairs had a major operation and steps made it hard for me. Had already booked before I had my operation date.

The light streaming into both rooms in a morning and opening all the windows to let it into the appt, beautiful

2 flights of stairs, its an age thing!

The style and comfort of the flat. A really good location.

Not much really.

Great location. Very clean. Parking permit provided.

The bed is very big but the mattress is hard ... ok if you like a hard mattress. Slight smoky smell when we arrived, but overall a great quality place to stay

Light and airy with a great view of Whitby Abbey. Great location. Large, comfortable bed, very clean and well equipped.

Struggled to park on the street. Table and chairs in the living area were uncomfortable.

My husband and I had a fantastic stay in the appartment. The view and natural light are wonderful. The bed is huge and super comfy and it’s equipped with everything you could need. We would definitely stay again. Thanks so much

Great flat for a two person holiday of a week or less - flat is not huge but living area is very comfortable, views are wonderful, location is perfect and entire place was a pleasure to stay in. Highly recommend for singles or couples looking for a base to relax in Whitby.

we walked into the living room and didn't expect to see the view we had. I thought it had been a library photo but wasn't Was stunned with the thought gone into the apartment and would book again
