It was clean everything was like new and they had everything in the cottage that was needed for an enjoyable holiday<br/><br/>The steep path going to the cottage

Absolutely gorgeous property. Close to everything we wanted to go to. The weather was a little chilly so we put the radiators on and it was soon cosy and warm. The decor is beautiful and we loved the colour scheme too. We couldn’t believe how nice it all was. The water pressure was excellent in the shower. The beds were comfortable and everything was clean.<br/><br/>If I had to say anything it’s that the cottage is located on a steep incline that is cobblestoned. However there is a handrail and my 84 year old mother who uses a stick, was able to manage it better than I thought she would.

Centrally located, clean and comfortable apartment.

The property was spotlessly clean and comfortable! It had such a cosy homely feel to it! Perfect for a weekend away!<br/><br/>We struggled with parking, so maybe more suggestions for car parking but the property definitely made up for that!

The cottage was a decent size and decorated to a good standard.<br/><br/>There was no heating during a very cold and wet weekend in a property that obtains little to no natural light or heat. This was made worse by having to stay in the property for much of Sunday because of the weather outside. This one factor meant that the other qualities of the property could not make up for this. This problem was not rectified during my stay because Host and Stay do not operate on weekend so there was no way to solve the problem and I had to just put up with being very cold.

Lovely little property in great location except on a very steep slope with no parking nearby and no garden or yard. Definitely not dog friendly. Host & Stay are an absolutely appalling company who do not care about their customers at all. They were happy to claim there was free on site parking prior to my booking (I even posed the question directly as it seemed impossible to me) and then when I found out this was actually completely false they provided no assistance or advice or support or compensation or anything. I called their office and were just told "oh sorry"; no one ever called me back. They ignored my first request for the complaints form and after I did get one and sent it in I have no response at all. After you pay for your booking they will also then demand an extra damage waiver fee and provide a whole load more rules like dogs are not allowed upstairs yet there is no gate fitted to stop them. I also discovered an Amazon Echo Dot secretly plugged in under a cupboard.

Nice interior<br/><br/>The smell

The cottage was even better than we expected and really cosy! The location is perfect providing that you don’t have any mobility issues due to to the steep path the cottage is located on; literally less than a minute walk down to the centre yet it is still fairly private and quiet.<br/>It was straightforward finding the cottage and there was ample parking on Cliff St car park at all times which is roughly 300 yards away (you’ll be lucky to get much closer than this wherever you stay in Whitby!). <br/>There was a parking permit provided and left in the cottage but didn’t get chance to look around for the applicable parking zones but this is ideal if you’re on a budget as it will save roughly £10 per day.<br/>Thank you for a fantastic stay, we will definitely be returning!

Fantastic. Would highly recommend both the host and the premises

It was superb

Good location<br/><br/>The key code information was not emailed as they said, incorrectly, that i had not paid the deposit waiver. <br/> When i finally got through, after several failed calls, due to the call being terminated as there was no one to answer, i had to email my receipt as proof. This is rather frustrating when there are parking restrictions and whilst standing in the dark cold evening air. The bottom roller was missing from the shower door. The 3 parts that needed re fitting were located in the bathroom cabinet and soap dish tray in the shower cubicle. These were refitted as required. This should of been picked up on the previous inspection.

Fab little cottage. Perfect for a family of 4. Location was great very close to all local attractions. Parking wasn’t an issue and easy to find.<br/>A few small issues with heating and hot water but managed to figure it all out. <br/>Responsive host. We would 100% return and recommend.

We had a really wonderful stay here, the location in particular and the fact it was dog friendly was just superb! <br/>We actually got engaged on this trip, so it really was very special and it was lovely to have a home from home to enjoy it in.<br/>The only reason I have given 4* rather than 5* is because the hot water didn’t work one evening and it was past office hours, so we were unable to resolve it. Other than that it was perfect & had everything that we needed. Thank you ?

Lovely stay, very clean and homely we definitely would love to stay again.

Amazing little cottage, beautiful inside and great location, a stone throw away from all shops, bars and restaurants - amazing place, amazing town, thank you so much - we’ve had an incredible weekend x

Great location<br/><br/>Nothing

Beautiful cottage in a gorgeous location. <br/>Warm, cosy, high quality furnishings and very well equipped with everything that is needed for a comfortable stay. <br/>Fabulous location, a few steps away from the main centre area. <br/>Host & stay were very receptive to messages and we’re on hand to help with any queries. <br/>Absolute gem of a cottage, would 100% recommend and we will be back to stay again. <br/>Just one point I’d like to make, I’m not sure the beautiful lounge cream carpet will hold up for long against dogs, i love dogs but I don’t think this cottage is ideal for dogs.

Very cosy furniture very nice bedding very central ?<br/><br/>The rug in living room had a kink in it bit of a trip up hazard

Beautiful, modern cottage and spotlessly clean. Perfect location as central but not noisy. Thoughtful extras included shampoo etc, dishwasher tablets and enough teabags, milk and toilet paper to get you started! Clear instructions for everything you need. Will definitely be returning!

Great location!!! Perfect in the centre. House felt very homely. Just note if you are driving it can be a steep 5/10 mins walk down from the nearest car park! we did have issues with the heating and it was very cold the first night- the host informed us of a manual for the heating system but it did not seem to work as they had it on a timer system. Other than that it was a great stay and I would recommend to others :) thank you!

perfect location near centre but quiet at same time<br/><br/>no parking space but parked 5 mins walk away. <br/>I wouldn’t want to stop in winter as pier lane is on a hill and could be very slippery in icy conditions

The cottage was clean and tidy and a good size for just the 2 of us. It's in a good location for walking to most places in Whitby. Something that I can't remember seeing in the description is that the cottage is on quite a steep pedestrianised cobbled lane and because of this would be unsuitable for anybody with mobility problems.

Well appointed, modern, comfortable & clean. Good kitchen & bathroom. Excellent shower. Central location, near to everything. Pets can stay free.<br/><br/>Hard to find and parking away from the property. On a steep alleyway. Cottage is dark inside & you always need a light on. Host & stay ask for an extra fee to cover damage, after you have booked. (£20.00)

The bedrooms, the kitchen, lounge, bathroom. Location. Friendly support when needed help with boiler. X<br/><br/>Nothing as everything was to hand and location was perfect. X

Perfect little cottage with plenty of space for me, my wife and our two children. <br/>Everything was well presented and seemed of a high spec and the location was perfect. <br/>Parking was a 5/10 minute walk away bit that was no issue for us really<br/>We'd have no qualms about rebooking should we stay at Whitby again

Stunning little cottage in a fabulous location! Communication was great and friendly. Would definitely come again and recommend.

Fantastic cottage, perfectly located close to the town. <br/>Cottage & parking was a little difficult to find but fine once we found it.<br/>Cottage immaculate, bed very comfy with lovely soft bed linen. Plenty of towels supplied.<br/>We will definitely stay here again .

Wonderful stay in Whitby. Beautiful property and very helpful/ responsive hosts. Thanks you.

Location was doesn't get any better and the house exceeded our expectations, the hosts were great as well, would definitely recommend and stay here again.<br/><br/>Cant think of anything I didn't like apart from the fact the telly didn't have normal tv programs such as ITV etc but it had Netflix and stuff so didn't bother us too much.

The property was spotlessly clean, modern and the decor was really nice. The location was great, really close to Whitby harbour front. All facilities were available and easy to use. Breckon cottage was really comfortable and cosy, perfect for our stay!<br/><br/>No negatives to say!

We have had a fantastic weekend at Breckon Cottage. The location is perfect, less than a 1 minute walk and you are down by the harbour and all the local amenities. 5 minutes and you can be down on the beach. The cottage itself is immaculate and has absolutely everything we could possibly have needed. For food we would recommend The Pier Inn and The Marine which are both a 1-2 minute walk away. We also had the most amazing Sunday lunch at The White Horse and Griffin. The cottage is accessed up a steep cobbled slope which some people may find difficult - my Mum who is 75 found it ok as there is a railing that can be used. For us though, being hidden up a side street, was one of the things we loved! Close to everything but a peaceful retreat from the busy harbour area when needed. We would absolutely love to visit again.

Nice place that's super close to town.

The cottage was immaculate, beautifully presented and one of the best equipped properties that we have stayed in. If you’re looking to stay in Whitby harbour in would highly recommend.
