Property Highlight #3

In the Centre of Whitby

Burns Yard is located in the heart of Whitby off Flowergate - the oldest and most iconic area of the town.

The Space
Burns Yard has style and class in abundance. This quirky holiday home is based across three floors and you’ll be wowed by the modern interiors.

As you walk into the hallway, head straight up the stairs and you’ll find the bedroom and bathroom on the first floor. The bedroom is a clean and bright space featuring a large, extravagant bed and contemporary lights which hang above marble bedside tables. Dark wooden beams contrast perfectly with the white walls and grey colour scheme. A floor length gold mirror and blue suede chair complete the room and add even more glamour.

In the bathroom you’ll find grey patterned tiles and sleek silver hardware. The room features a spacious walk in shower and a white, gloss vanity cabinet.

Head up the stairs again to the second floor and you’ll discover the open plan kitchen and living area. Wow! With sloping ceilings and breath-taking views of Whitby and the Abbey, this space is very impressive. The dark blue kitchen creates a cosy feel which contrasts beautifully with the clean, white walls. You’ll have everything you need for your stay as the kitchen is equipped with an oven, hob, microwave, toaster, kettle, fridge and dishwasher.

Relax on the eclectic, velvet sofa with a book or switch on the flat screen TV to catch up on your favourite shows.

Enjoy meals at the marble dining table – whether it’s breakfast after a lazy morning or an evening dinner with your loved one. You can open up the window completely and let the heat drift in during the summer months.

Host & Stay are committed to our owners that their homes are protected during guest bookings. For this reason, we require all our guests to transfer a Damage Deposit (refundable, subject to an administration charge) or, to purchase an Accidental Damage Waiver which will cover you for up to £500.00 of accidental damage during your stay.

Burns Yard is located in the iconic Flowergate – one of the oldest and most historic streets in Whitby. You’ll find cosy cafes, restaurants and shops lining the street, so the apartment is ideally located. The Blue Flag West Cliff beach and promenade is just a short 5-minute walk from the property. On Pier Road, you’ll find fun arcades and plenty of fish restaurants where you can sample the catch of the day. The other side of Whitby is full of narrow, medieval streets dotted with boutiques and pubs. Climb the famous 199 steps up to the Church of Saint Mary. You can also discover the renowned ruined Whitby Abbey, which was the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s gothic novel ‘Dracula’. Step outside of Whitby and you’ll uncover a haven of woodland and moorland. Whitby forms part of the North York Moors National Park so it’s the perfect place for long walks.

Getting Around
Burns Yard is located in the centre of Whitby so the town can easily be explored on foot. Whitby train station is just a short 5-minute walk away so villages and towns along the North Yorkshire coast can easily be reached via rail. There’s also a taxi rank in close proximity to the train station. There are plenty of bus routes throughout Whitby. Hop on the X4 and you can visit beautiful coastal villages like Sandsend, Runswick Bay and Staithes. The X93 travels along the coast to Scarborough. The 95 route features plenty of quaint villages, such as Grosmont and Lealholm.

Great location beautiful view from the lounge/kitchen of the harbour and abbey would definitely stay again and recommend to friends and family

Good location, stunning views<br/><br/>Spent a while looking for this property as the postcode you are provided with is incorrect which I think sums up the competency of this company. Please spend your money with a rental company that actually respects their guests and values their money. Property was awfully maintained, in desperate need of a new coat of paint and new carpets. Most of the issues I had have previously been raised and the company had said they will be addressed but they haven’t. List of faults: Bottom drawer in bathroom is broken and really mouldy inside, the tap is kept together with tape and the rod holding the shower up is broken so will fall on you. The drawers in the freezer are smashed so you can only open the bottom one, dishwasher and kitchen blinds are broken. Sofa desperately needs replacing, it’s like sitting on a park bench. Property was dirty when I arrived, floors hadn’t been vacuumed, kitchen cupboards were sticky, surfaces were grimy and there were layers of dust snd cobwebs everywhere. Facilities weren’t great. I was given 2 sachets of coffee, two teabags, 4 sachets of sugar and four sachets of milk for 3 nights stay so you’ll need to bring your own tea/coffee things. No oil, salt or pepper in the kitchen if you want to cook and no baking trays for the oven (but there are pans, crockery and cutlery). I spent two hours on my first day locked out of this property because of a faulty lock that needed to be replaced and was unable to get hold of anyone for half an hour during this time.

Location.<br/>Lay out.<br/>Pretty clean.<br/>Great views.<br/><br/>Settee was uncomfortable <br/>Some details needing attention. Flakey paint, not 100 percent clean, loose screws at front door, partner had to unblock bathroom sink and tap fixed with electrical tape.<br/><br/>Misinformation about check out.

Loved the apartment, we were in the centre of whitby, close to all amenities, had a fabulous time.

Great location, AMAZING VIEWS and a very clean apartment. Only notes are the pillows and duvet are very cheap and not the most comfy, get around that and this place is awesome

The property really has the most amazing view and is in a great location to get everywhere.<br/><br/>The stairs up to and in the property are very steep. At the top, one side, there isn’t a side to the stairs making it difficult to climb the last bit.<br/>The lower drawer in the bathroom sink cabinet was mouldy. <br/>Not all the rings worked on the hob.

Apartment in the town centre, lovely decor and cosy

Location very good close to all amenities<br/><br/>Pans and cooking utensils dirty had not been cleaned

The view and location<br/><br/>The entrance was very tired and dirty . The bottom drawer in the bathroom was unusable . The bed was uncomfortable of which the quilt wasn’t warm / big enough for winter months

Very pleasant apartment, well equipped kitchen and lovely views of the sea and the abbey in the distance! Great location in the town centre but you need to be careful parking as it is easy to get a ticket due to the on street parking scheme. Overall a very enjoyable stay!

The set up in the flat, the location, the view.<br/><br/>It was quite shabby, that is, not well looked after - mainly in the hall and bedroom. <br/>It wasn’t anywhere near as clean as I would expect from a rental property. I actually don’t think it had been cleaned before our arrival.

Lovely modern apartment. Great location.<br/><br/>The property could do with a lick of paint & new carpets. The carpets on the stairs did smell and was extremely dirty. Also needs painting, has filled in holes which haven’t been painted over and scuff marks all over the walls. The apartment isn’t sign posted very well and can be hard to find and slightly concerning that the main front door of the building has no lock mechanism in. I had tried reaching out to the property managers several times on booking.com to ask if there was going to be any Christmas decorations up for our stay or if not I’d bring some small things myself. Upon the management company couldn’t get hold of the owner on several occasions which was slightly concerning. It also said on the downloadable hand book that check out on the day of departure was 12, so as I’d thought plenty of time. At 9:20am I got a message from the management company to say we needed to be out by 10am and that the 12pm checkout stated on the handbook wasn’t correct. Leaving me 40 minutes to quickly pack and leave before 10am. Meaning we was unable to have the time to shower or eat breakfast before check out. This was a massive inconvenience.

Good location<br/><br/>Parking scratch card not provided as promised and had to request it, it was dropped off on day 2. A little shabby, needed painting and a deep clean. Think the cleaning only goes as far as a hoover and wipe down of surfaces. There were cobwebs and dust everywhere, mould in shower, kitchen and cups, cutlery, pots and pans not clean. They don’t provide washing up liquid and the pans don’t fit in the dishwasher so I wonder if they’ve ever been washed properly. Had to wash everything before use. Stained carpets and uncomfortable furniture.<br/>Neighbours were loud at all hours.

Great location, close to everything. Quiet neighborhood. Good equipment in the apartment, free cosmetics, towels, bedding. Very comfortable bed. Free parking. Good communication with the owner.Wonderful view from the window.<br/><br/>The main radiator in the bedroom didn't work. The shower was not cleaned. There was no coffee machine available. Not enough coffee, tea and sugar for 2 people for 3 days.

Good location<br/><br/>Radiator not working in bed, no parking ticket on arrival

Location and view from living room were excellent<br/><br/>The old carpet on the stairs needs replacing or removing. Smells and was quite dirty which is understandable being that you enter the property by walking straight up the stairs from the front door.

Easy access to the box, but did not know there would be free parking voucher inside the apartments. Apartment was nicely furnished with all the crockery and cutlery needed, Sky TV but no DVD player, wouldn't suit anyone with mobility issues but sure that will be mentioned in the advert. We have a 3 legged dog and as the steps are quite steep and turn somewhat as they rise, he struggled too. First night was cold, seemed like nobody had stayed for the last few days, so no heating on and couldn't get it warm but was very toasty from next morning onwards, but would stay again. Great location and great bar across called Beer O'clock.<br/><br/>Not at all easy top find the place, the specific sat nav location took me to Clarkson Street, no idea where Burns Yard was. Had to ask a lady who lived on Clarkson Street, she'd been asked many times. Advised it was off Flowergate, down walkway, immediately after Bridgford's Estate agents - why did you not advise the same??

Excellent location - fabulous views from the apartment <br/>Comfortable accommodation <br/>Staff were very responsive and easy to reach by phone - we had some problems finding the apartment and they tried their best to help us<br/><br/>As mentioned above, the directions to find the property were poor - putting the location into Google maps sent us to a different location, so would be a good idea to make that clear for other customers <br/>The stairs to the property were very steep which we didnt mind but would be a problem for anyone with restricted mobility <br/>The £250 deposit seems high and has not yet been returned (5 days after leaving the property)

Amazing view from the lounge.<br/><br/>Felt cold, no heating in bedroom. Only 1 radiator in lounge worked. Had a damp smell when you first entered. Looked like it needed a good coat of paint, carpets grubby.

Location was good and it was modern apartment<br/><br/>Couldn’t work the TV properly and there were no instructions in the apartment . It was through sky but couldn’t get the normal channels ITV and BBC on . Very limited tea coffee and shower gels supplied .

Good location and a beautiful view<br/><br/>Duvet on bed way too small! It was like a single duvet on a double bed!

It had a sensational view, the apartment was very clean and so homey.<br/>When I next visit from Australia I will be booking again ??????????<br/><br/>The stairs lol but it was to be expected and I managed ok ?

Well appointed apartment - not for the fainthearted re the awkward amount of stairs - 3 flights. Central location for all Whitby's ammenities. All in all a good experience.

Fantastic apartment right in the centre of Whitby. Bed was super comfortable and shower was great. Would definitely stay again

Location is very close to all amenities and attractions.<br/><br/>Nothing.

Location and view<br/><br/>The very uncomfortable and heavily stained mattress.

Tired apartment needing lots of maintenance and tlc. Brilliant location and quality of furniture and kitchen but desperately in need of a good clean, flooring redoing and a repaint throughout to compare with the many other Whitby cottages we've enjoyed.

Loved everything<br/><br/>NA

Good view of the sea. Good location to amenities<br/><br/>Property felt a little unfinished - holes that had been filled in the bedroom and not sanded, brick dust on the bedroom carpet, electronic sink tap was showing its internals - to name a few. <br/>Expected a more premium property from the photos online. <br/>Stair access to the apartment was awkward - the door to the apartment opened outwards into the stairs below. The stairs at the top of the apartment to the kitchen had no safety gate. <br/>Confusion over the departure time - a text message said 10am and the checkout instructions in the guidebook stated 'no later than 12pm'.

Views .location .<br/><br/>Property and sofa had not been hovered a lot of pet hair on floor and sofa . No bar stools as shown in the pictures .

The view from the sitting room was incredible. The bedroom was lovely, the kitchen was amazing. All done up inside really well and modern.<br/><br/>The front door to the building didn't lock, so it often felt quite unsecure, but being a safe place it didn't really matter. There was a lot of paint dust as we walked in though which was quite off putting.

It was a smart little flat nice and clean and handy with all local amenities<br/><br/>It was very hot on my stay would have been better had there been air conditioning or maybe even a fan in the bedroom.

I had an amazing few days at the apartment. It’s a very relaxing space in a great location. I would definitely stay again, I highly recommend Burns Yard apartment.

Great location, parking an issue but fairly cheap council car parks are quite close to apartment.<br/><br/>Did have problems locating the apartment initially, as it is down a tiny lane.

location<br/><br/>no communication dispute several E-mails no reply’s ????.

Lovely views<br/><br/>It would be nice to have a set of draws or wardrobes in bedroom

nice location. wonderful views. free parking. nice modern decor<br/><br/>lacking basic items for self catering apartment. salt and pepper and oil. pans also poor quality for cooking. would expect more than 1 tea bag each for a 2 night stay. coffee pod machine with no coffee pods provided. mould in bathroom drawer and dirty grouting in shower.

Apartment was really nice and modern with a beautiful view of Whitby Abby and the sea. Would highly recommend A+++<br/><br/>Stairs could do with another post put in so you can navigate easier down stairs from living room. <br/>Did not like the fact that main front door couldn't be locked.<br/>Inner door to apartment lock was very Feedly to open and lock.<br/>Wasn't enough tea and coffee for the amount of days staying<br/>Could do with a better key safe

The bedroom/living space were spotless, modern with good facilities. central location, 5 minute walk from beach. lovely view of Whitby abbey<br/><br/>the stairs and entrance need some love, lots of stains on the carpet going up, stepping into the bedroom is like a separate world. The living space would benefit from an extra arm chair. <br/><br/>also the stairs are quite steep so keep in mind if you’re not very mobile.

Good location<br/><br/>The entrance hall was very dirty. <br/>Workmen in next apartment with loud radio and lots of noise <br/>Freezer leaking and towel left on the floor next to it.

The location<br/><br/>No front door lock, anyone on the street could just walk into the property, exposed wires on hot water tap that obviously did not work, but leaked into cupboard, freezer just full of ice.and cleaning was terrible.<br/>And absolutely no assistance from the property management after stay, had to go direct to booking.com.<br/>Would never go anywhere with host and stay involved again.

The apartment was nice enough , although it is needing a re paint as the walls are scuffed and lots of marks on them. The stairs are quite steep. The bedroom has no storage what so ever other than a hanging rack. Nowhere to dry your hair other than the floor . No drawers . The bedroom has ample space to at least have a dressing table . Lovely views over the Abbey. We enjoyed our stay and the apartment was quiet. The main problems are with host &stay! You have to pay a damage waiver bond after you have booked. This is a non refundable £25 extra on top of your stay or £250 returnable and £10 non refundable. We opted for the latter. From that point on we were bombarded with emails constantly even tho we had paid. I had to request a stop to the emails ( 15 in total! ) Then when we returned we didn’t get our bond back automatically I had to email to request the refund. After several emails we finally got the money owed to us. Because of this experience I will be avoiding booking with host and stay in the future. It’s a shame because the apartment was nice enoufh. If it had just been the usual booking . Com process then I wouldn’t hesitate to book again.

loved everything about this place. it’s such a cute little apartment. it was nicely decorated and clean but the best thing was the view over Whitby. The location was perfect too. can’t wait to go back!

Lovely views of Whitby, nice apartment<br/><br/>curb appeal- dirty <br/>no drawers, storage or dressing table in the bedroom -drying hair on the floor. <br/>bathroom no storage at all.<br/>constant emails and damage waiver was very excessive.

The Bed was clean comfy<br/><br/>No lock on front door didn’t feel safe . It was like an HMO property dirty smelling damp entry oven not clean ,fridge/freezer didn’t close properly all frosted up and always running. not very clean cobwebs/ dirt around sink

modern location central great view .<br/><br/>I did not like that I had to pay £250 for insurance damage days before and did not get it returned until 10 days after . they had my money for 2 weeks . I have never had to do this before and has put me off booking with this company again .

This property has not had any love, attention to detail and thought for quite a while. It’s a shame as it could be 5 star.

great views ideal location nice and modern<br/><br/>shared yard was tired and needs a freshen up

location was superb and the views were to die for !<br/><br/>that there was no mop for the floor ? I have ocd

The location was fab!<br/><br/>the key box was old and not user friendly to open and close - a new one is recommended.

Great view<br/>Great location<br/><br/>steep stairs

location, views, spec<br/><br/>lack of lock on outer door

the lounge kitchen area was excellent apart from the ceiling area above the seating area due to the angle of the roofing was a problem as was always aware of banging your head when seating on the settee otherwise the overall appearance of the apartment was excellent and we enjoyed our stay at barns Yard<br/><br/>the spiral staircase which became an issue when moving up and down on a regular basis as specialty with us being in our mature years fine for younger people. the entrance to the property from the main road at night was dark and imposing until you got to the property and turned on the outside lights a sensor light as you approached the property would probably be advantageous which would make the approach safer

The alleyway was full of rubbish all over the path I took a photo not a great first impression and some of the radiators didn’t work

A wonderful apartment, for two right in the middle of the whitby. We had a fantastic weekend and we're amazed by the view of the Abbey from the living room.

A recently renovated apartment with a great view of the town

On arrival, we was advised in the email prior to our stay, the holiday let would be found on Clarkson street. However this was not the case and previous reviews advise how difficult it is to find the accommodation. If you look for ‘the little angel pub : 18 Flowergate, Whitby YO21 3BA’. There will be an alley way facing directly opposite, which will lead you to the front door of Burns Yard Apartment. There are two apartments which provide key safes you want the one with 23 on the door. Park in the loading bay to unload then park round the corner for 2 days with permit provided which if you’re staying longer than 2 days isn’t very good as you will have to pay to park in car parks. Apartment was lovely with everything you need we couldn’t fault it. The stairs could prove tricky if you’re not very mobile though. Very cosy and would definitely recommend. Clean and tidy and plenty warm enough with the extra heaters provided! Great location too!

The view was absolutely amazing, the apartment was lovely and comfortable, everything you needed for a perfect stay.<br/><br/>The heating didn’t work in the bedroom and one in the living room. The weather was freezing, so for the first couple of days it was cold. I got in touch with yourselves and was provided with extra heater, which made all the difference. Thank you for your speedy response.

the location was great & even though tired & needing touch ups was comfortable enough<br/><br/>no security light outside so walking down an alley in total darkness, the entrance is not appealing paint chipped, & carpet filthy. the apartment wasn’t very clean the outside cupboards smeared & the glassware still had lipstick on. the electric radiators weren’t working in the bedroom or lounge so the first night was freezing. the hot water in the bathroom sink also never got warm. as a line traveller I think there should definitely be a an extra lock on the door as the one to the alley is always open

Location good and flat modern and clean.<br/>Nice and warm.<br/><br/>Bed and settee both uncomfortable.<br/>Couldn't get hot water in bathroom. Sink as tap was broken

After struggling to find this property and required some help we were pleased with the location and quality of the apartment. The views are stunning! <br/><br/>Had all the amenities that we needed and the apartment was clean. Tea and coffee was provided however no milk! <br/><br/>The stairs can be hard to manoeuvre and the apartment itself could do with some touch ups in places. <br/><br/>One key issue for us during our stay was the radiator in the room didn’t work, a replacement was provided however this didn’t get very hot, we slept in many layers to try and get warm as room was cold! <br/><br/>All in all happy with our stay!

Amazing views ..lovely apparment. Great amenities .comfy bed .well furnished<br/><br/>Little bit sprucing up in areas ..damp smell on stairs .

The views from this property were incredibly beautiful and by far the most special selling point. The bifold window meant we could enjoy them with a brew in the morning. The kitchen was well equipped and I was able to cook breakfast and a birthday dinner for my husband using the equipment. I loved the modern decor and quirky living space. The bedroom was comfortable and spacious. It is really central and surrounded by lovely pubs and shops, plus it isn’t far to the harbour.<br/><br/>Parking was a bit of a pain- like it is everywhere in Whitby! We got really lucky when we arrived and found a spot on the road directly behind. However, after a trip to Robin Hood’s Bay we had to do a lot of circling to find a space quite far away. Not the host’s fault and it was good to have the car parking cards. We arrived at about 830pm on a Friday night so I was able to pull in outside, unload and then go and park but this would be tricky if it was busy.

Veìw flat was excellent<br/><br/>Pillow s had dirty marks on

A view to die for! ???? we stayed specifically to see the Dracula show at the Abbey, and the location and view of the abbey was just perfect. We parked off the street near the apartment to unload and then found the directed parking zones for the property within an easy walking distance and a great host and location for dogs across from a dog bakery! We really enjoyed the amenities Burns Yard Apartment had to offer from tea and milk to towels and TV and a clean homey apartment. Truly a special place to stay!

Location was excellent, we really enjoyed the apartment especially the view. <br/>The parking pass was very useful, would definitely book again.

Comfortable apartment for a few days in whitby handy location to shops pubs sea front etc...the appartment is on two floors quite steep steps to second floor but ok for us .the apartment is modern and well equipped.<br/><br/>The appartment is in a building with another flat and ypu are told not to lock the main door even at night which I felt uncomfortable with .no TV in bedroom

The view from the kitchen/diner/living room is wonderful. The location - parking aside - is great. The kitchen, though small, had everything you needed.<br/><br/>Only having two days' free parking (in W zone - watch out for this). There was quite a bit of noise from neighbouring properties (someone likes their thrash metal). Niggles like the wash basin plug getting stuck, no shaving mirror directly above the basin and the electronic hot tap not being very effective (in order to get hot water, you need to run it *very* slow). When we arrived, someone had left the velux window open and the floor was covered with rain water. Mopping this up showed that the floor could have been cleaner.

Good location, good communication, amazing view over the town!

Nice stay at Burns Yard, very good location (great view of Whitby & the Abbey) <br/><br/>Steps are steep up to apartment but if you’re able then they’re not an issue. <br/><br/>Communicating with host was easy!<br/><br/>The downside was that the apartment didn’t seem very clean, especially when I’ve paid £50 cleaning charge. More attention is needed here

We have stayed at a number of great Airbnbs at a similar price point and have always been pleasantly supplied at the care given to the venue and ourselves as guests and the thoughtful touches which make a stay special. To say we were disappointed at our Host and Stay in Whitby is an understatement:<br/>1. There is no parking for more than an hour ANYWHERE near the accommodation <br/>2. The entrance was hard to find and the area outside the flat was dark, uneven, dishevelled and filled with broken furniture.<br/>3. We had to wait well past 4pm for the cleaner to finish cleaning but the floors were not clean and empty soap dispensers not thrown away.<br/>4. There were a great many more steps, which you needed to climb, to enter anywhere in the apartment than were mentioned or intimated on the description on the website.<br/>5. We were left the barest of basics on arrival - a coffee machine with an empty jar where the pods should be, value tea bags, a few teaspoons of coffee and a scant amount of sugar and two 1 pint cartons of milk. <br/>In every other apartment we have been left welcome packs of chocolate, breakfast goods and/or a bottle of Prosecco. Whilst I understand this is not obligatory the standard of thought, care and professionalism at Whitby paints a stark contrast. <br/><br/>The only good thing I could say about this flat was it was a short walk from the harbour and the nightlife. <br/><br/>I seriously suggest you give this place a wide berth, you can do much better for your money.

Tina B.

Cosy, clean, great views.

The flat itself was beautiful and had the most amazing view out from the living room window. It was a great location and very comfortable to stay in. The reason i have given it three stars is due to the floors not being cleaned they were covered in dog hair and the sofa was covered in dog hair it was evident that it had not been cleaned. Host and stay did apoligies for this however it would have been good if this could have been Rectified.

Amazing view, no need to find a bar to have a drink with a view ad this Air bnb has it already, pull up the bar stools and open the picture windows.<br/>Comfortable and clean bed , clean bathroom.

Great location to explore Whitby with such an impressive view of the Abbey. <br/><br/>Parking can be a bit tricky but we got there eventually

This little place is a gem tucked away right in the middle of Whitby with views that you never tire of. <br/><br/>Mega clean, with everything you could wish for - even a washer dryer! The pint of milk was a lovely touch as well.<br/><br/>Thank you

Was great

We loved staying here! The view was breathtaking and everything was clean and as pictured. Definitely would recommend!

I very very rarely leave reviews but feel as if something needs to be said regarding my stay.<br/><br/>Communication with staff was very argumentative (over the phone) for simple requests such a key lock box code for arrival.<br/><br/>Location is really hard to find, the only way I managed to find it was on the image of the floor plan it says the actual name where the name of the apartment on the app does not match the name on the door.<br/><br/>Upon entering the apartment opened the oven to find two used baking trays with used tin foil on top, probably from the previous guests, maybe previous previous guests, who knows??<br/><br/>There was a dirty pan in the kitchen draw, which contained food from its last guests.<br/><br/>Fridge door had finger prints and greasy marks all over it.<br/><br/>I would normally not mention any of it but just the communication from staff was just so poor, especially over the phone, very standoffish.<br/><br/>Now I don’t want to speak for all the staff at host and stay but maybe I just get dealt the wrong advisor.<br/><br/>Thanks,

What a fantastic place with the most amazing view of the abbey. We were only there for the night but the place was spotless and in a great location to enjoy Whitby. 100% would recommend and will be returning soon.

Great 2nd stay in this spotlessly clean apartment. Ideal location, and well equipped. highly recommended

Really lovely stay, perfect location (be aware it’s on quite a steep hill but all of Whitby is hilly so is to be expected) the room is lovely and the view out of the top window is worth the price alone. Definitely recommend.

To start with, the location of the property could not be better. Less than 10 minutes and you're on the harbour. Now the best thing about this place is the view ??. The property has everything you need from a chopping board to iron so you can travel lightly and will have everything for your stay. Will not hesitate to book again if visiting Whitby.

Location is perfect, shouty seagull nursing it’s young on a chimney pot, beautiful sunrise viewpoint, comfy bed<br/><br/>small bed, shouty seagull, broken cupboard panels, shower pole broken, saucepans & cutlery not 100 % clean,

Lovely central apartment with amazing views of the abbey. We had the best stay. <br/><br/>Do note though stairs are very steep and a bit uneven, if your mobility isn’t good please be aware of this as it could be a problem.

Excellent location

The location was fantastic, it was very clean and modern and the facilities were great! The view was beautiful and the sky package, although basic, was all you would need for a short break.<br/><br/>My companion has walking difficulties and problems with his balance. If I’m honest had I known about the amount of stairs in the property and the vertigo inducing staircase from the kitchen to the bedroom I probably wouldn’t have booked the property for our holiday.

Great view from large window. Good location.<br/><br/>Nothing bad. Over fancy taps - difficult to get consistent hot water. Burning hot then cold.

It was straightforward to collect the keys we had the code in advance and entered it and got the keys and then straight into the property <br/>Once you go in you have a flight of narrow stairs, you open the door and then some narrow curved stairs leading you to the bedroom and bathroom and then further stairs to the living area. The view is fantastic and you can completely open the window and sit and lookout.<br/><br/>Please beware of the alleyway as you walk up as it has no curb appeal and is scruffy <br/>My partner is 6ft 2 and his knees are not great, so he struggled as many narrow steps up and down in the accommodation, having said that we would stay again if we could not find somewhere with fewer steps. <br/>Sofa a bit small.

Morden, clean apartment with fabulous views. loved the bi-fold window , views were amazing from here.<br/><br/>Entrance to property was very unkept with lots of rubbish on the floor . There was 4 green bins for garden and food waste but nowhere to recycle cardboard or plastic so people had just place their rubbish next to the green bins.

It is a lovely place so close the the sea front and only short walk to amenities

We enjoyed our two night stay- fab location. A bit disappointed to arrive to a full dirty dishwasher and dirty toilet. A pint of milk would have been appreciated after a long journey. That said the apartment was well equipped and delightful views.

What a great place to stay views from the windows amazing very clean and has everything you need

Great central location for visiting Whitby. Apartment as described / pictures with great view from top window.

a lovely little apartment in a central location, has a fabulous view of whitby from the bi-folding windows.<br/><br/>be mindful of the stairs as they are tight and steep and the bed is snug! <br/><br/>managed to get parked within 5 minute walk using the parking permits.<br/><br/>would recommend

Spotless, lovely, cosy modern apartment with original character features. Well appointed and with a well-equipped kitchen - perfect for self-catering. Cosy, spacious bedroom and spacious showroom. Great, central location with fabulous views over the town towards the Abbey and the sea. Easy access to the harbour area, with plentiful pubs and restaurants, the beaches and historic Whitby. Nearby loading bay proximity was useful. Overall a great stay!

Amazing place to visit, if you’re going to Whitby I’d suggest this place, 10/10

Excellent for a short break - great location and we loved the property itself. Clean, comfortable and a lovely view across to the Abbey. Also good to have permits for nearby parking which was all very straightforward. Recommend!

Such a great apartment - will be back!

We enjoyed a lovely break at Burns Yard! The apartment was spotless, well-furnished and extremely comfortable. The best thing about this place is the incredible view from the bi-fold windows, being able to see the sea and the abbey from the living area was amazing! The location is fantastic, with lots of shops nearby and a short wander down to the sea. We really enjoyed exploring Whitby and it was brilliant having such a central location that was still really quiet and peaceful. <br/>Host & Stay provided lots of useful information via the app which we downloaded which was great for check-in, and finding out more about recommended places nearby.<br/><br/>A few notes from our stay:<br/>- There's a wonderful, quirky cafe called Jet Black Jewel just round the corner, which did an amazing brunch/lunch! We went back here twice as the staff were incredibly friendly and the food was wonderful. It also has booklets telling interesting tales about the area on each table!<br/>- We had takeaway fish and chips one night from Trenchers which was SO good. Might be the best we've ever had! They also have a restaurant, though there are often queues outside so it's definitely popular.<br/>- The Whitby Deli is just across the road and they sold lots of lovely local goodies. Worth popping in to grab some snacks!<br/>- Parking was explained really clearly in the app showing a map of streets where we could park and it was useful having the parking pass provided. We arrived late evening and fortunately found a space about 5 minutes away.<br/>- The entrance to the property is down an alleyway which is unlit, so it was difficult to find the property when we first arrived at night. Having a light here would feel much safer but we recommend having a torch handy if you're arriving in the dark.<br/>Overall we had a great stay and would definitely recommend Burns Yard for a mini break :)

I loved our stay! Me, my partner and my two dogs had a lovely break and it definitely felt like a home away from home, will be returning in the future and would recommend to friends and family

great location, tasteful decor, fantastic view, nice and quiet<br/><br/>steep stairs which could benefit from extra banister near kitchen, difficult to unpack from car to apartment due to small space in entrance hall and stairs up to kitchen - not unusual in converted fisherman cottages though, so we understand this is unavoidable

Perfect location, beautifully designed.<br/><br/>The radiator in the bedroom didn’t work but there was a portable heater provided.

Nice well equipped apartment with great views over the harbour.

Had a great stay. Location was amazing, right in the centre of Whitby. Nice pub directly opposite but didn't hear any noise or disturbance. Lovely apartment although lots of stairs inside so not suitable for some people. Fabulous view from the upstairs window.

Thank you for a wonderful stay at burns yard… we will be back soon!

Lovely apartment, very close to all the amenities, would definitely stay again.

A beautiful apartment. Perfectly located. Highly recommend and would 100% return.

A great location in the centre of Whitby with parking very near to the apartment. Lovely and clean with all the facilities needed for a restful few days in a fabulous seaside location

Great location and great little flat. Will definitely be returning next time we are in Whitby!

We really enjoyed our stay here and the apartment was just perfect for our trip to Whitby! Will recommend this place to friends and family.

The apartment itself is very nice with all mod cons. Great that it is pet friendly. <br/> <br/>I liked the location. There was a micro brewery/pub opposite, also a deli and green grocers shops nearby. Whitby is a delightful place.<br/><br/>I found unloading/parking quite difficult. I guess this is the same for anyone in Whitby but it must be particularly challenging high season. <br/> <br/>Received far too many emails about this vacation from both Booking.com and the letting company. Overkill.

Really nice and cozy place to stay in the middle of Whitby. Beautiful views across rooftops and onto the Abbey

Lovely modern apartment with excellent view

Excellent just as advertised <br/>Great touches like tea coffee salt washing up liquid in there to get you started . <br/>The curved stairs could prove difficult for someone who is less agile or have mobility issues but the view over the town is tremendous once up there.

The property was very clean, very nicely decorated/fitted out, every thing was there that you needed, very relaxing kitchen/lounge, very quaint and a great view from the lounge<br/><br/>Im being very critical as on the whole the stay was great, but if i were to list a few minor downsides! very dark at night to get to the property through the alley way to the door, a small tv in the bedroom would be nice, and although the bed room was smallish (more than adequate) a slightly bigger bed would have been appreciated , but thats all

Location and superb accodamation.<br/><br/>No outside area .Stairs an issue if you have mobility problems tho we were aware of this before booking.Finding a parking space was not always easy. Also getting bags to apartment from car on arrival abit of a challenge.

The location was good with a superb view. The apartment was clean and well presented with good quality appliances, storage, and equipment. Particularly happy with the coffee machine and dishwasher. Good provision of washing up liquid, tablets, washing machine powder, etc. The television was a good size with good coverage of programmes. Free Wifi included and tablet to help find local things to do. Downstairs in the bathroom there was self-regulated hot water in the tap and the shower worked well. The apartment was very well situated within easy walking distance of pubs, shops, river, and coast.<br/><br/>The view was beautiful but the windows were a little dirty so I usually opened them to enjoy the view. The apartment was very well presented but was let down by a few small things such as poor quality and limited toilet paper, and toiletries were provided but there were only 2 small mini tubes of shower gel for 2 of us for 3 days. Scratch cards were provided for parking but available places to park nearby were very limited while we were there - we often parked in a street a little further away but where parking was free.

Nice apartment, lovely and clean with a nice comfy bed,the view was excellent.<br/><br/>The alley leading to the property was scruffy and nit good for first impressions, also the stairs inside the property were exceptionally steep.

The property is very modern and well decorated , the bi-fold window in the living area is a superb touch and gives a fantastic view of Whitby<br/><br/>The entrance doer is very fiddly but this is the nature of Whitby’s properties , age and design but only a very minor point

Lovely tastefully decorated compact apartment made extra special by the bifold window which gives spectacular views across the rooftops to the harbour and Abbey Would highly recommend <br>As with other review comments don’t be put off by the entrance area , the apartment itself is great but not suitable for people with mobility issues due to the steep stairs

Great location, excellent welcome instructions left by management, stylish and modern. Accepts dogs.<br/><br/>Entrance of property smelts of cigarettes, alley to property dirty and lots of rubbish. Parking is a nightmare but this is not a fault of the property, we were given a parking permit but there is no spaces for miles and no spaces in local car parks.

Nicely decorated apartment in lovely area close to shops, cafes and amenities.

The flat is perfectly placed between the river and Skinner Street, an easy walking distance from anything you might want to see in Whitby. It’s very comfortable - a nice place to hang out if the weather turns bad - and the view over the harbour and across to the cathedral is spectacular. We were there for the Regatta fireworks, which we watched through the open window, and it was like they were being put on especially for us.<br/><br/>There are three flights of steep stairs so, if mobility is an issue, that might not work for you. It was also quite pricey but we were there for Regatta weekend, which might have put the prices up. It was certainly busy in town the whole time we were there and I think most places were booked up.

Good place for a base. Very clean and stylish.

Everything! <br/>It was a beautiful space & made us feel right at home.<br/>Despite an unfortunate situation where the shower broke down, the team were so super quick & helpful (even on a Sunday when we thought we would be completely unseen to) and any issues where rectified so quickly, it really put us at ease to know we were properly looked after whilst staying here! 100% would recommend to everyone<br/><br/>Nothing

The photos don’t do it justice. View from the lounge over the ruins & harbour were exceptional. Bed very comfy and stylishly decorated. We would definitely return.<br/><br/>Stairs very steep so may not suit older guests.

Location was great and the apartment was perfect for what we wanted, beautifully decorated and presented. We would definitely stay there again.<br/><br/>The residents / neighbours were extremely rude and although the communication from the host was clear and helpful, there was probably a little too much.

Booked for my parents who had a lovely stay and were very impressed with layout, location and facilities.

Lovely little apartment, amazing location. Everything we needed for a short break. Would definitely stay again

Great, clean and modern apartment in a central but quiet location.

Good location, good views, very comfortable bed. Stairs a bit steep and no area to remove boots, clean dogs off as stairs are carpeted.

Lovely Decor, stunning views and ideal location. Would recommend. Thank you

A very clean and well presented apartment, in a super location. Beautiful views across Whitby from the main living area, and very quiet.

Great little apartment, would come again.

wendy B.

Perfect location and very clean and stylish apartment with a fantastic view of the harbour ..

Central location and great fixtures and fittings. Loud neighbour but he stopped playing music around 10pm so didn't affect us. Lovely place to visit and we could park for free easily 5 minute walk away without any problems. Stairs were very steep for our dog, but great little flat

Perfect location perfect view perfect for two

I’m afraid we won’t be returning to this apartment, in fact we checked out a day early. This is a classic case of an apartment being used for business as it’s not set up to live in at all. <br/><br/>Pros: <br/>- the location is fantastic <br/>- the views are gorgeous <br/>- the kitchen is well equipped<br/>- plenty of toiletries, toilet paper etc in bathroom<br/>- shower is powerful<br/>- the heating is really easy to use in every room<br/><br/>Cons:<br/>- the downstairs neighbour played loud music until at least midnight every evening and the smell of their marijuana wafted into our apartment <br/>- the main door to the building does not have a lock (seemingly at the request of the downstairs neighbour), yet we weren’t told this until check-in info was shared and we were still given a key for it<br/>- this wouldn’t have been so bad if the door to the actual apartment had anything more than one lock. The neighbour had people coming and going all night and we couldn’t sleep thinking our front door was being opened <br/>- the duvet for the bed is too small and the bed is hideously in comfortable <br/>- the bedside lights look great but are pointless as you have to switch both on, meaning if one of us wanted to stay up to read, we had to do so upstairs so as not to disturb the other person<br/>- the layout of the lounge/kitchen is bizarre. The tv faces the stairs so you can’t see it from the sofa without rearranging furniture <br/>- we had to create a log in for the WiFi instead of using a password<br/>- having a sky box and smart tv but having no way to watch sky or log in to our own Netflix account was very frustrating, especially as we obviously weren’t staying our late because of curfews (it’s also the same tv we have at home so we know it’s a good one and know how to use it)<br/><br/>It’s very very rare that I give bad reviews on Air BnB, I’m extremely diligent in reading reviews and scoping options so this really let us down. The management company asked me if anything was wrong when I told them we were leaving early and they replied 8hrs later saying they would inform the property owner, but that doesn’t exactly help our situation. We’ve been to Whitby many times before and this was a treat to ourselves as our wedding and honeymoon were cancelled this year, to check out a day early was really heartbreaking but we knew we’d be happier going home than staying.

Fantastic place to stay. We would absolutely stay again. We have a few comments to make this place that bit more special <br/>A light in the alley way would be safer and brighter. <br/>Two radiators were not working, we were offered to have these fixed whilst we were there, but we didn’t need to luckily the wreathed wasn’t cold. <br/>The taps are a bit tricky to get running hot. The key is to keep these on low pressure. <br/><br/>We loved this place, we would not recommend it for anyone with walking or breathing difficulties due to the amount of small steps up to the second and third floor of the appartment.

Lovely apartment with a great view over the harbour, very conveniently situated.

Excellent apartment for our stay in Whitby. Beautiful views from the upstairs window

Stay away it’s mine!

Perfect apartment, in walking distance to everything you need. Would definitely recommend.

Amazing view over Whitby! The apartment was incredibly clean and furnished lovely.. would love to stay here again in the future.

Very stylish accommodation , great location...

Fantastic central location. Amazing view of Abbey. All the facilities you need. Parking can be a bit difficult when it’s busy. And mind your head when you sit on the settee!

We had a lovely stay at this flat - the highlight was the beautiful view from the upstairs window of the pier, sea and Whitby Abbey. Beautifully designed, quiet, clean and modern. Thank you for a lovely stay!

Charlotte Nicole

Beautiful apartment right in the heart of Whitby. Stones throw from all the shops and harbour. Stunning views of the sea and the abbey, impeccably clean. Would highly recommend

Enjoyable stay, clear instructions from the host and spotlessly clean.

The apartment was incredible, so stylish and comfortable, great location and absolutely fantastic views over whitby. I'm a local girl and even I was amazed by the view! Stay were great at replying to messages and communication all the information needed throughout the stay, will recommend to people in the future!

Lovely place , so clean and the window views are fab. Good location.

It’s a lovely property, good location

Excellent property, in an excellent location! Was a pleasure dealing with Stay North Yorkshire, would highly recommend their properties.

A hidden gem. A modern cosy space with theee best view from the bifold window. Pull up the bar stools and watch the sunshine and night sky across the rooftops. <br/>All amenities and a great cooking space. <br/>Crisp fresh bedding and fluffy large bath sheets. <br/>A great base for our 12 mile walk from Staithes back to Whitby. <br/>X4 bus is half hourly up the coast. 5 minute walk from the flat.

Burn's Yard, what a stylish place to stay, perfect location and the bifold window is sheer brilliance which will definitely come into it's own in the warmer months.

Great little place in the centre of Whitby. Parking 5 mins walk away. <br/>Only thing maybe could say was the shower was not very powerful. Other than that. First class.

We absolutely loved our stay at Burns Yard Apartment. We would definitely stay there again next time we visit Whitby. The apartment was spotless when we arrived and is super stylish. The view is amazing and it's such a great location with everything on your doorstep but tucked away so it's nice and quiet. Communication with the hosts was super easy and there was lots of useful info provided before we arrived and in the apartment. A real treat weekend away, highly recommended.

A fantastic few days in Whitby. Emily and the team were very responsive answering questions leading up to the visit and giving recommendations on places to visit and things to do. The apartment was warm, spotlessly clean and very well equipped with a fantastic view across the harbour. Highly recommened.

Nice place in the heart of Whitby. View from living room is lovely. Very stylish living room and kitchen.

Nathan and Nicola Dawes

Great view of Whitby from the living room. The apartment is newly refurbished, very clean and modern. Nice touches on arrival plenty of tea and coffee and pint of milk. Would highly recommend.

Stylish apartment in a great location.
