Close to centre

Where do i start!? PLEASE DO NOT BOOK THIS PLACE IF YOU REQUIRE A PARKING SCRATCH CARD OR IF THERE ARE 4 PEOPLE- as we were lied to by staff at host & stay reassuring us a card would be left in cottage, no such card & apparently it didn’t exist , i was told a card would be left. I rang on arrival & no help so my 70 year old parents had to hunt fir a space, then get a taxi to cottage. Tge cottage was grubby full of hairs & mould dust. Does not fit 4 as only 2 seater sofa, and the 3 floors are just stairs from hell with carpets that still have pins poking out so mind your toes when walking up.
Total disgrace

Nothing

Didn't even get the code to get in till the next day had to stay somewhere else so only stayed 1night very unprofessional and misleading £280 for 1night stay disgusting the place was damp small and you couldn't even have a wash in the tiny sink very poor never again

Location was good. Also quieter than expected.

The bed was broken and I had to fix it. There is no way that 4 people can for in here as it only has a 2 seater chair. The 2 beds on the top level are squeezed in the tight you have to sleep the opposite way round to avoid banging your head on the roof beams. The room and kitchen are a lot smaller than they look in the pictures. The bathroom is very narrow and the radiator seemed to get extremely hot and was hard to control the temp. This would be very dangerous when young children use the bathroom. It was also hard to use the sink due to the glass shelf right above it.

The property was clean and tidy in a really good location for quick access to the amenities in Whitby. On arrival however there was no sign of parking tickets needed for the long weekend, this was corrected within 2 hrs of arrival following a phone call to Home & Stay, as we had to park a distance from the property. The property was considerably smaller than we were led to believe in the website. The stairs up to the twin bedroom were a challenge for the taller members of my family! All this aside we had a pleasant stay at Clinker Cottage

Great communication from the host and lots of helpful information about the house and things to do in the area.
Great location, very central and easy to get around Whitby.
Nicely furnished, comfortable beds and a well equipped kitchen.
Unfortunately the property has an overwhelming damp smell which spoiled our stay and the cleanliness of the property was not to a great standard. Although the bedding and towel’s were clean.

Porch light didn't work.
The cottage is rather on the small side in comparison to other houses in Whitby and would suit petite sized guests ideally with seating for only two people on the sofa and a third on a pouffe in the lounge, which also was lacking a dining table & chairs. Very small breakfast bar with two stools in the kitchen. No hand soap or body wash. Kitchen is small but workable with tea & coffee.Extra tea towels would be useful. Upstairs the first floor is a very small double bedroom with an equally small closet which contained two hair dryers, a clothes rail and several broken hangers. The walkways between the bed and the surrounding walls was less than 18ins wide. Making movement cumbersome especially at night. En suite is a shower room with hold & rainwater showers, toilet, and a tiny HAND basin. For face washing & teeth cleaning
This was extremely frustrating. Accessible through the main bedroom. Narrow steep stairs to attic. Descend backwards due to low beam

Pros
- The location is fantastic. A few minutes walk from most of the shops and restaurants near the water and an easy walk to Whitby Abbey. Plenty of shops and cafes literally yards from the front door.
- Very clean and tidy and the appliances are new.
- WiFi works great in case you have a lazy, rainy day in during your stay.
Cons
- The space is very tiny. It’s tight for a couple or small family, but likely too small for anything larger than that.
- Parking is misleading. Technically there is free parking available with the scratch offs provided by the host. But there is little chance of securing one of these spots as they are very limited and there are many visitors to the area. Ended up paying £8 per day to park in a lot down the street.

Very helpful Hosts , very clear information given , which if I had read correctly I would have noted the free parking available , but didn’t so ended up paying to park in the nearby car park -totally my fault.
Good location , tasteful decor , but definitely a venue for 2 people , bathroom and twin beds in attic room far too small for 4 adults to share.
Lovely blue sofa , but again could only accommodate 2 people .
Great location for exploring Whitby and the surrounding area . We didn’t use the car once , walked every where and caught the bus .
Lovely restaurants near by .

Lovely accommodation. The stairs up to the top floor were steep so not suitable for a family with young children as we were and the bathroom was a bit tight to manoeuvre around however no fault of the property, just not the most suited for us! Communication was excellent and location great.
For ease would recommend parking at the pay and display on silver street as no free spaces anywhere!

Location quite good

Lack of sitting facilities in living room. One two seater settee between four people hardly adequate. Due to this we did not spend any leisure time in the facility.
Description of facility did not fully explain the bedrom facilities. Stairs leading to bedrooms were dangerous for older people to access. Two guests were aged 75years and found the stairs hard to negotiate. This should be noted in the propoerty description.
Photographs, especially of the living room bore no relationship to the facilities provided.

it’s location and being dog friendly

it was damp. There were a few moisture traps in the kitchen and the cupboards. The coat hangers were broken except one.
