Host & Stay are committed to our owners that their homes are protected during guest bookings. For this reason, we require all our guests to transfer a Damage Deposit (refundable, subject to an administration charge) or, to purchase an Accidental Damage Waiver which will cover you for up to £500.00 of accidental damage during your stay.

Neighborhood
Duck Down Cottage is located within Whitby town centre and very close to the harbour. There is a fantastic selection of bars, restaurants and shop's only a short walk away. Whitby itself is situated on the North Yorkshire Heritage Coast and is the perfect place to discover quaint fishing villages such as Staithes and Robin Hood's Bay clinging to the steep cliffs to the north and south. Now popular with visitors all year round, Whitby is well-known for its sandy beach and fantastic seafood, all of which can be enjoyed no matter what the weather! Whether you're visiting for a romantic retreat, seaside fun, walks along the coast, or dining in quality restaurants, you’ll find that Whitby has it all. As you make your way inland either on foot or by car, you'll be greeted by the breathtaking moorland vistas surrounding upland villages such as Goathland, Danby and Castleton.

Getting Around
Duck Down Cottage is located in the centre of Whitby so the town can easily be explored on foot. Whitby train station is just a short 10-minute walk away so villages and towns along the North Yorkshire coast can easily be reached via rail. There’s also a taxi rank in close proximity to the train station. There are plenty of bus routes throughout Whitby. Hop on the X4 and you can visit beautiful coastal villages like Sandsend, Runswick Bay and Staithes. The X93 travels along the coast to Scarborough. The 95 route features plenty of quaint villages, such as Grosmont and Lealholm.
