The size of the property and the layout. If felt like a home from home. The beds were the right configuration for our needs.

There was no freezer and only one set of keys.

It was clean, mostly spacious, well located, the beds were comfortable and it is somewhere we would consider returning to in the future.

It was lacking on a number of small things that could easily be remedied to bring it up to exceptional. There was a musty smell in the living room in the morning, bins were broken or old, no tea towels, no ice compartment or freezer, no drawer for cutlery, windows were hard to open and the TV was hard to work out. Nothing major but it just made you feel some of the small details could be improved. Also only 1 parking pass for a 4 bed house?

It is a really lovely house. The bathroom is amazing. The attic bedroom was particularly nice. It was spacious and comfortable and convenient for all the attractions. The only negatives were 1) the WiFi didn't work at all during our stay 2) we had 2 cars so had to park one further away and walk back and forth as there was only one parking voucher. Not a long walk so manageable but it would have made life easier to park nearby. The instructions had made it very clear so this was not a surprise. We did contact someone about the WiFi and they were very quick to respond but were not able to resolve the issue during our weekend stay. Mainly a problem for the young in our party to be fair.

House was a good size, clean and tidy. Good location, quiet, walkable to explore the sights of Whitby.
The only negative was regarding the car parking permit. You only get one and there was three vehicles in our party. This meant two vehicles had to park away from the property. Not a major issue, however, this was not made clear when booking.
I would recommend staying at this accommodation and would book again.

The house is lovely, the pictures are accurate. Kitchen had plenty of plates, cups etc. No freezer though. Beds were comfy and rooms very spacious. We didn't use the outside space due to the weather being a typically grey and damp British holiday but it would be a nice place to sit outside in nice weather
The house is at the end of a street and although the advert says " free parking on the premise" there was only on street parking available, the street was also busy and parking quite tight as cars were on both sides of the road. I was only left a 2 day parking permit for my 4 day stay and the host initially said it was fine for my whole stay, before admitting it was only valid for 2 days and suggested I get a pay and display spot, providing enough permits for the whole stay should be the minimum.

Our stay at Hutton House was great. We had a couple of niggles, but nothing major, and these were addressed immediately.
The beds were comfy, the facilities were great and the place was very clean and had everything we needed.
I think the only issue I had was being too warm! And our neighbours were a bit noisy, but that's not the properties fault.
Parking can be a nightmare, as you'd expect. Also it turned out that the people staying next door had 3 cars with them and had taken up all available space directly outside. So if you want to park near the property, get there ASAP.
Parking permits were provided.
The kitchen is quite small for 7 people staying there, but if you're not cooking it's not really a big deal.
The host was very responsive.
We had a wonderful stay and we will hopefully return very soon.

Stayed in Whitby. Nice property great location although they’d forgotten to leave us a parking scratch card. They did manage to get it to us the next day. Single bed uncomfortable, heating no good and we were cold, needing redecorating in places (shabby around fireplace). No door in attic bedroom so noise from hall and downstairs room noticeable. Main problem was that Host & Stay (property management company) forced us to pay extra non-refundable charges for damage insurance or /non-refundable admin fee - neither made clear when we booked via booking.com site. Only demanded the extra fees 1 week prior. Host & Stay Customer services totally useless. It seems this is a regular trick this company pulls - look at their one, two and three star reviews on Trustpilot! Booking.com customer services were superb and got us a refund. Beware!

Wow! This place is stunning! The photos don’t do it justice. It’s large, spacious and light with beautiful furniture and shutters. A peaceful location with just a short walk into Whitby.
We will definitely be back!

Brilliant stay at Hutton House, it looks better than it does on the pictures and the bed on the top floor us SO. COMFORTABLE. I wanted to take it home with me! The only flaw was the sight of the dust under the beds and the cupboards but that would very easily be fixed with a bit more attention paid to the cleaning, and there was a horrible drainage smell in the upstairs en-suite, but that's a small price to pay for an amazing stay in a beautiful terraced house so close to some gorgeous bars/restaurants/shops AND the beach! Would absolutely book this place again for a family stay.

Very clean, with nice modern facilities. Lots of space to accommodate larger families.

No parking space outside the property. Carparks nearby were very busy due to holidays.

Nice location but the place was severely let down by cleanliness (dog hair and dust everywhere, used socks on the floor, blocked foul drain backing up in the back yard making everything smell - which took 4 days to sort out). Drain issues had obviously happened before as there was damp creeping up the walls and squeaky floors in the kitchen. Weirdly, door knobs were difficult too - set too close to the door frames meaning they were hard to open - they need to be handles. Finally, there is no door allowing the upstairs master room to have any privacy - wasn't an issue for us but might be for noisy guests.

The house is as advertised, with lots of space, great location, and nicely renovated. However, there was an awful, foul smell coming in from the backyard that made it impossible to use the outside courtyard, and which made it very unpleasant to spend much time in the kitchen or dining area. Not sure if there was a leak from their soil pipe in the back or if it was due to all the black water sitting underneath all the wood decking, but whatever it was, we couldn't open any of the windows or doors to the back - and yet we still noticed the smell. Quite disappointed with our stay because of this.

Property is exactly as advertised and in a fantastic location. Very short walk into the centre for food and drinks.

The place was lovely, as per the photos, plus extras. Kitchen small for size of place but has most accessories. House was big and spacious. Nice beds, linen and towels.
Very convenient to town. Easy walking distance to the centre.
Parking should be mentioned as you are not guaranteed a street spot. Also make sure you have enough parking permits for your duration when you arrive. They are supplied and free.

Spacious. Location.

Parking. Excessive number of emails giving same information. Very squeaky wardrobe doors in first floor double bedroom.

Had a great stay at Hutton house, easy to find with good on street parking, walkable into Whitby, with local pub a few minutes from the house, property was spacious & bed’s comfortable.
Worth getting the steam train for a great day out!

Jaqui

06/06/2023

It was as described, clean and airy.

beds were really not comfortable.
I know it's not obligatory but a welcome tea bag would have been nice.... but no tea, no coffee, nothing whatsoever to welcome us except an endless barrage of emails/messages from the letting company that didn't let up the whole time we were there. Totally unnecessary and really irritating. They need to learn when to back off and let people relax!

The property itself is nice and it's in a great location. We did have some issues, mainly with cleanliness but Host & Stay dealt with these accordingly. Just a few points for future guests to hopefully improve their stay. There is NO FREEZER and only a small fridge. Cover the outdoor furniture when not in use otherwise it'll get covered in bird droppings. Take a tea towel as only one was provided. Dishwasher tablets were provided but take your own washing up liquid/sponges etc as we had to go out and buy some. We couldn't find any oven instructions at the property so be prepared to find these online before you start cooking as it's not a particularly easy oven to use. And most importantly – take a corkscrew as there wasn't one!

Sarah

21/05/2023

Lovely house, lack of corkscrew didn’t spoil our stay! We couldn’t find it initially because the street is a T shape and the house is not where you’d expect, but we called and they were very helpful, as was a lovely neighbour who saw us trying to find the property!
Yard is a sun trap and the helpful addition of the overhead canopy was fantastic- great also for shadow puppetry!! Very comfortable outdoor seating, very private yard.
This is such a good location for exploring Whitby, quiet and tucked away but only minutes walk from the shops, cafes and bars. Clean and tidy, comfy beds and sofas, we had an amazing weekend- thank you

Really good location on the West Cliff side of Whitby. Very close to shops, bars and restaurants and just a few minutes walk down to the waterfront but in a quiet location. Nicely presented comfortable home. Instructions were very clear and easy. We had no problem parking right outside. Fair value for money for Whitby during school half-term in our case. In our case ideal size for two parents and four kids (one infant) and one grandparent. We did have to bring our own travel cot and high chair but no major drama there. Very happily stay here again and Whitby itself is really lovely for a few days.

Great place to stay, very good central location. All essential you require in the house, lovely clean bedding, extremely warm house. Very light and spacious. Very dog friendly. A couple of issues but host & stay responded quickly. Whitby is a great place to stay.

Great location. Comfortable house. Parking was tricky but managed to find a spot close by.
Floors were very dusty and needed a good clean throughout. Everything else was clean.
Emails before and during our stay were numerous and a bit much. We received about 20 emails in all, some of which contained links that didn't work. Too many reminders to leave at check out time- I don't want them the day before.
Overall worth the money, some issues but nothing major.

The house was big and there where plenty of room for the 6 of us. The bedrooms were fine, and there were toys if you had children. It would have been nice with soap in both bathrooms, and enough toiletpaper. It is nice if those things are OK when you arrive. We would like a proper cloth in the kitchen to wipe the table. We could not use the iron. It is sticky and dirty
