Sleeping up to four guests, Richemont Cottage is a homely property with plenty of charm. On the ground floor, you’ll find a snug living room and a traditional kitchen diner. With comfy grey sofas and a flat screen TV, the living room is the ideal spot to relax with your loved ones. The shaker style kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering stays so you’ll have everything you could need to prepare meals.

Head up the stairs and you’ll find two bedrooms and the family bathroom. The master bedroom features a double bed with crisp bed linens and a neutral colour scheme. The second has single bunk beds making it perfect for children and teenagers.

Modern in style, the family bathroom has a bath with overhead shower, WC and basin.

Neighborhood

At the other end of Pier Road, you’ll notice the swing bridge which sits over the River Esk.

Over the bridge, you’ll find yourself on the East bank which is full of narrow medieval streets dotted with boutiques, pubs and fish restaurants. Climb the famous 199 steps up to the Church of Saint Mary. You can also discover the renowned ruined Whitby Abbey, which was the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s gothic novel ‘Dracula’.

Step outside of Whitby and you’ll uncover a haven of woodland and moorland. Whitby forms part of the North York Moors National Park so it’s the perfect place for long walks.

A lovely stay in a clean and well presented setting that had everything we needed. I struggled a little with the mattress, this could do with an update, and a black out blind in the bedroom would be much appreciated as there is an orange street light that illuminates the room. Other than that, a great place.

Richemont cottage was an excellent base for our stay in Whitby as a family of three, with a small child. The location is great, perfect for exploring the town and being able to walk to local amenities as well as attractions. Parking was also fine, there’s a small car park on cliff street which can be used for unpacking and packing, and then the parking permit was very handy for the rest of the week in the other car park. <br/>The cottage itself was clean and tidy, and we found it comfortable.

The house was fine, clean and tidy and very good for local access. However there was a noticeable smell of dog in the house that put us off a bit. There had been a new carpet downstairs to try and combat this but the couches still smelled strongly.<br/>The parking (although great to have) was a good 10 minute walk from the house which isn’t ideal with suitcases etc.

A lovely place to stay, that fit 4 adults fairly easily. Host & Stay were fab at resolving a small issue that came up during our stay within the day. It could have been slightly cleaner on arrival but not anything to put you off from booking

Great central location only 2 minutes walk from the harbour and walkable to all of the attractions in Whitby. <br/>Clean and tidy accommodation. The accommodation is tucked away so nice and quiet despite its central location. Found it a little challenging to find in the first place with it being tucked away and you have to walk about 20 metres to get to the accommodation from the nearest road. There is no street parking close by however a parking permit is provided for a public car park in Whitby.

We loved how central the location was and the garden was amazing for us having a dog. <br/>Having a bath was great. <br/>Kitchen is well equipped and beds were very comfy. <br/>Tea, coffee & Milk supplied for arrival.<br/><br/>On arrival (and even as dog people) the smell of dog was really unbearable - we went out and got febreeze and plug ins but I really think the carpet in the front room is a bad idea and pretty sure this was source of the smell. <br/>Cobwebs round the windows - does need a good deep clean in my opinion.

lovely little cottage by the bay. We would walk to the peir of an evening to watch the dolphins and it was only 5 minutes away. You'll be staying in the heart of the bay town so there's lots to do and see no matter what you're after. There's a bit of a loud pub at the end of the alley but it's far enough away from the house that you don't really hear it amd its dead quiet after nightfall.<br/>There's a parking pass in the house, which is amazing, all roadside parking requires this and there's a road just after the top of the alley you can park on.

A lovely place to stay in the heart of Whitby. Parking was fine but about 10 minutes from the Airbnb. Dropped off bags initially and then went to park. Besides that a really easy place to stay and explore the area

The house is ideal for a young/small family looking to explore Whitby. It has all the basics plus a few nice touches, and is comfortable and pleasant. The location is absolutely unbelievable if you only want to be in the Whitby area, not sure how that works for people looking to explore Yorkshire as we didn’t look to do that ourselves.<br/><br/>No criticisms.

Excellent cottage to stay in whilst in Whitby, a stones throw away from everything. The cottage itself is in really good condition, and lovely quiet side-street location. Parking permit provided which is a bonus as well

We’ve stayed here twice now and both times have been lovely. The digital information pack provided has all the information you need. I recommend unloading your car at the bottom of the stairs, there’s a loading bay in front of a row of shops- one is Whitby Wildlife Sanctuary Charity Shop (in case you need to put it into sat nav) <br/>The door sometimes needs a little jimmy to get it to open, a few times we had the absolute fear that we were locked out. The back garden is rare for a cottage so close to the main front and it is perfectly enclosed for any pooches or for sitting outside. The living space room hasn’t got the most comfortable of sofas and you feel as though anyone walking past the property is in the cottage with you thanks to the single glazed windows- but that’s an excuse for you to get out and see more of Whitby, sit outside, or relax in the comfy bedrooms. The kitchen is well equipped, two dishwasher tablets provided. Highly recommend the property

The location was really good. Within walking distance of amenities, the cottage was comfortable and really well fitted out.<br/><br/>It was a bit steep to get to. Also, there is no private parking. Not being able to get in while 4 and be out by 10

The shower. Well presented comfortable bed<br/><br/>No wardrobe nor drawers in the second bedroom, unsuitable for 3 adults <br/>Having to pay £250 on top of the cost as a bond Only getting the money returned after we leave to return to Australia and charging £10 fee for the privilege. <br/>20 emails from Host and stay for the £250 bond could be considered as harassment <br/>I would never stay at another Host and Stay property. I thought I was booking on Booking.com

Everything was available upon arrival with the exception of the parking permit. A replacement arrived promptly. Whitby is one of our favourite coastal towns however it has very steep access to all areas. Access to cottage is via a steep restricted incline. There is a nearby lane that a car can travel but not park. The cottage location is therefore not suitable to anyone with walking disabilities or restricted to a wheelchair. The cottage is small but no problem for two adults and two children. Small garden to the rear. All you need for cooking should you wish to however the microwave did not function. The walk to the allocated car park is a steep climb so you do need to be fit. None of this is a complaint in any way. It`s just something that needs pointing out to potential customers. Whitby has a very well established holiday infrastructure. Beach is only 10 minutes walk from cottage. Town centre is the same. Railway station 15 mins walk. From point of booking to date of travel we were kept informed by client management. Texts to check all was well during stay also. All in all a very good experience<br/><br/>No parking permit when we arrived. Microwave did not function.

Very happy with our stay. Lovely, quaint cottage. It is really small but that's the nature of where it is. We managed with 2 adults 2 kids and a border collie. Location is perfect. Really clean and well presented. Not much wardrobe space. Lots of extras such as iron, towels, hairdryer, maiden etc

Great location, cute cottage and considering that it is dog friendly the place was clean and without any dog smells. All the main attractions were within a short walk from the cottage.<br/><br/>Missing car parking badge upon arrival. Parking was refunded, but it took a little while until we finally got a hold of the person we spoke to at the time. Everyone else we spoke to from the team were unaware of the incident and were questioning the refund.

the cottage was nicely decorated & furnished<br/><br/>the dishwasher was left full of dirty pots & cutlery, no wash tablets for dishwasher, so had to take out cups and wash them <br/>so we could make drink not acceptable, fridge not been cleaned crumbs on shelves, toilet seat broken,no parking permit <br/>left for us , mattress in main bedroom very uncomfortable, garden needed attention grass mot been cut for weeks, table <br/>and chairs very dirty. back door to cottage had been left unlocked, we think that it should made clear that access is up a <br/>steep slope and steps not ideal for less mobile people.

This house is in a fantastic location for exploring Whitby and we enjoyed the walk to the car park when we needed to use the car. However we were 2 adults with a 12 & 14 year old, if we had brought our dog, which we had planned on doing, the house would have been too small for all of us, its really perfect for a two adults and one dog. Facilities were good and lovely shower and well equipped kitchen.

Really decent accommodation. Good location and excellent communication. The only thing was the fact that we were asked to clean even though not only did we pay a cleaning fee but also check-out at 10:00 am so the cleaning team could arrive. So was a bit surprised that I was asked to clean. I was not planning to leave the place in a disaster, but still... to be asked to clean. Also the parking si a bit far if you wanna carry luggage's. The downstairs rom was a a bit smaller than I expected. But the garden was excellent for our dog, and the place was warm and tidy.

The place was in an amazing location and spotlessly clean. It has a great living space and the kitchen is lovely. It leads out onto a private garden which would be perfect for the summer. The whole place was lovely and will now be our 'go to' accommodation for Whitby family holidays in the future.<br/><br/>The place was perfect! If you're coming with a pram you'll need to carry it up a few steps, but Whitby is like that anyway so it wasn't a problem at all.

We had a lovely stay herei it is centrally located and everything is within walking distance but a word of caution like other guests have mentioned access is via a steep passageway with stairs and the car park is a good 10 minute walk away . You can’t get the car permit until you can access the property which is 3pm so we paid £5 to park until we could move the car so a bit of planning needed .<br/>The second bedroom is small <br/>The cottage is spotlessly clean

Eleanor

Excellent in all respects. Spotlessly clean, tastefully decorated and furnished plus an excellent location in the centre of Whitby. The sunny garden was a real bonus!

As the description says, small and cosy, good for a family but would have felt a bit of squeeze for 4 adults. (There was just the two of us. The cottage is very clean and comfortable, and I appreciated that there was plenty of crockery and cutlery, not one of places that just gives you 4 of everything. Good wifi signal.<br/>The location is great, right in the centre near the seafront and about 200m from the Magpie Cafe. It was very quiet despite being right in the centre, but it’s not clear from the details that it’s up (and down) several flights of stone steps with cobbles in between. There’s a loading area just after the entrance to alley so it wasn’t too difficult unloading our stuff. I’d book it again for just the two of us.

Kate

19/04/2021

Really clean and comfortable cottage right in the heart of Whitby just a few min walk to everything. It has a small garden that catches the sun for most of day so you can enjoy breakfast outside with a view of the Abbey (just :)). The only downside is that access is via a narrow path with steep stairs but it wasn't a major problem for us. We'd happily stay again.
