The flat is dog friendly and in an excellent location. It's right in the heart of town, very close to the beach, West Cliff, Whitby Abbey, and everywhere you might want to visit. It's directly next door to an excellent pub, with a great selection of beers, including gluten free and vegan options, but we were never bothered by any noise.
Just up the road is The Cranberry Swamp where you can get an excellent breakfast and the whole menu can be made gluten free (I'm coeliac so this was much appreciated). If you head down the road there's another brilliant pub, The Esk Vaults, and also The Greedy Pig where my husband enjoyed a very tasty and reasonably priced pork roll with stuffing and apple sauce.
If you want fish and chips you're spoilt for options in Whitby but the property is close to Trenchers and although you'll probably have to queue my husband assures me it's worth the wait.
The flat is in a Disc Zone so parking is only allowed for an hour outside between 9am and 7pm but there are plenty of nearby on street parking options for free, and an hour is enough for loading and unloading the car. November to March there are hundreds of free parking spots on the West Cliff too.

The property isn't terribly well equipped. There's only one small saucepan and a large frying pan. No whisk. Some of the crockery was chipped. They only supply one towel per person so extras are definitely needed. There was damage to the walls, although this is aesthetic only. The property was filthy and hadn't been cleaned. I'm not being overly picky or critical here - the property was genuinely disgustingly dirty and I have 30+ pictures documenting this. The skirting boards were dusty, door frames dirty, it hadn't been hoovered and there was a thick build up of dog hair along the edge of the carpets. There were cobwebs throughout, the crockery was stained and some had dried food on it from previous guests. There was what appeared to be dried blood on the wall, and stains on the carpet. Then we get to the bathroom - dusty, limescale on the taps and in the toilet, a cup/toothbrush holder that was not only chipped but also full of brown water, and toothpaste stains down the sides of the wash basin cabinet. Then the pièce de résistance was the shower, which was absolutely thick with black mould. The tiles, grout, and shower heads were covered in it. This clearly hadn't been cleaned or addressed for some time. There is inadequate ventilation in the bathroom which is obviously the cause, but if the place was cleaned regularly it would never have gotten into this state. Half the shower nozzles didn't work due to being blocked with either mould or limescale. Fortunately for the next guests we bought mould remover and other cleaning supplies and tackled this ourselves. It was relatively mould free when we left.
We agreed to vacate the property the first day of our stay so they could re-clean, but nothing was touched. They promised us a £50 refund of the cleaning fee but failed to refund and stopped answering emails. Have had to open a dispute with my bank so have lowered their score. Avoid.

The location, cleanliness, overall facilities (the apartment lacked for nothing) and the size of the apartment were all excellent. A cool little hideaway in the middle of the town.

Bedroom needs blackout curtains to mask lights from the street. A parking pass would be helpful.

Location is great .
The whole booking and arrival experience was great the flat is amazing. Ive stayed in over 10 different lets in Whitby and this is up there with the best

It would be easier for guests to get the keys nearer the door rather than on the wall outside the alleyway .

The location was good , right near the center , shopping and pubs were very good and convenient, parking was OK but was not with the flat and had to pay £6.70 per day so over £40 for the 6 days but it was only a short walk away , a consideration for future bookings . The apartment was well appointed, clean and modern and had all the basics covered

The number on the entrance door was 12A which caused some confusion we were looking for a 12 and we found the combination on the key safe difficult to use , I tried to ring the helpline provided at least 3 times in office hours but there was no answer and no ring back we gave up with that and managed to get the key safe open eventually. The dishwasher was out of action for the duration of the stay

Location was excellent liked the 2 levels and the shower was good quality bed was also comfy

The door to the close area was broken and didn’t lock not good for security dishwasher wasn’t working and had stagnant water lying in it which gave a horrible smell all through the kitchen units

Fresh and stylish apartment with hood quality furnishing. Convenient to all amenities.

Bedding was undersized and the amount of towels were inadequate. Only 1 hand towel and to bath towels. Could do with some coat hooks.

The Outside entrance door to the alleyway to gain access the the apartment door, was not secure the lock was broken. It looked like someone had forced the door. And also there was not enough clean towels supplied.

The staff that. Run the apartment, were as helpfully as a chocolate fire guard. Upon arrival. I'd still not been sent my check-in instructions after numerous calls. I finally got through to a very unhelpful person to find out I had to pay either a £150 damages fee, which would take a min of 14 days to be refunded or a £20 damages fee which is non refundable.

I find this an utter rip-off that you have to pay this before you can actually have the key code after already paying the fee to book. In doing all this, it lost me a lot of time, but we had no choice & that was that I thought

We received the check-in instructions & tried to open the key safe. At the time, it was raining & we couldn't open it for 40 minutes. we tried for & numerous calls again, trying to get through to someone for help, to finally be told they had sent the wrong check-in instructions again, losing further time, we finally opened the correct key safe and entered the property to find the bed not made

Ripped bottom sheet hanging off & a quilt that I'd not put a dog in so again after around another 8 calls (and me by this time getting very frustrated) they told us they would send house keeping around to rectify the issue but for them to come we would have to leave & place the keys back in the key safe which I wasn't prepared to do & why should I when I've paid twice to be there so we decided to wait for House keeping & again in doing so lost even more time of a 1 night stay

All in all, 3 & a half hours lost of a 1 night stay, we asked for a late check out, but where told that housekeeping are there at 10 am to clean & then ignored

The road is so busy on a morning & the windows let so much noise through its impossible to sleep & we were up from 6 30 am

I left there feeling much worse than when I arrived

Would I stay again? Certainly, not as I dnt feel they care about their clients, just the extra cash they can get out of you.

Great apartment and location would recommended for short break. Only downside is the street light is attached to the building above the windows. The venetian blinds on bedroom windows do not block light and bedroom very bright all night. Have seen this on other reviews. Would be very easily remedied with addition of suitable curtains.

The apartment itself was lovely, the location was good.

The facilities are not so good. There was no mattress protector on the bed, just the sheet next to the mattress, which is not great when you think of the number of people that have slept on it, plus not great from a hygiene point. I emailed Host & Stay and asked if they could provide one. They replied, stating they would contact their housekeeping and get back to me. They never did, so I went and bought one which I should not have had to. There were only 2 drinking mugs, so again, I bought some and 3 desert spoons. No hand towels, again I contacted Host & Stay and again not acted on, well there was one in the bathroom which looked dirty so we did not use it. I think the company needs to look at their housekeeping.

When we arrived at the property the key was not in the safe. I had to call the number provided someone told me the housekeeper must have taken the key the would ring back! Nobody rang back I had to call them back for them to say they had double booked the apartment! I had to ring round to find a hotel ! Ver disappointed

Terrible to be left with nowhere to stay and unhelpful staff on the phone

What a lovely little treasure this place is. We stayed at sea salt apt and absolutely loved it, super clean, attention to detail, good fixtures and fittings, nice clean furnishing / bed linen. Stunning little apt. Great location and would absolutely stay in this place again. 9/10
The only reason it looses a point would be because there’s no blackout curtains in the bedroom. The blinds are beautiful but don’t block out the daylight in the morning and street lights during the night. (I ended up hanging a blanket on them) Also this isn’t a necessity but given how beautiful the apartment is I think a tv in the bedroom would just enhance the overall stay. If you wanted a lazy morning or to have a lazy night the this would definitely be beneficial.
All in all stunning place in a great location. Highly recommend this little gem.

DO NOT BOOK!
We booked this apartment for 3 nights, paid in full and received regular notifications and updates from Air bnb on the weeks and days commencing our stay.
We messaged the host twice the week running up to our stay to enquire about parking and checking in instructions and got no reply.
We travelled to Whitby (a 3 hour journey for us) with our dog with the intentions of receiving check in instructions from 4pm as advised. That time came and went with no communication from the host. We tried to contact the host however no luck, therefore we contacted Air bnb direct who were wonderful and tried to make contact with the host on our behalf. Air bnb were successful and gained contact with the host however the host stopped engaging with them shortly after.
We were left with the option of a full refund (which 24 hours later we had received) however that left us with no accommodation!
We tried to find alternative accommodation for the night however everywhere was full. We trave

The apartment was lovely and spacious, modern and clean couldn't fault it. Was on doorstep to cafes, pubs, restaurants and shops. I would definitely stay here again ???

Just a few snags like no hooks on the doors or hallway to hang, jackets towels in the bathroom. Maybe a bigger clothes rack with height. And a few more mugs. Just little bits which would help for further guests. Nothing major other than that very nice regards Sharron berry

Sea Salt apartment was lovely, clean and in a great place for access to Whitby. Clear easy to follow instructions from Host and Stay made it really easy to find the apartment, get inside and start enjoying break. If you don’t do steps or stairs maybe not the place to stay as access is via what looks like a fire escape but it does give you the best views of Whitby train station!!
Would happily stay again.

We visited Whitby for the first time as a new family. We brought everything but the kitchen sink for our 4 month old daughter.
The location was perfect, very central and short walk to local attractions.
Parking is close by.
Wish I’d of researched the entrance to the apartment first as it’s up a metal staircase, and carrying loads of stuff up was a pain but wasn’t unmanageable.
Apartment itself was great, everything you need is within and was pristine. Only criticism is no tv in the bedroom?
Only small really but that would have been a little better with early bedtimes to stick to.
We have stayed in loads of apartments over the years and this is one of the best, just wish there was some flexibility on check in times as we arrived slightly early and the key was inside the lock box. We asked for earlier check in and was told strictly 4pm onwards.
Either way, we had a great time. The company is on our radar now and we’ll be using again.
Thanks for your hospitality..

Stunning accommodation in a fabulous location. Just for constructive feedback, as others have said the lights outside bedroom were disturbing and curtains would help. The metal stairs were not dog friendly and our particularly confident dog was scared to use them, so some covering would be good. We had to dodge bird poop so that it wasn’t brought in on shoes. However, overall the place was amazing and we would stay again and recommend! Advice to others…you can stop outside for an hour to drop off/pick up luggage but then head to marina parking (£11 a day). Recommend the Granby for food and live music and the micro bar below the apartment. Hope to be back in the summer!

Fantastic location, lovely space and great to be set on two floors. Clean and tidy and modern. Excellent communication.
Only 'downside' is that there are no curtains in bedroom so very light but this is just a personal preference for a darker bedroom and won't impact everyone.

28/03/2024

Fabulous location, lovely views and great decor, also dog friendly!

There are no curtains in the bedroom, just Venetian blinds which do not block out the light. Directly outside the bedroom on the street are hung festoons which lit up the room throughout the night. Sadly we had a very bad nights sleep because of it. I’d recommend bringing eye masks for future stays and ear plugs as the street is a little noisy. We were gutted as the room was lovely and the bed very comfortable.

Outside there is a private deck but this wasn’t useable for us as it was covered in bird poo.

I think overall we’d love to come back but a few tweaks need to be made for guests comfort.
Deck mustn’t have been cleaned for a long time- perhaps add this to the cleaning rota when changing rooms ready for guests.
Curtains needed on the rooms front door as I felt rather exposed in my towel walking past it.
Curtains needed in the bedroom as mentioned above.
A hook on the bathroom door would be great for hanging used clothes when showering. I didn’t want to get clothes wet on the floor.

16/03/2024

The place was very modern and lovely and in a great location. The downside for us were:
The blinds in the bedroom do not block all the light out from the street lights, so didn’t make for a good nights sleep.
As the place is dog friendly there was a lot of dog hair in the carpet, which I messaged the host and said he would mention to the cleaner.
When you arrive the second front door in the alley way needs a sign with the apartment name on it. As you enter you think you have gone the wrong way.
The £250 deposit for breakages for us as a one night stay is very over the top more than the price of one night, and a week later I haven’t had it back yet.

Lovely accommodation, very clean and in a great spot lots of nice restaurants and cafes near by, 2 min walk from the main drag, absolutely lovely would stay again.
Only issue is light coming into the bedroom around the blinds but there are streetlights on the road so can’t really be avoided too much- maybe bring an eye mask if you’re a light sleeper

Beautiful apartment - spotless. great location.
Had a big issue with metal stairs that lead up to the apartment - they have small holes in the metal work which is normal but our dog must have caught his toenail in one whilst climbing down and it tore his nail ! We had a bleeding toe that was really worrying regarding the cream carpets in the apartment. All was fine in the end using a bandage and sock although doggy didn't want to walk which then spoilt the holiday tbh but not really anyones fault. I would recommend dogs to be carried up and down the stairs.
Also we couldn't check in at 4 as we were waiting for the door code! We had contacted twice an hour or so then half an hour before checkin and were promised the code swiftly but it never came. After waiting outside the apartment for 15 minutes we rang a central number and got a code. It made the hour before checkin stressful up until actually getting inside. Unfortunate and unnecessary as far as I can see.

Fantastic stay, beautifully furnished apartment with local amenities on your doorstep. 4 minute walk to the heart of the harbour. Excellent location. The only thing I can fault is the music from the micropub next door on the friday night. In fairness the music stopped between 11-12pm.
Highly recommend this apartment. Mainly for couples. We took our 15 month old daughter and it wasn’t that child proof but that is no fault of the apartment and hosts.
The hosts were very responsive if we needed some advice.

Great location near to everything. Everything brand new. Beds really comfy and lovely bedding. Well equipped. Very modern. Would definitely stay here again, can't wait to come back.

Just a couple of minor things. Although the settee was beautiful and modern it wasn't very comfy to snuggle on after a lovely walk round Whitby. Also a bigger door mat needed as we didn't have good weather and trying to manage getting our shoes off with a wet dog without standing on the new cream carpets was a bit difficult.
