Brand New for 2020

This stylish property has been fully refurbished to the highest standard.

The Space
Upon entering Staffordshire Hideaway, you’ll be welcomed into a bright and airy open plan kitchen, living and dining space. White walls, light wood flooring and spotlights create a clean and modern look. Staffordshire Hideaway does however keep its character with original wooden beams in the ceiling and a quirky room layout.

The perfect place to retreat after a full day of exploring Whitby, the living area provides a relaxing escape. Take a seat on the modern grey sofa and turn on the flat screen TV to keep up with your favourite shows on Freeview. Perfectly styled, the living area has neutral coloured cushions, a wooden coffee table and a metal side table with a faux plant.

Also sharing this open plan space is the kitchen and dining area. Ultra stylish in design, the kitchen has light grey, high shine cabinets and white worktops. You’ll have everything you could need for your stay as the kitchen is fully equipped with an oven, hob, microwave, fridge, toaster, kettle, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer. There is also the added luxury of a coffee machine so you can enjoy a delicious coffee each morning.

The dining area includes a white dining table and light wood dining chairs with woven detailing. A round, Jute rug and a metal floor lamp ties the look together and creates a cosy feel.

Head to the bedroom and you’ll find a luxury space with plenty of style. You’ll enjoy your nights sleep at Staffordshire Hideaway as the king size bed boasts premium bedding and linens. Pops of navy are added through the soft furnishings complementing the nude coloured headboard and light walls. The space is complete with matching bedside tables and a black metal clothes stand. Please note the king size bed can be split into two single beds if this would be more suitable for your stay.

The bathroom features a large walk in shower, a vanity unit with basin and a WC. Recently refurbished, it has tiled walls, dark wood effect flooring and a light up mirror.

Outside there is a cosy decking space with seating for two. Ideal for a morning coffee in the sunshine or an evening tipple as night draws closer, this is an added bonus in the heart of Whitby.

Host & Stay are committed to our owners that their homes are protected during bookings. For this reason, we require all of our guests to transfer a £250.00 Damage Deposit (subject to a £10.00 administration charge) or, to purchase an Accidental Damage Waiver for £25.00 which will cover you for up to £500.00 of accidental damage during your stay.

The opposite side of Whitby is full of narrow, medieval streets dotted with boutiques and pubs. Sample the catch of the day in one of the fish restaurants or visit one of the traditional sweet shops for all your candy needs. Climb the famous 199 steps up to the Church of Saint Mary and the renowned ruined Whitby Abbey, which was the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s gothic novel ‘Dracula’.

Step outside of Whitby and you’ll uncover a haven of woodland and moorland. Whitby forms part of the North York Moors National Park so it’s the perfect place for long walks.

Very good

We liked the proximity of the town with its shops, pubs and eateries. The apartment is modern and comfortable. The size of the apartment is just right for two.
The bed mattress was not very comfy resulting in restless nights for us.
Unfortunately the expelair in the bathroom was not working so the condensation took a long time to
dissipate

We loved our stay at Staffordshire Hideaway and will definitely return. The location is very central and just perfect for 2. Thank you ??

Great location, clean and fresh really modern apartment
The bed wasn’t comfy could do with a mattress topper or new mattress

Great little flat for a weekend getaway for my wife’s birthday. Private spot near pubs, restaurants and close to the heart of Whitby.

Good location
Entrance was a little difficult to find at first

We had a great time, the accommodation was beautiful just like the photos. The only thing that was disappointing was the bed. It was extremely uncomfortable. The owner of the property had pushed two single beds together to make a double and they were not the best mattresses at all.
However, this would not put us off from booking again. As long as they can confirm, I have changed the mattresses, At least we can have a comfortable night sleep.

Breakfast was not included however there was plenty of places to eat nearby with cafe's and restaurants. The location of the apartment was close to the centre about a 5/6 min walk and the residents were very friendly.
the beds in the apartment were a little uncomfortable with a fixed depth on each of the side of the bed probably there through age of the mattress. The room was clean and with plenty of space for my dog to relax and lie in his bed.

Apartment was actually furnished well but it was very unclean.
I am writing today to complain about our stay at Staffordhsire Getaway.
Firstly, when we arrived inside the property we noticed the level of cleanliness was very poor. There was dog hairs on the sofa/floor, food left in the sink, stains on cushions, fingerprints on cupboards and you could see the floor hadn't been mopped. Also, on the website it claims they have added a 'luxury coffee machine so you can enjoy a delicious coffee each morning' well there were no coffee pods to be found so felt disappointed that these were not replaced. The website also claims 'you'll find a luxury space in the bedroom, you'll enjoy your nights sleep, king size bed boasts premium bedding'. There is nothing premium about two single beds pushed together with the most uncomfortable spring mattress'. The fact we had to pay a security deposit to be able to stay in this place is absurd as the standards were so LOW.
Secondly, we didn't actually manage to stay the night, we had to sleep in the car with our dog, due the flat above. The walls are not very sound proof, we could hear a bunch of men stumble upstairs in the early hours of the morning, and continued to shout, move furniture until 3am, which we then felt forced to sleep in the car. Due to the noise they made, it made our dog very anxious and on edge, and he would bark at them making noises, so then the people above would give us verbal abuse, swearing, calling us names, making us feel extremely unsafe and vulnerable. We know this is not directly the hosts fault, but online this is labelled as a 'relaxing stay' and it was instead, quite traumatising. We would like a full refund for our stay as we did not actually 'stay' here, we had to leave in the early hours to our car on the road which felt safer than the flat as we felt so scared.

The location of the flat is very central, right in the centre of town. It could be a little noisy at times, but nothing to worry about. The communication was excellent, and the layout of the place was really good
As others have mentioned, we found the bed really uncomfortable.
We also had trouble with opening the windows for air, which might have contributed to a little surface mould on the bedroom window sill.

location
very uncomfortable bed(zip &link) sloped down at the sides, dirty floors in kitchen/living room, carpet not hoovered for what looked like a long time in bedroom, dirty toilet under rim, mouldy shower(tiled area)stained sink in kitchen, food splatters on wall, housekeeping need to learn how to clean the basics !!!

Nice cozy apartment which was perfect for a short stay, would definitely recommend and stay again

Layout of cottage was good ,
Some items were less than expected the providers have been made aware of these and acknowledged improvement

Key box by the door, code sent to me the day before
Excellent communication
Location
Cleanliness
Facilities
The little extra ie cleaning products, tea coffe supplied
My husband is in a wheelchair and there were 8 step to the property without a rail
We managed with it though

It was modern and well equipped
Double bed was two singles put together uncomfortable shower. Had no power

The apartment was lovely. The location was great too!
Unfortunately, I thought that the mattress on the bed was very, very uncomfortable. We felt every spring, so we didn't get much sleep. I would expect a quality mattress at the price we paid, not a mattress that felt cheap. A shame really, as the pillows and bedding were of a high quality .

Smack bang in the centre of Whitby, so a good location for exploring. Had everything we needed. Clean, fresh and modern (although fridge door shelves need a wipe).
THE BED. So, so uncomfortable. Mattress is thin, you can feel the springs and you can see it bowing in the middle. No mattress topper - yuk. Also, in summer it’s too warm for a thick duvet. I used my part of the duvet as a mattress topper (which didn’t really help) and bought a sheet for cover. Maybe have some spare sheets for people who would prefer a choice. I would stay at the property again but only when the bed was changed. Not very soundproofed so could hear upstairs neighbours.

The property was very modern except for the bed which has springs poking out of it. The access is unsuitable for people of a certain age or with walking issues. However they do not mention that on the web site.
Also parking is a very serious problem.
Mattress, access and parking.

Fantastic location, clean tidy well presented
Bed mattress very poor quality would say it’s actually collapsed one side and is not up to standard, Internet constantly dropping in and out, couple of things require money to be spent on the property.

For a place that you HAVE to pay a security deposit or waiver to be able to stay in this does NOT live up to standards. Firstly, the wifi didnt work, therefore the TV didnt work as it only had access to streaming services. The checkout time is contradictory, some places it says 10am but in the flat itself there was a frame that had a friendly reminder in that said "Midday". As well as this when things break in the flat you would expect them to get replaced, having had to pay a deposit etc. However, someone had clearly broken the cafetiere in a previous visit so it was not available to us, although the plunger for it was. There was however a nespresso coffee machine in the kitchen, great! No cafetiere but a nespresso machine, but no pods left so also unusable. The bed, probably the most uncomfortable bed I had ever slept in and barely got any sleep for the 3 nights we were there. There were also yellow stains on the linen on the bed...all in all, pretty underwhelmed.

Location, and clean.
Could feel all the springs through the mattress, mattress could do with being replaced (ideally better quality)
Would book again if mattresses issue was addressed, either with Memory Foam Topper or being replaced.

The apartment was lovely. Really cosy and had everything we needed. No complaints at all. Perfect location and beautifully finished. Would definitely stay again.

Great location right in the centre. Despite being just off a busy shopping street the property is tucked away around the back making it nice and quiet. Close to lots of nice shops and cafes. The bedroom and living areas were beautifully clean, although the bathroom, particularly the shower, could do with a deeper clean. Overall we had a lovely stay and would recommend to others.

Brilliant location, well furnished.
Bed was really uncomfortable

Cosy property located right in the centre of Whitby, all shops and city centre within walking distance.
The bed was not very comfortable, appeared to be 2 singles in one.

Location was excellent.
Accommodation was lovely but we had to pay a £250.00 Damage Deposit (subject to a £10.00 administration charge) or, to purchase an Accidental Damage Waiver for £25.00 which would cover us for up to £500.00 of accidental damage during our stay. This was not mentioned in the information prior to booking and we would not have booked and paid for it had all of this information been available when making the choice to book.
Communication was poor- had one email the day we arrived asking us to vacate the property the sunday by 10.00, then another email the next day asking us to vacate by 12.00 and then the day of departure another email by 10.00- very confussing.

Opuszczenie obiektu o 10 rano

Great location, modern decor
Nothing it was great

Perfect location. clean, modern and welcoming. Superb stay.
Only comment would be to replace the mattresses. It is two singles pushed together, which is fine, but both were quite uncomfortable, especially the left hand one; it has a big dent in it so you feel like you are falling off it all night.

Need to vac the sofa dog hair and dust on cushions at the back of it.

I don't feel it was worth the price.

- The bed was incredibly uncomfortable, you could feel the springs. We barely slept, which is no great when you're on holidays.
- The bedroom absolutely stank of cat litter. No matter how much we aired the place, we could smell it from the moment we arrived until the moment we left.
- When you pay £50 cleaning fee for staying 2 days, you expect a spotless clean flat (especially when it's a small 1 bedroom flat). We had spider webs all over our head on the bedroom, there were a few more in the living room/kitchen. The blinds were covered in dust and the settee is on high feet there was dog food all under, our dogs kept on trying to get it.
- The parking scratch park is useless because it's only in a small zone and it's completely full.

On the positive, the flat is very nicely furnished and you have everything you need. It's in the centre, you can walk anywhere.
The bathroom is incredible, the settee very comfortable, instructions very clear.

Great space with everything you need in a fabulous location. Strong, hot shower and nice and clean on arrival.

layout / facilities
nothing major some milk in Fridge would be good .bed needs to be a double not just 2 beds joined together

A beautiful apartment hidden away, great location, very comfy stay. Would recommend and would stay again. The only slight issue was the parking so we paid to stay in an ncp, but this worked out well as you found use your ticket in nearby by ncp car parks too.

Excellent property with everything you need for a great break. Dog friendly and in a fantastic location. Can't wait to return.
Nothing

very comfortable cottage, had everything we needed and location was fantastic
nothing

Would recommend the apartment.

It was just perfect , very comfortable, great location.. well done ?

Very good

Excellent location but a bit difficult to find at first and then get parked. Upstairs neighbours very loud - seemed to be stomping around/dropping things/moving furniture - not the host’s fault.

Venue itself was clean, tidy, well equipped, tastefully decorated and all in all, excellent value for money and a great base to explore Whitby.

Bit disappointed to receive several texts and emails before and during the short stay we had to remind me about checking out!

Everthing was good apart from beds mattresses seemed old and uncomfortable

Very cosy apartment in the heart of Whitby! Perfect location. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely return

great stay, good location, thanks!

Great place to stay clean and modern.

Location
The matress was really uncomfortable, and it was two singles pushed together

Very good accommodation; finished very nicely and to a high standard; has everything you need for a comfortable self catering stay. Compact but perfectly adequate for two persons. Shame it's surrounded by wheelie bins, one of which seemed to have regular glass deposits at unusual hours, but no real drama. Would definitively return.

The mattress was uncomfortable and we couldn’t connect to the wi fi

Location was great
The bed where it connects in the middle makes it hard to sleep as a couple but thats just preference. Went to set the table for tea and could see that the stacked mats hadnt even been touched as had the last persons food all over them and been stacked bk up which makes you wonder how thorough everything else has been checked/cleaned. Shower tray and bottom wasnt the cleanest. But lovely shower when in it.

Convenient for harbour and well furnished with good shower.
Smelt a little damp and parking a little way away.

Great location for centre of town
Parking was a lottery and complicated parking zones

Perfect for a couple who want to be in the heart of Whitby and use as a base. It was very clean, modern and comfortable. Whilst it doesn’t have any views and not really a place where you would sit outside and drink/eat, it really is idea to use as a base. It’s opposite the Angel pub (but up an alley so no noise) which was great on Friday night with a live band playing. We will stay here again. Thank you. Steve

perfect location, nice clean property with everything you need.
there was only one thing we didn’t like and that was the bed. being two singles that are put together and having the annoying gap down the middle of the bed made it really uncomfortable and didn’t have a good sleep.

great location, very clean property

Absolutely beautiful apartment, just could do with a refresh of paint perhaps. Very comfortable & right in the heart of Whitby.
On quite a busy thoroughfare which led us to keep windows closed & covered for privacy. Beautiful apartment, thank you for letting us stay .

clean modern good facilities
No oven gloves or tea towels

The property was very clean and had all the facilities required. The location was excellent being close to shops and the harbour.
The matress(s) were very hard and quite uncomfortable.
I suggest that the property owners should replace the matress(s) as they attract nearly all of the negative reviews of the property (it might get to the point that guests, on seeing previous reviews will not book this property for that reason).
In addition it might be beneficial to install a handrail next to the steps approaching the property as these are quite steep and very uneven.

Great location, very clean and comfortable.
Was hot so a fan would be beneficial.

Fabulous flat with everything you need for a short stay. Great location. Highly recommended.

Location good
Every noise from the above apartment

The flat is clean and has a comfortable bed and good shower. The microwave doesn’t work.

Had everything you could need except for a lighter duvet option but we did visit in a heatwave! Nice stylish apartment and very clean.

Very nice apartment and convenient
Microwave did not warm anything up.

Apartment excellent, location perfect..close to all the attractions, shops and eateries.Car park close by.

Great little place with everything we needed for an overnight stay. Could have easily stayed a few days here. Location was super Central, 10 mins walk to the beach and about the same up to the Abbey.

Fantastic modern place and great location!

Fantastic ?

Absolutely fantastic little apartment in the centre of Whitby. Spotlessly clean and well equipped. The location is great for exploring the town and close to shops and pubs etc. I will definitely be booking to stay again soon.

location, very well equipped & really modern.
just noisy upstairs but didn't spoil our time.

Good location and well finished
Microwave didn't work, tv aerial had no reception, when you arrive you have to write your car registration on the parking permit but there is no pen. That was nothing compared to when I went to my car on the final day to go home I found it had been bumped into an vandalised, it was covered in scratches where someone had dragged something over it and the back bumper had blue paint marks and gouges down the side. This isn't the property owners fault but if you have an expensive car and plan on staying here just warning you. It's going to cost close to £1000 to get my car paint back to the standard it was.

location, all mod cons. quiet and peaceful at night as tucked away from all the hustle and bustle.
parking near by can be a pain. the smoke alarms are far too sensitive.

We stayed here with our puppy and we all had a lovely time. The location was excellent, within minutes' walking distance to main attractions and waterfront. Beautiful surroundings down a pretty alleyway and courtyard. Lots of amenities and everything you need close by. Spotlessly clean, very well equipped and some milk left in the fridge which was very much appreciated after a long journey. Hosts are very quick to respond and sort any queries or issues.

Worth noting that the bed is very firm and made up of two single beds, which may be uncomfortable for some.

Overall a wonderful and enjoyable stay

Lovely clean place to stay, great location.

Lovely and clean nice and warm apart from noise above
Clean

Really great location and lovely property overall.

very clean and tidy, lovely location and great value for what your getting. Highly recommend.

Very good

Absolutely lovely clean modern everything was there that you need even down to tea coffee sugar even a pint if milk
Nothing

Ideal location, comfortable apartment.
Sound proofing regarding flat above was not good - footsteps were very loud, and you could hear the person above snoring!
Constant email chasing regarding verification of details was also annoying- this was completed very early on but I continued to receive chasers right up until the day before our arrival. This was despite having phoned on 3 occasions too!

Clean, modern, warm, well equipped- home from home

Excellent location! It was really clean and the decor is modern. There are some smalls steps up to it but not an issue for us. We had to park around a 2 minute walk away but I think this would be the same with most other places to stay in Whitby. If I went back to Whitby I would definitely chose this apartment again.

Excellent place to stay. The apartment was beautiful. Everything that you needed was there. Excellent location. Would definitely recommend this place.

amazing little gem. clean and so stylish! had everything we needed. we loved it so much, we were gutted to leave

Pleasant stay, great location.
Nice and modern.
WiFi continued to drop out during the 2 nights stay, bed are really firm and uncomfortable.
No batteries in TV remote on arrival, didn’t arrive until 1900hrs on a Friday night when all the nearby shops were closed, Host & Stay advised I went out and bought some ??

Nice, pleasant, location great.
Hassled by company.

Location was really good and so was the apartment couldn’t fault it

Very good

Everything could not fault
Nothing

The location was ideal in the centre of town. The hideaway was spotless with everything you could require during your stay.
Parking was not easy but there is a car park just round the corner if no zone spaces available.

Beautiful modern property, very clean, everything you need.
the bed was very hard and you could feel every spring, the noise from upstairs you could even hear them talking stomping about at 5 in the morning, didn’t get much sleep.

Great place. Location was amazing the only slight issue was finding a parking space was really hard but we did go in the school holidays. One thing to note is that the bed isn’t actually a double bed and is two single mattresses together which might bother some people. We still had a good enough sleep.

Beautiful space, spotlessly clean, very comfortable and the shower was superb, also quiet. This was an absolute spot on place to stay and it recharged us both, which like alot of people, we needed.
There was nothing to dislike at all.

Clean, modern and cosy. All the necessary facilities. Nice toiletries and lovely shower.
Heating didn’t seem to work from the thermostat so I had to manually turn the boiler on, might need looking at. Bed was 2 singles stuck together which made it a little uncomfortable but no big deal.

Brilliant location of Staffordshire Hideaway apartment. Clean and all the amenities that you require for your stay. The parking in the W Zones was effortless and just round the corner. Basically a lovely place to stay and near to everything for Whitby.

The apartment was very nice and everything was there for your comfort. But the mattress and the noise above failed its expectations of the property.
The bed was very disappointing , you could feel the springs in the mattress. My wife and I could not sleep for the 4 nights we were there we had to sleep on the top of the quilt so we could not feel the springs in the mattress digging into us. The most important thing is a comfy bed(not on this bed). Also we could hear the people above walking around at all hours and this was also unpleasant.

No breakfast, as self catering. Property and facilities excellent.
Awkward and uneven access stairs to enter property. Could do with a hand-rail.pr

Loved it wish we could have stayed longer x

The apartment was fully equipped with cooking utensils, which was extremely welcome as often these places have a bare minimum and being able to cook like at home was wonderful.
The shower was great for both tall and short people, and the entire place felt extremely spacious.
The location was wonderful, only a five minute walk from the harbour, the beach, and the town, and it was tucked away so it felt very private.
Staff were responsive and helpful with any queries we had.
Enough space in the fridge to keep us going, and close by to several grocery shops to stock up when necessary.
The nespresso machine has a smll leak which doesn't affect its performance, it just means that every so often a small puddle forms on the counter top under it and needs to be wiped up.
It can be a little warm even with the windows open, and to get airflow through the bedroom is difficult.

We have been to Whitby 4 times now and love the area, but this little appartment is not value for money, in fact we felt ripped off. We ended up going home 3 days early as was so noisy and we got no sleep. We could hear every step upstairs and the quests above had a dog which barked for long periods of time. The flat appears newly refurbished and is very clean and when we booked this earlier in the year there was only 1 review available. We can see that since then other guests have mentioned the noise as well. Though the flat is nicely done up you feel like it is in a basement as the windows have no view and most are at the level of the ground. Parking was difficult, though a prepaid parking card was provided by the owners all the W zones and free zones were full all day, so if you are going at a busy time of the year, be prepared not to use your car much.

Excellent location and beautiful accommodation.

Georgina H.

Property was lovely, great location, clean and extremely well presented.

Amazing

Apartment was modern and clean. Hosts had great communication prior to stay.

Small set of stairs at the entrance that was ok to carry a pram up but wouldn’t be wheelchair accessible.

Just what we were after for our stay in Whitby, would stay here again.

Sally H.

The accomodation is stunning. Well kitted out with stylish decoration and lovely furniture however, the noise from the upstairs apartment was at times unbelievably loud. Resulted in early mornings as you woke up when they woke up and then distracting through the day. Don't know if it's floor boards or lack of insulation so need to be aware and prepared.

The location was very central, we had a problem getting parked to unload, but we overcame that. The apartment has been renovated to a very high standard and was very well equipped and had a washer dryer and dish washer. The shower was excellent.
We wanted to watch the England match on the television but had problems with reception(may be due to the location)
May be due to the pandemic we thought the price was a little high as we have stayed in accommodation just as good for a lot less....

The apartment was lovely! Facilities were fab! We had a really nice time and enjoyed the apartment so much! Beautifully clean and styled.
Difficult to find! We found it by chance! There is an alley way with metal gate in between shops on flower gate road. You go down the alley and it opens to a little patio and this apartment is up a few steps to the right!

Great location. Lovely apartment. Good system for entry. It had everything we needed. Free parking if you are brave. Lots of good facilities to use and fully stocked apartment with everything we needed.
It was pricey but we did go at peak time. There is another apartment above it and at times it sounds like they are in the same apartment but we were hardly there so didn't bother us too much. We couldn't work out how to use the WiFi because the instructions told us to join a network that didn't exist. We preferred to pay for parking than try and use the ones near the apartment as the roads are quite tight.

Lovely little hideaway right in Whitby centre.
Everything as expected and the little outside space was a real sun trap - a treat in the morning.
Have stayed in more personal Airbnb places but this was clean and comfortable.

Everything about the apartment was spot on
So cozy for a romantic weekend

Great location, lovely accommodation & a great time .. Thankyou

Perfect little hideaway for a weekend away. Whilst it was tucked away and quaint, it felt spacious inside which makes a pleasant change from cramped properties. Very easy check in and messages explained everything thoroughly. I’d happily stay again!

Great, modern, clean apartment in a fantastic location in Whitby. Everything is within walking distance from the apartment and it’s a great place to return to after a long day walking on the Moors or on the beach!

A great stylish place to stay!

John P.

The place is Immaculately decorated and very well appointed with high quality appliances.
The problem with the property is that it feels that there has been no soundproofing between the apartment and the upstairs accommodation. We are assuming that has hardwood floors. Children running and jumping and furniture moving - all in a normal way I’m sure - was incredibly noisy when you are sitting downstairs in the place we rented.

Lynne E.

The property was located in a great place. Easy walking distance to everything. Newly renovated and perfect for a short stay in Whitby

Very clean, stylish apartment. Good location.

Fantastic location, 5 min walk to the sea front. Lovely stylish apartment with everything you could need.

Home Truths

Free parking is provided but this will be a few moments from the property.

Staffordshire Hideaway is located on a narrow communal passage just off Whitby's central Flowergate. It can be hard to miss so look out for Staffordshire Place.

The property doesn't have a bathtub but it does benefit from the large walk in shower.
