Venture along Pier Road and you’ll see arcades and shops, plus plenty more pubs and restaurants. Keep walking and you’ll reach the beautiful, blue flag West Cliff beach which is lined with beach huts. Take a stroll along the pier and watch the waves lap the shores below.

The place was lovely and located in the perfect spot. However, some basic essentials were missing from the property. We only had 1 bread knife to use for any food prep which wasn’t ideal, also no oven gloves so had to use the tea towel to get things out the oven. Also the hairdryer was broken and completely unusable. Apart from this everything was great!

Great location and easy to find. Parking space is a little bit tight however it's manageable. Check in was quick and easy. Cleaning in the Kitchen area, such as in the draws and cupboards could have been ever so slightly better as well as the Bathroom however it did not spoil our stay at all. We will absolutely stay at the Bird's Nest again. Thank you!

The quaint feel of the attic space apartment was perfect for us. It felt cosy and was perfect for a couple. The walk into Whitby was quick and easy, with many amenities on the doorstep. The guidebook helped with some suggestions of places to visit and we enjoyed two wonderful meals: Abbey Harbour and Moon and Sixpence, as well as delicious cocktails at Cafe Montmarte. All in all, a wonderful break, where we would be happy to stay again.

For some people, the sloped ceiling might be a problem but it was all part of the fun of an attic studio stay for us.

Good location close to the town centre and amenities.first time we’ve been to Whitby good location for first time visit.

Great space to explore Whitby and fantastic bonus of a parking space albeit a tight squeeze we managed it in a small suv. Very clean and had everything we needed. Thank you very much.

Location was super

I agree with previous reviews that said the settee wasn’t very comfortable and that it would be useful to have somewhere to hang your coats

Despite regular contract prior to arrival. When we arrived the keys were not in the key box. We contacted the host, who initially told us to look for the spare in a separate box (nowhere to be found). When we eventually spoke to the host we were told the apartment had been double booked and had to arrange an alternative accommodation.

Never saw it.

Ideal location and really clean. Great communication from the owners.

Low sloped ceiling was lower than expected and struggled to walk around the bed.

the boiler stopped working after a day and half, so no heating or hot water, the standard of cleanliness wasnt great and the was a bad smell coming from the shower room toilet when i returned. i left a day early and would like to discuss compensation

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, perfect size for 2 people. Ideal location only 5 minute walk from town centre.
Very clean, tidy and well kept
Noticed other reviews regarding finding the location. It is not hard at all, and parking space is only tight if you drive a bus.

Lovely quiet flat despite on a busy daytime route we heard nothing. Ideal walk into Whitby 10 mins.
Parking, warm, clean, v comfy bed, light and airy modern decor.
Yes a few scuffs on the entrance hallway and some dogs have obviously had a small nibble on the skirting boards but that’s bound to happen with some dogs
This shouldn’t detract from the positive comments oh also great shower. A wine cooler!
Thank you for the stay.

Location.. parking.. internet.. TV..

Boiler making an absolute racket all night.. we felt very unsure whether to stay or not.. didn't feel safe.. if we hadn't have had a drink we would have left that night and gone home..all cups were stained and dirty.. not been washed in a long time..

We have stayed at The Birds Nest apartment on several occasions and shall again . We always have a lovely comfortable ,quiet stay . Worm , modern and light.

Some small signs of wear to paintwork at skirting board near door on entering and water damage to the shower surround . Areas of lint in wardrobe and under bed

Good parking, nice and clean room all the facilities you needed and close to town

Signed could do to be a bit bigger got a little bit confusing. On arrival a lot of the properties next door to one another, have similar names and numbers. Just a little bit hard to see

A light modern apartment in a good location. Has parking, though quite a tight space.

The cleanliness wasn't best and on arrival in mid October needing heating, found the heating thermostat batteries flat. Host & Stay did however organise a re-clean and fresh batteries sorted the heating, so once this was in place we had a pleasant stay.

great location.

shower was good despite being a tiny shower room.

not obvious which was our parking space and when finally discovered it was a tiny space which you shoehorn yourself into. we phoned Host & stay and they were unhelpful.

the insurance payment ON TOP of the booking!! NEVER EVER had this with any booking! took 2 weeks to get my £250 back. upon arrival, saw dirty marks on the carpet, scuffs on the wall so felt I had to cover myself and video the place, evidencing it was not caused by us. really takes the edge off a trip but this is how this booking made us feel!

2 children in the property below clearly playing football 1st thing in the morning and waking us up!

cups were disgusting and heavily stained! frying pan looked like it had been put back in the draw after use likewise some of the cutlery.

no blackout blinds and really bright.

this could have been a great little stay without all
of the above, the insurance being the biggest issue leading to the fact we will never return to this place.

I never like to leave a bad review and if the above issues were fixed, I would actually recommend, so I hope the feedback is taken is received to not have future guest feeling like we did on what should have been a much needed, quick, relaxing getaway.

Clean and well maintained. Very comfortable

There was no loo roll at all when we arrived and there were a few things that we could have done with in the kitchen as well eg cooking oil, cheese grater etc.

Lovely little flat, perfect for 2 people for a couple of days. Location was a bit difficult to find initially due to it sitting just after a blind corner (if coming from one direction) and not showing accurately on the car maps. Parking space is very tight!!
Shower was lovely, powerful and clean. Two different head types to allow for showers without getting hair wet.
No washing up items left so had to buy our own. 2 dishwasher tablets were left for us but there wasn't a dishwasher so these weren't usable.
For note - the hairdryer is low power so if you have long/thick hair consider bringing your own. No full length mirror.
Location was central, making it super easy to walk everywhere, and a lovely view of the fields on one side and the river Esk on the other.
Would 100% stay again.

What a wonderful apartment and location. Absolutely perfect for a couple of days away to explore Whitby. Easy to access and just a short car journey to the lovely seaside Sandsend. We will be back

Close to the town, had a parking space, had everything we needed in the flat.

Bed was really uncomfortable, room was dusty, windows didn’t block any sound and two had no coverings so it was really bright from early in the morning. It looked nice from a distance. Whitby has boy racers that travel a circuit until approx 1am, blowing out their exhausts so we got little sleep.

Great stay. Within walking distance to everything we wanted. Nice flat which our dog also liked!

The location was good, with a great view.
The bed was comfy.
Access to smart TV with Netflix etc.

Not as advertised: there was no dishwasher as I had expected as I deliberately choose this property because of that.
There is nowhere to hang our out door coats or wet clothes as the radiator hanger is quite small.
This also means there is no where to hang your towel after a shower. ( which was lovely and fluffy!)
The on site parking is great, but the space is very small.

We have used this property before and it’s great ,quiet, comfortable, very convenient position to get into Whitby .

There were some snagging issues, marks to paint work, damage to the skirting board which weren’t there on our last visit . Some of the kitchen wear was stained ,would have helped to have a pan scrubber as black coffee dose stain the white mugs .

Clean and nice location.Apartment well equipped.communication with host and stay excellent.

Nothing couldn't fault it.

Great place to stay with dogs too. Very tight parking space as mentioned. Make sure you receive booking instructions before you arrive as I had to argue with David about my Airbnb receipt.

Beautiful apartment, definitely worth the money

It was in a perfect location very peaceful and had everything we needed..

The bed, although very comfortable was very tight in and was the sort the mattress sat in, I banged my legs so many times it was quite painful, some sort of buffer needed on the corners.

immaculately clean, well equipped and free parking. A great base for visiting Whitby.

Ceilings low by the bed. might consider changing the position of the bed. Two flights of stairs to the property - not ideal for people who struggle with steps.

It was modern, clean and had everything you could possibly need and was a better option than a hotel room. On-site parking was also a huge bonus as parking on the street appeared to be a bit of a lottery.

The only real negative was in regards to the bed and it’s position within the room. Due to the roof being at the top of the building the bedroom area has sloped ceilings which meant movement around the end of the bed was restricted and required the person on the right hand side to almost limbo through the gap. It wasn’t too much of a problem for the two nights we where there but we certainly couldn’t live with it if it was longer.

The bed was very comfortable. Nice and quiet. Good walking distance for Whitby. The shower was good.. Nice and warm with heating, we could adjus. Tv good

Sofa was uncomfortable if you sat for a while. Also, tall stools were not comfortable at all. No coat hooks for hanging coats. Parking space is very small. Luckily, no one was in the space next to us, or we wouldn't be able to get in or out. Also, having to pay a security deposit of £250 for just 2 days stay.. Then, you have to wait nearly 2 weeks before you are refunded. Never had this with other holiday companies .

Beautiful property, easy to find and in a great location. Perfect for a short stay at the seaside.

Struggled to get the heating to work but managed without. Could have had a couple of dogs bowls due to it being dog friendly.

great location and well equipped

nothing

Lovely flat within walking distance of Whitby old town. The parking was a bit tricky, but think that was more down to the other guests. Think the £50 cleaning charge was a bit steep but the flat was spotless. Overall though a nice place to stay.

nice and modern, views from windows , liked having 2 tv

uncomfortable mattress, very small apartment

Lovely location, bright and clean apartment, pretty view from the windows over the harbour.

such a cosy apartment clean warm and very comfortable quite great nights sleep designated parking spot.

nothing

lovely place will definitely stop again ..

This was a beautiful apartment and I would absolutely love to stay again! I've even suggested this place to stay to a friend who is looking to stay in Whitby in the next few months. There were plenty of pots and pans for cooking, the shower room was small but it was still absolutely perfect and we absolutely love the open plan space!! We took our pooch with us and there was more than enough space for him and us! Personally, I'm rather picky with pillows, but for the first time in a long time i slept so well and was so comfy! 10/10 for location and the car parking spot was a bonus too! I would recommend to anyone!

There is nothing not to like about this beautiful place! The only one small thing which I would have loved to see was maybe some hooks to hang coats? Due to the time of year we had long winter coats with us which we struggled to hang in the wardrobe. So maybe just one small suggestion to maybe place some hooks in the porch area.

well defined located and comfortable. we weee able to bring our dog with us. Whitby is a quaint festive coastal town with great seafood restaurants and friendly people

I did not like the lack of response of staff when we said there was a window which when you opened came off the line of its hinges and was impossible to close letting in a cool draft

really good location to everything but just far enough out for peace and quiet too

slopping roof above the bed

Lovely and modern. Very clean. Comfy bed and great location for walking into whitby.

Could have been improved by having a plug near a mirror to dry hair. Also the low roof in the bedroom area is a little difficult to manoeuvre around.

Location and clean.

Headroom to get in and out of bed was rediculous, my wife had to walk around the bottom of the bed and banged her head and back a couple of times on the roof slope. The slope stopped me getting to the other side. Ok for 1 night but not good for longer for the price. Thought it was good using a local business but think we will stick to hotels. Especially as you are charged either a damage insurance of £25 for your stay or leave your card details as cover instead but still charged £10 even if all ok. Travelled a lot and never charged extra at any hotel I've ever stayed. I would not recommend this or host and stay if that's their standard approach.

The property was comfortable, well equipped and in a great location from which to explore Whitby.

The host's agent's communications could have been quite a lot more streamlined. I found I received innumerable emails instructing that I pay a damage deposit or damage insurance or that my stay would be cancelled, and I continued to receive them even once I had paid it.

The property was lovely and light ,clean and had all the needed facilities and although winter worm. There were coffee and tea provided and milk in the fridge bonus

The sloping roof to the bedroom side did inhibit movement around the bed but a minor issue for use.

Well presented, clean and tidy.

It’s a bit on the small side, found it a little awkward getting around the bedroom because of the sloping ceiling.

We had a lovely stay in this property. Great location and views!

Perfect location

Chipped side plate and breakfast dish.
Things left under the bed.

Excellent property, finished to a high standard
Very clean and modern

Would recommend, lovely stay

The location is great. 10 mins to the old market town and swing bridge and 5 mins in the opposite direction is a lovely field and small woodland for a dog walking, perfect for our springer. The dog friendly beech and steps to the Abbey are also within the 10 mins.

The sofa is not the comfiest but then you are not there to sofa surf. Also the ceiling height around the bed needs some negotiating.

Exactly as described, we stayed earlier in the year and it hasn't changed.

Light and airy.

The bedding was tired, it had lots of marks and rips
along the seams. The carpets and sofa could do with
a good hoover as well.

The decor was stunning and it was lovely!

Needed some wooden or plastic utensils for the kitchen as only metal ones provided which wasn’t good for the pans.

Apartment was nice, short walk from restaurants and bars. Car parking was a bonus.
Comfy bed, tea coffee n milk provided.
Nice modern apartment.
Good facilities if you wanted to eat in.

No black out blinds so very light at 5.30am.
Quite noisy even with windows shut, seagulls started around 5.30am and traffic around 6.30am.
Very small bathroom sink.

location was excellent.

lack of basic essentials (washing up liquid, dish cloth etc. )

Apartment was spotless it looked brand new.. Good location. Parking space a big bonus in Whitby.
Dog friendly
Great communication from Host and Stay

A bit on the small side but o.k. for the two of us and the dog. Nothing else.

The Birds Nest is well located and finished to a high standard. Having a parking space was a bonus although it was a very tight space. The accommodation was also very cramped and although well equipped, the kitchen was a little awkward to use and I wouldn't have wanted to tackle much more than tea and toast. The intrusive eaves in the bedroom also became a bit tedious after a couple of days. It was a nice place to stay for a night or two but for the price paid I expected more.

Very clean, very well equipped, within easy walking distance of everything Whitby has to offer. Host & Stay give all info you could need & are available for any questions/help, not that we needed it.
Would definitely stay again. Perfect little place. 5 Stars ?

fresh and clean

I was given the wrong details of Address

Location to the town. Quality of fixtures and fittings.

Parking spaces very small when all the flats are occupied. Lack of hooks to hang wet coats or garments. Had to complain about dirty Grill pan left by previous occupants, should have been noticed by cleaning staff. Dishwasher would have been a more sensible option than a washing machine. Who washes clothes whilst on holiday ?

clean, good location

nothing

Great apartment with everything we could ask for in a perfect location central to Whitby.

Great location clean and tidyp

Great location within easy walking distance of the harbour, bars, restaurants and shops and even a view of the Abbey from the bedroom window! Everything you need for a short break away, would highly recommend for anyone wanting a stay in Whitby.

decor

parking space slightly tight.

A lovely little flat in a good location. Parking was a bit tight as it's in a corner, but we were able to park behind the space itself with no issues whilst we were there. The flat is a bit smaller than appears in the pictures, but there was enough space for the two of us comfortably. We found a couple of issues with cleanliness (despite the £50 cleaning charge), and it's a shame there are no recycling facilities (only a rubbish bin), however, we were overall pleased with our stay and would consider using the company again for future bookings in Whitby or elsewhere. The flat has been tastefully furnished and decorated, and looking at other listings this seems to be common amongst the host's properties.

Well-located and though on the compact side, well-equipped – perfect for two for a weekend!

location

The parking

Exactly as described, very nice apartment with lots of natural light in a good location close to the harbour. Would definitely recommend.

Lovely, comfortable, perfect for one night!

Great location

nothing

Lovely, clean flat in a great location. Check in was easy and we had no problems finding it. We enjoyed our trip to Whitby so much!

modern and great location

it was dirty and hair all over the bed, we moved very quickly to another accommodation and the matter was dealt with quickly and efficiently by host and stay

Too small

Clean and fresh. Staff very efficient even when problem arose and was quickly sorted.
Tea,coffee, sugar and milk waiting for us on arrival.

Nothing..all as said it would be.
(A roof terrace from the kitchen would have been fab )

There were a few things that weren't working properly at the apartment which we have reported so hopefully they will be fixed for future guests. The apartment had everything we needed for a 3 night stay. It was handy to have a car space. There was everything you needed to make meals and a good size refrigerator. The apartment was very quiet. The location is very hand to all the Whitby stores, restaurants and the abbey. We were there during winter so Whitby was relatively quiet. The apartment was heated very well. Check in and out is very easy.

cosy, clean and quirky

struggled getting hot water in the shower and the sink cold water tap when turned on to fast pushed up centre and started leaking .

Great location next to Marina, short walk into Whitby town centre. Dog friendly.

Arrived in the dark, took a second attempt to find Hogarths Yard, easy in the light for sure!!

Very well equipped cosy apartment, excellent location just outside the centre, with the added bonus of a parking space, we will definitely be back

Was just missing some coat hooks which could easily be installed in the inner hallway.

Could not access WI-FI

Good location and was near harbour

We liked the views , furnishings and cleanliness, coffee, tea & milk supplied and lovely toiletries , lovely & bright & great location.

Although the skylights are lovely giving lots of light and character ,avoiding the low sloping ceilings can become a bit of a challenge, especially manoeuvring in & out of bed,.Our stay was 2 nights , if you spent a a longer period it would become tiring.

The place was lovely, location was perfect, and the apartment had all the home from home amenities. However the price was really steep, and for what we paid we were really disappointed when we got there to find out the cleaning had not been done properly, there was blood on the sheet, used foil on the baking trays, crumbs on the floor, and the hoover and cleaning equipment had been rammed in the wardrobe making it useless for hanging clothes! When I contacted the owners regarding the cleaning, I was asked if I wanted a reclean I said yes but it never happened. However it was a peaceful location and had lovely views over the harbour.

The location was perfect close enough to the centre of Whitby, only a short walk 5mins, far enough away so the night life did not disturb.

There was nothing to dislike, a lovely property, my only criticism would be required a deeper clean in certain areas such as food crumbs and dust in between sofa cushions

Height of tv’s in comparison to seating is not good.
Bench stools or high seats very uncomfortable.

Apartment stylish

Shared door system and parking

Very clean, excellent location. Parking a bonus. Highly recommended.

Great location - quiet and has parking but very close to attractions. Well equipped. Nice decor.

Would be good to have coat hooks and towel hooks and a bit more room for clothes

Lovely luxurious flat. High standard fittings and kitted out with everything you need to self cater. Nice bed.

All good no problems at all.

Location was brilliant. 1st impressions very good.
Dog friendly. We had a lovely time.
Parking space a bonus.

Definitely worth a stay and would stay again in future.

The ceiling in the bedroom is far too low I'm only 5ft8 and I hit my head several times.
Cigarette burn in sofa.
Room temperature on arrival was 27° and felt very uncomfortable. Once aired it was OK.
Storage of Christmas tree in wardrobe not ideal.

The apartment was very clean.

The sofa was not very comfy. There is not enough storage space and there are no coat hooks or anywhere to put wet coats. There is nowhere to hang damp towels.

Location
Apartment

Well furnished. Good location.

Poor clothes storage, shower temperature control iffy.

Location

It is a small flat and it needs more storage. Towel hooks and shelves in the bathroom would help. Coat hooks and show rack in the entrance hall would help. The small wardrobe was half filled with a Xmas tree!

Good location and clean and tidy

Couldn’t work the Wi fi out

Beautiful apartment like from home to home the bed was so comfortable we loved our stay really close

Well appointed apartment with everything we needed for our stay.

The low sloping ceiling above the bed caused a few headaches and bumps. Also the accommodation was very warm to hot .(25c mostly). It is a pity that not all of the windows had blinds making it very light in the early morning!

Advertised as a one bedroomed property, it is not, it is a studio. Bed is difficult to access from one side as ceiling slopes almost onto the bottom of the bed. Not all windows have blinds near the bed so early morning wake up with the sun shinning in. Sofa very uncomfortable. Bathroom is absolutely tiny. No storage in there even the towels seem too big for the room.
Tiny wardrobe storage for clothes but this was full of Christmas decorations so could not be used.
Location to town was good.

Great place, parked car and then didn’t use until we left. Easy walk into Whitby, plenty to do, loved the walk to Robin Hoods bay via Cleveland way.

Really nice apartment and perfect distance to Whitby

Very clean. With modern kitchen and shower room. Comfortable king size bed Great location. we would book again

A fantastic apartment for a two night stay in Whitby! Just a short 10 min walk to all the shops, bars, pubs and restaurants! Exceptionally clean and modern. Will be visiting again!!

Very clean, tasteful decor and fantastic views.

Great location modern and clean

Great stay couldn’t of asked for anymore

Lovely little bolt hole. Everything you need. As compact as the birds nest is it’s very well thought out and accommodated 2 adults and 2 dogs. Clean and well situated for a walk into Whitby.

We had a lovely stay at the bird’s nest apart from appliances not working such as heating & the washing machine which was unfortunate given the price we paid for a 5 night stay - however these were quickly fixed when we messaged the team. The flat is great in terms of the river harbour view / location - a short 10 minutes walk into Whitby. Check in was easy and parking was included.

Well situated, beautifully decorated and exceptionally clean studio. Just be aware that the bed is in the eaves and it is difficult to get in and out on one side of the bed. Also parking is not marked Flat 2 - marked BN (quite small space).

Home Truths

The apartment is located on the second floor so you will need to climb stairs.

The Birds Nest is located on a new development which can be tricky to find. We will send over a Google Pin of the exact location prior to arrival - we recommend referring to this to help you find the property. Owner instructed only one dog allowed at the property.

If you are travelling with more than one vehicle, you will need to park in a pay and display carpark or nearby free parking. Full details would be provided prior to arrival.

The bedroom has sloped ceilings so we ask guests to mind their head when navigating around the room.
