The Funky Robin

Great location, clean and tidy apartment with enough condiments, cutlery and plates. Strong smell of drains on the first night and could not open the window in the bathroom to get rid of the smell. Would appear that the pillows had not cases on two of the pillows had not been changed as they smelled unlaundered.

Absolutely perfect location for exploring Whitby, lovely 5 minute walk into town or even closer to the seafront! Loads of instructions given beforehand which was helpful, and super cosy and well maintained apartment- perfect for a few nights away :-) The only minor negative was added charges for cleaning and accidental damage, makes the initial price you see per night not what you're actually paying, however now I would know to add this on, would definitely stay again and recommend to others!

Whitby has always been one of our favourite places and staying at the funky robin was really good Not sure if anything could have been better but possible supplying enough parking permits for the whole week would have been good.

Large rooms, large bed (2 singles put together), very clean (bar the shower edges around the bottom), good kitchen equipment, comfy sofa & chair, large TV (if you could get it working), property was warm on entering, secure once inside, no noise from flats above or below & parking vouchers provided. Wi-fi good. Welcome pack is online, a paper one would be handy for those who prepare a paper copy. One little shower gel and one shampoo (should be two if two people staying) and some toilet provided. Sachets of tea/coffee & sugar are available in the cannisters, could of done with some milk for on arrival. Flat was large with nice ornaments and mirrors, however we only found the TV guide on the last day as it was mixed in with local menus - the TV does need better instructions as we struggled to get the Now TV to work & Netflix button showed nothing and most times we lost connection completely. Key code a bit awkward, has to try a few times to open the box. Windows would only open a small amount in the living room (just one window) and kitchen, window in bathroom would not open at all so the flat had little fresh air flowing through, found this quite stuffy. Shower tray had like black mould, a bit smelly on arrival, & the window would not open in the bathroom so again this was quite stuffy especially when showering - did try the keys but they didn't work for this window. Washing machine needs instructions, couldn't work out where the quick wash button was. No mattress cover on the bed and sheet very thin so you could see the mattress underneath and feel the join of the two single beds, I feel a protector would sort that out and no pillow protectors either, but these did not affect our sleep but the lack of air in the flat did. And lastly too many emails texts, especially when reminding us to vacate the property - just one would suffice.

Good location Bed not made up on arrival. No towels, pillowcases, bath mat or tea towels. Took until 1pm the following day to get the items needed after numerous phone calls & frustration.

The apartment was in a great location to all the amenities. But needs some attention could do with a good clean the bedding had a mark on it the chair was very stained needs a deep clean it was just a bit tried the photos shown carpet in living room and it’s wooden floor yes the shower was great but like others say grout needs redoing just needs a bit off love and attention and will come back and stay love going to Whitby

Nice location, close to the cliffs, beach, main town, bay,etc. Close to very nice italian restaurant, 100% recommend. Only thing nice in the apartment was the bed. First of all, "Damage deposit" it is stated in information section that it is fully refundable, where in fact 10 GBP manipulation fee is charged, that is unacceptable, Booking Customer support helped us with that. This brings us to second subject, I'm boggled with all the "clean and tidy" comments, as what we encountered was a moldy bay window wall, mold in shower, chipping rusty radiator paint, dammaged walls and overall worn feel of the place. This place should undergo urgent renovation and not be milked in current state. Pictures are quite dated and it was just unpleasant and cold inside without options to heat up the place, we visited at July 2024. Parking is a nightmare, but this is how the whole area works, so good luck. Also, scaffolding on the front so the moldy bay window may be fixed soon. At current state, absolutely do not recommend.

Die Wohnung ist sehr geräumig und geschmackvoll eingerichtet. Die Lage zum Strand und zur Innenstadt ist super, alles ist schnell zu Fuß erreichbar. Außerdem ist eine Waschmaschine vorhanden. Die Vermieter reagieren bei Fragen unmittelbar. Es war super!

property needs upgrade in bathroom as shower cubicle was very tired with dirty grout shower head needs replacing. bay window in lounge shows signs of damp with peeling wall finishes. The kettle was unusable due to dirt & heavy limescale, we had to use a saucepan to boil water for hot drinks.All reported to Host, no action was taken. would not return.

Spacious property, large bed, kitchen was well equipped. No wardrobe in the bedroom

Bed was huge and comfy. Shower very powerful. Lovely high ceilings made it feel spacious. Good location away from busy town centre but only 5 minutes walk away. Signal poor on TV. Also to be hit with extra charge for damage insurance just before holiday and before giving you access instructions. Didnt mind paying it however felt a bit sneaky, this should have been advised about and added up front when booking.

Rooms are super big, cosy and the beds are huge and comfortable. Very homely and great location, five min walk from beach. No handrail in or outside the flat, the stairs leading to the flat are really steep so if had mobility issues with no handrail would be quite tricky. The smell from shower once finished wasn't pleasant at all. The middle blind in the sitting room didn't wind open and scaffolding / works around the building, thankfully no workmen in the morning as over the weekend.

It was self catering the location was good not to far from centre with sops and pubs nearby

Brilliant location, excellent parking provision with parking permit. Easy access to the flat, was clean and tidy. Bed was huge and pretty comfy, WiFi is good and the TV channel availability is good. The yellow chair is super comfy. Plenty of space for 2 people. Terrible deposit system where you have to pay £10 admin fee for the privilege of them holding £250 on your card for a week OR a scandalous option of £25 waiver to cover you for any damage. That is awful and would put me off booking again. Consider these additions when booking vs a hotel or other options! The flat needs a few more utensils in the kitchen. We had no washing up liquid or sponge so had to make do despite asking for some to be provided. Hot water in the shower was luke warm and on checking the boiler the pressure was on the floor so nobody had checked this. Overall the flat was nice enough but lacks a coziness. Some big pictures of painted colour on the wall would go a long way. Needs a curtain not just a blind on the door in the bedroom as there is a draft and some curtains in the lounge too would help, as woild a rug. We paid £100 per night and would have expected something a little more homely.

Location was very near to local amenities. Apart from wine glasses, there was only one glass, we had to buy one. The 2nd draw down in the kitchen is broken,everything fell off the back. A washing up bowl and a couple of coat hooks would have been useful and the bathroom window wouldn't open.

A lovely property in a central location. Clean, comfortable and ideal for what we needed. We were asked to pay a £25 damage waiver insurance or refundable sum of £250 fee against damage by direct message after paying for the rental. This took the edge off the booking and the company should have been upfront about this additional payment at the booking stage. I have not had this through Booking.com before

Having extra charges of insurance of £25 before you could your key was released which was not mentioned until the balance had been paid. Never had this before on Booking.com

The Funky Robin is a comfortable & very well located apartment in Whitby - we'd be happy to stay again when visiting the town.

Was in a good location for the sea front. We had trouble getting parked and had to park miles away and walk. Then we couldn’t get the key lock to open. The property had a funny smell when we got there and there was stained furniture, peeling damp on the walls near the window. If you used the sink in the kitchen then a horrible smell came through the bathroom. We ended up leaving early due to the horrible smell. The bathroom needed tlc. The shower was mouldy but worked ok. Also, once I’d booked the apartment I was told I’d have to pay a £25 non refundable accidental damage deposit. Outrageous for how much time we actually stayed in the apartment. We won’t be staying there again.

We very much enjoyed our stay at this accommodation. We had a couple small things that meant we didn’t feel comfortable giving 5 stars. Overall the location, check in and decor were great. We were a little disappointed that the bed is described as king or queen sized but it is actually two singles pushed together so of course, we didn’t overly love having a hard seam going straight down the middle of it. We also noticed the cleanliness wasn’t amazing with sticky cup rings on the small coffee tables in the living area and a pretty dusty mirror - which are things we’d assume should be cleaned after every stay. As other reviews have mentioned, the grouting in the bathroom could be redone too. Despite all this we had a great time here and the water pressure in the shower is to die for. We would definitely recommend staying here!

Wonderfully comfortable bed, great location, lovely bright and light apartment. Full cooking and washing facilities available, good shower and en suite bathroom. Due to its excellent location parking is scarce, parking pass in the W zone is provided but you may have to park on a pay car park just because it's so busy. There is a big screen TV but could not do any streaming on it, no big deal when you've got Whitby on your doorstep. We plugged a usb stick in the TV with some spooky films on.

It was clean and well decorated. It was just what we needed. I can’t think of any complaints. Although the pictures on the wall were a bit rubbish

This space is in an ideal location in beautiful Whitby, it was a very comfortable stay and the accommodation had everything you’d need, we are looking forward to returning!

Location, kitchen well equipped, washing machine Having to wait for parking permit - was only given a 2 day permit for a 3 day stay. Permit was promised to be dropped off, but we had to wait and was over the time limit when arrived, so could have been ticketed. We could have done without this stress. An H&S maintenance man who was passing while we were waiting helped by contacting the office on our behalf - he was very helpful, however Also, don't agree with the damage deposit of £250 which was taken out of my credit card 11 days before stay and not refunded until a week after return - a small marker could have been put on my credit card, eg £1 rather than the £250. Very uneasy knowing whether we would be charged for some existing 'damage'. This has put me off using Host and Stay in the future.

Very well equipped and lovely and clean location just perfect

The breakfast wasn't provided. The bed was lovely and on the whole it was well equipped. The stairs had no banister rail, someone had obviously grabbed the light to steady themselves as it was loose. A banister on the second flight was missing probably because someone had grabbed it to stop from falling. This is dangerous. There was poo in the loo brush container which wasn't nice. There was noise fromthe above flat until 1.00am which kept us awake one night. Perhaps it could be suggested that people are quieter after 11.00. The glasses were mismatched and not really the right size.

Booked last minute. Good location only a few minutes from the shops, cafes and beach. We managed to park on the street opposite using the parking ticket provided which was handy. Locating and checking in via the lock box was all simple. Host & Stay took a £250 deposit which I felt was a bit steep for a one night stay. They then charged an extra (non refundable) £10 to take the deposit (on top of what we had already paid through Airbnb). Felt the cleaning could have been better as there were bits on the carpet and crumbs in the kitchen. The shower also needs re-grouting as it was stained brown which was quite off putting.

Location The additional indemnity charge no matter how short the stay. Cleanliness, could be better as cobwebs etc.

Deposit required for any damage either via credit card or £25 insurance which have never paid before. Might be better to mention this prior to booking as adds to the cost if you choose the latter.

The flat itself was very nice and well situated for the sea front. Pity it wasn't cleaned and up to its best ! It wasn't cleaned when we arrived.We were asked to come back in an hour, so they could have the cleaner come in, which we then did. Upon return to the flat, the housekeeper was still there , only room shed cleaned was the bathroom. She had no clean bedding for the bed and the flat was stinking of rotten eggs eminating from the bathroom. We called host and stay so see if we could stay elsewhere, all they could offer was to send a technician to see what the problem was. It was almost 6pm, we weren't happy with the situation at this point so ended up leaving and driving all the way back to Lincolnshire. I called Host and stay for a refund, which they refused. They eventually refunded £60 because they hadn't had to clean the flat after our booking. Laughable !!!

The accommodation is really nice and close to where we wanted to be Host and stay communications. Absolutely appalling to the point of me never using booking.com ever again

Conveniently located, well equipped flat. The yard at the front could do with a little TLC, but the flat itself was clean and cosy.

Excellent accommodation. Clean and spacious. Brilliant,quiet location Only downside was the parking but it's Whitby after all. As is wide enough to safely unload your luggage though.

Parking was sparse but we managed to find a space a minutes walk away. Once in the apartment, parking scratch cards were on the table which we filled in and gave us free parking until checkout day. Just around the corner was the coastal walk and at the bottom of the road was the lovely shops and cafes on each side of cobbled streets making their way to the harbour. The apartment was very clean although a little more attention to the grout in the shower wouldn’t go a miss. Having said that the shower was excellent with good water pressure and constant temperature. The bed was superbly comfortable and linen crisp, white cotton. The kitchen facilities were good with plenty of equipment for a decent stay. Neighbours were reasonably quiet but doors and creaky floors above could be a problem if other guests were noisy. All in all a great stay and we’d book again.

Funky Robin is a spacious, bright and well-equipped flat that's an easy walk to Whitby's attractions. Do bear in mind when looking for Hudson Street on arrival that the north side of Hudson Street is called Abbey Terrace. It is a peculiarity of Whitby that a few streets have two names, one on each side. Locals should be able to explain why

Love the location, decor, and soft furnishings are great. Bed huge and very comfortable. No window in the bedroom and unable to regulate the room temperature.

Apartment is in a good location and was nice and clean, the Host & Stay instructions were clear and check in was easy. Host & Stay were very responsive to any questions we had. There was no parking scratch card in the apartment when we arrived so we had to use one of the local pay and display car parks. We did get a ticket the following day to use. We enjoyed our stay and Whitby is a great place to stay. .

Great location for shops bars restaurants and views We had to pay a £250 damage deposit in addition to the cost of the apartment, and we weren't aware of this before we booked. This seemed over the top for a 2 night weekend away for a couple and I've never had to pay a deposit like this before when booking with Booking.com. We also had to wait 2-3 weeks before getting our deposit back minus £10 admin fee.

Had everything we needed. The location was perfect. Beds were really comfy. Good that they gave us a parking permit. Hard to park on the street. Shower could be a bit warmer. No issues other than that.

Overall a good central location for Whitby town centre etc only a 10 minute walk to all shops / attractions/restaurants etc . Very quiet .

Location of property short walk into Whitby. Bed large and very comfortable. Apartment spacious. Kitchen adequate had everything you would need. We were on first floor but had noisy people arrive upstairs and the sound of moving furniture was very loud and travelled down. The toilet seat was loose and the boiler was positioned right above the toilet making it a little cramped. The shower was good but nowhere to put soap/shampoo etc other than the floor. A lot of additional excessive information required as part of the booking process even for a two night stay.

No Breakfast included, but there was tea, coffee and a pint of milk which was a nice touch. The location was good, however would be hard for someone with mobility issues. I thought the bathroom was a bit in need of a refurbish. the radiator pipes were very dusty and when standing up from the toilet it was easy to bang your head.

it was quaint and lovely. perfect for what we needed. I hate to give negatives but could have done with a good dusting and we put out previous rubbish.

The accommodation was a main room with adjoining kitchenette and bedroom with en-suite bathroom. The place was very clean and tidy, with excellent communications by the hosts. Thank you for an enjoyable stay.

Great place to stay in Whitby. 2 mins from the beach, and a nice stroll into the town. The place is lovely & the lounge area is nice and bright. We had a lovely long weekend stay there. Very nice place!

Funky Robin is a nicely furnished flat in the centre of the town, just a few minutes walk from the clifftop and harbour. You are able to park the car and walk everywhere. The flat is light, clean and well equipped and even with all the hot weather pleasantly cool.

Very comfortable, good position, everything you need in the apartment, very spacious, at busy times the parking is a nightmare! Certain things in the apartment weren’t particularly clean, the grout between the tiles in the shower could do with a scrub, also the bathroom floor! The kitchen wasn’t as clean as it should be.

The Funky Robin is a lovely apartment, really clean & in a great location, however, our 1 night stay was not so smooth. Firstly in the communication sent prior to our arrival regarding check-in (the info is informative & pretty extensive), it was noted that parking is a problem & W zone parking is available for guests, if you have a scratch card, which the apartment provides on check-in. On our arrival, there was no parking card, so we waited for around an hour for Housekeeping to drop one around. The second issue was that there was no hot water. Having someone come out to check the thermostat would have incurred a fee. The apartment management advised that the issue was to do with the thermostat & talked me through the settings on the thermostat with the promise that the water would be hot when we returned from dinner. Unfortunately, it wasn't. We were in the apartment for around 18 hours. 2 of those hours was spent trying to address the above issues. I have lodged a complaint with Host & Stay & am currently waiting for a response. It’s been almost 2 weeks.

The location. The toilet seat was a little wobbly!!

Not spplicable My wife suffered a stroke a few years ago and was anxious climbing the stairs and walking down them because there was no hand rail on either side of the stairs up to the flat Also the outside steps up to the front door do not have a hand rail and these steps are quite steep and are probably slippery when wet.Are Health and Safety aware of this and has a Risk Assessment been carried out?

This is a lovely apartment only a few minutes walk from the town/sea. Plenty of room with everything we needed for our stay. Definitely a recommended rental.

The location was good. The question about staff is N/A as we didn't see any staff. Very comfortable with all necessary facilities. I didn't like being pressured to complete the verification information,. I am a DPO and pointed out Superhog wanting driving licence or passport details is excessive. After reading their privacy policy and what and who they share the details with plus retaining this information for 7 years!! for a 1 night stay is excessive . Please look up details and principles of GDPR. I didn't complete this and maybe something to looking at a different method?

Fantastic little apartment in an ideal location for anyone wanting to explore on foot and leave their car behind. Great communication throughout the whole experience making this a great choice fir any couples wanting a short break.

Very clean and provides everything you need,even a pint of milk in the fridge which is a nice gesture,hosts easy to contact if needed,lovely comfy bed and pillows,very bright and airy,we came down to Whiby 40 years ago on our honeymoon and wanted to return to celebrate our ruby anniversary,don't think we could have picked anywhere better than Funky Robin.

Perfectly located less than 5 minutes from the cliff tops and paths down to the beach, and similar distance to Khyber Pass. The flat is comfy and warm, the bedroom is at the back so a very quiet place to sleep, it's a generally quiet road anyway. Very easy self check in and everything was as described. Spacious living area and big comfortable bed, also full sized oven/hob. Highly recommended.

A bright.airy, warm and welcoming apartment. Very clean and well equipped for 2 people. Spacious lounge and bedroom with very comfortable bed! Location is 5 minutes walk from the sea and lovely distant views of the Abbey from the front of the premises. Parking is challenging however especially at the weekends.

Fab location, a walking distance to everywhere you need. Well equipped with everything you need in the kitchen (and elsewhere) and huge comfy bed. Thanks we had a lovely time!

We stayed at this lovely well equipped appartment for 4 nights. We were happy with the appartment but the parking is dreadful. We rode around for 2hrs trying to park when we arrived and then had to park on a pay and display. We are senior citizens and parking was included in the price but nowhere to park close to the appartment. However Whitby is a lovely place but in future we would stay where there was allocated parking.

Well located and fair sized flat. The bed and sofa were both very comfortable but the bathroom was disappointing, with shower needing to be rerouted and the toilet seat and hand were loose and the cistern coming away from the wall. Many surfaces were dusty and the grill pan not washed and had cooking fat. Not value for money

The Funky Robin is a lovely little flat in a brilliant location with quick and easy access into Whitby and the surrounding area. Its warm, really nicely furnished and very comfy. The host is quick and helpful with comms and whilst we struggled to get WiFi on the first day (which was down to the internet provider), this was quickly fixed. Our stay was also reasonably priced and great in comparison with other flats in the area. Id definitely recommend a stay there if you're looking to explore Whitby and nearby locations like Robin Hood's Bay and Staithes.

Funky Robin was a great find. The place was more than spacious enough for the two of us and I can’t even describe how comfy the sofa was(!!) Great location just one street back from the sea front and lots of kitchen bits and bobs provided which was a nice touch. Monkey lamp in the bedroom a little scary but otherwise tastefully decorated with lots of space to make yourselves at home

Lovely little apartment just a couple of minutes walk from the sea and only 5 minutes to all the restaurants and shops. The location was perfect. Very easy to check in and good email communication from the hosts regarding check in and out, any COVID requirements and parking instructions. Would stay again.
