It was clean. Handy for the front if you are ok to walk up a short but steep hill. Cost property. I had no issue with my bedroom (main one). Plenty of lighting. Loved the dining room table to sit round playing games and chatting.

Lack of ‘stuff’ - logs, matches, dishcloths, only 2 loo rolls for potentially 8 people. If not provided, would be great if you could say, so people can bring it.
Parking - people. Wed to be prepared it is probably unlikely you’d get parked outside from what we saw. We did get 5 mins away though, for no fee - or there is the Co-op car park.
10am check out in a Sunday is standard but if you offered a later one, eg £40 for 2 hours, we’d pay it. Don’t like that you take the money from my account before the free cancellation period expires, or that we checked out on Sunday and it’s now Thursday evening and I don’t have my damage fee refunded.

Overall enjoyed our stay

The house was in a perfect location to explore the lovely Whitby, only a 5 minute walk to town in a nice street. The house was lovely and clean with nice touches such as shower gel , soap and shampoo to use.
Really useful handbook sent over before arrival.

Clean comfortable so stylish

Nothing

Everything you need is there location is good very nice property .

.we had heating the first day second day was a bit on off so sat evening we felt cold and couldn’t get heating back on.

Nice size property with great location. Nicely decorated and all required extras (tea, coffee, hairdryer iron etc)

Whilst the property had undergone a basic clean, bed sheets, pots etc there were a number of areas that had obviously been missed, under furniture, on shelves, deep clear of bathroom areas. Heating had been turned down and radiators turned off, so the house wasn’t welcoming.

The house was very well stocked with everything you need. A nice touch would have been a small amount of wood to put fire on when we arrived.
The house was mostly clean although my little dog found an old Maltese on the floor when we first arrived and some aspects of the house were a little less clean.
The house was lovely and warm.
The bathroom had some nice touches with available pouches of shampoo, conditioner, shower gel etc.
The bath and showers were lovely with nice towels provided.
The dining table was great for getting everyone around the table.
The bedrooms were spacious and the beds were really comfortable.
A couple of walls could do with a pit of a repaint eg on the stairs is a damp patch which has stained the wall.
Previous people had put their recycling in plastic bags which meant they weren’t taken away meaning we had to take our recycling back home with us as there wasn’t any space.
Whitby is lovely and well worth a visit, lots to see and do.

Very comfortable house, plenty of space, plenty of room for 8 adults and a dog. Short walk into Whitby where there was lots to do.

Location was perfect, within walking distance of the beautiful harbour and town. There were 8 of us and the house felt spacious with plenty of room for us to all relax together in the lounge. Slight issue with the heating but it was solved really quickly as soon as we reported it. Would thoroughly recommend and great value for money given the quality of the property and its location.

Pleasant decor, large house, 5 minutes walk to Whitby shops, dog friendly, comfy bed, 2 bathrooms, large dinning table and large lounge, most of the equipment you’ll need. On street parking good in October.
Don’t forget your own shampoo & soap, extra dishwasher tabs, coffee etc

Key box fiddly - very low - have to get on floor or put your back out tapping in the numbers. There’s still an old disused key box next to it that you can end up faffing about with until you realise it isn’t that one.
Hot bath tap not working when we were there, reported so may be fixed soon, but 2 showers make good

Fab house, really clean and comfortable. Very well equipped and ideal location for exploring Whitby. Would stay again.

Had a great stay, house is large and spacious and only a few minutes walk into the town centre.

lovely house and good location.

Parking is limited.

The property is a good size with 4 bedrooms and is beautifully decorated and only a short walk from the centre of Whitby, where there are lots of things to do.

Gray Haven is a spacious family home. Tastefully decorated and within easy reach of all Whitby's amenities and within easy driving distance of local hotspots. As well as the many attractions Whitby has to offer a family ( the pirate ship tour is fab) Robin Hoods Bay is a must and so is the amazing Falling Foss and tea rooms, all within a 15 minute drive. Parking is not always possible directly outside the property but with 2 cars we always found somewhere close by to park.
The property itself is very well maintained and it was lovely for 8 of us to be able to sit at the spacious dining table together. Considering the close proximity to the center of Whitby the house was very peaceful.

Great location to get in and out of central Whitby. Easy access to the sights and plenty of things to do. House was pristine and very comfortable.
Would definitely stay again.

Spacious property. Nice decor. Good location.

Early checkout was not good as we tried to extend from 10am to 12pm and were refused. Called back after 12 and no cleaner had been. Lack of tea towels and I felt coffee, tea and sugar. should have been provided in the empty jars like our other cottage stays. Another key as we were 2 couples. Front door was not easy to lock and unlock.

Super spacious house with great facilities. The location was perfect for Whitby Town.

another bathroom would have been good but not a deal breaker.

Location was great , plenty of room for everyone.

Not enough bin bags , wasn’t a problem as we bought some but when bins were rammed and it was very hot it wasn’t good . Everything else was great

We had a lovely stay at Host & Stay’s. The accommodation was extremely central (5 minutes walk to the centre of whitby) and accommodated for 8 people and a dog. The accommodation was spacious.

The only negative was the two rooms on the third floor were a little small because of the low ceilings.

Otherwise the stay was perfect. Would recommend.

Fantastic house, with plenty of room for us all. Had everything we needed but felt it could've been cleaner in place's.
Easy to get into town, great location.

The house was very nice and in a good location. However our stay was spoiled due to the cot being hard to find (in a wardrobe on the top floor, thought they would have put it out for us as I requested one) and then not being able to find any sheets for the base of the cot. I contacted Host and Stay and they said they do not provide any linen for the cot. Totally ridiculous, it’s like not providing sheets for the bed I stayed in! I had also previously contacted them to double check that there was going to be a cot and sheets. So my baby had to sleep in the bed with me, not ideal. I wouldn’t book with this company again.

We had a lovely stay at the gray haven. The rooms were all clean and comfortable and the little extras like the toddler toile seat and step were really helpful as we had a 3 year old with us. The kitchen floor and the coffee table were a little sticky and we had to give them a clean when we arrived but everywhere else was clean and tidy and we would definitely stay again. The guide book with recommendations was also really useful. Thanks for a lovely stay.

Beautiful place in a great location - had everything we needed for a lovely family trip. So close to the centre of Whitby and an easy drive to Scarborough too!

We were worried about parking after reading previous reviews but needn’t had been as we all found spots nearby.

Really blummin nice - would recommend!

Brought our own breakfast

Side tables were sticky not cleaned properly

Fantastic stay, everything you could possibly need was provided. Lovely decor and furnishings. Great location Whitby seafront 5 mins walk away. Parking wasn't an issue we had 2 cars and always found a parking space. Would stay again if visiting Whitby again.

We had a lovely weekend in the Gray Haven. The only downsides were the steep steps in the house and steps up to the house (which werent ideal for my mum who has mobility limitations) and that finding a nearby parking soace was tricky. However, the steps issue is my fault for not clearly checking that beforehand and neither issue was a major problem.
The house was very clean, cosy, comfortable well appointed and the location was excellent. Brilliant value for money and we would definitely stay again if we weren't with my mum.

Fab little home away from home in Whitby! 5 minute walk away from the centre, so fabulous location. Clean and comfy, would recommend! We didn’t really stay in much as there are so many restaurants etc nearby, but the log burner was a great addition!

Apartment was lovely, as described. Easy to find, great location. On arrival our heating wasn’t working because the batteries in the controller had ran out. Host and Stay were slow to respond then told us to go to the shop and replace them. We did and it still didn’t work. Host & Stay didn’t respond when I asked them to send someone as we had a baby and it was very cold. Despite our best effort to reset the boiler the heating still wouldn’t work. I rang them and they said they would contact someone. I received a call back from the owner who arranged to visit us a couple of hours later, around 10.30pm. He wasn’t able to fix it but left us 2 electric radiators. Really appreciated his efforts but spent out first night wrapped in blankets. To his due, the owner came back around 9.30 on Sat morning sorted the heating sorted within an hour. I received multiple messages from Host & Stay after that, no apology or offer of compensation, just reminding us we must be out by 10am Sunday.

Great location. Well stocked. Lovely rooms and decor.

An extra toilet (downstairs) would have been useful

Immaculately clean, well equipped and in a convenient location to explore Whitby by foot. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Great place! Well equipped and easy to find! Perfect for all the family to have a relaxing break!

We had a fantastic family gathering, including two babies, in a homely and well equipped house, conveniently located for all local amenities.

A great house. Very well equipped, clean and had everything we needed. Location brilliant for exploring the local area. Parking wasn’t an issue for us at all. Would definitely stay here again.

The property looks newly renovated with quality fittings. A well stocked kitchen with complimentary tea coffee etc. the house was very clean with lovely carpets upstairs. Bedding and towels were quality and a lovely bathroom. The location is good within easy walking distance to the harbour. We had a wonderful weekend with friends in the house.

The four double bedrooms
The location

nothing

Beautiful house in an amazing location with a short walk into whitby! House was well equipped with everything you could need!

Great location and an amazing house.

Beautiful accommodation. Location perfect. Spotlessly clean. Lots of little extras milk tea, coffee pods, soap, shower gel. Were all appreciated. Comfortable beds and pillows. Fluffy clean towels. Great heating - red hot water.
There’s really nothing negative to say about the accommodation - only we wished we had booked our stay for more days ??

Nice house, near to Whitby prepare for steep walks, lots of useful facilities and interesting sights near by. A good base for town and abbey. Would recommend

Loved our stay in this beautiful house.

The location was great very near the centre.

The downstairs was dirty, all floors had to be re cleaned by myself. Very disappointing

Fantastic property in a great location - very clean and with everything you could need to stay on a self-catering property (best kitchen equipment in any Air B&B we have stayed in!) Very comfortable beds with great mattresses, lots of communal space and lovely little touches such as milk in the fridge when we arrived and DVDs and books for the evening.

Location was excellent

A pillow case didn’t look clean

We've had a fab family holidays. Location and the place are great. Worth the price. The key lock was a little stiff but the communication with the host was great. The only thing was the door was not locked on our arrival.

Lovely time with family cool and comfortable in the two hottest days of this century ?

Beautiful cosy house in a perfect location, would highly recommend

Location was a bit of a problem with it been up a bank as 2 of our party had mobile difficultys

Location could of been a bit more on the flat and near front

Excellent facilities and immaculate throughout.
Easy walk into Whitby centre.

Anyone with mobility issues may struggle with steps, as the property is set over 3 floors.

Lovely property for a sea side stay, cosy and modern. Amazingly spacious and suitable for children and families, plus pets!

Located on a steep hill climb from town with steps. Was a bit difficult with a pram and older family members.

This is a great house, on three floors and four good double bedrooms, one with en suite with a family bathroom. Good space indoors.
No space outdoors at all and tough parking on Gray Street. We managed only to get one of the cars close to the house all stay.
But….. house is well stocked with everything you need and a short walk to everything. Recommend

Lovely, well appointed house. Only stayed a couple of nights but would have been very happy to stay a week or more. Plenty of room for 8 as downstairs is spacious and there are two bathrooms. Even dogs are well catered for. Found spare lead, bowls, crate and ball chucker under stairs! Thoroughly recommend.

Great house in a central location. Clean and comfortable with everything you could need in the kitchen.

The house had everything you may need, it is very nicely decorated and very comfortable.

The house is on a very narrow street, and although there is on street parking, it can be very difficult to find a space.

A lovely big house in the heart of Whitby.

Fantastic family stay great location would go back when in Whitby

Location, cleanliness, warm, cosy, well equipped, value for money

Nothing

Really well thought out layout and provision of seating, plates etc for it hosting up to 8 people. location is absolutely perfect. Unfortunately our dog didn’t come with us in the end but there were personal touches such a bowls and treats for four legged friends.

Everything was great. Only slight comments would be a very chilly main bathroom and also we ended up covered in some sort of paint dust off the hallway walls.

The house had absolutely everything you would need and more!
A travel cot and highchair was provided for us too, which made packing much easier!
The decor is lovely and it felt homely.
The location is close to the town centre and local amenities.
We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and would recommend to others.

Beautiful home with plenty of space. It had everything we needed to celebrate Christmas. Very clean and less than a five minute walk to town.

What a fab place to stay, Located less than 5 mins walk from the centre of Whitby, parking available on street nearby to the house, such an easy check in using the lock box,
Couldn't fault the house, the kitchen was stocked well with plates, glasses, pans etc, very clean and tidy. Made our stay feel like home, We would definitely recommend and stay here again, Thank you.

Lovely home in a great location, even had parking!

The house was beautiful inside, lovely decor and really close to all the shops and sea front. They included a small milk which was a nice touch and there was tea / coffee already there (although not sure if they were left from previous guests).

The house was not cleaned to an appropriate standard. The bins hadn't been emptied and one of the ones in the bedroom had a used panty liner in it, which was not a nice discovery.
There were wet pots and pans in the kitchen drawers which had left big rust rings and puddles of water on the bottom, and they weren't particularly clean either. There was stuff left in the freezer from other people, which surprised me as it said they throw away anything that is left. There was generally just a sense of uncleanliness across the property despite them supposedly cleaning after each guest departs.

everything perfect location beautiful property

small steep I’ll just before property needs adding to details as would be an issue for people with mobility issues.

Great house just off the harbour up a slight incline.
Everything for a home from home, very quick response when we had a small problem which was attended to immediately.

parking not thd best, but managed to find one not to far away.
No outside space.

Lovely place. Very clean and comfortable. Highly recommended.

The property was very clean and well maintained. The bedrooms were large with really comfortable beds. All facilities in the house were top notch and worked well. The location of the property was excellent with just a 5 minute walk to Whitby train station. The owners of the property were also very helpful and responded to any questions we had straight away

The only potential issue was the parking situation which ultimately isn’t the fault of the owners. We managed to find a space but this could be much worse in peak season.

Great sized property, tastefully modern decor, quality interiors, comfy beds, clean, all equipment provided

There were 8 of us so could have done with a second key

door nobs need seeing to as bathroom door knob came off and needed assistance to get out. plus bedroom door knobs took ages to open.
The cleaning was not up to standard especially behind the sofa full of dust and also sticky down sides sofa also found a wooden jigsaw piece on lounge floor so not as spotless as when we first visited the property in May 2021.
Some plates and tins were dirty that was in the cupboards also microwave needed a clean

A lovely property full of character and really close to the centre of Whitby. The house was very clean and well-equipped. Parking can be a bit of a challenge but we had three cars with us and still managed to find at least one space outside the house each day with the others no more than a couple of minutes’ walk away. Whitby is such a great holiday venue and this property is ideally suited to enable you to appreciate it all.

The cottage was very nice and clean. Lots of finishing touches and felt like home from home.
Not far from the he centre of Whitby which was a bonus.

The parking was diabolical. No spaces and has to park away from the cottage. Couldn’t go out in the car all the time we were there as wouldn’t of got a parking space.

The Gray Haven was beautifully and tastefully furnished and comfortable for a large family. The cottage was extremely well equipped. The street was quiet and away from the busy areas frequented by Holiday makers.

There was very little on-street parking in the area and no garden.

Great little home from home in a quiet street.

Great location , very clean and comfortable stay .

The boiler in the room next to the bathroom was quite loud when people using the bathroom.

Great location, lovely clean house

The house was amazing! It was equipped with everything needed for a great holiday and was a home from home. The kitchen was more than adequately equipped which you don't often find in self catering accommodation. The decor was lovely and there was plenty of room to accommodate 4 adults, 2 children and a dog! Great attention to detail also with inclusion of dog crate, washing machine and dishwasher. Location was perfect with easy walking distance to all amenities and 5 mins in the car from West Cliff and the beach and the park as well as the sea front. I would say that the location is not ideal for those with mobility issues as the property, like most of Whitby, is on a very steep hill.

We have no negatives for the property but unfortunately the lack of parking was an issue. The street parking was listed as first come, first served but none of the cars on the street moved in the 6 days we were there! My parents have mobility issues so had to drop them off and park quite away from the property. Also worth noting that the property is situated within very narrow streets and its extremely hilly so not great for nervous drivers

Clean and comfortable

Parking was horrendous

Particularly liked the cleanliness and the decor. We appreciated the milk, coffee and tea. We liked it’s proximity to the centre of Whitby. It was a spacious well equipped house. Really appreciated hairdryers in every room and the full length mirrors plus over fireplace mirror. The light was good for getting ready for a wedding we were attending

Door to bathroom very stiff, and door handle to the master bedroom didn’t turn. It was maybe missing a screw. The main bathroom floor got really wet from the shower. Having to take shoes off to go upstairs. Recommend advising to bring slippers as people could also have dirty feet from the beach. A stair gate would be a good idea to separate kitchen from dining area or to stop a dog going up the stairs

Beautiful house and fab location , hosts were great and easy to contact if we needed anything but everything was perfect so didn’t have too! Would definitely stay again

The property had excellent facilities. Everything you could possibly need was provided. The property was spotless and we managed to park outside of the property. We would definitely recommend the property and we had a fabulous week in Whitby.

We made initial enquiries regarding electric charging points and made reference to the dates we were considering - following these enquiries the price substantially increased.

Everything! This is a lovely property. Makes you feel like you’re home from home and everyone I dealt with regarding anything were extremely helpful and a pleasure to converse with.

No garden

Pleasant couple of days at Whitby. The property was ideally placed to explore the locality. Very comfortable and enjoyable.

Lovely place.. Great location! Just a quick walk in to town... Plenty of room! Comfy beds!!! Netflix on tele for kids at night was a nice touch! Would deffinately stay here again x

Such a warm and cosy stay. all the family enjoyed the house and we felt right at home, especially cooking in the kitchen and chatting around the dining (Website hidden by Airbnb) were visiting for the first year memorial of my mother, but was also able to visit Goathland, where my grandmother is buried. The location is great as well, so my grandson had lots to do.

Perfect. Comfortable, cosy, great location, spotlessly clean and had everything you could need. Beautifully decorated, beds were comfy and great shower. Couldn’t fault it.

So comfortable and stylish. A central but also quiet base for a great stay in Whitby, which we fell in love with!

Would highly recommend the Gray Haven, a lovely big terrace house in central Whitby very clean and stylish! The hosts left us milk, welcome cookies and a bottle of fizz for the new year! Fully equipped kitchen and everything you need! Would definitely stay again!

We really enjoyed our stay at the grey haven. It was very clean and well kept, it had everything we needed and was a wonderful home from home. We highly recommend staying here and will be returning soon!

This is a lovely property, incredibly snug, comfortable and meticulously clean ! Lots of attention to detail and beautiful personal touches. Location is superb too. No issues with parking and a bucket full of local amenities.

lovely, stylish space, great location in Whitby and the hosts provided a plethora of information to make the most of our stay.

Excellent property all brand new high quality furnishings

Thank you so much for making our stay wonderful and so homely. The place had a recently refurbished feel to it and loved the warm feeling it gave.

Also loved the little personal details like the dog treats and posh coffee machine and pods. Especially the cookies and Jam on arrival with the welcome booklet.

The only suggestion I would make as a partially sighted person would be to make the outside steps more noticeable with either step lights or strips (like painted yellow/white strips on the edges of the steps or similar) so it’s easier to see the depth. Almost had a bit of a tumble but was averted thankfully.

Will deffo book this property again in the future.

Thanks again
X

Great house, newly refurbished. we were welcomed with all we could need for our stay and a few nice extra touches. very clean and tidy we all felt at home. parking is busy, but none of us were far away. top marks

Good place to stay, close to whitby centre and a clean, nice house. Bit frustrated at being allowed to book for one night and being told it would be cancelled as a 2 night minimum applied, which we've been told is now resolved.
