Had a lovely 2 night stay here! The host was very responsive for any questions we had and instructions were clear and helpful. Location was spot on, close to most things all around 10 minute walk! Car park was round the corner and around £10 for 24 hours. The apartment itself was very spacious and would definitely visit again!

The apartment itself is quite impressive with a good view of the Abbey. If you need a socket to plug something in they really went to town with over 20 in the property.

Whilst the apartment is nice with a good view the windows are filthy and the decor and carpet needs a re-vamp. The property is located in a shabby side street and once you've unlocked the key safe the front door leads to a cramped, steep staircase that smells damp and musty. When you reach the apartment and yet more stairs the carpet inside is a light fawn colour and not compatible with dirty feet and there's no mat to wipe them on. The property is modern with black taps with indistinguishable heat settings which didn't really matter as there was no hot water.! The host had assured us we would be provided with scratch parking cards for the duration of our stay but there was none left on display on our arrival. We did eventually find some in a drawer but our eureka moment was short lived when we realised they were 3 years out of date.! The WiFi also wouldn't connect and we were eventually given a new password completely different from the one left by the router. The host, Charlie assured us over many emails that he would sort out the tickets and the hot water. In the meantime we could only park within certain hours near the property. The tickets never came and despite using a local car park I did pick up a parking ticket when I thought I was ok because the sign said 3hrs no return in 2 but you still needed a card or a disc. I hadn't been happy with the insurance the property had billed me for and now I had a fine.! The hot water was fixed on our second day. The host promised to refund £20 to my card for the inconvenience.... I'm still waiting. This was a stressful 3 days and my wife was annoyed I spent so much time sending emails to Charlie and not enjoying our anniversary. I wouldn't recommend this property if you've got a car and you don't like stairs. Whitby was great, host&stay were not.

Me and my wife stayed here for 3 nights, it was a loft apartment so quiet a few stairs but once inside the view was amazing.
The apartment was clean and comfortable modern bathroom and kitchen.
All in all a great few days away right in the heart of Whitby we will be back .

The location was great: close to all that Whitby has to offer, including the beach which is dog friendly for 7 months of the year. It was very quiet, apart from the seagulls in the early hours. The parking permit was very welcome as we could leave the car just a short way up the street.

The shared entrance is looking a tad unwelcoming.

Beautiful view and location. Cheap enough.

Decor is nice but really needs touching up - paint peeling off walls and carpets covered in stains, could do with a refresh. Blankets/throw pillows need cleaning. Had to repressurise the boiler ourselves as we were without heating/hot water for half of our stay. Bathroom light goes off every 90 seconds when you’re in the shower because it’s on a timer which drove us a bit crazy.

At a glance the property is well decorated, but does require a lot of maintenance which is a shame as they were really simple fixes. E.g. holes had been filled but not sanded and painted, painting peeling in main bedroom, broken furniture. I only express these as we paid for the damage cover on the property but felt like if we did make any damage it wouldn’t have been noticeable due to the amount of damage already.
I think the property has a lot of potential and is in a perfect location with amazing view, but the overall price with the hidden fees was a little high especially in the low season

The loft was a wonderful place to stay. Skinner street was a great location with privacy but also plenty to do.
The loft was really well equipped for a few days away and had beautiful views as was read in the description.
The decor was stunning and was just up our street. The windows in the loft provided lovely ventilation.
The loft is EXCELLENT value for money and I’d stay here again in a heart beat.
The hosts should be extremely proud of this air B&B and we’d like to thank them for a lovely stay.

As the cleaning was sub standard I feel the charge for cleaning was over priced. There’s lots of accommodation in Whitby therefore a lot of competition so these standards should be top notch, the furniture & soft furnishings is the wrong choice for multi guests staying. The bedroom needs repainting & all the carpets need a deep clean/replaced. Sofa is stained, pouffe is stained, rug is stained, cushions are stained as is the carpet. It is however a beautiful apartment, just needs some TLC, however as along as guests are prepared to pay the price then I don’t imagine that there will be any significant changes made

Overall, we enjoyed our stay at The Loft. The views over Whitby are stunning, and the apartment is lovely - well equipped and decorated nicely. The host’s communication was fantastic, and they were responsive prior and during our stay. The location is spot on - so easy to access the town and beach, and is surrounded by great cafes, restaurants and pubs.
I would have given 5 stars, however, the cleanliness of the apartment let it down. Upon check-in, this included:
- Heavily stained carpet on the stairs and rug in the living room
- The furniture and surfaces (TV stand, bedside tables, bathroom unit, toaster) haven’t been polished for a while, as they were covered a thick layer of dust
- There was a large clump of hair in the shower grid
- Kitchen cupboards were covered in greasy marks and water stains.
All of this is so rectifiable, and would recommend this be looked into. I’d also suggest providing a hoover & putting a permanent light in the bathroom over the sensor one ?

Lack of communication from Host & Stay resulted in us not even staying there. We didn’t receive any check in instructions,
I had to chase them, waited for an hour then finally got the instructions. Got into the accommodation to find it was filthy and had not been cleaned since the last check out. I then had to call them again only to be left on hold, the call centre dealing with it did not seem to know what to do, said they’d call me back once a cleaner had been round, but that never happened. I tried to call back to find out what was going on but was left on hold again, wasted over 3 hours of my time trying to sort out their problem. In the end we had to book alternative accommodation, was not the start to our break away that we wanted and how Host and Stay dealt with the matter was very poor.
Airbnb was very helpful with the refund. The ‘damage deposit’ taken directly from host and stay has taken much longer to refundand the fact they charged a £10 fee for the deposit is outrageous

Didn’t have the cot and high chair as advertised. But provided one once we got in touch.

Great location and view of the abbey

Probably needs some tlc but still a nice place to stay

Great place! Amazing views and great decor, everywhere is within walking distance. It is worth noting that getting up to the room requires several flights of stairs (which I personally didn’t find a problem with, but it’s not something I was aware of beforehand). Overall, highly recommend!

I know air bnbs are not there to provide all your provisions for a stay but two teabags for a three night stay was a little tight in my opinion. We were also only provided with two dishwasher tablets, I want expecting a whole box but one per day would have been welcomed.
Also be aware an email a day before check out said check out time midday but on morning of check out were told it was 10.00hrs. You would think they would get this information correct, luckily we were up early enough that we were out for 10 but could have been charged extra if we hadn’t been.
Nice view from the flat however, decor a little tired but clean enough and actually the sofa in the lounge is cleaned by properly as was still a little damp on check in.
Fantastic location right in the heart of Whitby.

beautiful property with everything near by, felt like our own little home for the weekend. I will definitely come back.

states on booking that checkout is 10 but the emails received from host & stay stated 12. we were delighted about the 12 checkout as i had a late flight home but decided to triple check - we were told nope, it’s 10…then received another email about 12.

We would of really appreciated the later checkout as it had been raining that day & there was nowhere to leave our bags so had to lug those around for the day.

Be warned. Once your booking is made you then have to pay a large deposit of which the host keeps 10% of. The flat was nice, clean and well situated.

Perfect place to stay right where you’d wanna be in whitby on the backstreets near everything but can easily escape place was a gothic dreammmm

Location and View

Starting to look a little tired on the inside and the communal area wasn't too inviting either. Needs a bit of TLC.

The location was great! It was perfect for a couple.

There were no tea bags and no milk on arrival, we are British, it’s what we do when we get somewhere ?

We have just returned from our annual break in Whitby
The loft was absolutely perfect!! Beautifully decorated, gorgeous view from the living room windows and a good location for exploring Whitby
Skinner street has a lovely Gin bar, bakery and cafes

We stayed for a weekend in February. The location and view are amazing and the kitchen and bedroom are designed really nicely. Unfortunately, the TV had evidently factory reset and was logged out of Amazon so we couldn't use it. We reported it but found the customer service not very helpful. The light timer in the bathroom is annoyingly short if you want to have an evening shower. The flat lacked essential cooking items such as a colander and no cleaning products except the dish-washer, so we had to buy our own.
Overall a great stay but a few improvements could have made it even better!

Great communication throughout our stay the loft certainly has the wow factor, spotlessly clean (apart from stain on carpet as we came in) and looked exactly like the photos, great location and really peaceful. Parking wasn't an issue for us and being able to pay via apps was a bonus we could just top up when we needed to. Agree with others about the bathroom light being on a sensor/timer was a pain it going off when in the shower at night but we worked around it. Overall loved our stay there and would highly recommend host and stay they where always on hand if we needed anything

Lovely location, I’d agree with the other reviews that the bathroom light timer is a bit annoying! It goes off every two minutes and leaves you in the dark. Few stains on the carpets and scuffed walls. Same goes for broken toilet seat other people have reviewed, easy fix.
Other than that, which I arrived already expecting, everything was great. One thing I’d say is beware of the complimentary parking scratchcards if they leave you them! They aren’t valid for the council pay and display car parks that the host also recommends (??) which cost me £100 in parking tickets - which wasn’t great!

View from the window was lovely.

We had to ring the host and stay number as they hadn’t sent through the code for the key code. When we booked through booking.com it was fine. Separately we had to pay a damage disclaimer to hostandstay. Why? Genius was pointless as it cost more.
When we got into the property it was filthy. We do have photos. Spider webs in the corner. Surfaces wiped but still not clean. We paid a cleaning fee for when we left but it was disgusting when we arrived. We left it cleaner than when we arrived.
When having a shower the bathroom light was on a timer. 2 minutes in the shower at night and the light went off. We had to shout each other to turn the light back on. Never ever had that anywhere we’ve stayed around the world.
If we ever book with you again and it comes up as a hostandstay property we will not be booking it. Absolutely ridiculous to pay what we did and get charged extra after. I’ve downloaded the hotel.com app and will be looking at sites like triviago from now on if this is the kind of places you promote. So so so disappointed.
Oh and the toilet set was loose and you took your life in your hands sitting on it .
Not good

The location of the apartment is ideal, view of the abbey and view of the sea and some lovely places to eat and drink on Skinner street. The interior of the apartment is also very stylish.

The apartment could do with more of a deep clean. Huge cobwebs in the bedroom. Layers of dust on the beams. This is not a big job so it would be good to see it completed. Two tea bags and two coffee capsules. (One of which had already been used) is not very substantial. As was one shower gel and one shampoo.

Rebecca M.

Great location, super views and that’s where it stops. Faulty bathroom light intermittently turns on and off, thick dust and cobwebs on beams, VERY limited kitchen equipment, no toilet brush, stains on carpets, rugs and sofa needs a lick of paint to cover scuffs to make it look more appealing

I liked the position of the property

I found the property not very well kitted out as kitchen wise. One of the saucepans had food burnt on to the bottom of it. Also in the cupboard l cut my finger on a broken item (think it was a vase)

Jill E.

The property could be excellent but the the cleanliness and upkeep is poor. It looks like it needs decorating and some maintenance is needed. There was no cooking equipment and limited cutlery. We have enjoyed our stay but feel let down by the upkeep of the property

Nice flat in a great location

The loft is beautiful, a great space in a reallt convenient location. The parking arrangements suited us well and the flexible check in was easy. The apartment is really tastefully decorated with amazing views.
There were a couple of small issues like dusty surfaces, marked carpets and paint missing, which could be easily fixed. The apartment would be outstanding if these were resolved.
The bathroom light is automatic and switches off after only a few seconds on non movement. It does not recognise movement while you're in the shower so we found ourselves showering in the dark or with the door open and bedroom light on. I did message the host twice but didn't receive a reply which was disappointing. I could have rang the number, but we left early each day and were on the beach with no signal until dark.
Overall we were really happy, would stay again and would recommend to other people.

The Loft was exactly as described, ideally located for pubs & cafes and less than 10 minute walk to the harbour & sea front. Parking is the only slight challenge, hosts provide a parking permit but we found it easier to pay for the car park around the corner. In peak season this might not be so easy.
Facilities in the apartment all good.

Apartment was lovely but do agree with some previous reviews, it could have been less dusty/lots of cobwebs, and whilst we did take our dog, there was evidence of another pet having been with black pet hairs on the furniture even though they ask for pets not be on furniture. Perfect location with a beautiful view of the abbey from the arched window, parking is available very close by, and would visit again happily, perfect place for a weekend away.

Great location. Very central. Fantastic views.

Had a brilliant weekend away for partners 25th birthday. He absolutely loved the apartment, especially the view!! Would 100% recommend and will definitely be coming back soon!

Great location with great views of the abbey , maybe the carpets and settee could do with a shampoo clean and the decor could do with a freshen up but that would in no way out is off staying there again
It was our first time staying in an apartment and it’s definitely something we’d do again .
Host’s were very responsive and couldn’t do enough to be help with any question or queries

Fabulous views, lovely appartment.

The bathroom light goes off when your in the shower. As I think it’s on a sensor.

Bedroom paint work was tatty, very dusty with broken bedside lamp shade.
Living room carpet & sofa were stained with hair on the mat, not mine.
Spat out chewing gum in the kitchen bin was a nice touch, left it there & used spare bin liner.

Could not use dishwasher as door would not shut. Contacted customer service at 4pm on Friday. Was told she would contact
maintenance & phone me back which she never did. Contacted again on the Saturday morning, was told that there was no record of my previous call but would look into it.
She called me back to ask what the make & model of the dishwasher was.
Waited in all day to no avail & eventually called again at 4pm Saturday to be told by a very pleasant young man that there was maintenance available at weekends unless there was an an emergency.
I therefore wasted 24 hrs of my holiday as if the 2 people I initially spoke to had told me this I would not have stayed in waiting to re
To say this was annoying is an understatement & I look forward to receiving a reply from you very soon
Thank you

Apartment was lovely decorated, ideal location and very comfortable. I agree with a couple of the reviews that it’s a bit tired round the edges but overall it was clean comfortable and lovely decor.

Excellent location close to harbour. Home from home very comfortable. Fantastic views of the abbey.

Superb accommodation, very modern, everything in the property could need for a stay, great location definitely will be returning

Nothing, except a little pricy for a 2 night stay but the going rate really

Lovely place to stay! I’m walking distance from the whale bones, the sea front, the park and lovely cafes. The most stunning featured is the arch window where you have the view of the sea and abbey. Highly recommend when visiting Whitby!

This is a lovely little apartment let down by Host and Stay.
Firstly the unexpected damage waiver / deposit should be advertised or inc in the price on Airbnb
Secondly the payment system failed to take payment and H&S didn’t provide any a check in details. A few hours before I was due to arrive with a baby. I had to call them.
They wanted me to pay on my phone when I was driving. Had I not called in office hours I would have not been able to enter the property.
Finally the nice little appt. Was filthy. The shower had hair in it and used shampoo sachets left from prev guests. Toothpaste marks all over the bathroom cabinet, food and spill on the floor, rug was full of dirt and stains. Dust everywhere, dirty marks on all walls. Like snot. The toilet seat had dried urine on it.
We reported it and got told ‘we’ll let house keeping know’ then a message at end telling us to clean and tidy the appt before leaving!
Would not recommend H&S

Modern property , perfectly placed to reach heart of Whitby. Very comfy bed and hot shower. The view form the apartment window was beautiful

3 flights of stairs to get into apartment so bear this mind . Parking isn’t a major issue but again bear this mind of planning on carrying lots of luggage as you will have to walk from car .

Lovely place to stay in a good location. Decorated really nicely but a little rough around the edges and there was food on the living room floor. Everywhere was visibly dusty. However I understand it must be a popular place to stay with Whitby being busy.
Also bad communication about checking out time. Two bits of info say check out was 12pm but it was actually 10am.
Overall I enjoyed my stay, just need a little attention to cleaning and accurate info

Comfortable one bedroom flat, quiet location close to center.

We had a lovely few days staying in The Loft, the navy blue bedroom is a very relaxing space and the living/room kitchen area is a lovely open space that's pleasant and airy. It has an amazing view over the rooftops and looking out over Whitby Abbey. Would 100% recommend for a couples stay with everything you need in walking distance of The Loft.

If you're looking for a unique stay in Whitby, I recommend this accommodation. The views of the abbey and ocean are undeniable and in my opinion what make this place stand out. The location was excellent, being situated not too far from the main high street, and close to some of the best breakfast places. The added parking pass was appreciated, though we had a hard time finding parking with the "W" zones. The shower was incredible too.
As other reviews on here state though, it is the attention to cleanliness that could be improved. There was dust and cobwebs in the bedroom, peeling wallpaper, and the bathroom sink was clogged. I am used to staying in hostels so I am not picky when it comes to cleanliness, however when I am paying $460 CAD for 2 nights, this needs to be set at a high standard. The £25 deposit was also unexpected and unclear if that's being refunded.
Overall, was happy to have stayed here for the views and location. But was disappointed at the lack of cleanliness.

Was a brilliant week away apartment is lovely and in a great location. All of us loved it and would stay again

Lovely place to stay in the heart of Whitby! Would definitely stay again.

Well decorated, lovely space, great views

Let down by the standard of cleaning

Nice and spacey

Not as clean as we thought.

Hi,
I took my mum to Whitby for two nights and the place was just perfect! The view from the living room is stunning and everything is in close distance to walk. But the apartment is slightly off the main seafront which is nice and quiet.
Definitely would go back there if I go back to Whitby!
Thanks

Great location. Views were amazing over the Abbey and roof tops. Great property, but……
Stains on the carpet, not cleaned very well, maintained “ok,” had to buy a frying pan as none provided.
Bathroom light is on a sensor, so if you showered in the morning, you did it in the dark.
I would recommend, but it’s the attention to detail.

My stay at this loft was great. The flat was sparkling and the host communicated efficiently. I had a bit of a complaint when in my last day but they were amazing at resolving it and the customer service was phenomenal. Could not recommend more.

Location and views

Stairs and lack of cooking equipment

There will be an additional charge for damage insurance etc which should’ve been mentioned at the first place. Apart from that, the apartment is dusty, although we love the aesthetics and window view of the flat.

modern and spacious

the bathroom door was really hard to open and close

amazing views and lovely decor. you can see the sea and the abbey from the living room window.

No parking permit

The location and the view. Spacious airy living room, amazing kitchen facilities. Quiet, peaceful bedroom. Parking was easy

The bathroom door was difficult to manoeuvre. Ended up leaving it open wide enough to squeeze through, and the other person going to the sitting room while we used the toilet.
Door lock to the Loft itself was unpredictable.

Good Location

Needs some TLC

Really lovely property in the centre of things, the view was stunning and the kitchen had everything's we needed and was nice to cook in. We had a mix up with the parking pass and host and stay worked with us to sort it out in a quick and friendly way.
One note, the ensuite is right on top of the bedroom, so if you're not completely comfortable with the person you're staying with hearing your bathroom activities then I'd take this into consideration.
We'd absolutely stay here again.

the location and view from window

the fact we had to pay in full when booking and then week before we were told we needed to pay insurance of £25 non refundable and also the sliding bathroom door was broken we couldn’t open or shut it and they meant that the bathroom light kept coming on and off all night waking us up, when we reported it they said they couldn’t get anyone there until Monday so wasn’t brilliant for us on Saturday and Sunday night we left Monday so not sure if the fault has bern resolved. bad service.

The location was great, and the view from the top window is amazing. It’s a really cosy space, especially in the evening.

This property has so much potential, but some of the small details that make a big difference have been missed. The high wooden beams hadn’t been dusted, and the cream rug in the living room is grubby. There are photo frames on the wall without pictures in them- with these things attended to, it could be a perfect space.

The Loft is a very nice place to stay in Whitby. It’s in a great location and very close to the seafront. The accommodation itself was well presented and quiet. The view from the living room window is lovely as you can see the abbey and church. Everything was as described and the hosts were very responsive when I had questions. The parking scratch card ticket was easy to use and very helpful. I would stay here again.

lovely view of the Abbey

Great location and view from the property, it was let down by the generally cleanliness of the apartment, with visible cobwebs, a good amount of dust and dirt.
With a deep clean and a little more thought for homeliness this would be a great stay and one that would bring us back.

location & the view!

the stairs but they kept us fit!

Fantastic apartment for a good price in beautiful Whitby! Will definitely be booking again. Can’t find any fault.

The only thing I would say was it was a rush to check out for 10am, would be nice to have another hour on check out.

Amazing location. Second time staying

Good location and clear check in instructions.

Annoying sliding bathroom door and auto bathroom light that kept turning on automatically through the night.

Living room on the cold side and bedroom hotter than the sun when you could get it to turn on.

oil the doors - they creak terribly but all teething problems I guess

it’s location excellent views very comfortable good facilities

Dusty beams a few cobwebs

Amazing views from the arched window with views of the abbey and all windows around the loft property were exceptional! Modern layout and furnishings and equipped with most things you would need for a break away. It is worth staying for views of the estuary, harbour and cliff tops and felt a real treat to be spoilt with that view.

Pillows/bedding could have been comfier and cosier furnishings and towels which I imagine over time the hosts would invest in. Mainly I think the whole apartment needs a regular dust and deep clean and invest in a guest Hoover as guests with dogs like to hoover up after themselves and every self catering property we have stayed at throughout the UK has always had a Hoover. Whoever is in charge of the amount of emails needs to reconsider the communications as I don’t want to be pestered as often as the emails came and just to emphasise we really enjoyed our hassle free beautiful view stay of the apartment, but again if the hosts read this, thorough and better cleaning needs to be implemented as your apartment isn’t being showcased to its absolute best!

The apartment was easy to find with local parking permits which came in helpful, it was just as the pictures showed and was very clean. It’s a great location for Whitby town with many nice restaurants and things to do in walking distance
Would stay again

Had a great stay at this property perfect location in whitby .it was clean and smart .Only have one negative thing to say about the apartment and that is the sofa which looked nice but my wife and I both suffer from bad backs and I have to say its the most uncomfortable sofa I have sat on and it's the only one In the apartment .Everywhere was clean and the rainfall shower was great .Wouldn't book again just because of the sofa

Beautiful place, modern and beautiful views. The owners had done a very good job renovating, the style was modern but not boring.

There were a few area that weren't quite finished off which in such a beautiful place was a shame. Eg where the doors had been shaved the edge was still unfinished, pictures frames with no picture and marks on the walls. Generally it was very clean but cobwebs were starting to form on the beams and the bedside tablet was dusty. What did annoy me was all the emails with rules, it made me worry instead of being able to relax. I understand not everyone treats places with the respect they should but should everyone be punished? Also a lot of the automated email were badly timed and didn't make sense.

Good value for money. Good location and facilities with a stylish flare. Great for longevity or short stays. Would stay here again.?? Would recommend bringing your own expresso pods as there were none complimentary to go with the coffee machine.

Lovely place with an incredible view. Great value and a short walk into the town centre. Plenty of options for food and entertainment close by.

We had an excellent weekend in Whitby. The view from the Loft is fabulous and the apartment was spacious for two and nicely warm!

Lovely place. Great location. Stunning view of the abbey

Great location in the centre of town. Good size kitchen/ living room with an excellent view of the Abbey. I would recommend this property to my friends. The Yorkshire coast is awesome with so many places to walk and Whitby for entertainment and food.

Great apartment and really good location for staying in Whitby

Location
Layout
Fresh air
View

Sensor light for bathroom won’t activate if your in the shower…. just revert to manual switch
Mirror offset from basin sink and no real direct light onto it
Extra lights needed in kitchen
Perhaps Owner/ booking office could be on WhatsApp as well so as to offer wifi phone call option

Great location. Quiet. Clean. Good communication. Parking tricky - permit provided for 'W' zones (this entitles overnight street parking and then up to 3hrs between 9am & 7pm. Ask for T&C's of insurance damage deposit prior to booking so you can read up. It takes 14 days after checkout before your money is refunded if you opt to pay the £250. (And there is a £10 admin fee which is non-refundable which all adds to the cost of the stay).

Lovely, very comfortable apartment in an excellent location withfantastic views of the abbey.

Lovely loft amazing views little bit tricky to find!

we really enjoyed our stay and will book again

Lovely Aparment, close to everything

Amazing views from a comfy room

Great location, well stocked and clean apartment.
Parking was quite busy, but there are 1 hour bays on the main road

Loved it here. Will be back

location perfect, super clean . great communication. property is beautiful..amazing views across the harbour of the abbey . near all the best shops ,restaurants and bars.. if you get the opportunity definitely book this one. we were lucky and hope to be again

Really cracking little spot in a great location near central Whitby. Only a short walk to the harbour area. Some nice cafes for breakfast right at the door. The parking permits were a godsend with the heavily patrolled permit controlled street parking.

Was quite a lot of steps up to The Loft so wouldn’t be ideal for with mobility issues. All of which was stated in the listing.

Thanks for a lovely stay.

Location was ok... easy to get to centre of town...shower was brilliant beds was comfortable...

Amount of stairs

Great stay at the Loft in Whitby. Plenty of bars and restaurants.

We liked the location, and the flat was very comfortable.Great view from the sitting room window. The flat was as described and we were happy to stay there and would book again

The kitchen needed more equipment as it was very basic

The location and views were excellent. We stayed for our wedding and it was a great base for everything we needed to do in Whitby. The place was well equipped and comfortable. There was a nice kitchen area with everything you need. They'd left 4 days of parking tickets out for us (which unfortunately we only spotted when leaving).

We got lots of automated emails about 'verifying our identity' which were a bit confusing (as we'd verified ourselves upon booking). We also got multiple emails about the check out process even a few days after leaving.

Modern, great location, clean, great view of the Abbey from the living room

the bathroom door didn’t close properly, neither the shower door

Beautiful apartment, well located with picturesque views.

The stairs were a bit claustrophobic and steep but the apartment more than made up for it.

What a great place in such a good location! I was working but lovely place for a break too.

Great apartment, very cosy, was given a guide book that was very helpful and in a great location, not far from local shops and the beach. Enjoyed my stay and would recommend.

Nice place, location is perfect for being directly in Whitby. Not the places fault but at it is in the loft the seagulls are very loud throughout the night so might not be good for light sleepers! Definitely cleaned but carpet is very light and marked a lot so has a feeling of being unclean on the floors. Would recommend for location.

Lovely loft apartment in a great location with everything you could want. We loved it and wouldn’t hesitate to go back… or recommend to anyone who asked.

Lovely apartment with gorgeous views over whitby and the sea. Well equipped with everything you need and looks just like in the photos.

Lovely apartment with great facilities and views of the Abbey and sea. Great central location

Couldn’t fault the room at all and cannot recommend this room enough. Check-in was very easy with very clear instructions which were sent in time for arrival. The decor is beautiful, modern and gorgeous colour schemes. Also, the apartment was pristine. The view from the living room overlooks Whitby Abbey which was out of this world. We felt so lucky and will be definitely be back soon. I’m going to be harping on to my friends and family to visit Whitby just to stay in the apartment! Thank you so much ??

Stylish place in a perfect location. Would 110% recommend and will use again when / if we return to Whitby for a stay. Thank you

Excellent location, comfy place to stay for a weekend break for two. Really excellent views of abbey and sea, but that means climbing up all the stairs to get to the flat! I'd stay here again.

the communication was second to none and enabled a smooth stay. the accommodation was fantastic in a great location and with great views.

Fantastic location with beautiful views from the loft windows. No issues accessing the property with very straight forward instructions. A lovely stay.

lovely property with a cracking view, very comfortable. like previous reviews the light in the bathroom can go off whilst in the shower, but it’s a minor detail really.

quite a few stairs up to the property, but the clues in the name really…..the loft…..didn’t bother us but might others

Very nice flat, very central and beautiful view over Whitby. We would absolutely stay there again.

Good location. Wonderful view of the Abbey.
Clean bedding and towels.
Great shower
Comfortable bed
Well equipped
Easy parking

Beautiful apartment in a very good location with a sea and Abbey views from the lounge. Highly recommended for couples looking for a few days away in fabulous Whitby.

Beautiful Loft Apartment in the heart of Whitby with easy access to all destinations. The apartment was well decorated and felt much larger than what the pictures showed. I would highly recommend to anyone considering a cosy little break away.

Great apartment with a perfect location, the view from the window is fantastic! Nice and clean and also the documentation and clear and helpful.

The property could be beautiful had it of been clean, it was absolutely filthy.

Hard to find in the dark, entrance hall filthy, big pile of junk outside the door, cream carpet in apartment filthy muddy foot prints, scuffs up the walls, what looked like urine stains on landing and all over the lounge rug, stains on the sofa, thick thick dust everywhere, dirty fridge, dirty oven, hob had dog hairs on it, cupboards covered in greasy finger prints, cobwebs stretching from beam to beam. cutlery kettle and microwave dirty. 2nd apartment -one the Hudson very similar although slightly cleaner but still lots of dirty finger prints on walls, filthy hallway, crumbs on floor tatty fixtures and fittings - dangerous shower no temperature control oh and a boiler that bangs all night and wakes you up even from the second bedroom !

lovey little apartment in a great location . The lounge kitchen area was quite cool even though radiators had been on all day but it was only 3c outside . There was a fair bit of dust about on rafters etc but when we contacted host & stay they offered to rectify this immediately.

Lovely living/kitchen area. Comfy bed and pleasant bedroom. Fantastic views. Clean and tidy.

Hallway entrance smelt very damp and not easy to negotiate with cases.

Perfect location. Fab interior style. cosy.

The place needs a deep clean. Carpets were dirty and most surfaces were dusty.

Decor was lovely, had everything you need for your stay. Very clean . Great location.

Stairs are quite steep but that means you get a great view.

Great space, great views - luxury look and feel

Toilet not cleaned, not been dusted in weeks

The view and finish of the apartment. Felt secure and quiet but in a good location.

The lobby ceiling was leaking during the rain meaning the carpet/doorway was soaking which then led to a cream carpet in the apartment with no mat to clean shoes

A beautiful flat in an ideal location. Loved it.

location

fusty smell in stair wells and we had a towel with black marks on it so didn’t look clean

The view from the main room over the town to the ruined abbey is spectacular. The apartment is nicely renovated in a modern style. It is a comfortable place to spend a short break with many shops, cafes and restaurants very close by.

Just nitpicking, but maybe a couple of hooks for towels? A few extra cushions for the sofa?

The decor and location were faultless. It is clear that a lot has been invested in this property. It is modern, spacious, clean and has everything you would need for a quick getaway or long stay. The apartment had everything from a hairdryer to a washing machine and all the mod cons in between. Absolutely a pleasure to stay here. Pet friendly was a lovely touch, we took our two small dogs and they felt right at home too. You would never know any dogs had ever stayed there as the place was immaculate. The hosts were amazing, although we never met as we never needed anything, the messages prior to our arrival gave us all the info we needed and regular check ins through the tablet provided were a nice touch. They provided parking scratch-cards which were again, a lovely touch as we would have been circling around for ages trying to find somewhere to park the car.

If I were being harsh, I would have to mention the entrance hall. As you open the door from Routh Walk there is no room to manoeuvre around the doorway before being greeted by the stairs and a strong damp smell. This wasn’t a problem for us when we had just nipped out but it was quite hard to manoeuvre two dogs, two suitcases and a ridiculously oversized dog bed when arriving and leaving for the first and final time. While I appreciate you can’t change the size of the entrance hall, it’s something for other guests to consider, especially those with a lot of luggage or those not so agile on their feet as there are a lot of steps. There is quite a lot of mould on the ceiling in the entrance hallway which does smell quite strong, however, in the apartment you would never know it was there. Merely an observation more than a criticism.

Great spot and location, would recommend to anyone heading to Whitby

A very well designed apartment with a spectacular view over Whitby and of the Abbey. The kitchen was well equipped and easy to cook in. The navy walls in the bedroom were great for creating a cosy environment. One thing, however, was that the bathroom was at the end of the bed and the bathroom light was motion activated (which we couldn’t find anything to override!)… in the middle of the night, every night, multiple times the light would switch on, waking us up and making my partner paranoid that there were ghosts… the light also meant that when you were in the shower the light would switch off half way through as you are out of range of the motion sensor. The bathroom light really was the only problem we had!
Location was great and views from the window are some of the best anywhere in Whitby.

Gorgeous place I’m a fab location.with lovely views & a very comfy bed!

Amazing views and great location. Very central and close to train station, beach and bars/cafes. The place is perfect for a romantic weekend away.

All facilities were excellent, high quality fixtures and fittings, very clean, very modern, everything you needed to enjoy your stay, nothing was cheap or shabby, everything was of high quality throughout

Everything was excellent

Nice bed

On entry to the building carpet very dirty. Bathroom door got stuck. Windows very dirty.

Lovely apartment very stylish and clean

The bathroom door needs some attention but apart from that was excellent

Lovely space to stay. Super clean too!

This apartment was really lovely. Lovely views of Whitby Abbey. The communication was amazing and they even popped up some birthday banners that i’d sent through the post which made it that little bit more special.

Absolutely loved our stay here! Super clean and really liked the decor. Excellent location with lots of nice cafes and bars right on our doorstep. The amazing views over the abbey and harbour were a bonus!

The condition of the main street entrance doesn't do the apartment justice at all, and it's definitely not suitable for anyone that might struggle with stairs!

Perfect location with great views, bed was big and comfy and the apartment was stylish and clean, would definitely stay again

The bathroom door was a sliding one and it kept getting stuck. We spent up to 5 mins some times trying to get in or out of the bathroom which was a bit inconvenient.

Everything. The location, the view, the facilities, the comfort, the decor, the furniture. Everything!

Loved this place!

The Loft is a truly lovely place to stay. It is beautifully decorated, very comfortable with all (very) mod cons and is in the centre of town.

Amazing location, beautiful views, lovely interior! Loved absolutely everything about it! Would 100% recommend!

Beautiful apartment, in a fantastic location, with stunning views.

Thanks so much for a wonderful stay. The apartment is gorgeous and in a great location, everything was spotless, check in was easy, communication was great – and the view onto the Abbey is stunning. Thank you!

The Loft is in a good location in Whitby near to the harbour and with wonderful views of the Abbey from the window. Parking nearby is difficult though even with the residents parking permit provided it isn't usually possible to get a space in the streets covered by the permit nearby. We found John Street was the best bet but sometimes had to pay to park in a pay and display car park, again not that close to the apartment. The only niggles we had were that there were no coat hangers provided to hang your clothes on the rail in the bedroom, there is nowhere to hang your towel when your showering and the movement activated bathroom light keeps going off while you're in the shower requiring you to keep opening the door to switch the light back on. Also there is nowhere to hang your wet coats.

Home Truths

Free parking is provided but this will be a few moments from the property.

As the apartment is located on the top floor, there are three flights of stairs to climb.

The Loft @ Skinner St doesn't have a dining area but it does have a modern breakfast bar.
