I liked the location, I really like the apartment. Had a great stay would definitely come back.

The sofa was a little uncomfortable. But apart from that everything else was fine.

Very nice apartment, open plan and spacious.
Two decent sized bedrooms spaced well apart.

Being hit for insurance 9 days before arrival. This should have been mentioned when paying for apartment months earlier.

The lock doesn't work properly. And there's hair on the pillows. The boiler is switched off,and I didn't know it takes time to heat up for hot water.

Modern and good equipment Flat in a very good location.

This was a lovely three day break in Whitby. The accommodation was ideal for what we needed. Comfortable, spacious, and it had what we needed for the time we were there. Ideal for kids and families as it’s right next to the beach and main centre, but also quiet. Parking is a nightmare! We were promised a couple of free parking passes on arrival but this wasn’t the case. It took a couple of hours to sort that out and find parking before we were able to settle. Something we could have done without after a long journey. It was eventually sorted. We also discovered the following day that there was no hot water either, but managed to find the emersion heater.. but it didn’t warm up until the following day! Cold showers for the day unfortunately. And although we didn’t need it, the apartment didn’t have a freezer, just for
people to note for anybody who is looking to stay for any longer than us. Apart from these minor points, a nice location and ample place to stay for a short family break

We stayed for 2 nights with our baby and dogs. We all had a lovely time, great location, easy access to the property and no issue during stay. Thanks a lot :)

I received an email giving the location of the lock box, the code and a telephone number if needed.
It was easy to access the property after a couple of attempts to open the box.

The location

No parking pass left. When raised with the company, 20 minutes on the phone, received a message the following day at 11am to say left in lock box, but parking is free after 6pm so it didn’t matter. (No apology)

The property was filthy. Cooking utensils and equipment were unusable. Dishwasher tablets left (with no dishwasher)
The shower grout was black. You have to walk into the shower to turn on. Took around 30 minutes to heat up.
The lock to the front door was used by guests in other properties. Was locked out at one point during the stay. Some times the lock was left open. The property felt really insecure, particularly as a ground floor property.

Have submitted a complaint (will respond in 7-10 days)

Great stay, lovely and clean apartment and ideal location! No issues and great communication with the company Host and Stay. Thank you

Great location

Parking

Location fantastic lovely rooms

Shower could not be accessed while fully clothed getting temp right pluss there was no hot water in kitchen or bathroom even after running the hot tap so did not use shower just in case it was cold as would have had to stand with no clothes on glass could be better at other end of shower pluss no hooks in bathroom to put clothes or shelving pluss tv not programmes to watch freeview do not have accounts for apps

Great location easy to get to town, bars and restaurants

It’s okay

Nothing all good

Perfect location

Perfect location, easy to find, simple access instructions, perfect for our stay.

Brilliant place to stay! So close to Whitby, 2min walk to whale bone arch. Lovely neighbourhood, bakery down the road. Just brilliant accommodation! Would definitely recommend- thank you ?

Convenient location and great value for money. Thank you

Very clean and comfortable

N/A

Cleanliness of towels bed linen comfy bed

Cobwebs ,guck in mug , unclean utensil drawer . Windows would not open mould on tiles in bathroom No parking voucher left for me on arrival ? Sparsely furnished in lounge does not accommodate four people . two seats only for breakfast table .

Big and comfortable

It was very dusty and looked like it hadn’t been stayed in for a while

Loved the location, bedrooms a little smaller than expected and a freezer box in the fridge would be helpful as couldn’t make ice for our drinks! Would still highly recommend though!

Location

Noisy neighbours late at night, hallway looked scruffy with leaflets, paper and post scattered all over. Bedroom very small no wardrobes or draws.

Great location, right near the top of West Cliff. I was doing a few days walking and this place is right on the Cleveland Way and just above the harbour.

Other than the location the property was only ok. I'm not a picky traveller at all but there were a few issues that bothered me. The first is a general issue with Host and Stay who only communicate with you after you've confirmed your booking that you need to be "verified" and that they're going to either take a 250 pound, refundable bond - with a non-refundable 10 pound service charge - out of your account, or charge you 25 pounds to cover you for 500 pounds worth of damage. If you're only staying one night, then this increases the per night rate considerably and assumes that you're going to damage something. Also, in this case, the property was pretty grubby when I arrived. The coffee table hasn't been cleaned in years and anything laid on it stuck immediately. Makes you suspect that the rest of the cleaning has been the same. No dishwashing liquid. One coffee pod. Just overall got the impression that the owners weren't that bothered. I won't be using Host and Stay again.

Position and decor were lovely.

No light bulbs in bedlamps. No hooks, shelves, antislip mat in bathroom. No small hand or face towels. No washing up liquid or pan scrub (dirty cups in cupboard). Not enough loo roll for our short stay. Not enough dining chairs. Not enough storage for clothes. No icebox in fridge. As it was cold the heaters needed to be on and did not come on as mentioned in the guide. I had to sit on the floor and mess for ages to get them to work. One I just couldn't get on. Dusty areas under sofa and beds, in corners and blinds really dusty. No battery in clock (mum with dementia commented constantly about it being 10 o'clock) Difficult to locate keyboard which took 5 attempts to openas i think the buttonsare worn (i use same type on my aunts house). If I had been paid £60 to clean that apartment (as was stated) it would be immaculate. So that aspect was very poor value.

Nice property, very close to West Cliff attractions.
Nice sized rooms, comfortable beds, good wifi, very clean, easy check-in.
Good service from the lettings team - we initially only had a 2-day car parking permit, but when we asked for a longer one, they sorted it out, no hassle.

Great location

Really needs a deep clean. Dusty furniture and blinds. Dirty windows and dirty glasses. Building could do with signage as it has a for sale sign at the front. All blinds were closed. It actually looked unoccupied. Had to ring hosts to confirm it was the correct building

Flat with good facilities in a perfect location. Only criticism is the place could be cleaner. Some mould in the bathroom and dust in other places. Would recommend though!

The flat is in a very good location, close to beach, town, cafes etc.
It was neat and mostly clean. Dusty here and there and shower needs a good bleach, very mouldy. Windows are all very dirty but I'd say this is due to being close to the sea.
Kitchen also could have had more thorough clean.
Beds very comfy, and very fresh.
asked for earlier check in as 4pm is quite late but they could not accommodate this due to their cleaning policy..
TV was also not working. Messaged host, they said they would look at it when we left.

Great location and cosy flat

Disappointed that the promised parking permit was not left. I phoned to enquire but they couldn't deliver it until next day which was too late as we were only staying one night. I have seen in the reviews that this has happened a few times before. This really needs to be resolved so not to ruin people's holiday experience by parking far away at cost.

it was light airy and clean with lots of space and perfect location.

the Wifi only worked in the main sitting room and not the bedrooms so the teenagers were not happy about it.

Very convenient location . Clean and comfortable. There was no parking card at the property. Had to pay for public parking and wasn’t advised on the nearest. But they reimbursed the parking we had to pay and were helpful.

Perfect location

Clock needs a battery in the lounge, and not enough drinking glasses. The lock box for the keys was very difficult to get into

The flat was in an excellent location - right by the beach and close to the centre. It was clean, tidy and comfortable. Would definitely recommend.

The location very good , apartment nice

Called and emailed for parking permit from bad experience in the past . No parking permit left even though it was promised . Did not receive till next day and late
Not enough towels or shower gel etc
Terrible communication from host and stay . Then got accused of damage !
It’s a shame have stayed in Whitby with this company for many years , feel sorry for the owners of the lovely properties

The street is split, 1 side terrace, other side where accommodation is, is the Promanade

Lovely location and comfy beds, would return!

On arrival the property was freezing cold and no parking permit had been left this was left the next day this didn’t cause us any problems but we would have thought the heating could have been switched on we had a small child with us and it took a while for it to get warm and longer for the beds to warm up

The place is very comfortable and very short distance to all the restaurants and attractions. The beach is just around the corner. View is beautiful. Clean and warm.

Lovely couple of nights stay, lovely spot not busy but very close to town. Would recommend and book again.

location

scaffolding blocking windows! windows could not be opened so horribly stuffy and claustrophic. we would NOT have booked this appartement if we had known. completedly spoilt our trip which was a treat at a time when finance very tight!

We have just come back from a short break in Whitby and we have had a lovely time. The apartment was spotless and is very modern and lovely. The instructions we were given via email were very good and easy to follow. Will definitely book with Vrbo again in the future.

Location

The address link took us to the wrong place and we had to ask the guest house across the road for location.

Location was fine stay was self catering. Clean towels and bedding. Nice bathroom.

Size of bedrooms were small no room for storage. Beds uncomfortable although clean. Pans were unusable due to coating scraped off so they were rusty. Not enough normal glasses.

Cleanliness of apartment and comfort.

Pans could do with renewing ie rusty inside.
No frying pan.
Not enough shelves in bathroom.
Could do with coat hooks in lobby.
Screw needs sorting on carpet strip bedroom doorway.
Nothing serious enough to put me of staying again.

hooks for jackets

A much needed escape & relaxation, completely delivered

Great location. Everything we needed for short break. Very quiet but very acceptable location. Minutes to beach & town centre. The W parking permit covers the road right outside- where we managed to park.

Bit difficult to find by address & post code.
One window in living room would not open.
Windows need cleaning. But does have sea view.
Shelf in bathroom would be useful.

Great place to stay for a short break with kids. Great location and space, local parking, bedding and towels clean. Brill shower and bathroom very clean. We’ll be back :-)

I arrived at the rental property to find scaffolding all over the front of the apartment. I wasn’t informed about this and would have booked somewhere else if I’d have known.
Unable to open the windows in the heatwave due to the dust. Cans of paint were left in the hallway too. I asked for a 20% refund which I thought was fare but they’re insisting on no more than 10%!!
Very disappointing.

Location

Very easy check-in. Everything was within a walking distance: the beach, restaurantsand sightseeing. The beds were very comfortable

great location & dog friendly

quite warm and unable to open main room windows due to scaffolding

location

various minor issues , which in fairness we probably should of raised through the stay rather than at the end, nevertheless the lack of fire alarm which we only noticed 30 mins from checking out after 3 days stay was definitely worrying

Really nice flat and very clean. Great bathroom. Brilliant location and easy to get into town, station and The Abbey. Communcation very clear and simple. Close to beach.
Would recommend staying here

The apartment is in an excellent and quiet location, very close to the beach and a short walk into the town centre. Inside was clean and comfortable.

The entire building was covered in scaffolding with builders working on site when we arrived. I had to call to check we were at the right house! It was difficult to find the lockbox "behind the hanging basket" - there were no hanging baskets, just scaffolding and dust.
Many houses had scaffolding on the street and I get that building repairs have to be done. In addition, inside the apartment was ideal for us. However, we had builders walking around outside our first floor window, which meant we had to keep the blinds shut. Fortunately the builders did not arrive on Saturday morning, if they had that would have ruined our stay. Given I paid a lot of money for a night there I think we should a) have been warned about the building work and b) paid less!

Nice location, nice apartment

there was scaffolding up around the entire apartment and workers right outside the windows all day long when we were trying to relax and nap and cook because we were on holiday. Also, it would be nice if there were a freezer. We bought frozen food before coming to the property, but there's only a refrigerator.

we got £100 discount after complaining

rusty pans, faulty hob, windows not working, didn’t feel safe or secure, front door latch hanging off. to top it all, there was a building site with scaffolding outside the whole of the building

location. comfy beds

scaffolding outside. living area not as nice as bedrooms, telly difficult to work

In a great location. Lovely and clean. Everything you need

Sqeaky floorboards

Centrally located, clean and easy self-service check in. All the facilities you'd need for a short break and would definitely recommend.

Great place very close to the beach and the town. The apartment is really nice with fab quality bedding and furniture.
The 2 bedrooms are also away from each other so quite private. Would definitely recommend it.

good location very clean

front entrance need front door painting not a good welcome front door kept being left unlocked although our flat door locked still caused a worry regarding security of property

Very comfortable apartment and in good condition. Lovely comfy beds. Nice big shower. Everything you need in the kitchen and a nice touch with the tea/coffee and milk there for arrival.

Would have loved a bath.

The location was excellent and very handy for everything in whitby. It was a very quite street and the parking was easy to find. The facilities at the apartment was perfect with plenty tea, coffee and milk as well as cleaning products to use.. It was also clean and tidy inside.

Kerb appeal could have been better with a lick of paint on the front door and the windows were very dirty outside. The pillows were a little hard but that’s our preference that we like soft pillows, maybe have a couple of each so people can choose.

Perfect location & very well kept. Up to date and equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay

location was excellent

lack of shelves/ hooks/ drawers

Ideal location with plenty of parking available at the time we were there (late March). Lovely apartment clean and fresh, slept really well in comfortable beds.

The apartment suited our needs very well. The location was excellent - very close to all the amenities

Squeaky floorboards ?

looking from outside looked tired but inside only a few easy fix problems easy access to all areas if you like walking

No coat hooks could do with better seating only 2 chairs at the dining table The outside door did not lock

Great apartment. Clean and modern with plenty of equipment included. Comfortable for 4 people. Perfect for a few days in Whitby. Will definitely be using this one again.

location was very good near the sea, beds very comfortable, quiet apartment

no freezer compartment in fridge, bathroom door lock broken unable to open from the inside if fully shut ( scary being locked in). no frying pan and the sauce pans were cheap tin and very burnt this was a surprise as everything in the apartment was excellent quality

convenient, clean, spacious

A few minor improvement would have made it a perfect stay.
the bathroom door has a fault handle unit and both of us got stuck in there on separate occasions
the saucepans could do with being changed as a few of them are badly marked.
A hook on the back of the bathroom door would help to put bathrobes /dressing gowns on
hooks on the main door or on the wall for coats would also be a great help.
otherwise it was lovely stay

Lovely little place, great location. Parking difficult but probably due to time of year we stayed. It is quite loud when others enter/exit the building, nothing the hosts can do about that but any light sleepers or people with very young children need to be aware of that. Only reason it is not 5 stars. We will definitely stay again.

very simple but modern beds very comfy and the kitchen had everything we needed.

couch a little bit small to get comfy on.

Space, Location, Soft furnishings and interior

No normal TV, just catchup. The only ‘live’ TV channel we had access to was BBC1.

The main door to the building did not lock, people in and out all night it didn’t feel very secure.

Location great. Comfortable and clean apartment with most facilities.

Front door needs a coat of paint! As rest of apartment nicely finished
TV was limited being on WiFi couldn't get channels like 4 and 5 etc
No can opener or grater and pans looked rusty

The location was perfect, we went out for breakfast.

Everything was perfect beautiful and spacious accommodation

parking, needs marked bays

no food should have been at >£200/night

front door did not lock, security poor
no soap, no welcome bundle

Everything else was good, great to have something there for a cuppa.

Shower not working had to ring for it to be fixed could have had more clothes hangers. Front door does not give of a good look, needs painting, cigarette ends on path near picnic table

Clean property with lots of space. Very comfortable beds. Good sized bathroom with good shower. Clean and compact kitchen area with all the appliances which we needed.

The toilet seat didn’t fit which was a shame and surely wouldn’t take much to fix. No freezer. Quite a large stain on one of the dining chairs which was very noticeable. Maybe some more shelving and hooks for coats etc.

We had to contact host in advance of arriving to find out how to access property
The key box was hidden but we eventually found it after a phone call however the main issue was there are no photos online of the exterior to the property / it is actually very run down outside, front door needs to be replaced and communal area needs to be upgraded, but I realised as a shared property this is down to the building owner : landlord, also latch on the door was open every time we arrived or left so didn’t feel very safe however we were very happy with the apartment when we got inside except for a few minor issues

Apartment was a great size, the beds were really comfy and location was fantastic.

The toilet seat is too small for the toilet so needs to be replaced
Shower grout needs redoing as a bit mouldly
There was a nespresso machine but no pods available to use

Excellent location. Clean and comfortable.

Basic maintenance issues, for example, toilet seat not fitted properly, front door to building (not apartment) broken, blinds in bedroom not working. Table only sits two people although apartment is for four. Minimal storage space. Parking is a nightmare. Unable to park near apartment on arrival. Eventually got a place on the street then didn’t dare move car for the duration of the stay. Cafetière would have been good.

The apartment’s location is brilliant - one street from the seafront and within walking distance from the town centre. Everything was clean and tidy and the host was really responsive. The only reason I’ve not rated higher is that we felt the apartment was quite basic for the price but this is reflective of the market more than anything I think! Also thought the outside was a bit shabby so our initial impression wasn’t as good as it could have been.

Could fo with a shelf and a couple of towel hooks in the bathroom.

Location was good, the flat was in good condition. We only stayed one night so did not use all the facilities provided

There was no parking scratch card when we arrived .we could either wait in for the card to arrive or as we did parked in a pay and display as the permit parking was very limited.

the location was brilliant and the apartment was clean and well furnished. The beds were very comfortable and the shower was great. We really enjoyed staying there.

the sofa was very uncomfortable and the saucepans were burnt on the bottom.

Excellent location

There was nowhere to put wet coats on a rainy day

As advertised. Note parking is very difficult.

Property was in an excellent location by the beach. It was a few minutes walk to the beach which was fantastic. The children enjoyed the TV choices available and felt like home away from home. We didn’t get to use the kitchen facilities as we arrived later than we expected and ate from the food vans on the pavilion by the beach.

The beds were hard and uncomfortable but I think we as a family are used to softer beds. There was no parking on the street by the property and had to park further away for the night. The welcome pack didn’t include the parking voucher we were expecting but the host management team were very efficient in their call back and apologised for it and offered to reimburse us for parking. Luckily parking was free from 7pm to 9am. So it was ok as we checked out before 9am.

Great apartment in the best part of town right next to the promenade
Exactly as pictured and described

Location was good

The floor wasn't clean
The bedrooms, you couldn't get in or out of bed without climbing over another person, hard to open windows, ventilation in bathroom didn't seem to work, no storage for clothes, toiletries or food

Everything was OK

Everything was OK

Powerful shower.
Cleanliness.
TV.
Size.

Rear parking unclear.

Spacious

Couldn't work the tv and the seagulls were too loud

Great stay, prompt communication throughout. Would highly recommend.

Great dog friendly apartment for a short stay in Whitby. Perfect location, convenient parking and great communication by the owners. Would definitely recommend to others and stay in again ourselves

Perfect location for ease of access into Whitby. So clean, beds so comfortable with crisp linen. Would book again in a heartbeat

Jo C
