fabulous location in a very rural spot
amazing for star gazing as hardly any light pollution
rural location but not very far away from the coast and other great locations of interest
cottage has everything you need for a relaxing break
well equipped and clean
comfy bed
comfy reclining sofas
fabulous fireplace

nothing to dislike
ticks all the boxed for us

Our accommodation was very nice, extremely clean and a very quiet location. The host (Charlie) was also very responsive to any messages.
However, I don have 2 grumbles:
There was little / no wifi which meant even trying to open up emails was impossible. This has also been mentioned for a number of months in the guest book (Feb 2023) and still an issue that exists.
Once you’ve booked and paid, you’re then obliged to pay an additional insurance fee “for peace and mind” which also comes with an admin fee…hmmm.
If you don’t require wifi or mind an additional fee, then this place is highly recommended.
You’re in a very quiet location but only 5 minutes drive from Bamburgh Castle or 20 minutes from Holy Island.

Simple and efficient.

Nothing

Lovely cottage with excellent facilities and in a great location for visiting the local area. Would highly recommend

Lavender Cottage was very comfortable and spacious. Good kitchen, relaxing lounge and a large bedroom with good storage with a small clean bathroom off.
Ample parking for the set of 5 or 6 cottages. Lane to the cottage is very narrow, with a number of potholes, so drive carefully.
The lounge and and bedroom had a large screen TV but the absence of any working WIFI means not streaming services. Note inside the cottage says the WIFI is intermittent; it isn't, it is nonexistent. AirBnB listing needs to be changed to make this clear.
The location is near enough to the A1 and the coast to explore this beautiful county. Electric car charging is close by on the A1.
Overall a lovely off grid stay, in a well appointed and beautiful cottage.
PS the owners mum was friendly and helpful. We would stay here again.

Lovely cottage

No shower availabe. Contacted host and stay who said owner eoukd contact us. No contact at all

Fabulous rural location, great cottage with everything that you need for a relaxing and comfortable stay. Clean, comfortable, welcoming, cosy what's not to like!!

Nothing to report

Beautiful little place nested in the countryside just a short 5 minute drive to Bamburgh . Lovely and clean, tidy and well presented. Really quiet and quant little area, perfect place for exporting Northumberland and crossing the Scottish border. Really friendly hosts and helpful, gave us all the information we needed. A little struggle with phone signal as others have already pointed out but didn’t bother us too much as we were able to connect to WiFi/ hotspot for the TV, understandable with where it is.

Lovely quiet location. Comfortable. Large bedroom. Modern kitchen and lounge.

The shower is not strong enough. Definitely needs replaced!

Not applicable.

Could a more powerful shower.
Limited TV channels. Could have done with access to Netflix etc.

A lovely quiet cottage located 5 minutes away from Bamburgh and the fantastic coastline.
The cottage was immaculately clean, comfortable, warm and is great value for money.
Our 3rd stay here and we’ll be back again.

Quiet & private.
Intermittent WiFi.
Use shower on Eco setting.

N/A

Road condition.

We stayed second weekend in December - we were the only people in the vicinity and it was very peaceful/ practically no cars coming through and neighbours very quiet.
The WiFi is noted as being not very strong but we managed to get around this by hot-spotting off our phones with no issues.
We’ll definitely be staying again in the future

Beautiful, quiet rural location which was perfect for a relaxing break. Lavender Cottage is a lovely cosy cottage with everything you need for a relaxing stay. Clean and comfortable bed, plenty of towels and loo roll in the ensuite bathroom. Bedroom is huge with plenty of storage and lots of plug sockets for hairdryer/straighteners phone charger. . Kitchen facilities were all you needed with decent kettle, toaster, fridge and easy to use hob, oven and microwave. Beautiful living room with two very comfy reclining sofas, 2 large velux windows in the roof void made this room beautiful and light all day long. The electric fire also came in handy and made the room very cosy on an evening.

Handheld vac in utility cupboard didn't have a cable in order to charge up and use, but I'm sure this can be easily rectified. WiFi is a real struggle at the cottage however, mobile signal was adequate.

It was a lovely AirBnB, very cosy, clean and rustic modern. Good value for money and would recommend for a nice stay in Northumberland. Very close to Bamburgh castle which is worth visiting.
The Wi-Fi doesn’t work at all as it’s very rural, so bare that in mind. 4G is good on phone so we connected the TV to our hotspot to watch Netflix etc.

Lovely property and good location for the many places of interest nearby.

I understand that this is a rural location but the internet provision was not intermittent as the notice in the property indicates but virtually non-existent.
Access is via a narrow country lane.

Very clean and warm. We had a lovely stay. Host very responsive to any queries we had.

An excellent cost cottage to enjoy the amazing Northumberland countryside. An ideal base for exploring

Very comfortable and well-appointed cottage. Excellent location for Bamburgh and the coast.

Limited TV channels, no BBC or WiFi available.

lovely quiet cosy cottage. clean and tidy and just like the photos. communication from host and stay was spot on. The only thing we didn't have was working wifi but it didn't spoil our stay as it was nice and peaceful. would highly recommend staying here.

Lovely quaint cottage in a perfect location for exploring the stunning Northumberland coast.
Cottage was really comfy, felt at home and had everything we needed. Bathroom was spotless and a nice shower (much needed after a rainy day walking!).
Wifi was patchy, but actually had good phone signal (we used this to connect the TV for streaming).
Kitchen was well stocked with utensils and everything you could need. No essential cooking bits provided (oil, salt, pepper, tea, coffee) so bring your own if cooking!
Host was responsive to our queries - would definitely recommend.

Lavender cottage was a great location for a few days to explore Northumberland. Even managed to pop oved the border. You definitely nered some kind of transport as nothing is near to walk to. The cottage is excellent fort a couple to enjoy a break away.

Lovely kitchen, beautiful lounge. Large bedroom

Bed was uncomfortable. Staff at Host and stay not helpfull.

Bluebell parked their car in front of cottage rather than assigned spot. Told Charlie she said have a word with him. How stupid, considering they sent an email with the rules. If you are looking for a comfortable bed, DONT STAY HERE. Staff don't respond to any complaints total wimps. Knives forks spoons and cups filty. If you have standards, don't stay here and if you want to sleep don't stay here and if you want a response to complaints don't stay here.

Beautiful very rural location.
Super clean & modernised cottage.
Very comfortable.
Although rural not far from amenities & places of interest to visit.

Tv in lounge was very intermittent in working, so had to spend most of the time in the bedroom watching tv in there & so couldn’t really enjoy the benefits of lounge.
Internet pretty non existent & so if you rely heavily on it (which we do) then it’s not the place for you.

Lovely little cottage, very clean and comfortable
Bed was very comfortable and there was a great ensuite.
Cottage had everything we needed and just a short drive to major attractions.

Nothing that I disliked

Lovely spot in a peaceful location but with easy access to lots of sights and facilities.

Location was perfect secluded but not far from main beaches.cottage exceptional both high quality
fittings and cleanliness

No problems or nothing negative about accommodation

Great place for peace and quiet. lots of things to do and see as long as you drive to them. Great area for cyclists.

Wonderful cottage in the middle of the Northumberland countryside, very close to Bamburgh.
Would recommend this to anyone who wanted a quiet getaway.
The Cottage was lovely, everything we could of wished for in a home from home.

Tv reception in main room useless
Very loose tap in kitchen, despite being reported previously
Strong smell of stale water in bathroom
Shower goes from red hot to cold without touching controls, again previously reported but not fixed
Despite saying this address was in Bamburgh when booking it later turned out to be Belford. Wanted to leave car behind, due to this wasn’t able to

Location
Bike storage
Well equipped

Some fittings seemed a little cheap or shoddily fitted.
Kitchen tap loose. Noisy hot water.

Been three times previously, always immaculate, peaceful and great location

Nothing really

Fantastic property in a great location near Bamburgh. absolute peace and quiet which is just what we were after.

Our issue is not with the property but with the agent that the owner has used to manage the bookings. The company is called Host and Stay and were extremely hard work to deal with. initially I was not happy about having to pay a damage waiver or leave a deposit but having checking the small print in the booking I accepted that as a requirement. host and Stay were relentless chasing the completion of the damage waiver. I finally completed a link they sent me which I later found out was for a different date and someone else’s booking. Host and Stay continued to chase for completion of the damage waiver despite me explaining that I’d followed the link they’d sent me and made the payment for the damage waiver. I explained that to complete the process again I would have to pay twice. I asked them to transfer the completed verification and insurance to my actual booking. I thought I’d finally got somewhere when they emailed to say they were happy I’d completed the verification and would receive the entry information. I received an email containing the “PIN number” and wrongly assumed that was the key box number. Arriving at the property I tried the number and it did not work. I rang Host and Stay and explained that I needed the key box number and their representative said that I had not completed the verification or insurance process! I again explained what had happened and that they had sent the wrong link so the rep put me on hold to look into it. Some 10 minutes later I hung up as there was no sign of anyone coming back to me and rang back. their rep again said I hadn’t completed the process at which point I again explained what had happened. eventually they gave me the key box number - they are a nightmare to deal with and I only go to this length of putting this information in the review in the hope the owner of the cottage sees my review and considers the use of Host and Stay as their agent.

Accommodation was comfortable and had everything we needed

We liked everything

Lovely cottage; nicely furnished. Fabulous area.

WiFi was terrible. 0.5mbps at best; rebooting made no difference. Lounge tv also had intermittent signal.

wonderful modern cottage beautifully done up with great decor, perfect location for Bamburgh and seahouses.

wifi was patchy

It was warm and comfortable and extremely quiet. It was close to some of the best beaches I have seen as well as the national park.

The only very minor irritation was the shower head which needs a new fixture to stop it dropping at short notice.

We had a lovely quiet stay here - the cottage was quiet and peaceful with only the sheep across the road to wake us. Would recommend and return if we are in Northumberland again

Lovely cottage in a very beautiful part of the UK

wi fi

The cottage was in a great location and was super clean. Was really warm and has lots of towels and had lots of unique lights around the cottage. The electric fire also made it feel cozy. There was also lot's of parking and laundry and bike storage on site which was good if we had needed it.

Very hard to locate and would benefit better signage at entrance to car park. Bed was lumpy and could do with things such as coffee and tea on arrival. I also thought a £25 fee for insurance for 2 nights was to expensive.

We had a fabulous stay for 4 days. Cottage was spotlessly clean and looked just as the pictures. Bed was very comfy and the cottage was lovely and warm. We played golf at a couple of courses and would highly recommend Bamburgh castle golf course, the course and views were stunning. Would love to come and stay again., thank you for a lovely stay.

Beautiful property finished to a high standard. very comfortable.

WiFi was very poor. Smart TV but most function’s therefore not useable.
I had difficulty with email correspondence with Host & Stay if replying to their emails via

Another great few days stay in this property.
The cottage was immaculately clean and had everything in it you would need for your holiday. The location is so peaceful and only a 5 minute drive from Bamburgh.
Definitely be back again !!
Julian & Mandy.

The cottage was lovely comfortable .
Gorgeous location.
However see below.

The shower was very poor , on echo mode wasn't very hot not a lot of pressure , turn to high mode was either red hot turn down slightly cold so that disappointed us . Also went to turn fire on on the fri morning nothing no power on it was ok night before , we reported it , also was under impression before we got there was a log burner fire , even asked host and stay if we could bring our own if none provided was told yes so wasted money buying them and bringing with us , apart from that we enjoyed it even though the problems we had, ps would stay again but better info please

Greet size for couples, clean property in a lovely location. visited some lovely restaurants and went on great walks. Nice quiet weekend just what was needed. Thank you.

There was no dish washer or washing machine but not the end of the world.

A lovely clean and comfortable cottage in a really peaceful location. We will certainly stay again

Location,Lovely lounge area,comfortable bed.

Shower

Great location and easy to find. Larger property than you expect with modern furniture and bathroom (although very weak water pressure on shower). Kitchen had all the utensils you need but things weren’t very clean - so we had to wash anything before use. Bedroom - bed was comfy, could do with more storage / drawers, and distinct smell of dog - suppose to be animal free.
Wifi is extremely poor which was frustrating and really let the property down, made it impossible to use streaming services - so wouldn’t return because of this. Recommend twilight swim at the ocean club, mini golf at the bunker and morning walk on Bamburgh beach for anyone visiting.

It was homely, cosy, super clean and so nice to get back to after a long walk on the beach. Just a very short drive to Bamburgh where the beach is stunning, so clean, beautiful! The bed was one of the best I’ve ever slept in!

My one and only gripe is the heater didn’t work in the bathroom but it didn’t spoil our stay.

The cottage was clean and all was as described.
Everything provided including a bottle of milk. Bed very comfortable and excellent shower with mat, if needed.
A few miles from Belford but in an attractive, quiet position down narrow lanes.

Lovely cottage, well furnished, good location for different attractions. Loved the electric fire. Clean in the main part.

Not a didn’t like as such as understand it can be missed but some areas needed an extra clean such as Dust around the tiny ornaments in the kitchen, clean behind the shutters, move the sofa and hoover underneath.
Also would benefit with more information about the cottage/recycling and activities around the location.

The cottage feels very remote but isnt a far drive at all from places. It's beautiful inside and out.

The internets quite poor for the tv, but hotspot from a phone is good enough to sort that out

It was very clean and comfortable.

The location was quite remote . In theory it is walking distance to Bamburgh but for the vast majority of the route there was no foot path so not safe to walk. The cottage is in a collection of similar cottages. The only outside furniture ( which is quite basic) is right outside the front door in the courtyard so there is no privacy if other families are out too.

Character, quiet location near the sea, good provision of linen, electrical equipment and kitchen equipment, ample off-road parking, pretty hanging baskets and flower tubs.

It was advertised as having wifi - but that isn’t much use with a very intermittent internet connection. My call about this to the provider was promptly returned, but I was not impressed to be referred to their small print and told that there is no superfast broadband in the hamlet of Bradford. A guest who lives over a hundred miles away is not going to know this by osmosis! If you state prominently in the property description that it has wifi, but know that the internet connection is poor, YOU MUST SAY SO EQUALLY PROMINENTLY - not in your general T’s & C’s. That is misleading. As I said to your representative, I intended to work via the internet during my stay, but couldn’t. Had you said that the internet connection was poor, that would have influenced my decision as to whether to book Lavender Cottage.

Location great, quiet, relaxing ?

Weather on last day!

Great place, nice & quiet

Liked the property and the on site staff

Information supplied was not correct. Host and stay were not helpful. Parking instructions were completely wrong. Complaint about faulty TV was basically ignored by rest and stay but resolved quickly by on site staff when they were informed. On site staff were not aware that we would be staying there

Local information for walk ways, surrounding area, amenities, tourist info in cottage needs improved, updated and available. Although given link on line more helpful if available to look at in cottage.
TV in main room very complicated to work out and what was available free to watch, also connection very poor for buffering.

Prompts (breakfast, location) not applicable.

Was nice and quiet

Nothing

Lovely peaceful location and only a short drive to the main village of Bamburgh to the Castle and fabulous beaches

Great country location with views across the fields. Very comfortable lounge and exceptionally comfortable bed. Nice to sit outside and enjoy the views

Kitchen equipment was sparce.

1word everything

nothing not to like property was clean cosy and had everything we needed peace and quiet lovely walks from door and plenty of parking we had no problem with wi-fi reception

perfect place for a couple visiting this area, large rooms well furnished and equipped.

We loved everything about the cottage, it was exactly how it looked on line when we were looking for a cottage to stay at. It was beautifully set out, clean, tidy spacious and when we called about the heating issue, the maintenance guy who was lovely too was out to us ASAP to help sort the problem.

There was nothing not to like about the cottage. Perfect and we would recommend anyone to stay there.

convenient for all local attractions. clean , fresh , comfortable, stylish, well equipped.

shower was low volume

wi fi did not work, no ice tray for drinks in freezer, no dish washer, an annoying noise all night from one of the cables above cottage. telephone line

The cottage was very comfortable lovely decor everything you want for a relaxing holiday

There was nothing I didn't like

An excellent cottage, tastefully decorated, spotlessly clean, great location.

This place was absolutely perfect and just what I needed. Super clean, easy to find and mega convenient to explore Bamburgh etc. Thanks very much ??

Peaceful

Not enough cutlery

absolutely gem of a place, far out enough to be peaceful, but very handy for all local attractions by car, the cottage itself was well equipped, well furnished, and spotless, and clearly well looked after, we had an amazing 4 night stay, and would come back again happily, the communication was spot on, we were advised of everything we needed to know in advance, thank you again for such a lovely break xx

Faultless. A truly exceptional property, with the highest standards in finishings and furniture. Everything had been thought of, even down to providing a sewing kit.

Purely a personal minor complaint, I thought the mattress was a bit soft to my taste. It didn't however, stop me sleeping.

Cottage had everything you would need for a relaxing short break. First class

Been said before in previous reviews but broadband was not great. Nothing property or owners can do with this. Did not impact on our stay.

Everything !
Exceptionally clean and well maintained. Nothing was tatty , stained, broken or worn .
Modern and tastefully decorated.

Nothing to complain about as such.
Only bugbear was that the TV 's
( excellent picture quality and size )
We're tantalisingly none connectable to the wifi, so missed being able to watch a netflix film in the eve, for winters eve entertainment would have been icing on the cake .

We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful cottage, clean and spacious throughout, wonderful rural location but close to Bamburgh and the A1. Unfortunately the wifi was down for the duration of our stay, but the area has a good phone signal and 3G. Great communication from Stay.

Location and charm of the cottage

A bath!

great location , spacious and clean

expensive 474 for 3 nights

Second visit to this property. Quiet location, excellently kitted out and close to lots of points of

Very modern, fresh and clean. Perfect place for a short stay.

The Wi-fi was almost non-existent. Couldn’t even on the first night watch a programme without it cutting out even with all devices having the wifi off.
Shower very poor pressure. Spent 10 mins trying to get the right temperature. Scolding or freezing. A note that the fridge is in a very awkward place.

Lovely quiet location, beautiful, spacious, modern decoration and very well equipped.

Nothing!

The property has been recently renovated so everything is pretty new. There's a laundry room & secure bike store which were great. Lovely quiet location but well placed for access to Bamburgh & Seahouses (walking distance for the reasonably fit) and Alnwick.

A little bit extra local info would've been useful. Footpath maps to the local pub & stuff like that but it was a super small niggle and we managed to find our way round. It certainly wouldn't stop me booking again.

The cottage was home from home and even better. Everything you needed for a stay was there. Parking is good. The cottage also looks lovely with the flowers and is well maintained. We felt very comfortable here and the location was great.

The wi-fi didn’t really work for us and it would have been nice to get a bit more access to channels via the TV after a long day walking and sightseeing, especially with the comfy recliners!

It was modern and clean.
Perfect location to visit other towns and castles.
Very quiet location and feeling very relaxed.

Well presented cottage. Great location, as just a quick drive to Bamburgh. Easy access to other local places and A1. Would definitely stay again.

A fabulous cottage, well designed with everything you need for a very comfortable stay. Great location, peacefully quiet but near to all the sights such as Banburgh, Lindisfarne and Alnwick. Hosts are extremely helpful and are keen to make sure everything is just right for you.

Perfect for the 2 of us, location excellent, lovely finishing touches to the cottage.

Nothing.

Beautiful property, had everything you could possibly need.

Internet was very poor

Beautiful cottage set in glorious and very peaceful countryside.
Cottage is well equipped and about 2 miles from A1 and Bamburgh so ideal for seeing the area.

Lavender cottage was well fitted out for self-catering and the rooms were spacious and nicely decorated. There is a bicycle lockup which we did not know about in advance. The location is ideally placed for visiting Bamburgh, Lindisfarne, Seahouses and Berwick, all of which are within easy reach by car along the A1 and coast roads. There are few walking paths around and the nearest is blocked by a farm building. The roads are narrow without verges so not the safest place to walk, that said there is little traffic until you reach the main road to Bamburgh.

Access to the Internet through the Wifi proved impossible no matter how hard we tried so we couldn’t test the claim of fast broadband. We followed instructions carefully, but it kept taking us around in circles. We think a better service provider needed. Poor quality TV reception for some stations. The shaver point in the bathroom did not work. The outside space is well maintained but limited so al fresco dining is not an option.
We eventually found the switches for the towel rail and the bathroom fan. There was no information about that in the guide folder or even a local map and tourist brochures which would have been a nice welcoming touch.
As previous visitors have noticed there is indeed a strange smell in the bedroom: we kept all windows open which helped but the owners need to sort it out-maybe clean the carpet as a start?

This is a lovely cottage in a really peaceful spot with open countryside all around. The cottage was far larger than anticipated and was really well presented and equipped. Friendly hosts and a great few days away. A really good find and well recommended.

Lovely accommodation and fantastic location near the coast. Highly recommend.

Fantastic cottage. Very clean and great location. Would return just hope small dogs can be allowed to come again as was perfect!

Beautiful place to stay, quick drive into local villages for a nice quiet getaway

Great place to stay extremely well equipped and super clean and comfortable.

We had a lovely stay, very comfortable and great space for the dog to play outside our cottage. Thanks so much!

Really great stay. The property is lovely - beautifully decorated with everything you could need, and a 5 minute drive from a stunning coastline. Fab

Lovely quiet, clean and spacious cottages that are a short drive to Bamburgh and ideal for touring the surrounding area. If you have dogs then please note there is no enclosed area but plenty of local walks.

Very modern and clean cottage

Perfect little getaway. A stunning cottage in beautiful scenery. The location is perfect for exploring Northumberland’s beauty spots. The cottage was spotlessly clean and comfortable. Would definitely recommend!

Lovely 1 bed cottage on a working farm. Beautiful decor, Covid - 19 precautions in place and excellent communication from start to end.
