No matter the weather, Longsands beach always provides a great trip out! This Blue Flag award-winning beach is a year-round favorite, renowned for its scenic beauty and invigorating walks and breathtaking views of the North. (It is also the perfect remedy for shaking off the cobwebs)! In the summer, the sands are perfect for relaxing on and soaking in some sun.
This beach also has a national reputation as the perfect surf destination and has even staged national championships. Premier League football team, Newcastle United, have also used this beach as a place to train, and has even been featured in the famous film “Goal”!
Close by to the beach is Tynemouth Priory & Castle, which overlooks the North Sea and the River Tyne. Steeped in history, this castle is over 2000 years old and is in an excellent location for a family fun day out. The surrounding areas of the Castle make the perfect spot to sit back, relax and enjoy the views.

Tynemouth is home to the first Lola Jeans. This bar and restaurant offers award winning tasty treats and signature cocktails and have even been crowned the winner of the Battle of The Burger five consecutive years running! You will definitely not want to miss out on this hidden gem.
Next up is Rileys Fish Shack. This semi-portable fish bar and grill can be found nestled on King Edward’s Bay, right on the beach! A trip here is an experience in itself, made from old shipping containers, you can sit and relax in the deck chairs whilst enjoying your freshly caught lunch. Serving local, seasonal fish and seafood, this shack serves up some of the best food on the coast, Condé Nast Traveller magazine has even named it as one of its top 12 beach shack restaurants in the whole of the UK!
