Harry Potter Experience
Used as the location for Hogwarts in the Harry Potter film franchise, Alnwick Castle is one of the most iconic castles in Britain. You may also have noticed the castle appear on your TV screens in Downton Abbey! Discover a realm of adventure by taking on the Dragon Quest or complete broomstick training in the very spot where Harry Potter had his first flying lesson. Head to the Artisan Courtyard to have fun dressing up in medieval costumes and get a feel for 14th century life.
Alnwick Gardens
The Alnwick Gardens are home to the Duchess of Northumberland’s beautiful creation. This multi-award winning attraction has 12 acres of incredible gardens. It features the world’s largest Tai Haku Cherry Orchard as well as a Grand Cascade which has 120 water jets! You can also dine at the Treehouse Restaurant, which is the largest in the world.
Explore the Town
Alnwick’s town centre is a maze of winding cobbled streets lined with independent boutiques, restaurants, coffee shops and pubs. Amble through the town taking in the beautiful medieval buildings and stop for a spot of lunch in one of the many cafes. If you’re a keen reader, head to the old railway station and you’ll find one of the UK’s largest second hand bookshops. As night falls, venture to one of the lively inns to enjoy live music.
