Kent Downs & North Downs Way

The Kent Downs are a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and stretch from the white cliffs of Dover to the Surrey and London border. The North Downs Way is a 153 mile trail from Farnham to Dover. The beautiful landscape is a sight to behold with bluebell woodlands, chalk grassland and picturesque ragstone villages. A real celebration of the great outdoors, a stay in the Kent Downs will recharge your batteries and reconnect you with nature.

Wye in the North Downs

Sitting at the foot of the North Downs, you’ll find the medieval village of Wye on the banks of the river Stour. This ancient settlement has an impressive history going all the back to the very earliest habitation! Today the village is a fantastic place to visit with a charming main street, shops, pubs and restaurants. One of our favourite places to visit for a drink or meal is The Tickled Trout on the river! There is a farmers market twice a month where you can buy the best local produce. You can take a walk (not for the faint hearted!) or drive up to the Wye Crown or the Devils Kneading Trough to enjoy some fabulous views across the Downs and out to the sea and Romney Marsh.

Waltham & Petham in the North Downs

The charming villages of Waltham and Petham are roughly 5-7 miles from Canterbury. Surrounded by stunning Areas of Natural Beauty, you can expect unspoilt countryside and picturesque scenery. Offering an escape from the busy modern world, both villages are a breath of fresh air. The Compasses Inn can provide some welcome refreshment on your visit.

Hastingleigh in the North Downs

Sitting right on the top of the North Downs Way is Hastingleigh. Situated on the crossroads of ley lines, it’s said to have mystical powers and it certainly does feel special. Centred around the village inn, Hastingleigh offers beautiful views down over the valley. Surrounded by woods and countryside, it’s a great place to explore. The traditional pub, The Bowl Inn, is award winning and dates back to the 1740s!
