Neighborhood
Middlesmoor is an ancient hilltop village perched on the end of a ridge overlooking Nidderdale with fine views extending Gouthwaite Reservoir. Its 1864 church was built on the top of a much older one and there is an original Anglo-Saxon font still preserved inside the church. It occupies a commanding position in front of the village at the top of the hill and can be seen for miles around. It has the most astonishing views and is the stars at night viewed from are Church are beautiful. The village has cobbled streets and stone cottages and with its lofty position at the head of the Dale is one of the most picturesque in the Dales area.

The property is surrounded by exceptional views and stunning moorland. Located on the Nidderdale Way, you can walk for miles to places such as Scar House Reservoir and Masham Moor.

If you fancy an outdoor activity you can visit How Stean Gorge Activity Centre. Experience a full day of adventure with one of their readymade packages or partake in a single activity if you want to try something specific. Rock Climbing, Abseiling, Canoeing, Caving and Mountain Biking are all on their extensive list of activities.

How Stean Gorge is well known in Yorkshire for being one of the best days out for all ages. Featured on BBC’s Countryfile, this is a place not to be missed.

If you are travelling with children, you could take a visit to see the Nidderdale Llamas or visit Studfold Adventure Trail. This is a wonderful play and discovery experience for toddlers and young children where they can explore nature and run wild in the beautiful setting of the Yorkshire Dales.

If you want to visit some local towns and villages, Pateley Bridge is a lovely little Yorkshire Dales town with a pretty high street, lined with independent shops and delightful eateries.

The delightful market town of Masham is situated in the breathtakingly beautiful region of Lower Wensleydale. The town itself boasts a large Georgian market square, said to be one of the largest in England. With a range of local shops, tearooms and great places to eat, Masham is a popular destination all year round. Masham is also famous for its family-run breweries, steam engines and annual sheep fair. Both the Black Sheep Brewery and Theakston Brewery offer tours from their visitor centre.

Getting around the Yorkshire Dales is quick and convenient with the towns and villages located so close together. You can use the Leeds-Morecambe line and the famous Leeds-Settle-Carlisle line which give fantastic access to the Dales on one of the most spectacular train journeys in England.

Lovely & modern, tidy, clean and great location! Great for dogs as plenty of space.

The only outdoor garden is paved and if my dogs wanted to jump onto the higher garden which has wood chips on to do their business but this part isnt secure.

Comfortable and well equipped cottage. Very clean. Lovely, remote village

Avoid renting from Host and Stay if possible. After confirming and taking payment they then added on £25 to the rental cost, saying that there was a compulsory insurance charge! Very poor business practice of dubious legality.

Absolutely loved location, gorgeous view and ease of access for walk or hikes.
The property was so cosy that we both loved being able to relax after a day of sightseeing.
It had a homely feel, welcoming us back after each outing.
More than enough room for a couple.

The only tiny gripe was the TV remotes were a bit unresponsive. It didn't take anything away from our holiday we enjoyed it regardless.

Beautiful surroundings- very peaceful and relaxing with great walks from the front door
Inside the house there were high quality furnishings yet it also very comfortable.
Enjoyed the layout of downstairs -separate sitting room with two double settees. The central heating was adjustable which was good as one day was very cold and wet yet the other warm and sunny.

Both showers didn’t work in the morning so I had to go retro and was my hair under taps in the bath! There was quite a lot of dust and dirt in the kitchen on the table and the cooker when we arrived so needed a good wipe around. There were no coffee pods for the machine and nowhere nearby to buy any. You can only get a few channels on TV. There was no toilet brush in the downstairs toilet. The £10 administration fee on top of the £250 good housekeeping bond was irritating - we just paid the £24 waiver insurance fee as we couldn’t the faff of it all so I guess it’s probably a nice little earner for the management company!

The cottage was fantastic, everything you need and more. The views were stunning, the local pub was great with fantastic food. If you want peace and quiet out in the sticks with luxury thrown in this a fab place.

They charge a damage deposit or a waiver fee. There was damage in the cottage and you do worry about who will be blamed for this, so we felt the need to take photos just for our peace of mind. There is 1 piece of furniture in the dining room that just doesn't go with the cottage at all, the furnishings are modern and well presented but the dresser is an eye sore and should be removed and replaced with something that blends better with the other fixtures and fittings.

The cottage is just perfect, sitting at the top of the village and on the edge of the moors. Loved the 50 meter stroll to the traditional pub and the star-lit skies were magical. The cottage is beautifully appointed and well-equipped. It was immaculate and exactly what we’d hoped for. There’s such a lot to do in the area. We were impressed with the events and the sights to see. And the scenery. Wow! I’d rebook in a heartbeat.

What a great location- straight out the front door to wonderful walks- the property offers all the facilities for a comfortable stay- one pub a stone throw away where you can meet the locals and another down the road which again does fabulous food ! We went in February- and it blew a few cob webs away which is just what we wanted - came home refreshed- can’t wait to go back again.
