Neighborhood
The coastal town of Whitby has something special about it and has long been popular with visitors to Yorkshire’s Coast, owing to its delightful harbour which is surrounded by pretty houses, restaurants and fun things to do. All this splendour is overlooked by the historic Whitby Abbey.

The town is famous for its association with Bram Stoker‘s Dracula, English explorer Captain James Cook and the mysterious Whitby Jet. Visitors can stroll along the harbour walls, from where seals, dolphins and porpoises can be seen as little fishing boats chug by. The town’s maritime heritage is commemorated by statues of Captain Cook and William Scoresby, as well as the whalebone arch that sits at the top of the West Cliff.

Other significant features include the swing bridge, which crosses the River Esk and the harbour, which is sheltered by the grade II listed East and West piers.

West of town is West Cliff Beach, lined with colourful beach huts.

Getting Around
Whitby rail station is located along Bagdale and towards Victoria Square. There are routes to Middlesbrough, Hartlepool, Sunderland, Newcastle, Hexham and Carlisle via the scenic Esk Valley Line.

The North Yorkshire Moors Railway is also accessible from Whitby rail station. Go back in time and enjoy dramatic moorland all the way to the market town of Pickering.

Whitby has great bus routes to surrounding areas including villages and towns along the North Yorkshire coast. You’ll find regular routes to Scarborough and Middlesbrough, along with occasional direct services to Pickering, Malton, York and Leeds.

The nearest airport is Teesside International, 45 miles away from Whitby.

Property was in a great location and was exactly as described, with lots of facilities. It's really close to town centre. It was ok for our 3 dogs. Parking was good. Views of Abbey and steam trains were a bonus!. Good value.

Good stay, thought price was a little over budget especially with checkin not being until 4pm and check out at 10 mean not even 24 hours in property, but did book last minute, so didn’t mind paying price at the time. Property was really clean, feel the furniture in sitting room could do with an up date, as did not match the more Modern aspects of the house, also thought it smelt a little ‘ old fashioned’. Found double mattress not comfortable as really hard and springy, but just one nights stay so didn’t mind. Really easy check in, hosts amazing, really attentive and communication was great. Over all a good stay.

Fabulous house just a stone's throw for the centre of Whitby. Immaculately clean and very tastefully decorated and furnished. Very spacious and really well equipped with excellent beds, high quality bedding and brilliant showers. The parking is great and the outside space is excellent. Would definitely stay here again and highly recommend to friends and family. 5 stars all day long. Many thanks

We booked as a last minute family trip with the dog. the house was clean but we didn't get lockbox instructions from the host company, so we had to message and call twice to sort that. <br/>the house was clean and exactly like pictured and super close to everything! the perfect location.<br/>The second 'living room' had a sofa bed in it so it definitely could accommodate up to 6 people! <br/>The only gripes were that the WiFi code didn't work, but we coped for the one night, and that after you pay everything, you can't actually stay until you pay a hidden damage waiver! I'm not a fan of hidden costs!!<br/>Would definitely stay again for the location though, but with eyes wide open this time!

This is not a bungalow as the two bedrooms are upstairs. The property is also at the top of a very steep road and our 87 year old mum really struggled to get up and down from the road. The beds are old and uncomfortable and the furniture and decor is dated. There seems to be an issue between the owner and neighbours over the height of the decking which means when you exit through the patio doors and look out over to the abbey, there is no alternative but to look out over their garden. We only used the decking area once as we found the neighbours filming us from their bedroom window. When asked why they said they were sick of people looking at their garden. It made us very uncomfortable. The TV Freeview did not work and the WiFi code is incorrect. The only positive about this property is it's close proximity to the town.

Do not stay here or book through Host and Stay. This is not a bungalow. The 2 bedrooms are upstairs. The beds are extremely uncomfortable. The property is at the top of a very steep hill and the wonderful view of the abbey comes with a warning that you have no choice other than to look over next doors garden to see it and they will film you doing so to make a complaint. The water is solar powered and you will be lucky if you get one shower out of it. Freeview TV didn't work and it is outdated and smelt of smoke and musty when we arrived. Never again!

House was even better than in description! Fantastic central location which was accessible to local amenities yet still very private. Private parking space. Lovely cosy and clean house. Highly recommend.

Excellent location, easy to find. Never in the other tv room but can see how it would be useful depending on the make-up of your party.

A lovely chalet style bungalow in the heart of Whitby just behind the train station, although no noise from trains. Ample car parking for 2 cars. All the amenities you would need in the property. Extremely clean. 2 double bedrooms upstairs, with one being ensuite. A further family bathroom is on the ground floor with a second lounge with a sofa bed to make a 3rd bedroom. Should anyone have mobility issues, there is a steep incline up to the property, although there are handrails to aid mobility. Obviously if you drive all the time, this will not affect you as the parking is directly outside the property. We would highly recommend this property and will be booking again in the near future.
