Very bright airy flat in good town centre location The cleaning looks like it was rushed and some things were missed/not done properly but overall it was good

Central for attractions/eateries in Saltburn Pan with burnt on food left in a dirty oven. Contacted H & S but no one came to clean. Freezer compartment full of out of date foods so couldn’t use it. Fridge door had no door shelf for bottles. Dirt in cupboard. Bathroom hand basin not fit for purpose. Too small and couldn’t use without wetting the floor through or banging your head on shelf above it. Bathroom poorly finished. 2 single beds were best suited to children’s use. Not the standard we expect from Host & Stay.

Well equipped apartment in a great location. All was good.

Double booked us and didn’t tell us until 2 hours after check in had elapsed. Offered no alternative nor any other solution.

BOILING HOT! We stayed at the end of July but the temperature outside was only about 18 degrees. The flat was incredibly hot. I emailed to ask for a fan for the bedrooms twice. No response just automated messages. I rang the offices, which by the way are based in Saltburn. And was told that as a fan is not listed on the amenities that I wouldn’t be given one. Then she asked me if I had opened the windows?? We ended up buying a fan for the room my daughter was in. We also found the rooms incredibly bright in the morning. So if you want to sleep here I wouldn’t bother. The outside street is also noisy until late and we stayed at the beginning of the week. Due to the lack of customer service we will not be using host and stay again. Shame really as it’s our third time and have spent over £1000 with them. However a £10 fan has ended us as customers. Lack of response on email and then the rude person on the phone. Saltburn is wonderful, but stay elsewhere.

The problem is Host & Stay. Unavoidable mandatory 'security' fee that has to be paid outside of Airbnb... 'for my peace of mind'! Having used airbnb for almost 10 years, I have never come across such an obvious attempt to rip off the guest - it's left a bad taste. The property itself is OK, a soulless property clearly operated for maximum profit for minimum effort and cost. Previous reviews have mentioned maintenance issues that clearly hadn't been resolved, although they didn't bother me. The bar below is a bit noisy in the evenings though. I won't be going anywhere near a Host & Stay property again.

We have stayed at this Airbnb 3 times now over about an 18month period and every single the time the toilet roll holder has been loose to the point it’s running joke because we always mention it to the host but clearly maintenance is far from priority! Lovely property but definitely starting to look tired round the edges now, could really do with a good paint and a replacement plug in the bathtub (also has been attached to a piece of string for the last 3 visits) not hard jobs but make a difference.

£60 cleaning fee bad enough but a £250 ‘security deposit’ refunded with a £10 “admin fee” taken out - and wouldn’t give entry details into paid - meant it felt like a car hire - had to check for damages - a broken toilet roll holder - and inform them unless charged - flat was basic tbh - on main street and could be noisy - no personal touches - nothing eg like a bottle water - this is a big letting company and they treat you as such - then to cap it all hot water went off - phoned and was advised to ‘run water for 15mins’ - someone did fix it (about 8pm) but went off again next morning - wife had to use kettle/washing up bowl - had been on walk in rain and out for a lovely meal - ok these things happen but no acknowledgment of this or offer to refund - had to chase them etc - and finally not one but 5 messages to leave by 10am! All in all I wouldn’t book again - be aware of all this if you do - it’s a pity Airbnb is turning into an impersonal app that treats you like an algorithm.

The accommodation was perfect. The support from Host and Stay wasn’t at the same level. They didn’t respond to challenging questions. They couldn’t even get a corkscrew to the flat and their offices were actually in Saltburn.. a few other issues that the company didn’t resolve whilst we were there. Not what you would expect from an established business, needs to consider aftercare. Saltburn is a fantastic place and I would visit again, whether I would use Host and Stay is still up in the air, a bit like their customer service procedures.

The apartment exceeded our expectation. It was spacious and bright and the location was central but quiet. The shared entrance smelt musty and would benefit from some TLC

Great spot in Saltburn by the sea! We had a lovely getaway and felt at home in the accommodation! Very clean and easy to check in and out! Will stay with host and stay again!

Filthy on arrival, no bedlinen,, dirty towels in Bath. Alcohol on surfaces and floor. Broken plant. Just the worst ever Everything not been cleaned. No bedlinen or towels. Full bins with pizza boxes. Washing up, broken plant. Sticky floor. Not fit or purpose

Fantastic few days away, with lot to do.

While the location is great due to its proximity to good bars and a beautiful long beach, and the beds were very comfy, the property is a bit tired - cracked walls/paintwork in both the entrance hallway and the apartment itself and when we arrived it hadn't been cleaned; it didn't seem as though we were expected guests. There were cleaning products out on our arrival, the door was ajar, and the window cleaner was present. Surfaces and appliances were still dirty from previous use, one guest had a marked/stained towel and the apartment was half-finished being decorated for Christmas. Bathroom products hadn't been fully restocked either. Other than clean the property ourselves, there wasn't much Host & Stay staff could do other than offer a complaints form. They have maintained contact since returning but I'm yet to hear the outcome following my complaint and photos.

Great location and comfy beds. The hallway leading up to apartment is smelly and messy. Bad drainage smell coming from bathroom and shower not very powerful. A few things need attention ie carpet on stairs not fitted well and lots of marks on walls so looked a bit run down. Not filthy but could be cleaner. Oven quite dirty but didn’t use it so wasn’t too bothered. Overall not a bad apartment but just needs tidying up a bit.

Nice place but unfortunately it was a little noisy outside, not sure whether it was the pizza place or the bar but obviously there was music and people out on the pavement. Went into back bedroom to sleep but even in there we heard a humming sound that came on and went off all night long, I assume it was a freezer or something from the kitchen downstairs.

Would have been a 4 star overall if it had not been for the Deposit admin charge. Considering I'm being charged 410 for 3 nights and the 60 for cleaning fee, even though we are expected to tidy up and clean all dishes. The deposit admin fee should be included in the headline charges and not hidden in the main page. Was very uncomfortable with that. To be clear I have no qualms paying a security deposit, but to be charged an admin fee that is written on the page, doesn't sit right with me. Yes some people will say, it's my responsibility to read the listing. But it's my first experience ever being charged an extra fee on Airbnb and also a fee where I've had to pay outside of Airbnb themselves.

Fantastic place to stay.

We had a lovely 3 nights here. It's a beautiful apartment that's been tastefully decorated and stylishly furnished. As you walk in, you're really hit with how light and airy it is. It was just what we asked for and what was promised based on the description and photos. I would not hesitate to recommend this apartment, or stay here again.

Veldig sentralt. Saltburn er en koselig by. Barnevennlig leilighet. Fint badekar. Gode senger. Ta med egne kjøkkenkniver om du ønsker å lage mat i leiligheten. Ville valgt leiligheten igjen.

We had a great stay in Saltburn- a family reunion. The apartment was perfect- walking distance to great cafes and bars. As well as the supermarket and train station. No issues finding a place to park- even on the busy summer weekends. We would stay here again and thoroughly recommend it as a home base on the gorgeous Yorkshire coast.

Great break and would return to the area and property again

Wasn’t the cleanest, crumbs on the worktop and in the cupboard when we arrived, and we also hoovered the floor and dusted the skirting board. There was no freezer & we had to remover the fridge shelves because there was no where to stand a bottle of milk or wine, no where to have ice cubes or frozen pizzas etc

Beautiful apartment in a superb location . Comfy, warm, everything you could need was to hand. Lovely touch of decorating for Christmas. Utterly divine. In easy walking distance of the beach and surrounded by gorgeous cafes, restaurants and shops. Would return in an instant. Great communication from the hosts throughout.

Just perfect

An exceptional apartment, in a great location. The apartment was kitted out with everything you need; the owner was so friendly, and the apartment is upstairs from a fabulous Deli and Bar/Pizza restaurant... We have already decided to book again next year, when the food festival is on....

We loved the flat and its location. It was warm, clean, functional. comfortable, light and one room even had a view of the sea. We did not realise that we had to specify before we arrived that we wanted the 3rd room as a twin room - but when we asked for it, it was sorted. There is a dishwasher but not that many plates, cups etc, so be prepared to wash some dishes by hand.

Perfect location with everything you could want

First time visitors to Saltburn, we booked fairly late and chose Seaside escape. We had some initial concerns being above a shop and a bar next door, that with young kids it might be noisy, it wasn’t. The apartment itself was a dream, the place was clean, the furnishings were excellent, lovely comfy settee and chain, comfy beds, plenty of towels, amazingly well equipped you needed to take nothing and it’s beautifully styled, to the point where some inspiration has been taken for our family home! The arrival process was smooth and well Explained, the communication from Host and Stay was great, the price was more than reasonable for a weekend stay If I had to make any comments, parking isn’t always easy to get as it’s first come first serve but it’s free and we managed to be right outside and the bathroom could do with a lock, not such a worry as a family but if you were staying with friends or another couple who you might not be that close with, it could be awkward Really enjoyed it here, really enjoyed Saltburn, I’m gonna come back and do some surfing - and I’m going to stay here!

Great communication and a lovely stay and apartment - thoroughly recommend

the interior of the apartment was extremely well laid out. 3 double bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a shower over a bath. plenty of space . corner sofa was very comfortable. double bed in the bedroom as you come in the front door. bed needs to be looked at as if you turn over or move it is very noisy. I don’t know who owns the hallway as you enter, but it smells musty and needs tidying up. doesn’t set a good tone and makes you a bit apprehensive before you enter the apartment.

Spacious and permitted dogs. Location great. Nothing.

Three very spacious bedrooms , nicely decorated, lovely open planned kitchen lounge. Love the location ideal ., not far to local eateries, shops & walking distance to the beach , promenade etc Also it's pet friendly. It was very warm when we were there, one of the bedroom s window can not be opened, Also there is no freezer compartment so if one were to stay for a few days it would be annoying as we like ice in our drinks etc. It didn't bother us but it's on the top floor so will not be ideal for less mobile/ elderly person.

Decor The TV system was a smart TV but the internet service was not good enough to operate the TV system evertime you tried to watch the TV it just kept streaming ever minute or so in which made it impossible to watch any TV program.

Lovely apartment. Well situated within the town. Plenty of shops, bars and restaurants within a short walk of the apartment. Short walk to the beach.

Absolute hidden gem! Right in the high street, cafe and shops below. 10s to train station, 2 mins to the beach! Would highly recommend.

The location was perfect entrance way a bit scruffy

the decoration and furnishings were excellent, the kitchen was well equipped. it was clean, comfortable and just what I wanted. The lady who met me was unbelievably helpful and kind. the blinds didn’t block out the street lights and I could only see one key to unlock the windows but I couldn’t get the key out of the one window which opened so couldn’t open more

Top quality appartment, great location. No freezer and entrance hall was a poor reflection of what was a high quality appartment.
