Neighborhood
Stokesley is a pretty town that is well known for its Friday food, flower and craft markets, and farmers' markets on the first Saturday of each month. Stokesley Agricultural Show is held every year on the third Saturday in September, attracting visitors from all over the country. With everything from dog shows to handicrafts and delicious local delicacies on offer, it's well worth a visit.

Stroll to the east end of the town for a spectacular view of Roseberry Topping and the North York Moors, and admire the ancient mill wheel that resides there. Then, just a few yards away, discover a panorama of buildings and open spaces as you enter the town centre. From here, you can explore Stokesley Manor House at the eastern end of Market Square, and discover the Church of St Peter and Paul, with its famous mouse woodwork carved by the "Mouseman" of Kilburn!

Many quality independent shops create a friendly lively experience for those who regularly visit the town or for newcomers seeing what is on offer for the very first time. The market Place would still be familiar to Captain Cook, Yorkshire’s famous son should he be visiting today.

Small snickets reveal other businesses including teashops, gifts, home furnishings and other hidden gems.

Getting Around
Stokesley is served by the Arriva North East service 28A from Middlesbrough every hour and the 81 from Marske Estate every hour. Abbott's of Leeming run services 80/89, which run every two hours. The services operate six days a week towards Northallerton and Romanby via Osmotherley.

The nearest railway station is now at Great Ayton and has direct links to Middlesbrough and Whitby, as well as stops in the pretty villages along the Esk Valley line.

It was great that the property was right in the centre of Stokesley and right near everything nearby.<br/><br/>The property looked clean on the surface, however it wasn't once you started to look closer. It was a foisty smell upon arrival and didn't smell fresh. The hoover had been left plugged in and was full of dirt. There was no toilet seat attached to the toilet and it has clearly been like this for some time. The bathroom was dusty and there was pubes on the side near the toilet and in the bath and plenty of cobwebs hanging from the ceiling. The laundry basket still had dirty towels in from the previous guests. The iron didn't work and spat out limescale, which ruined a t-shirt. Upstairs in the loft bedroom, there was a pair of dirty knickers, socks and tissues, behind the freestanding open wardrobe. <br/> <br/>One of the sofas is incredibly uncomfortable and there is no way anyone could sit on this. It was like wood, and was clearly a sofa bed or some sort, or a very cheap sofa. Which is not suitable for a living room. There is also no blinds in the kitchen, which overlooks the neighbours garden and shared courtyard. and there is also none hallway between the bedroom and bathroom. So if you get up in the middle of the night and need the toilet, expect everyone to be able to see you outside, or when you're getting ready in the morning. <br/> <br/> In addition to this, during our stay the lights at the property flickered the whole time, both the main lights and any plugged in ones. They gave us instructions to try and reset the fuse box, which is ridiculous especially when the electrics are potentially dangerous. The final straw was when my partner went to plug in his phone charger and the socket sparked and he got an electric shock. We ended up checking out a full day early as we didn't feel safe in the property. <br/> <br/>It needs a good clean and a few plugins, clearly whoever they are using for cleaning isn't up to standard. And they definitely need to get the electrics checked.

Overall it was lovely and I’d happily stay here again, I wished we could have stayed longer. The beds were extremely comfortable. <br/>It was quite cold on a nighttime but the heating kicked in fast and was easy to use. <br/>I have feedback certain things to the host which I won’t put in the review as I spoke to the host about this and they responded very quickly. and it didn’t unpack my our stay.<br/>We didn’t have any issues with parking we managed to get a spot right outside the property.<br/>The only thing I would say is, is the top bedroom window (the one next to the beds) didn’t have a blind so I had to hang a towel over the window (I have a small child so I needed the room dark) but it wasn’t the end of the world <br/>Overall we would happily go back to this property and Stokesly! It’s a lovely market town! We’re hoping to go back dog and child free next time for some much needed peace a quite.

Great location on the High Street in Stokesley. It's on 3 levels with lots of stairs and some low doorways - bumped my head a few times. No paper towels and only one roll of toilet paper provided. No dining table - only 2 stools in the small kitchen. Parking on the street was easy. Overall a great stay for our crew of 4. Thanks!

A lovely cottage in the heart of the market town but tucked away so close to local shops and eateries but not noisy. <br/>The owners were very helpful and reponded really quickly when I had a question.<br/>Stokesley is a lovely little market town and a great base to explore the area.

Pros<br/>Well presented cottage in good peaceful area. Lovely beds, shower and bath.<br/>Cons<br/>No knowledge of amount of waiver costs prior to booking. Lack of transparency in this regard as it was not optional. Stated that this was for my peace of mind but not the case at all!<br/>Rubbish left under the bed, broken slats on bed, broken tap in bathroom. Offered to come and fix it but opted not to since we were only staying a couple of nights. Every time I reported an issues this required photo evidence. It really felt that the cottage had not been checked after the previous person.<br/>Due to purchasing via Airbnb but having to deal with host and stay this meant double correspondence. Had numerous emails and messages which might not have been so bad if we were staying longer but a bit much over a short stay.<br/>We only stayed a couple of nights so not a massive issue but no room for a family of four to eat together around a table.<br/>Stated two single beds but pictures in top room show double and a single.

We loved it. Stayed there over a weekend as we’d travelled to go to a wedding. No issue about the property. The only issue about Host & Stay was the unexpected necessary additional obligatory insurance payment that wasn’t included in the price - extra £25. We may have missed it in the small print somewhere

Good location.<br/><br/>Animal poo found under the bed suggesting a thorough clean has not taken place. <br/><br/>Also read the small print - this property asked for an additional £25 NON REFUNDABLE security deposit after you have booked which is not included in the booking.com price. Your other option is a £250 refundable deposit from which they take an admin fee.

The cottage is situated in a quiet corner of the beautiful Yorkshire market town, Stokesley. Stokesley has a variety of restaurants, pubs, shops, even a farmers market. There is plenty of parking on the cobblestoned public car park and access is via a private alley leading to the cottage door, the key for which is secured within a wall mounted key safe. The kitchen is well equipped with a hob/oven, fridge, kettle and toaster. The bathroom is spacious and equipped with a lovely walk in shower, large bath, sink and toilet. There are two bedrooms, the first floor has a super king, the second floor, two singles. We found the super king to be extremely comfortable. The living room has 2 settees and a smart TV. We would have preferred terrestrial TV but recognise that people are moving towards smart/Wifi enabled access. We enjoyed our stay, thanks Nial.

Great property in Stokesley, perfectly set back from the main drag of the town, but also so close you could touch it. Place was exactly what it said on the tin. The team at host and stay were great, the girls I spoke to unfortunately for them I was in a bad mood and hadn’t read the information properly and I took it out on them without listening or thinking. They managed me perfectly and gave me a great alternative and my idiosyncrasy and pig headed ness was dealt with. Absolute credit to the team they managed me and the situation perfectly. Would definitelyu recommend them and will hopefully be able to come again and it perfectly location for me. <br/>Thanks again to the team !

The property is charming and perfectly situated in the town, it’s beautifully presented with a glorious bathroom. The only issue was an uncomfy sofa and low door heights, but if your not 6ft this probably won’t be an issue for you.<br/><br/>uncomfortable sofa and a very small kitchen.

The location was great it was right in the centre of the town to shops etc. It was nice and warm once we landed.the beds were nice and comfortable, hot water all the time, and lovely with a rain fall shower . Had lots on the tv to keep kids happy, nice, and clean .<br/><br/>The week we landed, they were doing some footpath mantanice.only down fall, no hair dryer, so had to pop to the shops for one .

Hi We loved Stokesly and the location was great, we were a little disappointed with the cleanliness of the property as my wife had to hoover when we arrived, it was also dusty so maybe it has been empty for a while and dust has settled.<br/>It would be nice to have some decent mugs for tea and coffee.<br/>The first impressions as you walk in is a view of a cleaning cupboard without any doors on it and all the mop buckets, hoovers etc are on show.<br/>If this was covered up it would present a lot better.<br/>Hope this is constructive enough.<br/>Best Regards<br/>Mark & Kelly

Location perfect, modern interior, comfy bed, fabulous shower.<br/><br/>First impression walking in, looking into a broom cupboard with no door! not good. Lounge needed painting, paint chipped blistered. Sofa and chair totally unacceptable not fit for purpose very uncomfortable. Owner did apologise for this stating couldn’t get a bigger one through door. Barely seats 4. Kitchen didn’t have a microwave which we needed, fridge didn’t have freezer compartment for making ice for drinks. Blinds needed for windows overlooked both sides. Needs champagne flutes, pint glasses and a tree of matching mugs. Only 2 bar stools so couldn’t cater for 3/4 people. No dining table. Bedroom wardrobe was full of owners plastic storage containers making it awkward to hang long clothes. Blind needed for bathroom.

A really great spot. Very clean. Kitchen well equipped. Beds very comfortable. Living room room furniture very uncomfortable. Such a shame as the rest of house terrific.

Stayed for a week whilst in between house moves and found it a great place with lots to do and see in and around Stokesley.<br/>Very clean, excellent communication and extremely comfortable.<br/>The only (reluctant) criticism is the sofa in the lounge was quite uncomfortable. Had we been staying for a couple of days it would have been fine but a week was noticeable.<br/>But please don't let this discourage others because everything else was superb!!<br/>And we'd definitely stay again.

Great location in the bustling centre of Stokesley. Quirky cottage full of character ideal for a weekend. If there are more than two of you, space for eating is limited although plenty of places to eat are nearby.
