Property Highlight #3

Professionally Designed

This gorgeous property has been designed by a professional interior designer.

The Space
Upon entering the property you will be straight into the hallway, an elegant space with a minimalist approach to the decoration, it’s beautifully patterned flooring will lead you down a pack of luxury into the rest of the property. Turning left off the hall, you will enter our dining and kitchen area. Spacious and with plenty of seating to spare for the whole house, this area is at the very heart of the property where you can all gather together for meals, and relax in your spare time - either at the long dining table or on the kitchen island. The kitchen is sleek and modern, with fine, shining surfaces and appliances for you to work on to make the best of your self-catering stay away from home.

If you were to follow the hall straight through you would come to the first bedroom, inside of which is a double bed that is armoured in the softest, white bed linens and pillows. This room also has its own shower room on hand, wide and open with plenty of room to stretch in the hot water, as well as its own wash basin and WC for convenient use by the lucky guest to sleep downstairs.

Climbing the stairs brings you onto the first floor. The centre of this part of the house is the living room, a blank canvas onto which you use to create the best night in: maybe on the two sofas in front of the flatscreen; or just a place grab an easy rest, sitting down on the fine charis for five minutes in between a busy day exploring the best of what Whitby has to offer. In addition you can find a cosy twin bedroom. A simple room with neutral colouring and reading lamps mounted to the wall, this is the perfect room for the kids or friends to share. Also on this floor are two WCs - useful to avoid any morning queues that might form - and a family bathroom, where you can have a nice relaxing soak, or take a power shower and take advantage of its rainfall feature for the best result. It also comes equipped with cabinets for plenty of storage, as well as a WC and wash basin to use.

On the second floor, you arrive at a quiet part of the house - the Snug, with a sofa and coffee table, it’s a humble place in which you can just grab a 5 minutes to yourself in peace and quiet. Also on this floor are two double bedrooms, both are decorated to the same standard, with soothing whites and pale creams that create the perfect environment for a calming rest after a long day. One of these rooms also has the added bonus of a balcony, where you can sit down and enjoy an evening drink or your morning tea with someone, and look out onto Whitby harbour sprawling across the landscape - waiting for you.

Finally, at the peak of the property, you will find a quiet reading area with a chaise longue, where you can curl up with a choice tome and let time pass you by. This floor also has one double bedroom and a twin, that make the most of their space and neutrally decorated with pale blues and greys. The addition of a showeroom could make it easy for a whole family to have this floor to themselves.

Altogether, Albion House is a sleek, modern property with plenty of room for those large family holidays together where you all venture out - Whitby would be yours for the taking!

Please note that the sofa in the snug can be made up into a double sofa bed. Please contact our friendly team prior to your stay to request for this to be made up.

For this reason, we require all our guests to transfer a Damage Deposit (refundable, subject to an administration charge) or, to purchase an Accidental Damage Waiver which will cover you for up to £500.00 of accidental damage during your stay.

Neighborhood
The centre of Whitby and Whitby Harbour are just a few short steps away from Albion House, so it’s ideal if you want to experience what life is like living by the sea.

The area is famous for the quality of its fish and chip restaurants, and there are plenty of places where you can sink your teeth into a fresh catch. When you fancy a drink, you’ll find a variety of bars as well as pubs and shops in the local area.

Whitby is also famous for Bram Stoker’s gothic novel ‘Dracula’. You’ll find plenty of sites near the apartment with historic interest relating to the story. The main inspiration can be found at the renowned ruined Whitby Abbey.

Step outside of Whitby and you’ll uncover a haven of woodland and moorland. In particular, Dalby Forest and Guisborough Forest, just a short drive away and they both have various beautiful walking and cycling routes to explore.

Getting Around
Albion House is just a short walk to the town centre, Whitby Harbour and the bus and train station. Villages and towns along the North Yorkshire coast can easily be reached via rail. There’s also a taxi rank in close proximity to the train station.

There are plenty of bus routes throughout Whitby. Hop on the X4 and you can visit beautiful coastal villages like Sandsend, Runswick Bay and Staithes. The X93 travels along the coast to Scarborough. The 95 route features plenty of quaint villages, such as Grosmont and Lealholm.

Very spacious property in a ideal location

Bathrooms were on different floors not en suites and the downstairs bathroom appeared to have a drainage issue which caused the water to overflow.

Very lovely house with is decorated lovely and modern. Easy access via the lock box. Location is perfect, just a minute walk to Whitby town centre. Lovely view of the harbour.

The house was clean on the whole but some dust on stair way, skirting boards and a leaking bathroom in the downstairs en suite.
The kitchen diner is a great area but lacking some utensils and felt that some cleaning products and clothes should have been left.

Location was good , house size was ok for our party of 11

Bedding has grease/ oil on it- took 36 hrs to bring fresh bedding for my young daughter’s bed, night before we left!!
Microwave & oven didn’t work ( both reported but never got looked at or repaired.
Oven was filthy ,house needed a deep clean from top to bottom , dog treats & sweet wrappers left under the bed.
Freezer had previous occupants food left in it !
Rear courtyard total disgrace.
Poor communication from host , booking.com & host & stay.
Asked for full refund only to be offer less than a third !!

Avoid !!!!!!!!!!!

The decor was lovely. Plenty of room. Quality of furniture and fittings was high. Location was excellent

I had to pay £250 damage fee twice. No parking. House wasn’t as clean as I’d expect. Dusty surfaces and bathrooms cleanish

Do not book this accommodation unless….. you are on a stag/hen, want dirty/broken kitchen utensils, not enough cups/broken chairs, no toilet roll, or soap on the bathrooms, beds not made, with the most suspect duvets and pillows with stains on them, if you’re okay when you call for assistance that the person cannot understand English, want a tiny fridge with a broken drawer and missing shelf so everything was piled high. If you want to check out at 10am (because the cleaners scheduling is more important than offering a late check out option), the back garden was a health hazard.
Location was amazing.
Genuinely never been anywhere this bad, it looked like the oven trays had hosted 20x greasy bakes, burned the bakes, then allowed to cool and put back in the cupboard. If this sounds right up your street to pay over a grand for two nights. Go ahead.
I complained and was told I didn’t take pictures so they cannot uphold my complaint.

Fabulous house, lovely decor, comfy beds, great (large!) dining table creates such great social space . And only a short walk into town

Only negative was that would have been good to have a sweeping brush. Literally the only negative!

Lots to like about this house, spacious, well located close to town, and it's nicely decorated.
Note, this isn't actually 7 bedrooms & snug, it's 6 bedrooms & snug. There isn't bedding for the snug, so you need to contact the company, who reply fast (& initially tell you you're wrong about the number of bedrooms). Bedding (wrong size) dropped off next day.
There aren't enough remote controls. There are no bath mats, so the floors are often wet. Some appliances don't work. Crockery, cutlery and glasses were not clean. Cutlery, sharp knives, utensils are either really cheap or non existent. There aren't any saucepans, oven dishes etc large enough to cook for 12 people at once, plenty of small ones. There are no oven gloves.
The way the company deals with the security deposit felt very unhelpful. They take the full £250 at the time, as well as a £10 'admin fee', and then take 7 business days to refund. This in itself puts me off ever using the company again.

Spacious, stylish, versatile space. Lots of room for our family and friends to stay. Warm and cosy. No major gripes whatsoever. Would recommend. And within short walking distance of town centre, station and seafront/harbour.

Would like some less bright lights in the kitchen area - again, all very stylish, just was a bit full on. And a few more bin bags would have been great - but again, nothing bad about the property itself. Also some basics like some salt/pepper, oil etc. would have been a help. There was coffee and pods however which was a godsend. The other small issue was parking as it is not always easy to get a space. But we all managed to park ok (despite one ticket for bad parking rather than anything to do with this property!) if not always on the doorstep.

Great house and location spoiled by terrible management company.
On check in we noticed there was only 2 remotes for the 5 different televisions. They promised to provide more remotes and didn’t.
The first night my nieces used the top floor bathroom and afterwards the top floor was flooded with an eggy drain smell. We cleaned the hair trap in the shower which was full of hair and opened the windows which solved the problem. We contacted host and stay and they did offer to send someone round but we had already solved the issue.
The bin outside the front was full of the previous guests rubbish and two bags outside the bin. This attracted rats during the night and was full of flies. Again they promised to empty the bin and didn’t then it was collected on the last day by a private hire company so could have been done at any time.
We paid £225 cleaning charge for 3 nights?
For what exactly?

Keys in lock box, only one for main door though which meant that if some stayed in house they had to keep door unlocked until last people got back, there was 12 of us. Bunch of keys a squash to get in the lock box as well, be better if only main key put in it

Location perfect for us, size of the property etc however it could have been a lot cleaner and one of the double beds broke the first night

The house was very well decorated and maintained. It has a great location and lovely views.
The house was not as equipped and some properties I have stayed in previously, with things such as tea towels, kitchen clothes and bath towels. And we also only seemed to have x2 tv remotes for the whole house. However these are very minor complaints.

the comfort of the beds plus lovely clean white bedding and towels plenty of toilets and showers. very large kitchen and seeting

no where to hang clothes. the dirty mop smell underneath the stairs. the dirty cookers and pot. Dirty bin a dirty throw and n one of the beds. a broken microwave plate
THE STENCH OF THE DOWNSTAIRS SHOWER
a disgusting back yard. dirty windows. Etc. Ect

The kitchen area with the huge table ,a great space for eating and playing games.

The smell of drains in the ground floor bedroom ,I had read about this in previous reviews and contacted the maintenance office at host and stay to be reassured this was no longer a problem when it clearly was.

Great location for exploring Whitby. Lovely view from the front windows. Just far enough away from the centre to be peaceful.

Jill

19/03/2023

The house is in a great location a couple of minutes from the centre of Whitby. The house itself is gorgeous - there's obviously been a lot of effort put into the interiors, it was very comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked with crockery, utensils etc. However, the ground floor bedroom had a fairly pungent smell of drains which was very unpleasant. Also, the house could have been cleaner - there were places that hadn't been hoovered properly, the fridge was dirty and one of the baths didn't drain as the plug hole was clogged. Parking was also difficult. Overall, a great weekend but definitely some issues that need to be addressed.

Overall pleasant stay that would have been excellent but for the need to wipe down all surfaces when we arrived, empty bins and search (unsuccessfully) for an high chair.
The ground floor bedroom suffers from a strong smell of drains.
Perfect place for a big family stay or for a celebration party

Very impressive comfortable, warm and spacious house with immaculately clean bathrooms. No bad odours from the lower bedroom as noted by previous reviews. Kitchen and dining area a great place to gather. Lovely views of the Abbey from the upper bedrooms and a great base for exploring Whitby. Good communication from Host and Stay at all stages, thank you!

Really good house for large groups in Whitby - comfortable rooms and space for 12. Just needed a few extra things like washing up liquid and some work on the ground floor drain but otherwise great.

Jane

21/11/2022

The house was amazing and provided the perfect space for our family gathering. Everything would have been 5 star however the bedroom and the bathroom on the ground floor really let it down, it was a very cosy area but the smell of drains from the bathroom was extremely bad and permeated the whole of the back of the house. I’m afraid I wouldn’t book this house again unless I had full assurance that the issue had been resolved.

A great weekend break was enjoyed by a family group of 12 over 3 generations, particularly as we were blessed by wonderful sunny weather in mid November.
The property is tastefully furnished and decorated and the large kitchen/diner perfect for entertaining. Parking can be a challenge so I would recommend minimising the number of vehicles.

Excellent location for town centre with just one small hill to negotiate and steps to front door. Our party where all over 70 and managed the hill and accommodation steps without and issues.Accommodation very spacious over 4 floors with comfortable furniture and beds. Well equipped with everything you need to make the house a home for your stay with good wifi connections to keep everyone happy.Plenty of bed linen and towels. Communication with host excellent and questions replied to promptly.
My only negative is not being informed before arriving that the shower in the top floor bathroom wasn’t working. Managed to work around problem by sharing other three bathroom showers. If your party can fill the house to capacity it is excellent value. Our party was only 7 adults so worked out a bit expensive compared to hotel bookings but worth it as very easy to walk the 5 mins to the train and stations. Would highly recommend this property to a large party looking for good accommodation that ticks all the boxes.

House is stunning and in a great location

Bathroom on top floor was unavailable when we arrived but this was resolved on our second day. Main issue was smell of damp/drains in ground floor bedroom, which got worse each day. We did enjoy our stay but would not stay again as would not want to use this bedroom again.

Rachel

10/08/2022

This is a lovely property with plenty of room & furnished to a high standard. It is within easy walking distance of the town & beach. There is parking on the street and although it was very busy when we arrived, we were still able to get parked.

The rooms are set over 5 floors so be prepared for lots of walking up & downstairs.
There was a strong smell of damp in the downstairs bedroom & en-suite so we couldn’t use that bedroom. Fortunately we were able to use one of the other bedrooms so it didn’t affect us too much.
Otherwise, it was a great stay!

We stayed in Whitby for a surprise weekend for my mother’s 60th birthday and we couldn’t have picked a better place to celebrate.

Communication from A to Z was simple and quick, with all the relevant information provided at just the right time.

The house is spacious, very clean and super cozy to stay in.
The big cooking/dining area invites for endless nights having a great meal in and drinks at the very spacious dining table.
(Because it is so inviting, we didn’t even get a chance to enjoy the also very comfortable living room ?)

The location is superb to explore Whitby, being something like a 5 min walk to the train station and a 10-15 min walk to town.

We can only recommend the place, should you be looking to get together with friends and family in Whitby.

Thanks for having us!

15/05/2022

We had a great weekend in Whitby and the house was in a great location and generally had good facilities with plenty of lovely communal space. It was a bit misleading to headline it as 7 bedrooms when it is really 6 plus a small sofa bed. It was also strange to have an outside manhole by the downstairs bedroom inside which gave off a really nasty smell at times.

Great house in a very good location. Just far out enough to avoid the night life noise but close enough to join in. Nice views of the river and local parking is available a few minutes away. Ideal for a large family - we had 11 guests staying including three children, or a group of friends.

My family and I were looking for a luxurious, stylish and comfortable stay and Albion House delivered on all three!

The bedrooms and bathrooms were clean and spacious, as well as providing useful furniture for storing clothes and personal items. The living room provided a cosy space which easily hosted for a large group to watch tv and movies. The kitchen really was the heart of the house! The large 12 seater dinning table provided a great space for all our meals, with comfortable chairs and lots of space. The kitchen was fully equipped for a large group and we used it for cooking many meals. The breakfast bar provided many seats and stools which made it a social place for meal and snack times!
Overall, Host and Stay were fantastic at communication and responded to all my messages very promptly. They were always keen to help and were super friendly. They made booking this stay really easy.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Albion house and I’m sure all future guests will also! The house has been decorated and accessorised with true class and sophistication. Whitby is also a lovely town and has lots to offer. Thank you for such an incredible stay!
