Dolphin Cottage 1736 is a tastefully renovated, former Jet Worker’s residence in the heart of Whitby. With its charming cottage character and seaside themed interiors, this two bedroom holiday home is perfect for a family getaway or a couples retreat.

The Space

Upon entering Dolphin Cottage 1736 you walk directly into the open plan living, dining and kitchen space. This bright and spacious area is a mix of traditional cottage design with a modern twist. The L-shaped kitchen comes fully equipped with everything you could need for a short break from home. The dining area consists of a four seater dining table with matching benches. Continuing into the living area, there are two matching grey upholstered sofas, perfect for a cosy evening in front of the television or for getting lost in your latest read with a hot cuppa. The stairway runs from the back of the cottage, up to the first floor where you will find a double bedroom and family bathroom. The bedroom features a soft, pale green and natural colour palette. With a wooden frame bed and a matching set of wardrobe, drawers and bedside table this room is simple with a calm atmosphere. Tones of blue and sea green are brought in through the soft furnishings and wall art. The bathroom sits alongside the master bedroom. A well designed area which utilises the narrow space fantastically. With high gloss white metro tiles and chrome fixtures and fittings the room is modern and tastefully decorated. The bathroom features a walk in shower, WC and basin. Take the narrow staircase to the second floor where you’ll reach the roof space of the cottage. The surprisingly high ceilings and large windows make this room bright and spacious. Featuring twin beds and complementary furniture, this soft pink toned room feels feminine and chic. The cottage is tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the main street, allowing you to enjoy the peaceful side of Whitby.

It was central and clean although the bed covers on the top floor had holes and the liaison with the host was terrible. We were sold this when we booked with parking, checked again in Feb and were told we would have a scratch permit. The day before checking we were told this wasn’t possible, never had been, although we had confirmation about this. The reason we booked was parking and it cost us £25 which the host didn’t give two hoots about and refused to answer questions apart from resending the parking details. This was disappointing and very frustrating and the lack of care or customer service was outrageous. This ruined our weekend as we were travelling with someone with an illness hence picking a central cottage and parking.

Clean. Good Location. Small living area & stairs awkward for elderly.
